Tropes:

♡ Marriage of convenience
♡ Enemies to lovers
♡ One bed
♡ Forced proximity
♡ Fake marriage
♡ "My wife"

Where do I even begin with this review???? Gosh I loved every single part of this book, every single second of it. This is M. Pamela’s debut book but if you didn’t know that going into it, you wouldn’t know it to be honest. That’s how impressive and amazing her writing is for a new bee. A Win-Win Situation takes you on an unreal journey filled with love, emotion and depth. It might be an enemies go lovers, marriage of convenience romance, but to me it was so more than that.

When Leora finds her boyfriend cheating on her in their bed on the same day as she gets fired, she decides to escape to France for a girls trip with her two best friends. But this vacation turns out to be much more than just your average vacation. Not only does she put herself out there and gets rejected by a guy she had a tiny crush on, but she also gets a fake marriage proposition after getting the job of her dreams, to the very same guy that she threw a drink at. Lucas is on the road to take over the hotel empire from his sick uncle, but he finds out in order to get voted in, he has to marry right away, and after a night with a gorgeous woman throwing a drink in his face, he finds out he has to marry that same woman to save his hotel franchise from the wrong hands.

When I tell you I ate the entirety of this book up so fast. Leora and Lucas was just so much more than your typical romance couple. They both had so much depth, understanding and love for doing what is right and were always the first people to help someone out. They bonded on a very emotional level with everything going on around them and even though they technically "despised" each other, they quickly came to terms with that not being true at all. The ending was everything I wanted it to be and I gotta be emotionless if I lied and said that I didn’t tear up a few times. This book was way more emotional than I thought it would be, but I wholeheartedly enjoyed it and I’m just so proud of what Mimo has accomplished and created within this story and the whole fictional universe she’s building.

I can’t wait for book 2. I’m so obsessed with this whole series.

M. Pamela's novel A Win-Win Situation centers on the marriage of convenience between marketing manager Leora Davis and hotel owner Lucas Ayuob.

This book is marketed as a slow burn, but I was unable to find any slow or burn. Things were moving much too quickly. As the first part of the novel went like this: Leora and Lucas are first attracted to one another, then get stuck in a marriage, and then they fall in love fast.

Also, I understand that occasionally book heroines feel insecurity and deal with personal issues, but Leora was much too insecure. It did grow frustrating because the entire book only focused on her being insecure and kept relating everything to her ex.

Having said that, I thought it was adorable that the author made the connection between the reference of the mountains in the prologue and the final chapter.

There were definitely heated and enjoyable parts in this novel, but I didn't feel like Leora and Lucas had much of a connection because everything was going so quickly.

*Thank you to the author, M. Pamela, for providing me with this e-arc in exchange for an honest review.*

4.5/5 ⭐️

I’m so glad to have received an ARC for this book, I expected to like it because who better to write a good romance book than an avid romance reader? So, obviously, M. Pamela knew damn well what she was doing with this: the tropes, the story, the characters, everything.
Leora and Lucas enter a marriage of convenience so he can continue his family’s legacy and for her to have a job after everything went to shit in her life. They only have to pretend in public and only for one year, that should be easy, right? But there’s tension from the beginning and they’re both stubborn as hell.
I absolutely loved Lucas, he’s like one of those chocolates with marshmallow filling, you know? Hard on the outside, fluffy and super sweet on the inside and obviously: delicious. Another fictional man to make my already unrealistic expectations even more unrealistic.
Leora is the cutest, most stubborn firecracker. She annoyed me a little bit, but considering we’re now sister wives, it’s all good.
It’s a simple story, but it was very well written. I love books that feel easy to read, like I could keep on reading it for days and I wouldn’t get tired of it. Perfect pace, good plot, great development and the Lebanese representation was amazing. Like I said before, Pamela knew damn well what she was doing, and this is her debut novel!!!! This woman is about to live rent free in my head while I wait for her next books. So run along and start your obsession with this book and series so I have someone to go crazy with! 💙

Thank you to the author for sending me the ARC in exchange of my honest review. This book deserves all the praises and so do you!

