I have a deep affection for mysteries that unravel gently, leaving me thrilled, satisfied, and always craving the next adventure.

Living in the beautiful Pacific Northwest with my family, our energetic Labrador, and a couple of curious cats. I draw inspiration from life's simple pleasures – walks in nature, a good book on a rainy day, and knitting cozy comforts.

When I was young I spent many long afternoons curled up with one of our cats reading Agatha Christie, and wishing I could grow up and solve mysteries like Poirot. Now I’m delighted to turn this passion into crafting each book as a personal puzzle for you to unravel.

I'm excited to welcome you to my world of whodunits, and I hope my books spark as much joy and intrigue in you as they do for me.

This is the second book in the Sparrow Haven Cozy Mystery series and I am really enjoying this series. The characters are relatable and 3 dimensional and the plot is interesting.

There is another murder in Sparrow Haven and, once again, Olive finds herself in the middle of it. This time, the victim is a prominent Rose Garden Gala sponsor, who appears to have been in good health before her untimely death. There are numerous suspects in the case, as the protagonist embarks on an emotional rollercoaster ride to discover who is to blame for the murder of this woman.

The protagonist, Olivia, is highly relatable. She is intelligent, a devoted friend, resolute, and owns a Golden Retriever. I have a fondness for canine characters in stories.

This is a series that is sure to appeal to readers who appreciate a good, clean, cozy mystery, with a cast of sympathetic characters, a canine companion, and a plot full of surprises that culminate in a satisfying conclusion. I am hoping there will be third book in the series, as I am eager to learn more about the protagonist, Olivia, and the quaint town of Sparrow Haven. I suggest reading the previous book, Mystery at the Lighthouse, first so you can get to know the characters. I think you will really enjoy this author and her way of telling a story,

Librarian Sleuth, Lovable Dog and Handsome Veterinarian
This was a light and easy clean read. The writing style is much like the spoken word, which is different than most books I read, and I found it to be slightly distracting at first. There is a typical small town, with all of the characters one would normally expect, and the drama that goes along with small-town life. When a killer strikes, librarian (and part-time amateur sleuth) Olivia Harper and her best friend Milly are drawn into the investigation along with handsome veterinarian (and Olivia's boyfriend) Ethan. Olivia receives threats but continues to pursue leads in the case which culminate in her identifying the perpetrator and bringing justice to the victim. I can't say I was a big fan of Olivia's. Her actions and thoughts, especially regarding her relationship with Ethan, did not always lend themselves to me viewing her in a positive light. I also had trouble figuring out when she actually worked at the library once the investigation began. I did like the mystery, and although I had some ideas about the perpetrator, it was much more complicated than I anticipated which was a nice surprise! I received a free copy as a member of the advance reader team, and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

A pretty good cosy mystery, and if I would give it 7 out of 10, or 3 1/2 stars if this site allowed it.

I won't go into the plot as I think it is adequately covered in the book description but I will say that it seemed strange that the police were quite willing to allow, in fact seemed to actively encourage, a librarian and her BFF to investigate a murder on their behalf, even to the extent of allowing them to collect evidence. Olivia, the librarian/main character, carries evidence bags around with her, and rarely seems to go to work.

Apart from this the characters are well-defined and interesting. The dynamics that exist between them was presumably developed in the previous book in the series but I think you can just go with the flow and don't have to have read the first book.

The plot is also well thought out, and the way in which the murder was committed was different, although whether in real life the situation would really occur is another matter. Luckily it is a small town in which many of the characters in the book have interacted before, otherwise a major plot device leading to the solving of the murder would not work.

In short, if you are a fan of cosy mysteries you will enjoy it, and probably would even if not.

This sequel to The Mystery at the Lighthouse brings back the characters of Olivia, the main protagonist, her best friend Milly, Olivia's boyfriend Ethan, and the police chief Fred. A well-liked woman Eleanor was murdered at the town's annual Rose Gala, a philanthropic event Eleanor has headed for years. Through many twists and turns, the amateur sleuths aid the police in solving the mystery. The descriptions of places, family dysfunction, and emotions are vivid and bring life to the story. There are so many suspects but our sleuths eventually figure it out. I am surprised at the police being so committed to allowing amateurs to be so involved in the investigation both in this book and the prior one. However, as a plot device, it works and one can suspend disbelief and go with the flow of this interesting story. Humor, some romance, and great friendships also enliven the story. Although I think it would helpful if the reader started with the first book for more background to the characters, this can still be read as a stand- alone. And I am looking forward to reading more in the series.

