There’s not one person on the planet who isn’t at least curious about living their life to the fullest and flourishing. Ben’s book, “Bring It Out,” is an encouraging framework for seeing, evaluating, and bringing forth our God-given gifts. After finishing the book, I could see some areas where I have shrunk back personally and professionally. The questions brought forth from the book for personal evaluation have been helpful in decision making & future planning. This is one I’ll refer back to time and time again. Great for personal study or small group setting.
This book has so much wisdom in it that is both practical and Biblically backed. It’s an easy read in that you can get through it quickly, but I believe has its best value by reading it at a slower pace and really thinking about the questions. Who doesn’t want to bring out the best in us and in those around us? There’s a lot on here for all stages of life, whether it is exploring “what should I do with my life?” or how to elevate one’s current situation. Definitely will be rereading this one.
I wound up highlighting many sentences, quotes, and other passages in this book. After I finished reading it, I went back and reviewed those highlighted sections several times. I can see where I need to make adjustments in my daily routines and thinking to ensure I'm "bringing out" what God has for me. A very thought-provoking read.
I’m very proud & grateful to say, Ben has been such a source of wisdom to me personally in life and ministry. And it’s safe to say, if not for God working through him, our church would not be seeing the impact it is today.
In this book, Ben distills so much scriptural insight and wisdom for Christians (and non-Christians, alike), who are trying to live out their life purpose.
And, most of all, he LIVES all that he’s writing about.
I won a printed version of this book from Goodreads. However, the pkg arrived ripped open with no book in it. I don't know how to report this; I was looking forward to reading it. Update: They sent me a new one. I haven't read the whole thing yet, but I've read enough of it to know that this book can help me. It's interesting and informative and reader friendly. It gives you insight that helps you change your way of thinking, and tools for making the most of who you are. The 5 stars stay.
Indirectly recommended by my friend Mary Kim who brought me to Epic Church around the time Pastor Ben published his book.
Bring It Out shares a lot of concepts I already use in my personal life, such as the Wisdom Table, which mirrors many of the principles my parents taught me growing up. I appreciated Ben's emphasis on internal formation over external performance. This is similar to what Marcus Aurelius writes about in Meditations. Focusing on things like the who and why and accepting what he calls front-end pain are ideas I think we are losing as a society as we continually focus on avoiding pain and what we are going to get out of something.
I enjoy listening to his sermons, and this felt like a nice reinforcement of those teachings.
I would recommend to anyone who is trying to find their purpose and wants a faith based self help book.
