Now that I’m participating in the Spy Games—a dangerous competition between magical spy academies—I’ve increased the risk of the queen’s minions finding and dragging me to the depths of the underworld.
In fact, with each passing Spy Game event, it becomes more obvious exactly why the queen wants me.
Most of the time my studies, relationships, and the tournament keep the looming threat of abduction out my mind.
But when someone I love is taken by the demons, I must act.
And face the powerful queen of Hell head-on.
A Rebel Witch is a fantasy academy book that features a tournament of supernatural spies, heartwarming friendships, enduring love, and magic-fueled action.
Ashley lives in the lush and green Pacific Northwest with her husband, their dog, and the house ghost that sometimes makes appearances in her charming, old home. When she’s not writing urban fantasy and portal fantasy novels she enjoys traveling the world, reading, kicking butt at board games (she recommends Splendor and Dominion), and frequenting taquerias. The Spellcasters Academy series continues with Rebel Witch. Odette decides to add to her overloaded schedule with the Spy Games – a competition against the other magical spy academies. As her relationship with Alex evolves, they are also trying to figure out how best to use their magical ancestry to their advantage. The demon markings on Odie and Eva are reacting to events – who knew it would be an asset, despite being a way for the evil queen to find her?
An interesting story as our friends try to make their way through the Grind year at the academy. All of the challenges Odie faces during the Spy Games help her to realize her power, but also the need for a united front against evil. The vampires, though…who knows about them? 😊
When one of the Spellcasters is taken by demons, Odie needs to face the queen of Hell to get them back. I cannot wait for the next book! This series is excellent.
We find Odie, Alex and friends back at school for the Grind year. And of course things are not going to be as easy as just going class every day. Through the spy games we get to meet some of the other students from the top schools of the other supernatural as they all compete. The characters, storyline and the intense ride that everyone is on will keep you glued to the pages. Once I started, I couldn't stop reading. I really enjoyed the addition of the other supernatural characters and hope to learn more about each of them. This book and series is a must read.
A Rebel Witch: A Supernatural Spy Academy (Spellcasters Spy Academy Series) by Ashley McLeo is an awesome story to read. This is book number two in this awesome seris that I can not get enough of and can not wait to see what will come next. I highly recommend this story to all.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
As much as I feel the magical tournament is overused in books with magic schools, this one was pretty neat. I liked the new characters and types of magical beings that were introduced. The stakes were really raised in this one and the ending has me ready to see how this is going to end up.
Odette, Alex, and Diana are all back at Spellcasters Academy for their second year. This year things are going to be a little different as the students have a chance to enter the spy games. There will four games each being hosted by a different academy.
Odie has been marked by a demon that is looking for her and with Odie deciding to participate in the spy game it makes her more accessible for the demons to find her.
The schools magical wards have been strengthened to help ward off any demons but will it be enough to keep them out? Odie knows the dangers of her joining the spy games but is willing to take the risk because if she wins the result could be amazing for her in the end.
Their second year at the academy is harder than their first as their training is taken up a notch and is tougher. The second year students get to go on real spy missions all by themselves with their teammates or partners.
A Rebel Witch is a fun and exciting read with lots of action with the spy games and fighting with demons. The world building just seems to grow and get better and better as each of its secrets is revealed. The characters magic has grown so much and the students are growing stronger.
In A Rebel Witch we get to visit some of the other academies. We are also introduced to some new characters like vampires, werewolves and fairies. I really like books where witches, fae, werewolves, vampires and other paranormal creatures are all in the same story and most of them get along with each other and can be friends of sorts and will help each other.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review :)
A Rebel Witch is the second book in the Spellcasters Spy Academy series. In the Academy, year 2 is also known as Grind year- and the name fits, because students are often pushed to the limits physically, mentally, academically, etc.!
When Odie and her friends arrive back at the school at the start of the new term, they discover that security has been enhanced because both Odie and Eva (her best friend) have been demon touched... not to mention that the royals of Hell are after Odie and Alex (her boyfriend)!
Despite this, the night of the welcome back feast, the students learn that the first inaugural Spy Games will be held between the four spy schools in the USA! Two students from each of the upper classes will be selected to compete in the games, which are considered quite dangerous. Of course Odie wants to participate, because she still feels like she needs to prove herself.
Each round of the games is held at a different school, which makes things really interesting and exciting! Spellcasters is a school for witches, but the other schools are host to vampires, fae, and shifters- it's really neat to see all the magical races come together to compete!
No spoilers here, but this book is SO exciting! There are many different things going on, but the story remains fast-paced and entertaining the entire time. I loved how all the different magical races interacted and cooperated with each other. I cannot wait to read about year 3 at Spellcasters!
