Because you can't stake a heartless vampire... Book 1: Bloody Hell It had been almost a century and a half since I last encountered anyone from the Order of the Morning Dawn. They were religious fundamentalists with the dual goal of eliminating vampires and witches. Being both a vampire and a witch I was the embodiment of everything the Order hates. Their first attempt to eliminate me failed. Thanks to the fact that my mentor in the Craft was also a necromancer. When they burned my heart they didn’t kill me. They unwittingly completed a spell that tied my existence to the soul of one who took my place in hell. Now I’m heartless, literally. Not having a heart has some advantages. It means I’m pretty resilient, especially when it comes to wooden stakes. So long as the soul bound to my existence remained in hell, I was virtually invincible. But the Order figured it out. They hope to redeem the soul who was damned in my stead. If they do that, I’ll meet the true death for sure. I have to capture the one damned in my place before the Order manages to liberate him from perdition. If they free him, I will die. I have to go to bloody hell. Also included... Book 2: Bloody A Vampire in an asylum? Like that's going to end well... Book 3: Bloody  Taking on a horde of demon possessed vampires? Time to get wicked! Book 4: Bloody  We were the terrors of New Orleans. And humanity's only hope. Book 5: Bloody  I've always been the hunter... now I'm the hunted.

Theophilus Monroe is a fantasy author with a knack for real-life characters whose supernatural experiences speak to the pangs of ordinary life. After earning his Ph.D. in Theology, he decided that academic treatises that no one will read (beyond other academics) was a dull way to spend his life. So, he began using his background in religious studies to create new worlds and forms of magic-informed by religious myths, ancient and modern-that would intrigue readers, inspire imaginations, and speak to real-world problems in fantastical ways.

Bloody Hell
I will say this spin off is awesoooooome. This book did not disappoint. We have twist and turns, the unexpected, interesting combinations of characters. Follow Mercy on her journey. We where its dark its light and she is awesome.

Bloody Mad
God, I'm so glad I could read this right after the first book. It keeps you going and wanting to keep reading. Theophilus Monroe know how to weave a story so good. Every book I have read keeps me going. Mercy is at the Asylum. Can she escape? Is there more going on then she knows? Can she keep the dark side at bay?

Bloody Wicked
OMG, suspense and more. I can not say enough about this author and how he draws you into his stories and you can not put it down, this series just keeps getting better. Now the council when will she ever be free? So much ruthlessness what will she do? Can she embrace or will she fight it till the end?

Bloody Devils
Join the adventure. Join the mystery. Join the suspense. Above all else fall into the life of Mercy and you might not ever come out. Will the prophecy come true? Will they bend on their knees? Will she accept Asmodeus help? Can she trust him? I don't want to give much away so follow along and feel what Mercy feels along with a few cry's.

Bloody Gods

Wow, Theophilus Monroe did not disappoint in this series. We have so much going on. Action, suspense and more. Who will win or who will die. Will it be her death? Can't say much because it is to easy to give to much of the plot away.

My name's Mercy Brown-but don't let my name fool you. I'm merciless.
This series is incredible! The world building is amazing, the characters are well thought out, well developed and well a little cray cray! Tons of action, tons of adventure and all sorts of supernatural beings, this was exciting, fun and a great read!

I was very intrigued by the series. The series was set in a unique world, sometimes too unique. It was hard to follow the events. They went along pretty fast with many details. It definitely helped to listen to all the books at once.
Altogether a great series for a long road trip!
The narrator did an incredible job of making the book even more thrilling.

This is my review of the audio version as posted on Audible:

Confusing at times but entertaining:)
I listened to all the books in the series separately and then re-listened as a box set - and I still liked it, which is the best recommendation for the series, I think:) But to give you a more detailed opinion, I'll partly cite myself - so here it is:

Book One - Bloody Hell
On the one hand, it was a really nice listen, one that kept me going on without much disappointment or irritation; on the other, I did not feel an urge to listen to the second part immediately after finishing the first... Two things killed the curiosity in me while listening: one, the vampire lore itself - the amount of information felt excessive and slowed the dynamics of the plot. Secondly, I felt rather indifferent to Mercy, the main heroine - I neither liked nor disliked her, her cruelty and mercilessness didn't move me at all, and she reminded me more of a naive child that hadn't yet been taught how to control emotions and impulses rather than a monster she's supposed (?) to be. But, the plot itself was quite interesting, some ideas will probably be developed later on (there's much potential there), also some of the secondary characters are very well written and the ending does make you want to find out what will happen next.

