Nope

This book was extremely unrealistic granted most books are but usually your so wrapped up in the story you don't notice. I had to constantly go back and reread things because it jumped around with no transition and I thought I had missed something but nope it was just awkward and the spicy scenes were all so similar I started skipping them all together

DNF 20%. I can’t with the repeat info constantly. Didn’t the author reread what they wrote. It seems lazy and as if you don’t have a good story to write.
So far I have come across repeats of Aunt Dede’s info/generosity. And repeats of Ava’s lack of O’s and that she’s a fraud sex columnist. Um hello, she’s had sex,not a virgin, how is she a fraud. This is so dumb. And she obsesses over it. Girl get over it.
Jasper’s a manwhore, but wants to help keep Ava from snake men in New York by what offering himself up of course. Ok, you walking STD.
Ava’s obsession over Danny being fired for coping stuff is dumb. Ava’s problem and what Danny didn’t aren’t even the same thing comparably.
I’m done and this is repetitive, dumb, and slow.
Two stars for premise which I was excited about. One star for execution.
Apparently I’ve read other books by this author in the past. Oh and guess what? I didn’t like those either.

Dear Lawd help me I picked this back up! It doesn’t get better, drags. 46% we have an O. 55% she’s had unprotected sex with these three, which included the manwhore, eww. Unprotected? Gross. The guys don’t even ask her about protection, nothing, just make that choice for her. Way to not be responsible. Including you author. And down this story goes again at 56%. I’m changing rating to one star from two.

This is the story of Ava Sterling and her journey to satisfaction. Yep, she might be the writer of the premier sex column in New York, but Ava has a secret and given what she writes about it’s a doozy. The woman who makes a living guiding women through the trials and tribulations of their intimate lives is somewhat inexperienced in certain areas. Yep, she’s an orgasm virgin and when her brother’s best friend and her roommate Jasper and his two friends accidentally find out about this, they decide to volunteer as tribute to assist her in hitting that big O!

Mika Lane was a new to me author but if this quirky and witty book is any indication of her style, then consider me a fan. Her writing is sharp and amusing without being crude especially when it comes to Ava’s column in Glisten magazine to the extent, I wish this was a real publication, I’d definitely be a fan. The characters were all well rounded and believable with some fantastic dialogue between them and I loved the scene with the sports quiz. For a reverse harem story this book was surprisingly slow paced with more attention being paid to the overall story and developing the relationship between all of the characters rather than the physical aspects. One thing they have in common is they all have a secret. They might not be huge, earth shattering ones in the grand scheme of things but whether its Jasper or Leo or Ethan’s it has shaped their lives to a certain extent and left them feeling weighed down but after Ava reveals her secret to the world she realised there was nothing wrong with her, she just hadn’t met the right man or men in her case to make her see stars and chances are, someone else is out there thinking they’re alone so a secret shared can be a good thing, something the boys realised and they opened up to Ava.

From No to O was the first book in the Why Choose Chronicle and I don’t know if the next book will feature different characters or continue on the story of Ava and her three men. I hope it does because I’d love to know more about life for Ava, Jasper, Ethan and Leo as a quadruple as although I loved this book, to me the ending felt more a kind of happily ever for now rather than forever.

A bit of humor, a bit of personal truth, and a few O's

I have seen bits and pieces of this advertised on Facebook, so I wanted to give it a read. The actual book was a bit less than I hoped for, but it still wasn't bad.

A journalist, Ava, who writes the "love and sex" column for a well-known magazine, feels like a fraud when she's asked to write about her first "O"... but she's never had one. What kind of person who writes a love and sex column can't even "O"? Exactly - a fraud (in her opinion). She needs to rectify this before the due date for her article and goes to her friend for assistance.

Her roommate and his friends happen to find out about her dilemma and feel it's their duty to help. Though, they certainly aren't her type, that she's aware of, so when they seem to start flirting with her and paying attention to her, she isn't sure what to think. I won't say anything else, though, so that I don't give away the whole story (even if it is a typical romance that is pretty predictable, with or without my spoilers).

