This is a sci-fi fever dream wild ride in 159 pages. Martin Just wakes up from what feels like a hundred year dream, knowing he’s been transformed into one of 107 Cures for humanity, battling against Death. I really can’t describe it more than that without my brain melting. It’s weird, and it’s brevity allowed me to get through it. Not a book that leaves you many breadcrumbs to follow, you kind of have to just accept each scene as it happens. I may not be smart enough for this one, but it’s unlike anything else i’ve read this year.
Reminiscent of Stephen Kings serialized, The Green Mile, in that it’s Part One of s larger story. Seems like Mosely’s publisher—or someone in the food chain, wanted to get this out quickly. At $26 for a taste—and it’s not one of Mosely’s best, it reeks of a cash grab. Would have rather waited for the completed novel…if there is even one coming.
The first Mosely book I finished in a while. Probably because it’s limited to less than 30 characters, it’s science fiction and it’s very short.3.5 Stars
This one was too much for me - too much violence, too much science fiction, and even too much philosophy. I will have to stick to Mosely's detective novels for a while longer.
