Rescued from a life of solitude and damnation by her wealthy Uncle, Lamia is thrown into a Victorian society full of decadence and debauchery. Where her vampiric nature is awakened and her blood lust becomes urgent and all consuming. We follow Lamia over the centuries to the present day, where Lamia manages to find a life of somewhat normalcy, then suddenly her world is thrown once again into chaos and depravity by the hands of her Uncle. Lamia’s life becomes a dangerous spiral of sex, violence and a thirst not only for blood but also survival. Shocking and raw, Lamia strips back vampire clichés and exposes a vampire culture fuelled by power, cults and BDSM.
Destiny West starting writing professionally in 2000, whilst living in the UK. She is an award winning horror and erotica writer residing in Western Australia. Her work has been labelled blasphemous and extreme, with a no holds barred approach to subject matter. She also works as a journalist and columnist for a newspaper, where she practices a more mainstream approach to her writing.
Lamia is a fascinating tale about a female vampire from her abusive becoming to her tragic finale. It's intelligently written and the main character is well drawn. I found Lamia an intriguing and often arousing read.
