All I Want for Christmas Is Not You

Rate this book
Can you imagine having a one-night stand with the one guy you absolutely cannot stand?

Trust me when I say you do not want to make the same mistake that I did.

His name is Colton.

Colton Hart.

He’s my brother's best friend.

My nemesis.

The man that fired me after working for him for one hour.

Now he’s my latest mistake.

And it’s all the fault of my best friend Isabel and her spiked eggnog.

And the masks.

And that one slow dance at my brother's work party that got me all hot and bothered.

I didn’t know it was him.

Not until we were outside, pressed against the wall devouring each other.

He doesn’t believe I didn’t realize it was him at first.

The next morning my brother found me in his bedroom.

With Colton’s boxers in my hand. FML!

So I pretended I was there to do his laundry as his new assistant.

Colton’s smirk tells me that he thinks that this is something I’ve always wanted.

But it’s not true.

I do not want Colton Hart.

In fact, all I want for Christmas is not him.

Ella and Colton have been enemies for years, ever since she once worked for him for only an hour before he fired her. (She's never been able to live that down in her family's eyes, as they assume that the firing was her fault.) He's also her older brother's best friend. Her brother invites her to his office party. All the guests are wearing masks. Ella is attracted to a hot guy who comes on to her. When they dance, their moves veer into sexy/naughty territory. By then Ella has realized that her dance partner is Colton, but she goes along with his suggestion to go to his place. They have a steamy one-night stand. The next morning her brother comes over to see Colton. In an attempt to explain her presence there, Ella claims she's Colton's new assistant and is getting ready to do his laundry (she's holding his underwear at the time). Colton conforms her story. Amazingly, her brother and parents believe that and are thrilled he's giving her a second chance. So she becomes his assistant for real. He often infuriates her by making outlandish demands while also being quick to use crude, egotistical language when (very often) referring to their past and continuing sexual encounters. I'm not a prude by any means, but, in my opinion, he was just plain obnoxious most of the time. Ella is incapable of falling into bed with Colton again and again. She complains about how he acts, but just can't resist their chemistry. On his part, Colton goes out of his way and over the top (sometimes embarrassing her) to ensure that Ella doesn't date anyone else. While this was a quick, easy read, I basically thought Ella was too weak (make him work for it!) and naive. Colton too obnoxious. His behavior was explained/redeemed at the end, but, truthfully, I found it difficult to really like or relate to either the H or h. But, J.S. Cooper is still one of my favorite authors and I will read the sequel about Sarah when it's available.

My first book by this author and I did not enjoy it at all. I was looking forward to trying out this author but I could not stand the FMC by the end of chapter one. She was immature, not intelligent and irresponsible. I was hoping the story would get better as it went, but the FMC went on to play games, lie and not learn anything/grow up.

The MMC didn't make sense to me. His actions/words at the beginning of the book didn't align with his words/actions at the end. There should have been hints at the beginning (even if only noticed in hindsight), even though it was told from the FMC's POV, that he had deeper feelings for her but there weren't any. There were other things in this book as well that weren't consistent and caused the story to not flow well (he alluded to believing in the past she was looking for a sugar daddy and then later he admitted he didn't really think she was, but he fired her because he realized he couldn't work with her.)

Overall, this book was brought down at every turn by a painfully immature FMC and an inconsistent MMC.

Fun story

This is enjoyable enough but maybe a little awkward and I’m not just talking about the situations Ella finds herself in. Characters are okay as well. Not bad but not great.

Finished this book in one sitting. It is such an enjoyable read for Christmas or any season. There are so many good tropes- brothers best friend, love hate, unrequited love, dating in the modern world, and steamy office spice!
You get taken through a few weeks before Christmas where Ella goes to her brothers work party, and hooks up with a mystery masked man... who turns out to be her nemesis!
Enter the morning after, her brother is banging on the door, and he almost walks into a bedroom where Ella is trying to hide. Coulton lets him and suddenly Ella says she is there as she is working for Coulton lol!!!
The rest of the story is just a brilliant, witty, spicy and full of fun, emotion and friendship.
Well written, face paced (which I love). A must read!