Something I didn't like was how the book went on and on about how much of a player her roommate, Jasper, was. I mean, I get it - he was. He brought home different women almost every night. He loved it. Personally, I don't like hearing about their "scandalous ways" before getting with the main characters. It just makes me feel yucky toward them. I'm sure the point was to show how much he changed his ways because he fell for Ava and such, but I PERSONALLY felt it was a lot. That's just my opinion, though, and I'm not really removing a star for that.

Another thing that was minor was that the author changed the name of the store a couple of times that Ava went to and was going to speak at. It was "Cool Vibes" most of the book, I believe (it was at the beginning of the last chapter, for sure), then "Good Vibes" a page or two later. It was a minor little thing, but it was still something I caught.

Anyway. It was a cute enough story. Had a variety of characters, different enough personalities (I liked Leo the best), a good message for women near the end, and is a decent standalone if you just need something a little lighter between reads.

Ava Sterling is a successful writer for Glisten Magazine, more specifically, their “Sex & Love” segment. She gives advice, and writes about intimate moments that readers love. But when her boss tells her to write about her first O, there’s a problem. She has never actually experienced one.

Now, fearing she’ll lose her job if she can’t write about her first O, she turns to her friends, who then advise her to meet someone online. Certain circumstances lead to her roommate, Jasper (who is also her brother’s best friend), finding out that she’s looking online…and he offers to help her. Well, him and two of his friends, Ethan and Leo.

Ava had to open her mind a little, especially since there were three men in her life. She did end up experiencing her first O. And all three guys wanted to continue to be with her. But Ava wasn’t sure if they wanted more than just to help her experience her first O, and she tried to let them all go; and she wasn’t sure how it would work – being with three men. Yet none of them understood why she was trying to “leave” them.

Also, each of the characters had some sort of secret, and they all had to work through some things to truly be happy.

Honestly, that column seems like it would be fun to read! This book focused more on Ava’s journey than the three men, though we did get to see things from their POV occasionally. Ava also has to deal with her brother at one point, and I love how she doesn’t take his sh*t. He’s a real piece of work and a hypocrite to boot. I hope he gets a story, because I want to see someone else put him in his place.

This is a slow burn reverse harem with a fun cast of characters, including the side characters. It was my first book by Mika Lane, and I enjoyed it.

ARC Review of From No To O by Mika Lane
* * * * *
A spicy read on how one woman who cannot find that glorious, toe-curling moment until she gets a little assistance from not one, not two, but three extremely attractive men all willing to lend a hand...then some.

Ava is living a lie.
She works for Glisten, a magazine that is all about sex. Her boss has just given her a task to write about her first big O...which is a bit of a pickle since she has never had one. Ava thinks she will without a doubt lose her job if she doesn't and even Craigslist has become an option.
Go figure when her roommate/brother's best friend Jasper and his two friends Leo and Ethan come across her research. There is no way they are letting her go around some creep.
So, they happily volunteer...even if that means they don't tell her they know about her little issue.
Crazy friends, a pain-in-a** coworker, a surprise visit from a jerk of a brother, and an aunty with some dirty secrets I want to hear about!
Things are about to get steamy and complicated.

A spicy foursome exploring the world of sex and getting that big O, showing sometimes it just takes a little more than one person or a toy or your own hand to get that firework moment.
Cami is hilarious with her paranoia, Lana is very 'explorative' even if she does go a little bit far, Andy someone that deserves a paragraph written about them but I shall refrain myself so you all will see why.
It was comical how the guys bagged Ava about sports and she pulled the fun little activity. That was evil. I loved it!
Very interested and would like to try out another read from this author.

