Tom Rollins is back and we get a little more background on his days in the army. But mostly Ghost Team by Paul Heatley is all about what can happen when you go to a funeral. It is as usual a well written book and it has some twists that I didn't see coming. We also get the usual mayhem and action that readers of this great series expect. Oh, and humor. I really like this series and I'm still amazed at the rate this author produces books. This is the fourth book this year about Tom. Well done sir. I have been following this series since the start but that is not so long ago. I can really recommend that you try this series and if you get the feeling that it's similar to Reacher, forget it. The only likeness is that they both are single men roving from place to place. I am grateful to Netgalley and Inkubator books for giving me an advace copy of this book.
This book definitely starts slow. I was wondering if it was going to pickup as it’s supposed to be an action book. It does. Slow.ly, it builds until everything just explodes. I enjoyed it. I’m impressed by Tom Rollins but I really thought Lorne was incredibly brave! I was kind of hoping that Tom and Malina would stay together. #GhostTeam #NetGalley
First time reading a book by Paul Heatley and it was worth it. A bit over described at times, but it painted a good picture. Good plot, characters, and twists-n-turns galore. Will definitely read more from the author. Thanks to Netgalley and Inkubator books for the ARC and I do recommend this book when released.
In the eleventh book of the series, the author has definitely found a hit, The protagonist uses his special skills to create an action-packed thriller that keeps the reader reading with little need to suspend reality. Well-designed plot and excellent characters to populate the tale. I received an advanced copy from NetGalley and the publisher and voluntarily provided an honest review .
A military squad is pinned down in a trench in Afghanistan. Lorne Henkle, Adam’s buddy, is badly wounded by an RPG. He begs Adam to leave him and save himself.
That was a number of years ago. The pair have gone back home and are trying to make a life for their families. The small town of Samson was very peaceful until the drug lord chose this location for the control center of his drug operations. Adam and Lorne have become a real thorn in his side.
The hit squad of nine people is not expected to have a problem with them and they will take over the town as soon as the two are eliminated. The local sheriff seems incapable or unwilling to reduce the threat.
This book is very well written and points out the problems faced by many veterans who come back home to a family and community that has changed. The drug gang hit squad will not allow the town to be protected nor the business plan to fail but they did not count on special operations veterans! I thoroughly enjoyed this book. 5 stars – CE Williams
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with the opportunity to read and review this book. These thoughts and opinions are my own.
A solid 3.5. Tom Rollins is Reacher with a car! He's currently working at a diner in Colorado after having left Hayley in the last book, when he glances at a newspaper and sees an obit for a former army man who has died-Adam. He decides he needs to attend the funeral as he was one of two he saved in Afganistan nearly 10 years ago. The town is Samson, a bit out of way and also the home of the other man he saved Lorne.
Lorne now has severe PTSD and Adam has been looking out for him for years. Adam himself is seeing a therapist and neither of them think that Adam committed suicide. Tom decides to investigate and gets no help from a very disinterested Sheriff, so it's him and the therapist (an ex deputy) who begin looking into the death.
The town itself is being terrorized by a local militia that steals, threatens and just takes what it wants. Tom soon puts an end to that but they had nothing to do with Adam, why then is Tom being followed and by whom. Turns out Adam worked as a mercenary for a nasty group called Aires and that's when things explode in Samson. It's Tom and Malaki against about a dozen armed mercenaries looking for something.
It culminates with Tom getting the upper hand, discovering Adam was actually murdered and by whom and ends with new enemies- The Aires Group.
Tom is caught up in the death of an old army comrade. He saved Adam's life a decade ago and he never struck him as the suicidal type. Their buddy Lorne is also sure that Adam has been murdered. Travelling to a small town for a funeral really shouldn't let loose this much mayhem.
I've dipped in and out of this series, the books are interconnected but they can read as standalones and you'd easily fall into the world. There are plenty of action sequences and Tom even gets time to spend with a pretty Therapist. There are several big bads to take on and they may not all be working towards the same outcome.
There is also a very dark streak of humour. While Tom may superficially be seen as another Reacher type character (who I also thoroughly enjoy reading about) Tom is all about writing wrongs and slightly less strategic about it. Can't wait to read more!
Ghost Team by Paul Heatley. Tom Rollins gets news that an old Army buddy, Adam Lineker, has killed himself. A militia is based nearby, and they’re intimidating the townsfolk. Really good read. I did like Tom. Didn't like the sheriff. I did like Malani and Lorne. I do hope there is more to come. 4*.
