There are few things more encouraging to the believer than watching a fellow believer suffer well. When we are stripped of all our earthly comforts, securities, and loves, what remains? Christ alone. His work on the cross. His love for children. And Matt Dodd proclaimed these Truths until the day he died. No doubt, when he stood before our Heavenly Father face to face he heard “Well done good and faithful servant”. Thankful for testimonies like these of saints who have set a striking example of suffering well.

I have to admit that this is a biased review as I knew Matt, and yet the book really is very good, and I would highly recommend it (which is my criteria for a 5-star review). Cameron has a gift for words and does a beautiful job sharing truth on every page. Reading this book and remembering the amazing, joyful Matt Dodd has inspired me and invigorated my faith.

I highly recommend this book. Sometimes you will laugh, sometimes you will cry but mostly you will be encouraged by Matt’s life and striving to live faithfully and joyfully, in the midst of suffering, to His beloved Savior who was his only boast.

Oh to have joy in any circumstance that God brings our way. Whatever we have is because God has decided it was best for us. Such an encouraging and convicting read. It was sweet reading through the eyes of a member of a church that supported them while in PNG.

This book was such an encouragement!
I went to school with Matt and it was heartbreaking because I knew the end of the story, but also encouraging for the same reason. I loved how Cameron wove her experience together with Matt's journals and through it all you see Jesus... What a witness for our Lord!

Cameron is a gifted communicator, who is open and honest with her story telling.
A must read for anyone that has experienced - or is experiencing - grief. As she said in the closing pages, it is possible to have joy and for God to still be faithful in the most difficult of times.

Recommended to me by a friend who knows the family. So thankful I got to read this book. A beautiful picture of steadfast faith and a good God despite challenges of this world. Well written and put together with Matt’s journal entries, GOSPEL, call to mission, and Christian community at its best. So many good things despite a real gut wrenching situation.
