Olivia doesn't believe in happily-ever-afters. Tales like that only happen in children’s storybooks. The real world is a harsh, unforgiving place where true love is fiction—Or so she thought.
A chance encounter with a meddling woman catapults Olivia into a whimsical fairy-tale realm, with her playing the part of the reluctant protagonist. Trapped in a land of make-believe, Olivia must navigate each story in her search for a way out.
Within the chapters, she meets Jerron, a fellow romance-jaded captive whose belief in love has dwindled with every scripted romance. Bound by their desire to escape, they team up and discover happiness may be the key to returning home.
Somewhere, among the pages of their adventure, the connection between the pair deepens and their views on love and destiny begin to shift. As they attempt to rewrite a new ending, they come face-to-face with a malevolent darkness lurking within the realm.
Every fairy tale has its villain, and this one seeks to corrupt them… or kill them.
If you like FAIRY TALES, this novel has three in it. Each tale has the same three main characters: Olivia, a woman in denial; Jerron, a man wanting to return home; and Nancy, a controlling fairy godmother.
Olivia and Jerron are in a realm of confusion because of individual accidents. The two meet in one tale, and according to Nancy, they must learn more about love to go home and be released from her control.
Olivia and Jerron learn their lessons gradually, but she learns faster. She returns home, and the tales are over, but there is no Jerron on her return.
This return leads to a heartwarming ending that will be enjoyed by those who love fairy tales and romance novels. It is a well-written and exciting novel leading into a series.
Wow! What a fantastic story! I loved the characters and the fresh angle of classic fairy tales. I thought I knew what to expect and couldn’t have been more wrong. Definitely a good one if you’re looking for a fun read!
A fun twist on fairytales with good characters, great plot, and romance. Definitely going to read the other books connected to this one. Very happy with this stuff your kindle day freebie!
"Our lives are like a movie. In our own story we are the main character. In other people's story we may be a supporting character or a background character. Everyone influences our lives to different extents, and so we need to decide how we want to be reflected in everyone else's story."
Really enjoyed this twisty fairytale maze. In the beginning, Olivia is with her sister shopping for wedding dresses. She meets this nosy woman who ascertains Olivia doesnt believe in happily ever after. This is dulled by previous experiences. Next thing we know, Olivia falls out of this window (trying to get a cat) and lands in this story book world. Here she finds out each time she wakes up its a different fairytale. However, she must end the story correctly or she repeats it over till she gets it right. There are also other ways to skip to another story. Little does she know there is a guy named Jerron subjected to the same thing. Oh and the nosy woman is there too. There's also a helpful wolf and a evil prince. Do they ever get out? Find love? Readers will be awarded a whimsical voyage. This book is what dreams are made of.
When I was finished reading this book I was sad it was over it was such an amazing story and one of my favorites of 2023. Kristy Dixon is an awesome author and I’ve read all her other books this was my favorite by far but I say 5 stars to her other books as well anything by Kristy Dixon is a 5 star book.
Prince Charming is what every girl dreams of, right? We all want to be whisked away, fall madly in love, and live happily ever after. However, after a few dates in the real world, we all know that fairy tales are a lot harder to achieve than it seems in those books we have read. Olivia has been burned one too many times, and she is cynical and done with love. Unfortunately, she has to fake it for her sister who is getting married, and as hard as she tries, her negativity prevails. That is, until she meets a woman who decides she needs a jolt of fantasy to find true love. Olivia is suddenly whisked away to the land of fairy tales where she is forced to experience the stories and find out what it means to trust and love someone else, and more importantly, yourself.
Kristy Dixon continues to engage me as a reader. Her stories are based on character building and each time, I am in awe at the way she draws me within the first few chapters. More Than Once Upon a Time capitalizes on the fairy tale craze but adds a different twist to the story. I loved following Olivia around and could absolutely relate to her cynicism and doubt. The interactions between Olivia and Jerron were natural, and while I think every reader will predict how this story will end, it doesn’t stop you from wanting to read it to make sure. I am anxiously awaiting the second book in the series!