Leora ends up getting fired from her job & cheated on all on the same day, but thankfully she has a trip to Nice, France, booked & ready to go on with her 2 bffs. It’s here that she receives 2 offers from an elderly gentleman who owns a hotel empire: the first being a marketing job at one of his hotels, & the second being marrying his nephew Lucas Ayoub, in order for Lucas to receive his inheritance & take over the family business. However, Leora soon finds out that Lucas is the same man she flirted with & threw her drink at the night before, & Lucas doesn’t want anything to do with her…

If you told me this was a debut novel before I knew anything about this book I would NOT have believed you. As you all know I’m a sucker for marriage of convenience so of course I ran to sign up for this arc, & I am so glad I did because this was SO freaking amazing & I loved every second of it🩵

Leora is a stubborn, sassy, badass firecracker who tries to defy Lucas every step of the way because she knows it’ll rile his grumpy ass up. She’s also an incredibly hardworking, determined, & strong fmc who knows her worth. Lucas is also very stubborn, but where Leora is quite loud, open, charismatic, outgoing & joyful, Lucas is her complete opposite. He’s grumpy, stoic, reserved, quiet, & broody. I LOVED his jealousy & how protective he was.

The slow burn was executed to perfection! I was fighting for my life because the tension between Lucas & Leora was eating me up inside, & I just couldn’t wait for the slow burn to be over😩 Their chemistry was fantastic, & the relationship development was done so well! & let’s not forget about the Arabic nicknames😩🙌🏼

I am now (im)patiently waiting for book 2🙈

𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐢𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞: marriage of convenience, age gap, one bed, Arabic nicknames, Lebanese representation, Grumpy × sunshine, opposites attract

Thank you so much to the author for the arc🩵

M. Pamela’s debut novel is a promise rather than a good book. I’ve enjoyed reading it very much for many reasons, but what I’ve liked the most about it is that it shows the potential this writer has. Instead of being one more writer following the same trends many people seems to be obsessed with, M. Pamela builds her own pat. I’ll explain.

This is a marriage of convenience between two people who are attracted to each other from the moment they first meet. Leora was cheated and she found out because she arrived home earlier after being fired from her job. Her best friends take her on a trip to the French Riviera so she can distance herself from that toxic environment and there is where she meets Lucas, the nephew and heir of the hotel owner. Lucas and his younger brother Liam grew up with uncle Antoine and his wife after their parents died when they were little. They are Lebanese and most of their customs are of this culture. This is important because it is the writer’s own heritage and also because it is what makes this book unique. Also one of Leora’s friends, or better said, sisters, is Lebanese too, so Leora is influenced by the culture as well.

I wouldn’t say this is an enemies to lovers story but Leora and Lucas clash at first. They both have strong values and personalities but they are also rational people, that’s why their marriage works well and leans into the friendship area. They clash because the attraction between them is obvious and they reject that feeling, they’ve agreed that they will stay married for a year and then they will go their own ways… but fate has decided they stay together.

What I meant to say about this book not being influenced by book social media trends is that it can be considered a slow burn according to those standards. M. Pamela’s book isn’t full of spice, especially not from the get-go, here, sex is a consequence of love and longing, there’s a lot of romance and yearning in Lucas’ and Leora’s story, they only act on their feelings when they acknowledge those feelings, not before. And I loved that.

The writing is good though not remarkable, still, there’s a lot of potential in it, it just needs a little more polishing, and that will only come with experience, which is in my opinion the best thing that could happen to a debut author; having room for improvement. Actually, the second half of the book is better written than the first, so the reader can see that improvement and hope for more. I believe this is the first book of a series so, I strongly encourage M. Pamela to keep writing.

Leora Davids finds herself agreeing to a marriage of convenience with Lucas Ayoub to help him secure an inheritance. In exchange, Leora is promised her dream job. With the beautiful backdrop of the French Riviera, this romance caught my attention from the start.

Despite this being M. Pamela's debut novel, I was pleasantly surprised by the story and its well-developed characters. The relationship between Leora and Lucas unfolds gradually, keeping the reader fully invested in their story.

Overall, this contemporary romance is a must-read for those who enjoy slow-burn stories and marriage of convenience themes.

Thank you to the author for providing me with an ARC of "A Win-Win Situation" in exchange for my honest review. All the opinions shared here are entirely my own.

Leora and Lucas are the cutest, most infuriatingly tiptoeing-around-confessions kind of people and I love their slowburn story!

From the snags at the start (drinks were thrown people!) to the bumps in the middle (when tensions went through the roof!) and the smoothness at the end. Such a cute couple with perfectly matched energy that's also in opposition - which keeps them going, challenging each other affectionately (and with mischief).

The twists and turns the couple - and plot - faces were a little on the nose, but well written with a nice perspective and a feeling I can't truly term. It gave this book that little extra something-something, you know the thing we look for in every book we read?

Beware though, there is miscommunication AND miscommunication by choice + epilogue babies in A Win-Win Situation so if that's a deal breaker this book may not be your thing. I'm not a fan, but M. Pamela did it really well and I was aware beforehand so it's not reflected in the 5⭐ review - which this book is worth, taking into account it's a debut book? Could have fooled me!