Book Two - Bloody Mad
Definitely better than book one. I still don't know if I like Mercy, but the whole bunch of new characters is an interesting and very well written crowd. Not only do they complicate Mercy's life but they also provide some really hillarious scenes, with the wacky kind of humour I like. The plot itself is fast, with Mercy locked up in an asylum, her psychiatrist trying to persuade her she is schizophrenic, and a new demonic danger in store for us, surely to be further developed in the following books. All this makes the book definitely more engaging than the previous one:)

Book Three - Bloody Wicked
The demonic possession of vampires is in full swing and Mercy seems to run against time. If she doesn't manage to figure out how to stop it, no-one will, and the world as she knows it will end. But the task is difficult as hell, and there are new enemies she has to face. Again, the plot is fast, there are quite a few nice twists and turns and the characters are fantastically written. It's definitely a character driven story, with quite a bit of sarcastic humour that adds life to it.

Book Four - Bloody Devils
In book four Mercy is still trying to figure out how to stop demons from possessing vampires, how to control her destiny, how to deal with Moll, and at the same time facing an even more challenging enemy. Legion - a demon being one in so many... The concept is not new, but it's very masterfully executed here, allowing Mercy and her weird sisters to show off a bit:) Again, characters are a definite strength of the book; they are complex, three-dimentional, real...

Book Five - Bloody Gods
The last book in the series, bringing the solution to everything that has been happening so far, is both satisfying and... disappointing. Satisfying in that all the threads, all subplots get their solution, all our questions are answered, all doubts explained. Disappointing in that it all kind of seems too simple; after looking for so long Mercy finds the solution almost by accident, and everything works out well with no big obstacles or mishaps on the way... But overall it's a very nice closure to Mercy's adventures.

The greatest strength of the whole series is the way characters are built and developed - they are full bodied, complex individuals, ambiguous at times, with secrets and hidden motifs... They surprise the readers now and again, they give us a headache sometimes when we try to guess the reasons behind their actions... This is what really kept me listening to the series:)

Narration by Ms Hazen is great throughout the series. She adds life to the books, the voices of individual characters match their personalities and the pace of her reading is OK. It's a great interpretation of the series.

And one more thing: with how the final book ends, there's room for some more of Mercy Brown and her friends for the future...:) And I wouldn't say NO to meeting them again...:)

Let the binge begin! The Legacy of a Vampire Witch 1-5 is here - all five stunning vampiric audiobooks by Theophilus Monroe in one set. Hooray!

What a treat recording this series has been. What narrator wouldn't want to run the aural gamut of the mystical, magical world - from fiend to ogre, beldam to beast. I think vampires are kinda my thing! Theophilus Monroe has given us a dazzling array of creatures and personalities all looming in the eerie light and shadow of New Orleans. NOLA offers the perfect tone for Mercy Brown and her wild crew. It gave me rich inspiration from which to conjure this world.

The Legacy of a Vampire Witch 1-5 is exactly that - Mercy's journey; her saga from colonial child, through fabulously spoiled party girl, to introspective and accountable woman.
Just as Mercy's character matures and develops, so do the trials and tribulations of this series. Bloody Hell Book #1 finds Mercy in the swing of her vampire lifestyle. But family history intervenes with her happy nights. She travels to hell and her nightmare begins. Her trip lands her in Vilokan Asylum for The Magically and Mentally Deranged and Bloody Mad Book #2 begins. While in the Asylum she learns of a true threat to everything she knows and ... well, likes a little bit. Werewolves and elementals abound. Mercy begins her love hate doctor/patient relationship with mankind's original murderer turned shrink. And the source of the true threat is revealed. Bloody Wicked Book #3 really explodes, with voodoo priestesses come back from the dead, Cajun werewolves, and NOLA at its best. Mercy must venture into the swampy bayous of Louisiana to procure the one device that will help her right the evil wrongs. A ghost and priest come to her aid. Bloody Devils Book #4 shows Mercy the errors of the way she's been instructed to follow. Not all is as it seems. Mercy draws on a deeper strength. She calls in even greater forces to champion and defend the Arrogant Defenseless.Bloody Gods Book #5 brings the conflict to a bloody and surprising end as Mercy battles the greatest of all Evil and someone she thought was family. Destiny takes a hard right. Mercy's prospects have a new dimension.

