Oracle's Odyssey

Rate this book
Zeik is out on a routine fishing trip, hoping for much-needed alone time, when it becomes anything but routine. Instead of catching a fish, he pulls a girl from the icy water of the frozen lake, clinging to life. He brings her back to his village in the hopes of saving her, only for her to awake without any memory of who she is or anything of her past. Taken in by strangers, she starts a journey of self-discovery where lines will be blurred between enemies and friends. Zeik takes on the reluctant task of returning her to her unknown home, to get rid of her, but his plans take a turn when faced with a difficult decision. Can he remain compliant in leading her astray or will his feelings betray him? Will he choose to be her salvation or will he be her downfall? Choices will be made in this odyssey of trial and tribulation where nothing is as it seems.

I think the story is a good one and it has a lot of potential. It was just a bit repetitive through out the book. The characters thoughts and feelings were repetitive and constantly reminded. The events that happened to cause "mistrust" could be justified but the more it was brought up it made me think "Ok, I get it. Get over it. It was not that serious". I think if there was more time in the beginning to grow on the mistrust relationship that they would have with each other and maybe make her more resistant on sharing it would add more suspense. I was not expecting this to go into the "spicy side" at all so that was interesting. I think descriptions are good. At times it was random and bit obsessive from Zack's character.
The ending took me for surprise but it was nice. Kind of open ended I would say.
It was easy for me to get into it was just a bit rough on details that's all. I think with another revision it can become a greater story.

I really struggled to get past the writing style and unfortunately had to DNF. I'm sure others can find the charm but it just wasn't for me. The narrative was very repetitive - back to back sentences would often convey the same message with slightly different wording. I think some heavier editing and more reliance on scene setting or dialogue may have helped

Removing my * rating because I see no point in dragging down the overall rating for this. Looks like it may be one of the only reviews on this and I'd hate to steer others away

High school essay?

Needs another good go through of editing. Grammar and repetitive sentences. Writing style is very indescriptive, and short. I wasn't a fan.