The pacing of this book was really nice, and there were lots of silly and funny parts that kept it interesting! I wish this was a larger book so the character development could have progressed and been shown more, because I love Colton and Ella, but the ending and complete shift to cheesy love talk felt a tiny bit disjointed from the rest of the story.

I always love a good old enemies to lovers, and if you’re looking for a cozy, spicy, fun little read for the holidays, this one is for you!.

When I started this novel, I struggled with it. Mainly because I really didn't like Colton's character... like, at all. His attitude annoyed me to no end, and I felt for Ella and her dislike of him. However, as the story continued, I found myself rooting for them as a couple. I got irritated with both of them multiple times while reading. You know what though, that's the sign of a good author! When you can despise a character because of how the author portrays him or her. When you root for characters to better themselves because you've created a connection to them because of the story. I would definitely recommend this novel, along with J.S. Cooper as an author, to other book lovers I know!

Ella is not a fan, to say the least, of her brother’s best friend. She finds him completely annoying and arrogant. Colton has a secret that he can’t tell anyone. He looks forward to his clashes with Ella. She thinks he dislikes her and tries very hard to stay out of his way. Too bad both of them are thrown together because of her brother. Is it true hate of each other or hate disguised as love?

This was a charming book. The banter between Colton and Ella was cute. The pacing of the story was great. It is a great book for a night in or a weekend just relaxing.

Fun and romantic and a bit naughty

Loved this book as it was about two people Ella's and Colton journey to falling in love. They started off on the wrong foot , and Ella stayed that way for quite a while. Except she just couldn't resist him all at the same time. He teases her and says inappropriate things to her and others throughout, but he does have his reasons. All said and done, it's a really fun and exciting read! J.S.Cooper and Natalia Lamb, you have an amazing book and I highly recommend it!

I always enjoy reading JS Cooper books! This is a winner and an easy 5 Stars
Colton is gorgeous and Ella's brothers best friend.
Ella and Colton do not get along and it's funny!
Because they shared one hot night together and after that they acted like it never happened!
This story has good character development and storyline. The banter and angst is laughable.
I loved this book and definitely recommend it for a quick Christmas read, with some spicy love scenes.

Hell nah...to the nah, nah, nah...

Ella and Colton were so immature. They sure deserved each other, but I wasn't into reading about it! I was annoyed the whole time throughout the story. I couldn't get behind either of them. It just didn't work for me at all.

I have another book from this author on my TBR. I'd like to give them another chance.

But this was not the book for me.

Very quick read, only in h’s POV. Honestly I didn’t like the MC very much the back and forth was exhausting. However, at like 90% in a switch happens and all of a sudden H is confessing his undying love for h, because apparently it’s “always been her”. Now I’ve got questions because if I loved someone I wouldn’t have treated them/ spoke to them that way he did after they hooked up the first time…and every time after honestly. Anyways, h is all of a sudden a true, romantic hero. He’s telling her that he loves her, calling her his girl, helps out her parents (unprompted), is calling her darling, and wants to take her to Paris for their first date. Who is this man?? Not the Colton that I’ve known for 90% of the book. Don’t get me wrong. I like this version much more than the asshole that I’ve gotten to know but it was just real jarring and completely unexplained.

Also, I’m really sad about how Danny was actually kind of gross. h and his daughter had formed a connection and now she most likely isn’t gonna get the chance to say goodbye, because why would you want to have to interact with a man like that again?

Ella starts out lamenting how she just wants to let loose and have some fun. She is a 24-year-old who is a hot mess. She has no job, doesn't know what she is going to do, but is at a Christmas party her brother's law firm is throwing. She starts dancing with a masked guy she thinks is hot. Things escalate and she soon discovers that it is her brother's BFF, Colton. She doesn't run screaming in the other direction, but agrees to see what happens. I will say that I had a hard time liking Ella. She played games, lied and generally acted like a toddler throughout this book. Colton, who is running his own company and, coincidentally, a billionaire, acted like a toddler also. I would have liked this book more if it had been YA. I almost dnf'd after she got called out on being clueless and didn't even stop to consider that it was true. Her parents and brother seemed to be over-protective. As the book went on, I could see why they would be worried about her. I think I would have enjoyed the book more if it wasn't solely in her POV.