The Legacy of a Vampire Witch 1-5 drives relentlessly through each of its five books to a brilliant climax, a satisfying denouement with the required devilish Mercy Brown grin. The plot thickens as each book develops with just the right amount of hemoglobin. All five books in one 'coffin' is the ideal way to 'digest' this bloody good voyage.

The Legacy of a Vampire Witch: The Complete Urban Fantasy Boxset has five books. The books can be read as a standalone, but in doing so, you miss the nuances from reading one book into the next. Like the Voodoo Legacy series, Theophilus Monroe writes with a good mix of humor, drama, and paranormal action. There is some romance, but it flows naturally and is never the sole focus for the characters. Some of the characters in these books are crossovers from the Voodoo Legacy series. They help fill in as parts of the story in the first book, Bloody Hell, take us back to the Voodoo Academy. Once again, we see a world in which the paranormal exists and feels quite natural and real. The author does the same with the characters. Even though they are beings with supernatural powers, they also feel like folks you might know. They are believable, and you do root for them. What is especially awesome is that the female characters are always quite fierce. In this boxset, vampire witch Mercy Brown is the star. She is the one that you love to hate because she is so evil, but sometimes, you see her vulnerabilities, and you hope for the best for her, though she does make it difficult to empathize with her. She is consistently making her undead existence complicated.

Bloody Hell begins in a strange place. Frenemies Annabelle Mulledy, Voodoo Queen, and Mercy are in hell. Annabelle, of course, has great intentions and is fulfilling a promise to run an errand. Mercy is her deceitful and selfish self and is there for reasons other than what she tells Annabelle. We are then transported into Mercy's past, where we learn about her as a witch and how and why she was turned. We also find out what really happened with her brother Edwin and just how horrible a person her father was to her. There is one adventure after another with Mercy as she grows into her life as an undead, and we see her relationship with Nico develop. We also meet the Order of the Morning Dawn, a strange group of people that will make Mercy's undead life miserable. Let's also not forget the fact that Mercy's boyfriend, Ramon, happens to be a vampire serial killer that goes around dismembering people because it makes their blood taste better! That even disturbed other vampires. This book is a great mix of Mercy's past and some of the happenings in the present, some at the Voodoo Academy. It is also a good setup for book two, Bloody Mad, as in crazy, which is the state Mercy really may find herself in. Crazy happens when a vampire witch messes with voodoo and goes to hell to capture someone only to be possessed herself. Who knew that was a thing?!

I had to laugh when the Vilokan Asylum for the Magically and Mentally Deranged was introduced in the second book, Bloody Mad. What kind of imagination does it take to come up with a place like that? Then again, with Mercy talking out loud to the voice in her head, who happens to be a tortured soul trapped in her head telling her to do horrible things, an asylum is necessary, but not this place. It is not at all what it seems. The plot becomes quite thick, and Mercy finds herself knee-deep in trouble and even trying to do the right thing, mostly.

Like the other two books in the series, books three, Bloody Wicked, and four, Bloody Devils, begin where the previous book ends. The storylines are full of paranormal action, humor, twists, betrayals, surprises, suspense, and drama. There is also a huge cast of supernatural beings as we see everything from witches, werewolves, vampires, ghosts, demons, angels, and more. It makes you believe that the paranormal world exists and is quite full of fascinating and strange beings. I even found myself rooting for Mercy, which is not an easy thing to do, and the Weird Sisters. I love that Mercy got together with two other powerful female characters, another vampire and a ghost, to kick some supernatural butt. You will root for them, especially as they take on some intense challenges.

In the fifth and final book of the boxset, Bloody Gods, we see characters return that we thought were dead. Then again, this is the paranormal, so perhaps no being truly ever ceases to exist. There are also Old Gods and all kinds of paranormal beings, along with the Weird Sisters, rooting for my girls again! The battle is epic, and you are so drawn into this storyline that you will not want to put the book down until the very last page. This was my favorite of all of the books, but I encourage you to read them all. This is an awesomely entertaining series that takes you on a trip through the paranormal that will have you laughing, tensing up, praying, gasping, and loving every minute.

