One of my favorite Chainsaw Man covers for sure, but the volume itself was just okay in my opinion. I didn't care all that much, sadly.

I don't hate era 2 but I feel like there's a lot going on and I struggle to follow along with it all. It feels kinda messy right now. We'll have to see how Fujimoto decides to bring everything together.

Fujimoto you dirty creature where the hell is your attention span? One minute I’m here, then I’m there, then I’m nowhere, then I’m somewhere REALLY important… and then we’re talking about licking buttholes and having sex, I can’t keep up.

It’s not super bad and I am having a good ole time reading because I also have a short attention span but I need a major focal point at some point. I’m trusting the process but my patience is running thin.

A weaker volume. Basically Denji is just going around sulking, we don't have much of Asa, and the chainsaw church is probably my least favorite part of part 2 of this series. But still intrigued where we go next.

Sekavaa tarinankerrontaa. Kuvat eivät edelleen ole pahimmasta päästä, mutta ovat kuitenkin huonontuneet laadultaan ja parissa viime osassa on ollut ehkä vähän liikaa tekstiä. Pitäisi löytää tasapaino, nyt näissä on ollut joko liian vähän tai liikaa. Se on hyvää, että itse chainsawman on kasvanut ainakin vähän eikä ole niin lapsellinen kuin 11 ensimmäisessä osassa.

I needed more Asa content, her side story is just too good. Also, this cover is just so pretty but the content of this volume wasn't it for me personally.... the random cult was an odd choice for sure, not that this whole series isn't the definition of odd haha.

On a side note, I am not loving the direction that this story is going, I am considering switching to the digital chapters for awhile to see if I even want to keep collecting this series physically.

P. D. para la traducción oficial española: Denji jamás diría "minga" y ninguna persona usaría el verbo "embutir" teniendo "meter" (¿quién diría "embútetela"?).

Um volume atípico levando em consideração todo o ritmo do mangá e suas excelentes cenas de ação. Foi uma edição que focou em apresentar mais a igreja chainsawman, e ficou por aí, nada emocionante.

Contudo, estou curioso para saber o que o cara da segurança pública quer com o Denji e seu interesse em não deixa-lo se transformar em chainsawman, isso ainda está suspeito

this title is so sad to me all denji ever wanted was a normal life and he almost got that with aki and power (he did not I am lying but I keep thinking about what could have been), anyways the actual chapter,,, honestly surprised it took denji this long to be in a fight,, thought this was a wholesome trip to the cinema but apparently not WHO EVEN IS SHE,, is this what a normal life is like? sometimes I hate being a chainsaw man reader and the end of the last one and beginning of this chapter solidified that even more. Chapter 141: Normal Life Plus
Its kinda nice seeing them live a normal life but you can see my boy denji is clearly unhappy,, I always forget just how many dogs they have in that tiny apartment, aki would go insane,, these chainsaw cult guys are so sus tho, I guess they're gonna succeed in bringing out csm tho because idk how much longer denji can do nothing for

My takeaways on Volume 16:


Fumiko Mifune touching Denji's weiner got a laugh out of me!!! 🫣🫠 But, then again…ewww…😳😨. Anyway, this is a mature manga, and the plot goes on to introduce the Chainsaw Man (CSM) Church members like Miri Sugo (or “Sword Man” who initially appeared on the Control Arc of Chainsaw Man Part 1) and Barem. The CSM Church members are threatening Denji: if he doesn’t transform into Chainsaw Man, all Denji’s loved ones will be hurt!! 😨

Also, Kobeni’s younger brother (Nobana Higashiyama) appeared in this volume. Finally, we get to see his face, and he is cowardly like Kobeni. 🤣 “Like sister, like brother”, I guess.

Anyway, the biggest surprise of this volume is Quanxi returning to the series. But, she’s working for Special Division 7 (taking care of devils and fiends)! She’s sooo cool and collected no matter how you look at it. Wonder how a hybrid like her survived under Makima’s control (as seen in the climax of Part 1 of Chainsaw Man)?

I can't fathom how anyone could think this series fell off after part one. The Chainsaw Man Church stuff is just as good as anything in part one. Every new character, particularly the villains, are intimidating and have a lot of potential. Asa and Yoru are doing their own thing now, and Denji is being driven closer and closer to turning back into Chainsaw Man.

Love chainsaw man, this arc feels like a pretty slow build compared to the prior one, but I think the payoff will be great. Continues to be a very fun read.

I have a lot of the same sentiments as many of the other reviewers. I feel like there is alot happening and many side plots going on. I am not sure if it's all a distraction or if everything is going to converge. I think having a Nostradamus Doomsday looming, Chainsaw Man Church, Four Horsemen shenanigans, and Public Safety really makes the reader's head spin.



This one didn't focus as much on Asa and maybe that's why it's not really a four star to me. While I like focusing back on Denji a little, this whole story line is more confusing than anything. Takes away from the simplicity and joy of following a character like Denji. He seems to be fighting against the normal life which is not really in character with how Denji was in the first arc.

Also, that surprise ending came out of left field. I wish I re-read the first arc before diving back into the series. There are weird side characters being mixed in, where I think they may have more weight in the story, but it feels strange as well as unearned rather than exciting. I am leaving this volume still confused but I still want to know how things are going to turn out dammit!

This volume has some of Fujimoto's best gags yet. For instance, Asa's poetry recitation and the sequence leading up to Denji licking the devil had me laughing out loud. There's great paneling work as well, such as the wordless sequence at the beginning of chapter 141. Besides that, I don't enjoy the story in the slightest. It's so directionless! On top of that, the new batch of characters is boring.