All I Want For Christmas is Not You J. S. Cooper

Thank you J.S. Cooper for the ability to review this ARC.

The story line of 'All I Want for Christmas is Not You' by J.S Cooper was good and had potential. It had a promising plot that was engaging. However, I found the writing style to be somewhat juvenile and repetitive. The author seemed to jump around a lot, which made it difficult to fully immerse myself in the story. While the overall concept was enjoyable, I believe that the execution could have been better. Despite these flaws, I still found myself interested in seeing how the story would unfold. Overall, 'All I Want for Christmas is Not You' is an average read with room for improvement. J.S. Cooper is a new author for me, and I feel that there is great potential in the writing and I plan to read the sequel as soon as it becomes available.

***SPOILERS***
Since she was fired after working for him for just one hour, Ella and Colton have been bitter rivals for years.(Her family believes she was at fault for the firing, so she's never been able to move past that.)He's also the best friend of her older brother. She gets an invitation to her brother's office party. Every guest is donning a mask. Ella finds herself drawn to a handsome man who approaches her. Their dancing moves border on the sensual and impure. By then, Ella is aware that Colton is her dancing partner, but she accepts his invitation to visit his house. They had a passionate one-night fling. Her brother visits Colton the following morning. Ella explains that she's Colton's new assistant and that she's getting ready to do his laundry in an effort to justify her presence there (she's holding his underwear at the moment).Colton adapts her narrative. Remarkably, her parents and brother agree with him and are happy that he's giving her another chance. She thus officially becomes his assistant.

Making ridiculous demands and being quick to use crass, egotistical language when (very often) discussing their past and ongoing sex often enrages her. He wasn't a prude by any means, but most of the time, I found him to be just plain annoying. Ella is unable to repeatedly get into bed with Colton. She gripes about his behavior, but she can't help but be drawn to their chemistry. To make sure Ella doesn't date anyone else, Colton goes above and beyond—occasionally embarrassing her—in his efforts. Although it was a quick and simple read, I felt Ella was naive and too weak (Colton did not have to work for anything and she was easy to give it up). Colton was too annoying. Although his actions were ultimately justified or explained, I must admit that I had a hard time connecting with him.

This is a Brother’s Best Friend Christmas Romance Story and it is Colton and Ella’s story and omg it is definitely a must read. Ella isn’t having a great day as she was fired from her job and it wasn’t her fault and Christmas is just around the corner and she has no boyfriend to take home with her so with her best friend Isabel they end up going to a masked party in the law office of Parker and Parker were her brother works so when Isabel tells Ella that a man is staring at her and can’t seem to look away it ends up being Colton who is her brother’s best friend and because she has had a lot to drink Ella ends up sleeping with him only to end up regretting it the next morning even though it was the best night of her life as they were explosive together but unfortunately Ella had a love/hate relationship with him. Colton is a wealthy, a real player when it came to women, had such a dirty mouth, is sarcastic and loves to goad Ella so that he can see her temper rise as it amuses him but what Ella doesn’t know is that Colton does all this for a reason. When Colton and Ella eventually come together because they can’t seem to keep there hands off each other it is absolutely explosive and when the truth comes out of how they really feel about each other everything that has happened it all starts to make sense why they treated each other like they did. Hang on to your seat as you read this amazing and fun story that will have you laughing so much but also feeling as if you are there going through everything with them all. I couldn’t put this book down and the scenes were so hot that I read it in one sitting because it completely pulled me in to the story right from the beginning and kept my attention throughout the whole book and it was so addictive that it had you turning the pages to see what would happen next and also what the outcome would be for them in the end. I can’t wait to read more books in the future.

