I don’t give one-star ratings lightly, but this one just didn’t work for me—though I was at least thankful it was short. The writing felt extremely repetitive, with the same phrases and descriptions appearing again just a few sentences apart, which constantly pulled me out of the story.
On top of that, there were moments where the physical descriptions simply didn’t make sense (you can’t get on your knees a second time when you’re already there), and those inconsistencies made it hard to stay immersed.
Overall, this felt rushed and unpolished, and the repetition outweighed any holiday charm it was trying to deliver.
I’ll Be Home for Christmas is book 1 in the Coming Home For Christmas series by Sylvia McDaniel and what a great start!
Snow, Blizzard, stranded, insta love and finding where you really belong when life throws you snowballs! Can’t wait for the next book, which sister will it be?

When one thing goes wrong, it can sometimes seem that a giant snowball of grief comes rolling down the hill toward you. Olivia Miller has lost her job, witnessed her cheating now-ex-fiancé in bed with her co-worker, and has a car accident trying to avoid an elk while on the way home to see her parents at Christmas! Fortunately, Lucas Peterson saw the accident and is able to offer help to the injured woman. An ambulance would take many hours to get to them, so he checks her wounds and invites her to shelter with him at his ranch during the horrendous snowstorm since he lives right down the road. Both of them are dealing with their personal losses, as he has lost his parents, but being with each other in this special time of year, will they come together and begin to heal, acknowledging their loss and finding comfort spending time with each other? Can they welcome sharing a new beginning and a HEA?
This is a heartwarming Christmas romance with strong characters in Olivia and Lucas. The author takes you into their lives with loss and finding love. She moves the story quickly and smoothly with her perfectly painted scenes and delivers a sweet holiday romance. Loved it!

What would a Christmas romance book be without a blizzard forcing the characters to meet and get stuck with each other? It always makes me question why one would be on the road when the weather forecast strongly warns about dangerous driving conditions, and yeah, it´s an all too common trope, but hey, I´m still a sucker for it.
And of course, Lucas is 6 feet tall… Sigh… Do they all have to be? What´s wrong with shorter men? That´s one cliché I wish would die a quick death, along with the 6, 8 or -gasp, let´s outdo them both- 10-pack abs lol. Fortunately, Lucas has muscles that ripple, and a body that´s rock solid instead, so that was perfectly alright with me! More importantly, he´s a good man. It´s all that matters in the end. ;)
All in all, I enjoyed the story. A little too much ‟he/she did this, he/she felt that” and not enough feeling for my taste… too much saying what they were feeling and not showing it enough instead. There´s a time and a place for both, but I´m of a mind that thoughts about emotions are the proper time to go deeper. But it was still a nice, easy read regardless.
My favorite parts were chapter 15. I felt it actually flowed much better and touched on deeper emotions than the rest. And chapter 16, when Olivia got to give her ex a piece of her mind and send him packing.
I´m still not quite sure what chapter 17 was doing in this story… I mean, aside from introducing the next hookup, I guess. It just felt completely jarring to go from Lucas and Olivia´s story to Olivia´s sister getting stranded at the airport because of the same blizzard. What on earth did it have to do with the rest of the book? It completely negated all the good feelings I had about the previous 2 chapters.
If it had been followed by her arriving at the house to celebrate with everyone, sure, that´d have been okay… a little strange, but okay. But it´s a different story entirely, and we never go back to Olivia and Lucas afterwards.
It really confused the heck out of me. I would have much preferred an epilogue with the twins arriving so that we´d find out what that happy surprise was that her mother wanted to talk to everyone about. We hear about that mystery announcement throughout the story, after all... It's even the reason why Olivia was on the road in the first place. It would have been logical to end the story with it, while she introduced Lucas to her family.
Introducing Emma's story after the end of the book would have been better, in my opinion. Like with the Joshua book excerpt that came right after.
Anyway, that's just my opinion. Others might find it interesting. But I wish I hadn't read chapter 17, so that I could have stayed with the good vibes of Lucas and Olivia's story.

Olivia along with her two sisters had been requested by their parents to come home for Christmas, but she waited to long for her boyfriend that was in bed with his co-worker so she got caught in the blizzard. She had an accident as a result of an Elk standing in the road, and she slammed on the brakes causing her vehicle to fishtail. She tried to correct the problem, but she still hit a snow bank. Luckily someone was behind her to assist her that lived nearby. Lucas Peterson was immediately drawn to Olivia wanting to take her in his arms and protect her. He took her to his ranch that was close by, but he had to reassure her he meant her no harm. She had had the worst day possible and stress wise could not take much more. He realized that she was going to become very important in his life so he was giving her space to become comfortable with him that she was in safe surroundings. They needed to build trust between them. Lucas was a lonely rancher that had lost his entire family at once trying to rebuild his life one emotion at a time. He knew what rock bottom looked like from grief. Olivia took several hits from different directions in her life all in the same day of her boyfriend cheating on her, getting fired from her job, and having to go home for Christmas with over achieving sisters. Insta-love with forced proximity in the middle of a Montana blizzard. The story line was similar to a book I had read before, but it still was a wonderful experience.