So we have Ava; who is a journalist for a Magazine her section is about sex and love, but she is asked to write about her first. First "O" that is and she has a secret......
Why Choose: enter Jasper (her roommate) and his friends Ethan and Leo. They accidentally find out her secret and want to help her out.
This story gets a bit crazy and funny, and def keeps you wanting to know what is going to happen next. Not just with Ava and her mission, or with the guys, but with her job and her friends. Its just such a well put together story. Loved it!

This is not just a 'Why Choose' book to me it had a lot more to it.
I like how it was about dealing with things you are uncomfortable with, stepping out of your comfort zone/shell and growing as a person and relationships.
So to many having a relationship like this is odd or doesn't make sense, but it also shows that all people are different and life isn't always what we think it might be.
I am not a fan of a 4 person relationship and I don't think I could do it bc yeah I would be jealous and not wanna share but it was a fun story.

Well-written, Unique story

This looks like this is the first book of a series so that is interesting and I can't wait to read the next one.

I got the chance to read this book as an ARC, thanks to the publisher and Booksprout. The review/opinions above are my own, honest and voluntary.

Not a rom com for me

This is my first read from this author, and I am glad I took the chance on her work.

Ava has an interesting job, writing a sex column for the magazine, Glisten, and when her boss requests a column on something she knows nothing about, she and her co-worker friends set out to fix the issue.
While they mean well, Cami and Lana's solutions are not exactly what she needs. (IYKYK)😉

Jasper, Leo and Ethan work at the Sports magazine that shares the same parent company as Glisten, and by coincidence, Jasper is Ava's roommate and her brother's friend. (I know, right?) When the guys accidentally come across her secret, they want to help.

I could connect with Ava's desire to have the "O experience" and found the guys entertaining. I didn’t love Ava's attitude after the fact (or her brother's), but the resolution to the fallout was good.

This wasn't a rom-com for me, but an enjoyable read all the same. It takes a bit to get into the steamy scenes between these characters, but when they do, they have good chemistry. I recommend reading this one.

Just finished reading about Ava, a journalist for a magazine who writes about love and sex. But guess what? She's asked to write about her first "O", and she's got a secret...

Enter Jasper, her roommate, and his buddies Ethan and Leo. They stumble upon her secret and decide to lend her a helping hand. The plot just gets wilder funnier, and keeps you hooked - you can't help but wonder what's next. Not just for Ava and her mission with the guys but also with her job and friends. What an amazing story!

This isn't your typical 'Why Choose' book - it dives deeper. It's about facing your fears, stepping out of your comfort zone, and growing as an individual and in relationships. Sure, some might find the idea of a four-person relationship odd or nonsensical - but it shows how diverse we all are and that life isn't always what we expect.

This well-written, unique tale seems like the start of a series - can't wait for the next one!.

I loved it!

This book is amazing! Ava’s story is full of love, laughter, crazy friends and is an absolute must read! When her latest story for the magazine she works for is announced, it has her full of fear. While she is a relationship columnist, she has a bit of a fake it till you make it approach on certain subjects, and this latest article is no exception. Enter her roommate Jasper and his friends Ethan and Leo. They find out about her little secret and are determined to help. Things are a bit bumpy as the four navigate this new relationship that isn’t a full blown relationship. Her brother coming to town will cause some friction and it will send Ava running in the other direction. But a big gesture by the guys will make her realize that love is what you make it and it’s worth it for them all to give it a real go, regardless of what other people say.

I read an ARC copy of this book and am volunteering my honest review.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

Ava is a woman on a journey to satisfaction. She is the writer of the most popular sex column in New York. However she has a secret that could blow her whole column writing out of the water. She guides ladies through the ins and out of very intimate things, but is not very experienced at all in the things she is writing and giving advice about. The girl has never had an orgasm. Her brother's best friend and roommate Jasper and his two friends accidentally find out about her secret, they decide to volunteer to help her achieve the big O. This story will have you cracking up and laughing out loud at times. I probably wouldn't read it in public. I loved all the characters in this book and it is a really good book. There is more going on in this book than you think. You just need this book in your life and have the best time reading it. It is a really fun read.