All I want for Christmas is not you by J. S Cooper and Natalia Lamb was a cute holiday read full of chemistry and enough snark to fill the entire naughty list for several years and yet I am only going to give it 4 stars. I did find it well written and developed and while I usually love the snark all day every day this one hit slightly differently for me. Colton, while I understand why he did what he did; the way in which he did things was demeaning to her self esteem. It was harmful and while I did see some positive aspects of his character they don’t make what he did right. Ella really needed to speak her truth to more than just her crazy friends because they clearly had no clue the proper way to support her in this situation. Don’t get me wrong, I do love the enemies to lovers trope and J.S. Copper wrote one of my all time favorites in that genre. This one just hit differently with me for some reason and I felt that Colton was just manipulative and never showed remorse for how he treated Ella so I really didn’t feel he deserved her at least not until she got him to understand how much his actions impacted her self worth and he showed a modicum of responsibility for his behavior. That may just be me. It was full of humor and snark and I may just be overly sensitive on this issue. Please read it for yourself and decide for yourself because even though I didn’t necessarily agree with how the story resolved; like I said I still give it 4 stars because J.S.Cooper has never failed to hold my attention.

Thank you, J.S. Cooper and Natalia Lamb for the gifted ARC.

When Ella went to her brother's Christmas work party, the last thing she expected was to have a one night stand with a masked man. The even bigger shock came when she realized that man was Colton, her brother's best friend and her nemesis. Colton doesn't believe Ella when she tells him she had no idea he was behind the mask. When Sam, her brother, walks in on the two of them together in Colton's bedroom the next morning, Ella had to make up a story of why she's holding Colton's underwear. So now, she's Colton's new assistant. A position which she was fired from one hour after the last time she was hired for that job. Despite being jobless, she doesn't want to be Colton's assistant. In fact, she wants nothing to do with Colton at all.

All I Want For Christmas Is Not You is a brothers best friend, enemies to lovers, spicy romance. I have some mixed feelings about this one. In the beginning, I didn't like Colton's character at all. He said the most mean, crude things to Ella, and he sabatoged every date she tried to go on. Despite this, for whatever reason, Ella kept going back over and over again to sleep with the man. Colton did have a complete character change in the end, but we never really learned his reasoning behind why he treated her so horribly in the first place. This is a cute, fast read, though you could really read it any time of the year because it doesn't give super holiday vibes.

This was an enemies to lovers holiday romantic comedy.

I really enjoyed the story even though Ella's character made me want to buy her a clue. It was funny and steamy. Would recommend.

Ella Wynter is completely clueless about people and was recently fired from her job again. She can easily be talked into doing hair brained things by her friends.

Colton Hart is a billionaire, arrogant, cocky and her brother's best friend.

Ella and her bestie Isabel were invited to her brother Sam's law firm's Christmas party because he pitied her. Isabel spiked their eggnog with alcohol she brought and Ella gets buzzed. All the guests are wearing masks, she and Isabel start dancing and she catches the eye of a handsome man across the room. They start grinding on each other and go outside where she discovers the hottie is none other than her nemesis Colton. She agrees to go back to his place where they hook up. Next morning she is angry at him again. Sam shows up at the door before she can leave so she claims to be Colton's assistant. Colton takes advantage of the situation and makes her work in his office. Ella goes through a series of ridiculous situations because she is in denial of her true feelings for Colton. He eventually admits his feelings for her, she reciprocates and they get their HEA.

Ella is sweet, but her sassiness takes the cake for me. Her day didn’t go as planned, especially after getting fired from her job for something that wasn’t her fault and what takes the cake is it is nearly Christmas. But sometimes our best friends are truly the best so her friend talks her into going to a masked party at her brother’s job and that is when she notices Parker watching her with a little liquid courage for the both off them allows the to feel the attraction and giving in to it for one just one night but waking up with regrets although neither will admit yet it was the best night either of them had. Colton sexy as all get out one night stand, player to his heart allergic to commitment and yet that one night with his best friend’s sister won’t allow him to just walk away as usual. He lives to aggravate her just to watch her upset he thinks it is cute but after that one night they can’t stay away from each other no matter how much she hated him (but they do say it is a thin line between love and hate) boy do these two prove just that yet the magnetic pull can’t be ignored so giving in had come their thing each not willing to admit feeling for one another but where are they headed maybe happiness with the continued shenanigans?