I thought this was going to be a nice, cute, holiday romance. I got 47% through the book before I had to DNF. In that 47% I had to make 3 content error reports through Kindle for repeated sentences.
I had a lot of problems with the mindset of the main male character.
"He had the most incredible urge to kiss her, but that would frighten her." This happened right after he helped her out of her car after she served off the road and hit her head. This was the first time he's met this woman.
"Don’t worry, I’m not a serial killer or a rapist or a bad person. Just a lonely cowboy.” Who says this to a woman they've just met?
As soon as he takes her back to his house after her crash, he is imagining "her belly rounded with his child." Sir, you need to calm down.
It's not just the male main character that has issues in this book.
"It was the first time since the crash that she’d felt anything close to joy." Girl, you had this crash YESTERDAY! You're telling me that you're gobsmacked that you haven't felt joy in less than 24 hours.
And the sentence that finished me off and led me to DNF town was...
""Lucas," she cried as his mouth sucked her panties into his mouth right between the junction of her legs."
Surely no human could have written a sentence that bad?
This is a short story (short and insta love) so I didn't know how to rate it because while it was very sweet and spicy I feel it had room for more and I think I rounded up to a 3. Our MMC is a rancher who has suffered a lot in the last few years and our FMC is on her way to her parents house after seeing her boyfriend with someone else BUT there is a big snow storm and she has an accident and our MMC saves her, from there they feel attraction and since they have to be together and trapped in his house things heat up a bit. Like I said it is very short but it has a good story line that is very easy to follow and makes for a good read.

Olivia is having one of those days where you just want to go back to bed, pull the covers over your head and hope that it was all a dream. She gets a call from her parents that they want her to come for Christmas as they have something to tell her and her sisters and they won't tell it over the phone. Olivia is sure that her boyfriend who is going home with her has called ahead and that he is going to propose to her in front of her entire family. Boy, could that be further from the truth! Anyway by the end of the day she has no boyfriend, no job and on her way to her family she has an accident and so now she has no car. Can it get any worse than this? But, the bright side is that Lucas was behind her when she went off the road into the snowbank and was there to get her out. He takes her to his home and from there it looks like her luck may be changing. Good story but I am not one for lot of sex in books so be aware that there are scenes that are HOT< HOTSylvia has written a wonderful Christmas love story and hearts are healed and rejuvenated. This is a series of books so on now to book two.

I'll Be Home for Christmas is a short and steamy, instalove, OTT, Christmas themed, forced-proximity, girl gets her cowboy, second-chance romance. Olivia is a girl traveling home for Christmas after having a horrible day. She found her boyfriend cheating on her, got fired from her teaching job, and wrecked her car in a snowstorm. Lucas is a hunky cowboy who rescues her and takes her back to his house. He is grieving the loss of his family and lonely. When he sees Olivia, he is instantly drawn to her and wants to protect her. Olivia finds him attractive but is nervous that he is a stranger. But as they spend four days together, love blooms, and it gets hot and steamy! What happens when the snow stops? Will they part or stay together? This couple had amazing chemistry. There was low drama and a very happy ending. Lucas was totally drool-worthy, and Olivia needed her prince. I loved it and am looking forward to the series.

📚 read on kindle, downloaded on stuff your kindle day
My main issue is that it’s just too short for it to be believable, and trust me, I’m pretty good at suspending my disbelief. I love the premise of the book—she’s having the worst day ever and he rescues her in a snow storm—but I just feel like everything happened wayyyyyy too fast with no time in between for the characters to genuinely fall in love. No exposition to make the story feel real. I’d probably enjoy it more if the FMC and MMC knew each other already—maybe they hated each other, had a falling out, grew apart, miscommunication trope, something like that. Idk 🤷🏻♀️ I also think that the events that happened to the FMC on the day of this snowstorm should’ve happened earlier, bc it makes it hard to believe she’d just get over it in essentially a couple days, but really it happened overnight, and that MMC would be able to read her so quickly.
I do think that if this story could be more fleshed out with a bunch more background, details, show not telling, etc then it could be a genuinely good story
In this heartwarming holiday tale, Olivia and Lucas discover that sometimes, when life strands you in the snow, it can lead you to unexpected love and the true meaning of Christmas. Will their love melt away the icy remnants of their pasts and create a new beginning filled with hope, love, and the promise of a brighter future? Where do I start? I loved this book from the beginning all the way to the finish. Olivia had a rough start because of her ex, and Lucas was alone still grieving for his lost family. It is instant everything and it couldn't happen to two better characters! This is one of those books (and there are not many) that I will be re-reading many times!!! I only wish that it had a couple of epilogues :) You will not regret getting this book.

Olivia is having a rough day as her teaching job was just cut, she caught her fiance in bed with a coworker and on her way home to her parent's house she avoids an elk and crashes her car. Lucas is not have the best month either as he just lost his family and is all alone for Christmas at the ranch. He was right behind her when he saw her accident, got her out of the car and got her to safety at his ranch. Now in close proximity, they start to relax and open up. Great backstories, entertaining situations and chemistry. They both need someone who won't hurt them and treats them right. Will they work together? Will her ex try something? Can they heal with each other's care and support? Great characters, delightful storyline and happy outcome. Life is better when you meet the right person.

Olivia gets the shock of her life when she walks in on the man she has dated for a year and was expected a marriage proposal in the bed with another woman on the same day she lost her job as a teacher. Now she is heading home for Christmas with her family which she dreads since her twin sisters are overachievers and now her life is in the dumpster. While on the way the snow starts coming down so hard she can barely see but she saw the moose in the middle of the road just as she ran into a snowball. Lucas was behind Olivia and his ranch is not far so he rescues her and takes to his home. This is a wonderful story about finding a miracle just when you least expect it.

This is a heartwarming holiday romance. It is a short and quick read with forced proximity. The story is about Olivia and Lucas. Olivia has lost her job, dumped her cheating boyfriend and riding home, at her mother's demand. She is crying and traveling in snow and finds herself crashed into a snow bank. Lucas, a lonely rancher, sees her trying to avoid the elk and crash. He pulls her out and takes her to his ranch. I enjoyed how their story develops.