The Legacy of a Vampire Witch 1-5 (The Legacy of a Vampire Witch #1-5) was a great read by Theophilus Monroe. This consists of; Bloody Hell, Bloody Mad, Bloody Wicked, Bloody Devils, and Bloody Gods. Bloody Hell (The Legacy of a Vampire Witch #1) by Theophilus Monroe. Mercy is a vampire and a witch. She has died twice. The first time was when she became a vampire. The second was when her father had her heart cut out of her chest. Luckily for Mercy, her guide in the craft, had other ideas. The essence of her heart is now bound to her brothers soul. The Order of the Morning Dawn will stop at nothing to make sure she's eliminated. Mercy must go to hell and capture her brother's soul if she wants to survive. I enjoyed listening to Kelley Hazen's narrations and the life she brought to the characters. Bloody Mad (The Legacy of a Vampire Witch #2) was a great read by Theophilus Monroe. There is something demonic that is infecting humans and it is spreading to vampires when they feed. Mercy contracts the infection and her brother takes over her and goes on a rampage through the French Quarter. Mercy is locked up in the Vilokan Asylum for the Magically and Mentally Deranged. She is now back in control of her own body and starts plotting her escape. Bloody Wicked (The Legacy of a Vampire Witch #3) was a great read by Theophilus Monroe. Mercy Brown finds herself running from the Vampire Council after she was too late to tell them of a plague that threatened all of vampire kind. Too bad she can't access the infernal power that Edwin brought with him when he bound himself to her in hell. The only thing that could help her tap into the power is a flambeaux once made by the Witch of Endor. But it is guarded by Cajun werewolves and the nasty ghost of a voodoo priestess. Bloody Devils (The Legacy of a Vampire Witch #4) was a good read by Theophilus Monroe. The weird sisters are two vampires and a re-materialized ghost. They are not only terrors of New Orleans, but also humanity's only hope. Unfortunately Asmodeus has found a new host. There is also a new demon who inhabits multiple hosts at a time and seems to be multiplying himself by the minute. The sisters are able to take the demons out but not as quickly as they are reproducing. Bloody Gods (The Legacy of a Vampire Witch #5) was a good read by Theophilus Monroe. The weird sisters are the terrors of New Orleans and humanity's only hope. Asmodeus is back and found a new host. He now wants to work with the sisters. Legion is a new demon on the scene. He claims multiple hosts at once and is quickly replicating himself. Asmodeus says that he can help them take Legion down. Although Mercy doesn't want to take Asmodeus' help, she knows that if she doesn't accept his help than they are as good as done. I loved listening to Kelley Hazen's story and can't wait to read more by the author.

Bloody Hell.

Another great book by Theo! This is the first in the series following Mercy Brown, a vampire witch, while also continuing the story begun with the Gates of Eden set, then continued with the Wyrmrider set. This is also the 4th book in the Gates of Eden Starter Library if you can cope with reading just the first book of each box set 😉
This is another really strong story which can be read as the start of the set or in sequence with the other sets and I’m really looking forward to reading the next book, Bloody Mad.

Bloody Mad.

The story continues, following Mercy as she is admitted to Dr Cain's asylum in Vilokan. We meet some new characters as well as reuniting with some older ones. Mercy is desperate to escape the asylum but just as she thinks she's found away, things change! Meanwhile there are demons on the loose who have it in for vampires...
Another awesome book in the series following on from the Voodoo Legacy series, I really can't get enough of these books...next!

Bloody Wicked.

I don't know what more to say about these books and series, they are truly addictive and totally unputdownable! Demons are inhabiting vampires and Mercy is the only one who can stop them. Even more twists and turns ensue in this gripping sequel that really keeps you craving more

Bloody Devils.

Just when you think the story can’t get any better, it does! Demons are taking over New Orleans, creating new vampires and inhabiting their bodies, but how can The Weird Sisters defeat them?
Follow the twists and turns as they try to follow the prophecy and harness infernal magic, but all is not as it seems… some ‘people’ are not who they say they are and things start to go horribly wrong. What can Mercy do to sort out the mess and start to make things right again?