This is the second Sparrow Haven Cosy Mystery following Librarian/ amateur detective Olivia Harper, her faithful companion , golden retriever Barkley and best friend Milly . Not forgetting Olivia’s boyfriend Veterinarian Dr Ethan Foster… The town’s annual Rose Garden Gala’s wealthy sponsor Eleanor Montgomery is murdered and it’s up to our intrepid sleuths to delve into the life of the victim for clues and to track down the killer. When she gets a death threat in the form of a note and a deadly flower near her mailbox . Getting out of hand when Olivia and her bestie Milly are physically assaulted . The town is counting on them and she and Ethan grow even closer. Great series , brilliant writing style , awesome believable characters that are developing into their own and more familiar and relatable as we get to know them better , the story flows seamlessly and the sublime descriptions make for a pleasurable experience.

Olivia, boyfriend veterinarian, and best friend Millie are once again deep in the middle of an investigation. These characters, together with Detective Fred O’Malley and a host of new characters bring this chaotic case into some great twists along with some laughter. The small-town setting of Sparrow Haven is the perfect setting for this mystery. The beautiful descriptions of the scenery make you feel you’re walking along with them.

While everyone says they want the killer caught, is everyone telling the truth? Anyone holding back information? The team has a lot to dig through and deal with if they are to crack this case.

There’s also a new, romantic tension that adds a new dimension to this series. Having enjoyed the main group of characters in the first book of the series, you’ll enjoy the new quirks and silly antics amongst them.

This was an engaging and entertaining cozy mystery. While it started off a bit slow it quickly picked up and kept you wanting to read it as quickly as possible to see 'who done it'. Olivia, Milly, Ethan, Fred and of course Barkley were all well developed , likable characters. While cozy mysteries are always fairly predictable, this one offered enough twists and turns that it kept you guessing. If you like small town librarians who are also amateur detectives this book is one you will enjoy. My hope is that Olivia and Ethan's relationship will continue to evolve and that Milly will find her true love in future chapters.

Thank you to BookSirens and the Author for allowing me the opportunity to read and review this delightful cozy mystery.

Another enjoyable Sparrow Haven Cozy Mystery!!
It was nice to be back in Sparrow Haven with its quirky characters and family-like small town vibes.

Olivia, the MC, is super relatable with her Golden Retriever sidekick, Barkley, and her boyfriend, Ethan and best friend, Milly. They are great at sleuthing together. Her old friend and sheriff, Fred, respects her good instincts, although worries and begs her to stay out of the investigation. But Olivia can’t sit back and do nothing, and Milly would never let her!

The characters really carry this series. They are so well written and very clever. The mystery has you all over the place. I thought i knew, but changed my mind several times throughout. A well crafted mystery makes it so much more enjoyable!! I’m looking forward to the next book in this series!!

This is the second book in the series and I love it just as much as I did the first. Olivia, Barkley, Milly and Ethan help Fred investigate this murder. Still feels like it's a little strange that the police are so happy to have them help in a murder investigation but it's fiction. I absolutely love Barkley - goldens are fantastic dogs. So glad Olivia and Ethan are going in the right direction, can't wait to see what happens with them. This murder was fairly complicated and I didn't figure out who the killer was until the end, which is not normal for me; so I really like that about this book. This book could be read first without any issues, however, I recommend reading the first book and then coming to this book.

This plot was so engrossing, I stayed awake because I couldn't put it down. With all the right ingredients for a cozy murder mystery but with a novel storyline that drew me right in. Lots idealists and turns throughout plus side stories to develop the characters, add depth and sensory enhancement. The characters were fun, real and a very mixed bag, perfect.

I highly recommend this book for anyone who loves a good mystery with a side of humour and a great plot all brought together with a fantastic cast of people.