Omg!😱 Explosive & Exciting From Start To Finish!!😲🙈😍💥 An Outstanding Read!!😍🌟 A Rebel Witch: Spellcasters Spy Academy Series Book #2
Odie & co really have a tough year ahead, it's the Grind!!🙈 Many more & harder lessons, many more hours & much more homework!!😳 They'll also be sent out on more dangerous & real Spy missions, just like real PIA Agents.😐 Headmistress Ward has an exciting announcement to make that could give a massive boost to someone if they're successful, will any of our four benefit?🙏🍀
This book is centred much more around Odie than the others, it's because of the circumstances she finds herself in & because it's written from her view point!👍 Dont worry though, we still see plenty of Alex, Eva & Hunter.😉 Diana Ward has a bigger part than in past books, it was fun to see her actually. Lol There's also loads of new & exciting characters added to the mix, they're not necessarily witches either!!😲😉
This is a suspenseful, exciting, tense & action packed read.🎉 The entire world build expands & dare I say gets even better & more complex in this book?!😍 Betrayals, shocks & sabotage dog their steps throughout the year. More danger emerges & engulfs them as well as ever more students & friends!!😢 Hold on to your hats for this one people because it's emotive & by the end it will completely blow your mind!!😱💥🌟
This is a great witch academy series! Each such series is unique but few are as spellbinding as Spellcasters Spy Academy. Think being a young witch has its problems? Try being a spy in training.
Year two at Spellcasters, the Grind year is hard for everyone but not everyone has as much on their plates as Odette Dane. She entered year one as a legacy and was resented by most of her classmates for skipping the entrance exams. By the end of the year she had proven her worth, but only to some.
Now during the Grind, even some of her erstwhile friends have turned their backs on her thinking she is undeserving of her spot as a top level Spy Master. Odie has enough problems without dealing with their jealousy! She has been marked by a royal demon of hell. In fact she and her boyfriend Alex both have demons out to get them!
Still, when a new competition between spy academies is announced, Odie can’t help but be drawn to it. If she can do well on the Spellcasters team, then maybe she can win a bit of acceptance. So despite a grueling class schedule, three upcoming missions and private sessions to further her warping ability, she enters the competition whole heartedly.
Will the grind year proceed without interference from the demon realm? Will the games win Odie the recognition she desires?
Another great installment in the Spellcasters Spy Academy series! A worthy follow-up to A Legacy Witch, full of all the things that made the first book so special. A friendly, relatable heroine with a good heart. Loyal, true, and kind friends. A world (and school) full of magic and mystical creatures. Action throughout the entire book and a climatic battle that saw our heroine fight with everything she's got.
What I really like about this book is that Odette doesn't let the previous year's successes go to her head. She's still eager to prove her place in Spellcasters, learn as much as she can about her powers, and ultimately help save people! In addition to learning more about her powers, she begins to impart her knowledge on others, begin to find confidence in herself, take on more leadership roles, and learns to place her trust in others. I really like her character development - she stays true to herself while becoming more secure in her powers and who she is.
The action is great. There's a competition and we see some of the other Academies in this magical world. All the while, the evil that stalked Odette in Book #1 is still lurking. I can't see what happens next in this series!
* The author gave me copy of this book for unbiased review. All opinions are my own. *
Rebel Witch takes us into year 2 at the Spy Academy and Odette, Eve, Alex and Hunter are back and ready for another exciting year...
I have to say I loved Diana in this story she really has grown and changed for the better as a character i can't wait for more of her...
Talk about entertaining, and page-turning writing... Spy Games what a brilliant concept and wow what challenges not only the actual Spy Game but also what the other schools throw out at the competition phew they were all lucky to make it through.
I love the threads through this series that will bring more together by the end and I really love each individual book and the challenges thrown at our friends and how they manage and over come all of the challenges it's bringing them tighter as friendships are being forged and bonded for life.
I am excited for more in this wondrous fantasy series.
I recieved an ARC copy of this, per request, and here's my honest review.
Odie, Alex, Eva and Hunter are thrown into this fast paced follow on from A Legacy Witch in their second year at the academy. This book is filled with action and excitement, with more demons, more magic, more surprises and more secrets, some of which are revealed, some not so much! The fabulous foursome expands to add a few more friends making the group more dynamic, which adds more excitement to the storyline.
We get to meet more magicals, shifters, vampires and fae as well as visit their respective academy's. I had a hard time putting the book down! And the ending is just perfect! Nicely wrapping up the current story arc but leaving space for the next arc as a follow up! Can't wait for book 3!!! Massive love for Ashley's epic writing skills!
Sorry witches but I do love the shifters. Now that that’s out of the way, book two in spellcasters really ramps up the action. Odie is a strong female character that has boundless energy, which is good because she has a penchant for finding herself in the middle of trouble.
I love that Ashley decided to separate Alex and Odie during this one. As much as I love the power couple, I loved how much Odie succeeded during the trials, school and that little thing of being marked by a high demon.
This book was nonstop action from start. The characters evolve, and not just the main ones, leading into one epic battle of strength that may surprise you as to which side they’re on.
World building is top notch in this book with the Spy Games being easily envisioned, rich and almost tangible. Can’t wait to see how the action scenes are going to be topped in the next book.
Oh my goodness, where do I even start? Book one was really good, and then book two just jumps in and takes over.