Another gripping book in the Vampire Legacy series from Theophilus Monroe, i really can’t wait to see how everything turns out in the last book in the series!

Bloody Gods.

The demons are running riot, Legion is a formidable foe and Moll has shown her true allegiance. The Weird Sisters have invoked the Morrigan and the 3 factions of the Morrigan have each aligned themselves with one of the sisters but will that be enough to defeat Moll, Lucifer and all the Demons?
An old acquaintance of Mercy and a new relative help and does Père Pedro hold the key to salvation?
This fast paced story is the last in the Vampire Legacy series and did not disappoint, full of twists and surprises that stopped me from putting the book down!

A 'Bloody' Good Listen

Bloody Hell

We start off with how Mercy Brown, a witch, became a vampire witch and how she doesn't have a heart - literally, so she's very hard to kill.

Unfortunately, her little brother didn't fare too well in that deal as her soul in now tied to him in hell.

Plenty of action and sass. And a betrayal at the end leaves Mercy's brother residing in her which causes no end of trouble.

Bloody Mad

Mercy unknowingly drinks infected blood which lets Edwin loose and sends Mercy mad and she ends up on a bloody rampage. The result - she ends up in an asylum. There she meets Nyx, or Nickie as she's known in her own series.

We meet Cain, the first murderer who is now a doctor and runs the asylum.

Mercy plots her escape with the help of an unexpected person.

Bloody Wicked

The infections are increasing, Mercy doesn't know who to trust anymore. She heads out to New Orleans to get an object which is supposed to help stop the infections. More surprises are in store for Mercy and a betrayal which shatters her.

Bloody Devils

Mercy, Haley and Julie find out that Asmondus is still alive and has inhabited another body and he wants to join forces with the trio, but are his intentions true or is he after something?

The Order of the Morning Dawn are hot on their trail too so they are trying to evade several foes at once whilst trying to stop Legion, who is infecting the vampires to clone himself.

Bloody Gods

The climactic conclusion of Mercy's story is fast paced, again more betrayals - will the Weird Sisters win against all the odds stacked against them?

These books are amazing, great characters and storyline. Kept me entertained.

I loved the narration with the audio effects.

Meet Mercy, a vampire like no other......

Bloody Hell - I liked this story that was about a vampire witch. It was well written and easily addicting. It kept me reading just to see what would happen next, what secrets would pop up, and what twist would happen next. The twists and turns and magic was great. Loved the characters too.

Bloody Mad - I liked this book as I got to learn more about Mercy and see her become more like a "normal" person with friends, a love, and working on her relationship with her brother, you know the usual. Of course there are twists, craziness, dangers, and Mercy being Mercy. Just a well written book that kept me glued to the end and well entertained and guessing what will happen next. Loved it.

Bloody Devils - Mercy is back again for another entertaining adventure. It was a wild ride with new and old characters showing up. And Asmodeus is back too which was funny. Still Mercy is a crazy heroine for this tale and the situations she ends up in were funny. There was action, betrayal, friends, enemies and demons. So I was entertained and read to the end to see what was going to happen next.

Bloody Gods - Mercy is back and in trouble again as usual. This time things are a bit more dire and she must go back and hope her enemies will aide her with what is coming... Moll. It was a fun read full of action, danger, gods, magic, vampires and all the other fun characters from past books. It was fun to read to see what Mercy ends up facing and what decisions she and the others will make this time.

Original and action packed

I have read a novelle and book 8 of the series before. But since this bundle starts with book one,  I expected to learn more about how Mercy became who she was and developed her skills.

However the start situation is about the same as I got to know her. But since she mentions certain previous adventures with some other characters from this authors books, I suspect it might be a spin off and that, if I want to know more about Mercy I might have to pick up some other series also. I love Mercy. She is violent and crude sometimes but her heart is in the right place and she is very protective and brave. The secondary characters are, in their own way, all also very sympathetic. Except for the villains of course, but their motivations are also very believable

The books in this bundle could partly be read separately but I would really recommend reading them just like they are presented here, 1 to 5, because they are a continuation of the story and together form one long and exciting adventure.  But to keep it interesting, the adversaries change a little and come in all kind of variations.

The pace of the books was high, but never too fast to keep up. A real page turner that kept me to the edge of my seat  All books are very different and never get predictable. My favorite is: Bloody queen, which differs a little bit and could be read as a stand alone.