This is the 1st book in the A Why Choose Romantic Comedy series featuring the HOT rom-com RH romance between Ethan, Jasper, Leo and Ava. Ava works for Glisten magazine she has a sex and love advice column but she feels like a fraud. Ava's readers think that she has it all brains, glamorous and a sex ĺife everyone else would want. Imagine what they'd think if her secret was ever revealed that she's never had her own "Big O" nothing even close to it. Jasper is Ava's roommate he was best friends with her brother in college Ethan and Leo are friends and coworkers with Jasper at "Sports Incorporated." The guys accidentally discovered Ava's secret and they decide that they have to help her even though they all have some reservations about this. I don't want to say anymore and ruin it for anyone else with spoilers. You really need to read this HOT rom-com RH romance to see what happens. I would recommend reading this book

So this is my first book that I read by Mika Lane that I'm aware of. And it was a good read although at the beginning it started a little slow for me. It was definitely a slow build up and a get to know all the characters. Which I liked a lot. And I really liked all the pov's we got because that meant we really got into their heads and knew what they were thinking and feeling. And Jasper, Leo and Ethan all were so different it was very entertaining. And then Ava's pov and then hearing about her two best friends and listening to them through her. They were absolutely hilarious!! I loved them. But then when that burn hit oh did it hit!! It was very hot. And then the drama happened and I got so upset and wanted to hurt some people.  So overall it was a very interesting, hilarious and entertaining read. And I would definitely recommend it.

I really enjoyed this story. It had a bit of that 13 going on 30 feel to me. Maybe because of the magazine angle, but like that movie, this book was flirty and fun. I loved Ava's quest for her big O and was so happy once she finally found and then found it again and again and....you get the picture. I also enjoyed watching her men and her deal with all their flaws and hangups and somehow working through everything, as adults (adulting really does suck) and getting to a point where that happily ever after is finally staring them in the face. I thought that the epilogue did a fabulous job of tying up everyone's stories and showing us where they all are now.

Do yourself a favor and sign up for the author's newsletter to get the bonus epilogue. You'll be happy with Ava's final article.

This is the first book in the Why Chose Chronicles. It funny and oh so hot. Ava doles out advice on sex to women everywhere through the articles in Glisten but Ava has a secret she's never experienced an orgasm. She feels like a fraud and when she is tasked with writing about her first big O she fears she's going to lose her job. Enter stage left, Ava's hot but annoying roommate Jasper and his two friends Leo and Ethan. They accidently find out about Ava's little problem and want to help her with it. Ava starts to fall for all three of her guys but she can't have all three of them or can she? Funny, hot, the characters are quirky and unique. I really enjoyed it and hope there will be more in the series.

This book is cute. It’s a pretty quick read and easy to fall in love with these boys and root for them to be with Ava. These characters are all so relatable. We don’t get to see a lot into the backgrounds of the characters much and the story mainly focuses on the conflict at hand. This book could’ve been spread out longer forsure if we had explored all the guys background more. As much as it was a moment where I was yelling at the book, I think Ava’s reaction to a lot of the situations are so predictable in a sense that most people would do that in a similar situation even though as the bystander, I know it isn’t going to end well. This book is a great pallet cleanser with no dark themes or triggers!

Reviewed for A Book Nerd, a Bookseller and a Bibliophile

Ava is a woman looking for her first big O. As a sex and love columnist, she feels like a fraud as she gives advice on how to be your sexy self to her readers. With one borrowed computer going wrong, her roommate and his two best friends are prepared to help her out. The story is told from multiple POVs of each character. I felt that Ava needed to learn to communicate better with her men. Jasper, Leo, and Ethan were not one-dimensional, they had a good short backstory explaining who they were and why. This is definitely a slow-burn romance even though it was a reverse harem and was never too graphic of details just enough to keep the reader interested. Great humor and some over-the-top sex humor.