I haven't read any of this series before but it didn't seem a problem as it works well as a standalone. We follow Tom Rollins as he travels to a small town to attend the funeral of an army colleague. There he investigates the circumstances of his death. This is a slow burner to start as the scene is set and ramps up fast as Tom gets more involved in the investigation. Well written and fast paced at the end we are rooting for Tom to solve mystery of the death. With thanks to Netgalley and the author for this ARC copy to review.
This was one of those books that I was given the opportunity to read by Paul Heatley, the folks at Inkubator books (and NetGalley, of course) but I was engrossed in another series of of books and authors during the time that I had the file available to me and i missed out.
From what I read about the book, it will remain one of the big misses that I shall regret as it sounds like it was a great book with lots of detail.
Paul Heatley definitely sounds like an author that I would be interested in reading in the future. As such, I am looking at starting the series back at book 1.
As reading book 11 of the series, I was not disappointed in the character line-up. The story line was still interesting and full of action and wondering what happened to the lost friend. Apparently, the author has been writing for some time and puts alot of research and effort in all his books. Even though the book was a long read, it stayed fast paced and action packed through to the end. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Another good story that keeps you hooked to the pages as you go along. Here Tom has received word about an old Army buddy killing himself and decides to go to the funeral. Once there he runs into another friend who does not think it was a suicide and when he begins to talk to others, especially a therapist who had worked as a deputy at one time things just don’t add up. Here this book has some action but it is a who did it at least for me, I was surprised at the end and this turned out to be a very good book with good characters once again. I received this book from Netgalley.com
I've been a big fan of this series from the get go, and have every book in my library for a reason. Why? Because Tom Rollins always looks out for the underdog, no matter the personal cost, serving justice without prejudice. Bad guys just don't stand a chance when Rollins is in the picture, and in this volume, there are no exceptions.
Packed with action, plot twists and turns, and characters you love or love to hate, makes this a compelling read. With an ending that let's you know this series is far from over, I can wait for the next one. Highly recommended!
I am never disappointed when I read a Tom Rollins book. I have read every one of them in order and always enjoy each book. There is always lots of action and this is accompanied by a great storyline with interesting characters. A big thank you to the author, Paul Heatley. I very much look forward to the next book in the series. As usual another well deserved 5 stars ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
I've read four Tom Rollins books so far and each has been just "great, memorable reading" !!
I can usually pick up on how a book ends, but........(thanks, Paul Heatley, on the "inside curve ball" that I didn't see coming !!!). You really surprised me and made me "raise my eyebrows" at the end !!!
This had all the ingredients of a terrific book. It's fast-paced, lots going on both in terms of plot and action and good characters. I devoured it in 1 sitting. What starts out as a simple funeral occasion leads Tom on a quest to discover the truth about the death of an old army buddy, of course causing trouble all steps of the way. Roll on the next one.

Love this book and all 10 that have gone before! Desperate for the next instalment. Great alternative to Jack Reacher, similar style. Yes they are dramatic and far fetched but you still get engrossed and live every minute of it as you should in a thriller! Perfect reading for me, full of action, humour and great characters. Tom Rollins keeps getting better and better!
Ghost Team, number 11 in the series is just as riveting and thrilling as the previous adventures in which Tom finds himself. This one has greed as the catalyst to the start of a murder mystery. At the end. Tom has an “open season” contract on his head by this mercenary group that’s 5,000 strong worldwide. Let’s see how he handles this.
Another great Tom Rollins Thriller! I really enjoyed this book as I have all the previous books in this series. The entire series has been filled with lots of action , great characters and this book was no exception. Tough to put it down once you get into it! I would suggest this book and all the others in this series to anyone looking for an action packed read that you will not lose interest in.
I loved everything about this book. It was intense, from beginning to end, full of pulse pounding action. Like every book in this series, it was a great read, impossible to stop once you had started it. The characters were great and the story was well told.
Buckle up. This one is full of twist and turns and stockers. It's full of loyalty, action, betrayal, and death. This author makes sure you keep turning that page with his writing because you dont want to but this one down.
I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I've fallen in love with the Tom Rollins series it seems with each new addition there's more excitement added and the situations he faces are never boring. Tom Rollins fight for justice is never ending as long as there's corruption he'll fight it till he can't fight the good cause anymore.
This Tom Rollins series had me hooked from the first book, and read consistently through to book 10. Just couldn't put it down. Now that I've finished book 11 I'm waiting for more.
Much more deep than some previous. I enjoyed it. A world of hurt coming Tom’s way with the Aries group. Will be interesting to see how he handles them or ends the series with his death.
This is an action-packed book, entertaining and easy to read, as always. This time the action is a bit more realistic, and the plot is well thought out.
Love this dude Tom Collins is always there to help old friends and give the bad guys some bad shit. Looks like he will have some bad duds after his but!!! Looking forward to see what happens next.