Some Tropes: Marriage of Convenience/Fake Marriage, Dislike to Lovers, Forced Proximity, Fake Relationship, Workplace, Interracial, Slowburn with Tnesion, One Bed, Opposites Attract...

In Short: “A Win-Win Situation” is a steamy marriage-of-convenience romance. It follows the story of two souls who start off on the wrong foot but are soon put in a situation that promises passion and sizzling tension. It’s the first interconnected standalone in the Unexpected Love Series and guarantees a happy ending.

***ARC***

this book was delightfully entertaining in the simplest ways. it felt like reading / watching a chick flick and sometimes we just need exactly that

a win-win situation is a marriage of convenience perfect to read during valentine’s day or in the summer as it is swoony, seggsy, fun and set in nice, south of france

both leora and lucas shared a sizzling tension which was fun to follow! both characters had distinctive personalities you, as a reader, can relate to. if your an “i’m not enough” / the oldest kid / have self worth issues, you will see a bit of yourself in this story

i’m have very specific standards for marriage of convenience which sets my expectations high and if I didn’t vibe fully with the book it was just bc it didn’t met what I was searching, but that’s on me! tho the part that definitely met my need was the slowburn nature of the story. we are talking about 80% slowburn. which is amazing!

in terms of what tamed my interest for the whole story was:
- a bit too trope-y for me, I don’t mind stories driven by tropes but in this case it was a bit too much for my liking
- there is insta-attraction, which is not something I personally enjoy much
- the romance part lacked a bit of substance

overall, a great story with potential, a fun time spent and a writing fast read. perfect for the girlies who love girly stories and tension. the ending was nice to follow and I might have shed a tear when reading a certain letter. I will be tuning in for the second book bc I’m very intrigued

ratings:
overall: 3.25⭐️
spice: 3🌶️
tension: 3.5⚡️

Thank you so much, M. Pamela for the eARC!!

I really, really liked this one. But, if I’m being honest, it wasn’t always that way. It did take me a while (probably about 20-25% of the way through) to really be sold on it and get into it. But then it was so good and had me kicking my feet and squealing.

I feel like the first half of the book moved really slow so I was nervous that the second half was going to go way too fast, but it didn’t!! The second half was so well paced and it all made sense.

I love Lucas and Leora. I feel like both of their characters’ development was so good. Lucas did feel a bit overbearing at times, but I get it. He’s a naturally very protective person, and understand why he is the way that he is helped me understand it. And Leora did annoy me at times with how her confidence went in waves, but I also get that. Being confident in public vs in private are two very different things and also knowing why she is the way that she is helped me understand her patterns too. Every character is very dimensional and well-written.

I LOVE Lucas and Leora’s banter!!! Give me a book full of banter, PLEASE. But this one had so much of it and I loved every second.

I am so excited for the future of this series and can’t wait to read it (when it’s all out hehehe)!

I’ve been excited to read this book for a while, and it did not disappoint. Lucas needs to get married in order to have control of his uncles hotels. Leora agrees because she’s just been fired and they are going to give her a job. Her agreeing doesn’t make that much sense but I don’t care at all.

They have two meet cutes, one ending in disaster, before they discuss the marriage. they’re both very clearly attracted to one another but they are also both so stubborn. It creates a very interesting, dynamic or neither one of them ever wants to fully admit something to the other person.

Lucas and Leora have a rough go of it at first simply, because they just don’t understand the other person. They slowly start doing more things together and just getting to know the other person. He makes them breakfast every morning and they love to sit and eat their breakfast together. it’s such a small thing but I thought it was so cute.

Leora has a deep fear of elevators and she hates that they have to ride in them. she never says anything to Lucas, but he can definitely tell that she’s afraid of them. So one time when they get a little bit of an argument and he leaves for a whole day he actually was moving there so that she didn’t have to ride an elevator. He’s just so stubborn he can’t admit his feelings, but then he goes and does stuff like that for her.

it is definitely a slow burn and they don’t get together until close to the end of the book but I think it’s worth it. they do have a few times of miscommunication, where they think the other person only thinks of them is friends, but it all works out in the end. Once they’re together, they are together and they’re not leaving each other.

There is one moment when Leora goes missing for a little bit and Lucas freaks out. It shows just how much he loves her and it was my favorite part of the book.

The next book is definitely about his brother and her friend and I’m excited because they definitely have some sort of thing that already happened with them.

I received an arc from the author.

I’m truly speechless. The writing style and storytelling was phenomenal.