Love Author Mika Lane's work, I find I am always contentedly nourished in the land of romance story telling. I will admit a cleaner romance story to others I've read but just enough flesh expressed to satisfy any romantic reader.
Loved all the characters from the four major ones to the supporting ones that help fill out the overall story. So many times throughout the story I was left with a good laugh with the antics and conversational pieces between characters. But simply the whole concept of the story surrounding the idea of writing about one's first org@$m and not having experienced hers is simply enchanting!.

I feel like this could have been made longer with more relationship growth. The story was a fun read, and I did enjoy it. The characters seemed well-developed.

Some RH have the misfortune of not being able to make the guys separate beings and end up with a copy/paste with different hair/eye colors. This why choose did not seem to have that problem. However, I will add that I am not a fan of the brother, and I wasn't a fan of the friend Lana from the first introduction - more self-absorbed and selfish than an actual friend.

There did seem to be a lot of empty time that could have been filled-in with relationship growth. I think, maybe, a month passes? But it reads like it's maybe a week. There are about two group dates, and that's it.

Overall, I did enjoy the story though.

This seems to be the beginning of a three book series but it read like a standalone. Ava has a secret. She works at a national magazine and she writes the sex and love column. When given the assignment of writing about her first “big O”, she has a problem. She’s never actually had one. Now afraid for her job, she must find a way to have her own “O” and keep her secret. Her sexy roommate and his friends accidentally find out her secret and want to help. So, all three set off to get together with Ava. This story is funny, unique and STEAMY. Will definitely read more from this author.

"Knowledge is power, but honesty is true liberation."

This rom-com reverse-harem romance gives me a good laugh while flipping the pages. Loved the characters' humor. The heroine is a badass chick, smart, and knows how to stick to her morals, while the three men in her life know how to address their wrongs. I like how this story highlights honesty as total liberation.

Ava has a monthly column where she enlightens women, but when her editor drops bombshell, where she should write about her own “Big O” she panics, and her overprotective roommate and his hot friends offer a solution to her dilemma.
This is a well written story which is east to read, which is a slow burn, with humor, witty banter, emotions, secrets, twists, and is a fun, entertaining, and steamy addictive page turner.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

Amazing story by this author. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

This was a fun and funny series opener. I love the idea that a sex advice columnist doesn't have that much experience and is missing out on her own big 'O' ;D Enter (ha!) her roommate Jasper and his buddies, Ethan and Leo, all determined to help her experience true bliss ;P Told in multiple POVs, I really enjoyed getting to peek into all their heads and loved seeing them find their HEA. Of course, there is some drama to keep things hopping but I really enjoyed how entertaining this story was. I'm definitely looking forward to the next book :D

Ava write a column and is asked an uneasy question - as she has not had an org yet. When her friend and his two friends find out, they are willing to help and the fun is just beginning.
Great characters, entertaining situations, secrets, twists, revelations, steamy times, new feelings, change of status and more kept the pages turning. Loved their chemistry, personalities and how different they all are, thanks to each getting a POV. They all form a good balance that works.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Mika has done it again. Ava is a writer for a women's magazine where she writes about sex. But when she is given the assignment to write about her first O she realizes she is in trouble. For she has never had one. When her male roommate and his 2 friends accidentally see her messages to her bestie, they learn her secret.
So they decide to help her out. But how can she choose between them without causing problems? And to add another complication, her roommate is her brothers college bestie.
Amazing characters and a great storyline.

This book is a slow burn. The first couple of chapters were of us getting to know the characters. It was great but it made the book seem slow moving. We can have some action with character development. Ava our MFC is a magazine columnist who has just moved to NY and everything is going great but her boyfriend isn’t that great. Now she has to write a column about achieving the BIG O and unfortunately our heroine hasn’t ever had one. Now her three male friends Jasper, Leo and Ethan are all willing to help her achieve this goal. I enjoyed reading everyone’s POV. This was a funny and spicy book.