This is the second book in this series; I’ve also read and enjoyed the first book, but this one can stand alone well. I really like the main characters: Olivia, a librarian; her best friend, Milly; and the new veterinarian in town, Ethan, who is dating Olivia. It’s a sweet small town, but once again there’s a crime to solve and Olivia and her friends find it necessary to investigate. It’s set in a sweet small town and despite the subject matter, it’s a relaxing read. The writing is good and I look forward to the next book in the series. I can definitely recommend this book and series; I was provided an arc, which I appreciate, but these opinions are my own.

Olivia Harper and Ethan Foster go for the Rose Garden Gala held by Eleanor Montgomery and it was enchanting. Suddenly there is a scream and they find Eleanor on the ground with a glass near her. It was murder and Fred O'Malley the detective warned her not to get involved. But she couldn’t help herself as she and her friend Milly hunt around for clues. There is a lot of humour to make this a very interesting and enjoyable read. I received this book via booksirans and leave a honest review. I recommend this book to other readers.

I really enjoyed this book. I felt that the reader was able to delve more deeply into the characters of the protagonists, Olivia and Milly and also get to know the more peripheral characters like Fred the detective better as well.

I loved the murder method too and the fact that there was a large pool of suspects.

The book dealt with emotional issues like trust in relationships which I felt gave it more depth than a mere murder mystery.

All in all, I found it a very satisfying read.

Not surprising that Claire Harlow wrote another great mystery. I was so entranced by the story that I got lost in the book. Olivia, Milly, and Ethan as the amateur sleuth trio are the best. Olive needs to open up a little more to Ethan and let him in. It is obvious just how quickly he has fallen for her. Although she has been hurt, she needs to see that Ethan is not her ex and he too was hurt before. I love them together. Milly is a hoot, and I cannot wait until she finds a man who completes her;-0)

This was an easy, fun read. It’s book 2 in the series. I like the in depth descriptions of the background. It enables me to picture the locations and people in my mind.

I like the main characters. Olivia, Milly, Ethan and Fred make a good team and work through the clues logically. I did not guess all the guilty parties in this mystery but I did guess part of it.

I enjoyed reading the further adventures in Olivia and Molly's lives. Another unexpected death of the town's generous benefactor. Who would murder such a nice person? Olivia uses her relationship with Sparrow Harbors residents to help solve this murder.Even while struggling with the relationship in her personal life. The descriptions of Olivia's world helps the reader picture the scenes and people.I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Was it family or someone else that hated her? We get to read and speculate throughout the book until the ending which completely surprises you.

In a small town where everyone knows everything, how can something like a poisoning from a flower that is not native to the area be so easy to do?

Make sure read from cover to cover.

Cannot wait for the next book to come out!

Fatal Blooms

What an amazing story! The heroine is absolutely fantastic! She looks at the persons she feels could be involved in this surprising mystery! Each person who is questioned feels as if they being treated unfairly because surely No One thinks they could be the person responsible for the death of the murder! However, this murder is solved because the heroine is meticulous in searching for the correct murderer!

Olive found herself and Milly involved in another case with their detective friend, Fred. Milly was probably sorry she said she was bored, lol. I had someone in mind for the perp from early on, but I kept wavering back and forth. I liked how the girls figured out whodunit but never had to deal with a showdown. For all the craziness caused by the murder, at least everyone involved in solving the case could agree there was justice for their friend who’d died.

A charming mystery!

Fatal Blooms is a most excellent read! I enjoyed the plethora of suspects and motives - none of which solve the mystery on its own! That's a clever strategy on the author's part to challenge the reader's critical thinking skills. Olivia is a strong independent woman and I'm looking forward to seeing her sleuthing abilities and personality take shape in future books of the series. Fatal Blooms should definitely be on your list to read!

Flowers, flowers and more flowers surround many homes, residences, but nothing like the town spring flower gala. The most talkeed about plant was an oleander plant. It becomes the star plant in this story. Murder, mystery and a cascade of suspects keep Olivia, her boyfriend, her bestie and the police cheif busy, to say the least! This is a book one cannot put down, once you have started it.