Warm and sweet read. Very fresh approach to fairytales and modern people and their attitude. I was a bit apprehensive about it being a clean read as Im dabbing in a bit of different subcjects recently ;) , will it hold my interest. I can honestly say that, Kristy has done a really good job here. Her writing is good, story makes sens and keeps you hooked and invested . I like the plot and main characters attitude , their growth and missteps. It was so nice to read about my childhood stories with a twist. Very refreshing and entertaining. A really good pallet cleanser :) Job well done , i might to have a look in other stories from K.Dixon in the future.
This is such a cool book! I'm a huge fairytale fan — always have been. But fairytales with a twist? Omg, I love it! The story had me hooked from the beginning with fun characters and humorous adventures. The world-building was super creative, and I loved how familiar elements were turned upside down in the best way possible.
It felt whimsical and fresh, but also managed to sneak in some heartfelt moments and emotional depth. I also really enjoyed the pacing — it never dragged, and I constantly wanted to know what would happen next. A magical, clever, and entertaining read I’d definitely recommend to fellow fairytale lovers!
Kristy Dixon's storytelling is like a cozy chat by the fireplace. She weaves fairy tales that feel real and introduces characters you can't help but fall in love with. As I turned the pages, I found Olivia and Jerron's love story to be the constant, the heart of the story amidst the ever-changing backdrop. And in the end, the Princess got her Prince Charming without the need for any frog-kissing shenanigans. It's a charming and heartwarming read that'll make you smile. I received an ARC copy of this book at no cost in return for an honest review
This may be the first book I've read by this author, and due to the number of books I read, I usually only read new authors with a high number of ratings. At the time, this book had few ratings but it caught my attention. I'm glad I didn't pass it up. I really enjoyed following Olivia and Jerron through their adventures. I won't go into a description of the story because I don't want to give away more than what is in the official description, but I would highly recommend to anyone who enjoys the retelling of fairy tales.
I gave three starts because the storyline had potential but it was hard to get invested into the characters. The character development wasn’t great and within the first meeting of Jerron and Olivia, they already had drastic feelings for each other. They could have eased into it to make it more realistic but I guess they were in a fairytale land 🤷🏼♀️ I did, however, like the different fairytales within and the different take on the originals.
More Than Once Upon a Time was such a fun, engaging story! I've read a different book about a modern girl getting trapped in a fairytale as Cinderella--and I absolutely love it--but it was great to have Olivia & Jerron go through several different fairytales and trying to figure them out before the characters did. I can't say I'm looking forward to reading the next book about the older wicked stepsister, Lottie, but I'm very curious how it'll play out...
I wasn’t expecting to enjoy this story as much as I did but I loved Olivia and Jerron and seeing them fall in love overtime was beautiful and seeing what they were willing to do to be together. The book did drag on for just a bit too long for my personal preference and the characters to go in circles quite a bit but nonetheless it was entertaining and a good read! Also the ending was so good! It was a fun way to have magical fairytale elements in a love story with a twist!
I really wanted to like this book, but it didn't work for me. The problem, I think, was that I just didn't like the characters. Not believing in happy ever after, Jerron and Olivia, are sent into a fairy tale. They don't really understand why, and I can't understand their total lack of an ability to find anything happy. It's as if they have no emotion except negative. A sad and depressing way to go thru life and not a book I enjoy.
This was really cute. A clean YA story about a girl who doesn't believe in love. Olivia gets stuck in a fairytale thanks to a fairy godmother, who means well but her ways are questionable. We all know the fairytale 'retellings' but this wasn't a retelling. I found this a very refreshing way of incorporating some classic fairytales we all grew up with.
I really liked these two characters. I hope Nancy learns a lesson too. I wonder if the next book will show Nancy checking on people. In any cas, Olivia and Jerron were great characters and I really liked the way their story unfolded. Clean and fun story. Great for all ages.
This story was fun with some anxiety’s because of the unknown. Was this a real fairytale or was it a really good dream? Read this story so you may come to your own conclusion. A fun, fast read which I recommend to anyone interested in a light and fun story.
I thought the premise of bouncing between fairytales is really fun and entertaining but I feel like it’s missing an ending.
Turns out it is a part of a series and that’s why it doesn’t feel finished but I don’t care enough to read the other installations so I’ll just never know.
This was a wonderful, fun, story that I couldn’t put down. I love finding fun and clean stories that I can happily recommend to my friends. Don’t start it if you have other things that must be done!
Very creative. The characters were believable and relatable. Thoroughly enjoyed reading it. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading.