Cutesy, Sexy, Funny Read! 😊

Ella and her BFF are invited to a masked office party, and they were having a great time drinking and dancing. Ella found herself flirting with an attractive masked man and found herself dancing with him. Their dancing became a little “dirty” and eventually reaching a private area where sexy time was escalating… however she quickly realized the masked man was Colton! Colton is her brother’s BFF and the man she hates after he fired her when she worked with him for one single day. A shame her family won’t let her forget.

Ella immediately stopped him… however Colton convinced her to keep their sexy time going at his apartment… no one needs to know right?

Well by morning, Ella is trying to escape, while Colton is enticing another sexy round… but Ella’s brother shows up and Ella finds herself creating a story to avoid her brother figuring out what happened between her and Colton.

The funny predicaments and Colton’s temptations make it difficult for Ella to avoid her attraction to Colton.

Ella and Colton’s story is very entertainment Really fun read… can’t wait for the next in the series. 😊

All I want for Christmas is not you review

I was grateful to receive this book as an arc. I have read J.S Cooper before but not Natalia Lamb.
This book was really good! It made you wanna throw your book, slam it shut, laugh and just be like wth!
Colton Hart is your male who thinks that woman love him, even though he’s all about himself.
Ella can’t hide the fact that she is attracted to him and enjoys when he flirts with her. She plays it off like she doesn’t but you know she does.
I was annoyed with Ella’s best friend Isabel. She is always trying to get Ella to do things that she thinks will make Colton jealous.
Colton gives Ella a job working for him. She doesn’t take the job seriously at first and thinks that what she told her brother about working for Colton was to just get him off her back. Colton pays Ella well for the position as his assistant and she can’t turn down the money. She wants to prove to her brother along with her parents that she is going to take working for Colton seriously this time.
Over time both Ella and Colton realize that they do in fact have feelings for each other and have for some time. Can Ella and Colton make it work between them?

Their Intense Love Games -
Even though Ella hated Colton with with every fibre of her being, fate had other plans for her, as she found herself engaging in carnal pleasures that truly blew her mind. Colton had been lusting after his best friend’s younger sister for a while, but as he couldn’t have her, he found ways to antagonise her. Every time Colton and Ella tried to stay away from each other, they found themselves back together and enjoying more steamy encounters.

Fortunately, Ella’s family weren’t upset when their secret relationship was revealed, which gave them the opportunity to finally acknowledge their feeling for each other and work towards getting the life they wanted. This was one heck of a reading experience, that had me totally spellbound from start to finish. The storyline was amazing, a little twisted, engaging and oh so steamy. This is a definite must read book.

Omg I loved this story. Ella's has hated her brother best friend ever since he fired her on her first day of work. A few years later Ella's is at her brother's office Christmas party which happens to be a masked party when her friend tells her this guy is staring at. Soon she is dancing and flirting with this guy. The two decided they are going to go home together but once outside she finds out that it is her brothers best friend Colton. Even once kniwing who it is she still decides to go with him. The two hooks up and the morning her brother shows up just as she is holding his boxers. She lies and tells him that she is his new assistant which makes her brother happy because she needed a job. While she tries to stop thinking about Colton, he keeps popping up everywhere and ruining every date he she goes on. Will she sucome to his charm or will she keep fighing it? The chemistry between these two are super-hot. This is a must-read read book.

Those who have rated this book anything above 1 star, MAYBE 2, are operating at the capacity of an adolescent. The most concerning thing is this book is written by just ONE but TWO authors and is still so poorly written. The writing is that of a high schooler, maybe even middle school, which isn’t too far off since it starts off with the MFC writing in a diary. The MMC is the douchiest character I’ve ever read and at this point (60%) I’m not sure how he could possibly be redeemed. Ella is “most probably” (a term used far too much in this book) the most idiotic female character I’ve had the displeasure of reading. I wish I could even say I stayed for the spice but they’re quickly rushed through and far and few between. I don’t like to DNF books so I’m about to speed read through the remaining 40% to see how on earth they’re going to broach the realm of a romantic relationship at this point.

