Greg Olsen was raised in a farming community in rural Idaho. His paintings are deeply influenced by his life experiences and spiritual journeys and strive to convey stories that speak to the soul.

Olsen’s art has found a place in notable institutions, including the Pentagon, the NCAA Hall of Fame, the US Forest service, and numerous religious and educational settings.

In 1988, a transformative visit to Jerusalem deeply enriched his spiritual and artistic perspectives. This journey would lay the groundwork for his future works, especially in the realm of Christian art. In 1993, he signed a deal with Mill Pond Press, propelling his Christian-themed works into the national spotlight.

Reading this book brings a sweet spirit to you as you read the quotes of prophets and apostles on one page and the next page a corresponding painting by Greg Olsen. I love the paintings and the quotes.

My favorite is the picture of Christ at the tomb with Mary after being resurrected. The quote with it by Elder Russell M. Nelson says, "Evidence of the Savior's high regard for women is in the appearance of the resurrected Lord first to them. He came initially to Mary from Magdala, then appeared to a group of women including Mary, the mother of James; Salome; and others before he presented himself to the brethren."

A beautiful and sweet reminder of the goodness women of all ages have to be a strong, loving influence for others.

“Cultivate and employ generously your noble, womanly, instincts of care and mercy, first to your family and then to others. May you always hunger and thirst after righteousness within the framework of the revealed gospel of Jesus Christ. May you have an eternal perspective as you go about your angelic cause of doing good so that it will not only lead you to become great women but ultimately to become queens in the eternities.” James E. Faust

“Kristen was finishing a graduate degree and had recently given birth to her second child. She felt the other graduates had accomplished so much more and was reluctant to attend the graduation dinner. Her fears were confirmed when, at the dinner, the students were asked to list Their professional accomplishments. Kristen recalled: “I suddenly felt embarrassed and ashamed. I had nothing to call myself, no lofty position, no impressive job title.” To make matters worse, the professor at the list as he presented a diploma to each student. The woman ahead of Kristen how many accomplishments: she already had a PhD, was receiving a second Masters degree, and she even been a mayor! The woman received a grant applause. Then it was Kristen’s turn. She handed the professor her blank sheet, trying to hold back tears. The professor had been one of her teachers and had praised her performance. He looked at her blank paper. Without missing a beat he announced, “Kristen holds the most critical role in all society.” He was quiet for a few seconds, then declared in a powerful voice, “she is the mother of her children”. Instead of a few courteous claps, people rose their feet. There was just one standing ovation that night;it was for the mother in the room.” -Bonnie D Parkin

“Motherhood is near to divinity. It is the highest, holiest service to be assumed by mankind. It places her who honors its holy calling and service next to the angels.” -James R. Clark

If you love Greg Olsen's art, this is a wonderful addition to your library. I can skip through it with my young kids and discuss the beautiful pictures, or I can spend more time and browse through the statements on women and mothers. It's designed so you don't have to read it from front to back. You can open at any page, spend a couple of minutes on an uplifting message, then shut it to go on with your day. Beautiful and uplifting.

I see that no one made any comments on this small book. I really liked it. I read it in less than a half hour. It could be read in a lot less time, but I savored the beautiful pictures and drank the touching words that were with each Gregg Olsen picture.