.I was first introduced to Mercy Brown in Theophilus Monroe’s Voodoo Academy. When I ran across that academy I just had to have it. My impression of Mercy from that series led me to thank of her as someone with an attitude, willing to fight along side of the witches only because they had a deal. When I began to read this series I knew there was a lot more to Wendy and how she came to be then I thought. A quick run down of each novel without giving away the plot line. First couple of novels focus on how she became a vampire, how was involved in her non-life. Novels 3-5 are tunning and will capture you if you were not hooked before. Novels 4 and 5 will have you befriending Mercy and feeling a bit of self-rightous. You will want to be in her corner feeling connected for. Understanding what Mercy has had to go threw and knowing that both her life and non-life have been difficult. I absolutely loved this series. Actually I have loved everything I have read by this author. Theophilus Monroe’s has a way of crafting his story, masterfully interwoven with progressive world building, action, and delving deeply into his characters persona without overdoing one thing or another. I highly recommend this boxset. I gave this honest, voluntary review after being given a free copy of the book.

The Legacy of a Vampire Witch is a cleverly written and well-crafted urban fantasy containing some dark elements. As soon as I started the first book, I was hooked; my attention was totally captured and held through the very end of the boxset. Theophilus Monroe is a talented author creating a fascinating world with colourful and multi-faceted characters. The series premise is unique, dark, and especially interesting. The storyline is rich, entertaining, and exciting, with enough surprising twists to keep you guessing and on the very edge of your seat. Mercy Brown is a competent, capable, strong, and clever vampire witch, a rare creature. At Nineteen-years of age, her destiny was forever altered when she contracted consumption. Desperate not to meet her deceased mother and sister's fates, and with the aid of her witch trainer, Moll, she agrees to become a vampire. Later, she faces numerous challenges and hindrances, including treachery, battling deadly supernatural creatures and forces, and so much more. I definitely enjoyed the ride!

Kelley Hazen did an excellent job with the narration, breathing life into the characters and making the story even more engaging. Legacy of a Vampire Witch series is a fantastic listen with no dull moments. I'm highly recommending the series.

Book 2: Bloody Mad: A Vampire in an asylum? Like that's going to end well...
Book 3: Bloody Wicked: Taking on a horde of demon possessed vampires? Time to get wicked!
Book 4: Bloody Devils: We were the terrors of New Orleans. And humanity's only hope.
Book 5: Bloody Gods: I've always been the hunter... now I'm the hunted.

I really enjoyed these books and Mercy Brown’s attitude and demeanor make her an instant hero! As a vampire-witch hybrid, she is a tough lady who will never give up without giving it her all! You just know she will have your back in any difficult situation! If you haven’t met her yet, what are you waiting for?

Bloody Hell: A Dark Urban Fantasy Story (The Legacy of a Vampire Witch Book 1). A well written & enjoyable read.

Bloody Mad (The Legacy of a Vampire Witch #2). Another well written & enjoyable read/listen.
Bloody Wicked: The Legacy of a Vampire Witch, Book 3. Another well written & enjoyable read/listen.
Bloody Devils: A Dark Urban Fantasy Story (The Legacy of a Vampire Witch Book 4). Another well written & enjoyable read/listen.
Bloody Gods: A Dark Urban Fantasy Story (The Legacy of a Vampire Witch Book 5), my twelfth read from author Theophilus Monroe. Another well written & enjoyable read/listen. I was given an Audible copy of this book & am voluntarily reviewing it. Kelley Hazen's narration again adds to the enjoyment of the book. I look forward to my next read from this author and still need to figure out the order to read since the books all seem interrelated. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

Received as an audio review copy from Story Origin, this is an honest review. Narrated by the wickedly brilliant Kelley Hazen gives this already colorful series with intriguingly eccentric characters a deeper, realistic edge. Mercy already had a complicated life of a gifted witch living in 1892 and dying of consumption... or at least would have if not for her coven and a odd, mysterious vampire called Nico changes her life by turning Mercy into an immortal vampire witch. Through five books, Mercy learns to navigate the bizarre and beautifully confounding world of what it means to be a vampire: not an easy feat when the list of blood is a constant urge to fill. Then there's the obsessive group Order of the Rising Dawn and their desire to destroy vampires and witches alike. A fiery, witty journey, giving both witches and vampires a gritty, dark view that's wondrously memorable. Highly recommended.

