Deranged, depraved, but shockingly minimally moldy despite the name. Honestly, this apocalyptic horror was intense, and if it was longer, I’d definitely still be reading it to see where it could possibly go next.
Well, this one started like a normal day, until the smell of sex hits the air. As Ash introduces us to a very different story format, one I LOVE time instead of chapters. Building up the tension as the story continues, Vanessa gradually starts changing over the hours after being exposed to the mould. But the side effects involve sex and violence on a whole other level. The story seems to take a transformation, in more ways than the one removing the whole zombie idea to an extent. But basing the motives of the infected on the primary needs, removing emotion and leaving one basic desire regardless of the obstacles or moral dilemmas if before. This takes a darker and more sinister turn as this short shocker reaches its classic Ericmore Climax.
I’m REALLY not a fan of the writing style — judging by the previews at the back of the book, this isn’t a one time thing. This will likely be my first and only book by this author because the sentence structure (or lack thereof) really sucked me out of the story.
I kept reading because I was interested in the story, but by the time I was finished, I was entirely too thankful. The story was just okay, it had potential for so much more.
Read this short in one sitting as I really couldn't put it down. I'm absolutely loving these novelettes Ericmore is putting out each month. If you haven't read any of them I highly recommend it! They are mostly exclusive to godless.com and are well worth checking out.