If you’re looking for a fun story to read, you will enjoy Colton and Ella’s book. Ella had a huge crush on Colton, but when she was eighteen, he fired her after one hour. Now, he’s her nemesis. He’s also her older brother, Sam’s, best friend. Her parents even invited him for Christmas this year. At Sam’s office party, she flirts with a masked guy and when things get steamy she realizes it’s Colton. Does she walk away? Why no she doesn’t, lol. She goes home for with him. Next morning, Sam catches her with Colton’s boxers in her hand and she says she’s his new assistant. Will her working for him turn out better this time? Grab your copy and see what happens. This story will have you laughing out loud in parts and swooning in others. I can’t wait to see what this author has for us next.

I received an advanced reader copy of this book and this is my voluntary and honest review.

Ella down on her luck after being fired from another job goes to her brothers work’s Christmas party with her bff Isabel( not too keen on her tbh, seems a bad influence on our FMC) there she encounters a mysterious but yet sexy masked man, they flirt, they dance, then when masks come off reality kicks in and she sees it’s her brothers best friend, the man she loves to hate. Colton is a likeable enough MC but sometimes he comes across a bit of a jerk and down right rude but his heart is with Ella. This journey to their hea is full of laughs ( she does get herself into some predicaments) I mean the date with the rapper? So hilarious. Some really daft ideas but also full of passion and heat. Colton is a dirty talker and I’m here for it. He redeemed himself and the ending was just so lovely. Would have liked to have both characters povs throughout but enjoyed all the same. Look forward to Sarah’s story.

Brothers Best Friend with Hate!

Ella Wynter and Colton Hart creates the funniest, romantic, stupidly frustrating type of relationship!

Literally, Ella believes she hates Colton, her brothers best friend! Oh my Colton is a billionaire that gave her a job and fired her the first day!
I cannot get a feel for what it is that Ella should be doing for work but it seems that she is a fruitcake that gets fired a lot! While she is beautiful her character seems to be stupid and she goes along with her single friends dumb ideas. She is not your typical female heroine! She is strong willed, independent but barely making it in the city.

Colton Hart is your typical Alpha male and while he could have any woman in the world he seems to love playing games with Ella.

This story is a quick read, it will make you laugh out loud, and want to slap the characters but you will enjoy the story!

This story is crazy I love it it's hilariously funny. The characters Colton and Ella can't stand each other but their chemistry is hot and heavy if they let it out . Colton is Ella brother best friend and Ella work for him . Colton drove Ella crazy at the job for an hour then fired her can you believe that . At the masquerade party Ella drink some eggnog that was spike and to her surprise it was good. She met a hot guy at the party didn't know it was Colton until last minute. She wake up the next day when his underwear in her hands her brother saw them and she said she was washing Colton underwear because is the new assistant. This book is fun, loving crazy hilarious holiday read. And if you go to the Christmas party make sure you know what's in the eggnog lol . Shenanigans And Sexy Times

All I Want For Christmas Is Not You was a fun read with Ella And Colton. Colton was not an easy character to like while Ella seemed a little ditzy and followed along with her best friends advice without thinking of the consequences. It was amazing that these two connected at all. And connected they did with some very sexy times.
Colton was able to redeem himself and the bonus scene showed the depth of his feeling for Ella. I liked how Ella who had been drifting through life finally found work that she enjoyed and was good at.
At this time of year I was glad they both received the Christmas present they wanted, each other.
Jaimie has again created characters that are fun, complex, loving and capture your attention as you root for their HEA.
I received a copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.

Ella is not where she wants to be in life when it comes to romance or her career. An invitation to her brother’s Christmas party couldn’t have come at a better time especially when it includes a masked sexy stranger. The only problem is that man turns out to be her brother’s best friend and the man who fired her years earlier on her first day and this is when the fun really begins.

Colton is successful both when it comes to business and women. His relationship with Ella is antagonistic to say the least but when they finally give in to the true feelings between them the sparks fly and now they must decide if they are meant to be enemies or lovers.

The banter between them is entertaining and the heat between them is undeniable as what started as one night together will force them to face their feelings for each other if they have some bumps along the way.