Mercy is a great character. She's complex and flawed. Her character grows throughout the series. There's a whole cast of supporting characters with their own interesting backstories.

I liked how this series of books crossed over with other series. The world building is in-depth and there's a lot to remember, but it's easy to follow as the characters figure things out about the origins and limitations of vampires, demons, druids, Fae, and shifters.

The books are full of adventure, betrayal, drama, and humor. Sometimes things get a bit dark, but I think that's fitting for a vampire series. Mercy tries to do the right thing, if not always for the right reasons, but she doesn't always succeed, and there are consequences for her choices. One of the things I like about her is she never shied away from that.

Kelley Hazen narrated the entire series, and the continuity was perfect. She did a fabulous job with all the different characters and narration.

As a vampire Mercy goes on an emotional journey and realization. Everyone from her previous life as a human has betrayed her but she doesn't take it lying down. She eventually realizes even vampires with no heart still have feelings, and even falls in love...or what she considers love. In a bid to right the wrongs of Moll and Lucifer she enlists the help of a few people she considers close to her. Along the way, she finds long lost family, friendship, and possibly love. This five book collection is a wild ride of Mercy's adventure. She's got a killer attitude, and is all around bad**s. The supporting characters in the series are all unique and well written. I can't wait for the next series with Nix.

A binge worthy series. Monroe provides us with a well written paranormal series and then makes it even better by giving it to us in audio format with narration that is perfectly done. Captivating from the start - this collection includes books 1-5 and once you start, you won't be able to stop! Our main character is Mercy and I just fell in love with her and her snark -iness which added a level of humor that made this all the more perfect! Loved this series!

Review for the audiobook version.

I have to admit that this set started a bit slow for me, but it slowly drew me in, and then the action and adventure kicked in and I was hooked. I loved Mercy, and her feistiness, snark and humor. All the other characters were great, too. Fantastic series that I highly recommend for anyone who likes vampires, witches, werewolves, demons and other supernatural phenomenon.

The narrator took me a little while to get used to, like the story, but she really suited the story.

Theophilus Monroe has written five creative stories featuring a vampire witch. I enjoyed this omnibus which told Mercy Brown's story. The stories were convoluted and humorous. The characters were dark, complex, and amusing. Each book builds on the one before it, so although book one started a little dry, it was necessary to set up the world building and provide some history. There was some limited use of foul language in the tales. Kelley Hazen's narration was excellent. Her oration was entertaining and added to the story's playfulness. I was given a free copy of the audiobook and I have voluntarily posted this review.

This series is bloody exceptional! Fantastsic series revolving around vampires witches and littke bit of voodoo a very intriguing storyline! I have followed this series from start to end and absolutely love it! I am fascinated by the not nearly so evil Mercy as she likes to think. Mercy is a complex endearing character that is as redeemable as she is wickedish! This series is very unpredictable in a good way! I from start to finish I was reading late into the night. A must read for anyone looking for a well written, unpredictable and entertaining series!

At this stage I have only had time to read the first book in the boxset so this review is based on that book.

I found the premise of a witch turned vampire to be intriguing, add in the removal of said witch's heart and you have a vampire that is very hard to kill.
Monroe adds a new element to the story with the concept of 'staking and unstaking' vampires. Staking a vampire is not as fatal as one may initially belive as removing the stake allows the vampire to return to the ranks of the undead. Being staked can therefore be used as a form of timeout for vampires.

Couldn't finish it

It's an interesting premise, but there's very little context. Occasionally you get told what building they're in, no atmosphere or anything. Did they walk, run, ride a horse, steal a time machine? We will never know. What do the characters look like, what are they wearing, do they have facial expressions? No idea. It's just one very long conversation. Then they are somewhere else, usually with no idea how they got there, and the conversation continues.

Very unexpected turn of events and lots of twists n turns. You won’t know what will happen next in these suspenseful, captivating books. A bing read for sure! I hated having to wait for each book...lol.

Each character grows and evolves in each book. You’ll love all the things that happen to Mercy or that she gets involved in. She can be funny. Highly recommend reading this series!