I am so in love with both the two lead characters, as well as the dynamic side characters. I am such a fan of the approach taken to this slow-burn marriage of convenience romance between Lucas and Leora. We really got to dive so deep into both of their POVs, and even got to get both of their perspectives of the same moments back to back. I really enjoyed the intention behind telling the story from both POVs so deeply, because we were able to see the fire burning between them, and everything they both tried doing to put it out for so long.

When I say this book caused me emotional damage, I mean it. And in all the best ways. You need to read this book. I’m sure you will find a character to relate to- whether you love Mama Mia, hate blonde mmcs, or wish you could be in a fake marriage with a hot billionaire. I cannot wait for book 2, I’m screaming.

Okay this book is a 5 star read for me. From the very first page I was intrigued by this story. The aspect of Leora being let go from her job and her boyfriend cheating on her gave fire that she needed to explore. Lucas is finding a way to keep the legacy of the hotel within the family. When Leora ends up staying in the hotel that he owns she finds a job opportunity. But it doesn’t suit her well when she finds that he is going to take over the hotel and all they had before were meet-disasters.

The deal is simple, she gets the job and she ends up staying as her wife for a year, Lucas has to take it for his uncle. But the dislike they have towards each other shifts into tension.

The slow burn, burnt me and the way I anticipated the “f-it” moment was embarrassing at best.

The story, them falling for each other, him showing her that she doesn’t need to settle and can get everything she wants. From small to grand gestures 😭 I loved it all.

Where to even start?! This was such a hidden gem! So glad i stumble upon this book. It’s one of the best marriage-of-convenience books I’ve read so far. And Lucas was ugghhhh … just so yummy😍

She’s striking.  I don’t know what it is about her, but there’s something hidden beneath her infuriating layers—like a buried treasure waiting to be discovered, and as much as I despise it, I’m already prepared with a shovel.

"I think"—he slowly moves to my ear—"you're so funny that I want to turn that laughter of yours into screams as I bend you over my knees," he whispers, sending shivers down my spine.

It had the perfect amount of romance, angst, spice and excitement. M.Pamela has such a poetic way of describing the environment, she made me day dream my way to the French Riviera.
If you like a tall dark and handsome man with dimples, you need to read this. You will not be disappointed!!
So excited for Liam and Sophies story next!

Wow, what a great debut novel! The writing is written so well and keeps you invested throughout the book. The characters, Leora and Lucas, were so cute! I like how much I could relate to Leora, with being afraid of elevators and likes to read hihi. I definitely recommend checking it out if you love marriage of convenience/fake marriage, and “my wife” energy vibes.
I do have some issues (pls don’t read this Mimo, love you 🫶🏻) with it being so many tropes in this book and very cliche scenes (like for example: “oh god” “not god, just me”). Nothing wrong with it but it’s not my cup of tea personally. I didn’t ruin my experience whatsoever though.
And I wished the connection between H and h wasn’t as centered around their attraction to one another as it was. Sure, attraction plays a huge part with a lot of couples, but I just wished it wasn’t as big as it was in this book.
With that being said, I’m definitely impressed with how well the book was written and I did have a really good time devouring this book. I’m for sure gonna read the next books in this series!!

"What does 'Ya Amar' mean?"
"It means that you're my moon."
Because at this moment, she is the light that guides me in the dark. My one true moon.

I adored this book so much! Marriage of convenience is one of my all time favourite tropes and it was so well done in this book!

Leora was so lovely and I enjoyed seeing her growth and how she became more secure with herself and also the way she healed from her past through the book. I loved that she wasn't afraid to put Lucas in his place and she made him really work for her attention! I love her!

Lucas was so broody but it made sense because of how much pressure he had on him. I loved seeing the softer side of him that came out when he started getting close to Leora and how protective he was of her! I love him!

The slow burn was so good and made the moment they finally got together feel so worth it. The chemistry between the two of them was so good and I felt feral every time Lucas said 'my wife'!!!!

I also loved all of the side characters and the friendships between them. Leora, Adeline and Sophie's friendship was so cute and I loved how much they were there for Leora when she was struggling at the start. Seeing Lucas with his uncle and brother also added so much depth to his character and I loved all of their interactions.

I can't believe this is a debut and I'm so excited for the next book!

Thank you to the author for an ARC!

I long for her laughter to fill the air, her touch to ignite a fire within me, and her understanding to soothe my restless soul. It's as though every cell in my body yearns for her, calling out, eagerly awaiting her response. It's as if she holds the key to unlocking a part of myself I never knew existed. A part I never thought I'd find.
