Jack Kirby (born Jacob Kurtzberg) was one of the most influential, recognizable, and prolific artists in American comic books, and the co-creator of such enduring characters and popular culture icons as the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, the Hulk, Captain America, and hundreds of others stretching back to the earliest days of the medium. He was also a comic book writer and editor. His most common nickname is "The King."
This is not on the same level of the previous omnibus. The continuity is sketchy, but that’s the least of the problems - it’s the whole quality of the plots and writing the real one. Even the stories by Kirby himself are of lower value (but let’s keep in mind they were aimed to kids for a cartoon and toys series, and interestingly quite brutal for this setting) and the character of Darkseid is a shadow of his former self.
A complete mixed bag of a book. The highlights are definitely Mister Miracle, the Legion stuff, and Kirby art in super powers. The rest ranges from fine to bad. The extras are incredible and some of the best I've seen. Theres Kirby pencils and original versions of issues included which are a treat to look through.