This next year in Odette's (Odie) life takes a huge complicated jump with the Spy Games on top of everything else going on in the Grind year. At the end of year one, Odie was named Spy Master in her year and with that comes some perks. Not everyone thinks she's deserving of the title, and she starts off feeling like it's year one all over again. She feels like she has to prove herself.
When the Spy Games roll around, it feels like the perfect opportunity to prove she worthy of the title of Spy Master. It's not until things start going awry that she quickly learns who supports her and who doesn't.
Book 2 leaves off with a huge cliff hanger and I can't wait to see what happens with book 3!!

This book finds Odette, Alex, Eva and Hunter back at the Academy after their internships. They have learned a lot about themselves. At the welcome back to school feast Headmistress Wake informs the students that there is going to be a Spy game competition with the other 3 Academy’s and it will have 4 member teams. Odette, Diana and 2 older students Sam and Andre make up the Spellcaster Academy team. This book has deception, betrayal and romance but also a strong camaraderie develops between the Spy Game champions. Demons and possessions of students is growing and dark things are coming. Odette and the rest have the hardest test coming, can they stop the Demons. I love Ashley McLeo’ characters and her stories are amazing. I can’t wait to see what happens next
Wow! This book had me on edge and wanting more. Once I started reading I could not stop. So Odette, Alex, Hunter and Eva head back to school. Only this time Odette is a Junior Spymaster! Will she be able to get along with Diana. So what is in store for them this year. Well now they have competition with their sister spy schools. The demons are causing all kinds of trouble. Will Odette finally tell everyone that it is not a curse but a prophesy? What will happen with hers and Alex's totem? So much action and being on the constant go it gets crazy. Then something big happens and I was like OH MY GOODNESS! Why would you torture me with that ending. This book is an amazing follow up. I cannot wait to see what will happen next.
I read the first book in this series and was delighted to see the second one out! I picked it up and dived right in. I loved slipping back into the Spellcasters world. Odie is an amazing character, one that you can relate to, and cheer for as she faces all the trouble thrown in her path. McLeo has a way with words, and weaves the world into them. I adored the book, found myself unable to put the book down and wanting to read all the way to the end so that I knew what was going to happen to Odie and the others. The ending almost killed me, and I'm desperate for book three! Highly recommended!
Odette and her friends are BACK! And their second year is about to begin. I recommend reading book 1.5 as some parts will make more sense (thou it's not a must). Getting into the story took me some time, but when I managed to do so the read was going smoothly and I really enjoyed it! Be ready for action, magic, lessons and demon action! The epilogue had left me in so much hype as it's a game-changer!
While I felt like the first book was a little bit of a fun romp, this next installment got down to business. The situations felt more intense. The characters stayed true to themselves while showing growth. I kept trying to anticipate where it was going and failing. While I would like a little bit more of Alex and Odette's relationship, I thoroughly loved how everything went down. Very entertaining!
Great Series I enjoyed Book 1 "Legacy Witch" so much that I pre-ordered " A Rebel Witch". If you like Magic schools and Witches you will love this series as much as I do. There is the normal school drama, close friendships and danger as they train to become supernatural spies. This is a well written, good sized book and very affordable. Recommended.
This story starts with year 2. I highly recommend reading A Marked Witch, which covers Ava's summer internship between years 1 and 2, but you wont be lost without it.
This series is loads of fun. There's mystery. Fabulous friendships. Some light romance. Action. Competitions with fellow Spy Academies ...I really enjoyed it and I'm sure you will too!

Let the games begin for Odette! However taking part in the Spy Games makes her an easier target for the Queen of hell. What can you say about the story except that you can't put it down. Without giving spoilers this action packed story filled with great characters will keep you sucked in till the very end.
After reading this book, I wanted to write and post this review to share my honest experiences toward the story, which is even more exciting and engaging than the first. It was, like the first, well written and enjoyable, taking so many twists and turns to keep my heart pounding until the very last page. I am definitely looking forward to seeing how this series will continue 😊
This was such an amazing read. From the second that I picked it up I could not put it down and finished it in one sitting. It moves along at the perfect reading speed not too fast nor too slow. Has amazing characters that you feel like you know and a story that will not let you down. This book needs to be on your TBR list, there is no doubt about it.
This is the 2nd in the Spellcasters Spy Academy series and this series gets better with every page. I have absolutely loved getting to know these characters and going along on their adventures. There isn't a dull moment and I can't wait for the next.
Holy mother of Roller coaster rides. This book I’ve was craving to read after reading the first book in the series. The characters have gone though so much crap between school and the evil demon queen after them.
This is the second book in Spellcasters Spy Academy series, it catches your imagination from the first page, it will transport you to a land of magic where Odie and friends will keep you entertained till the last page. I can't wait for the next book in the series.
Very adventurous book. Lots of action and new magical creatures. Drama, espionage and our friends don’t know who to trust. Long story which is nice when you are enjoying the book. The book ends yet leaves a door open for more intrigue to come.
