When Grown-Ups Fall in Love

Rate this book
This book is a sweet poem which shows families with mom and dad, two moms, and two dads. The large, colorful illustrations are great for group storytime or for one child sitting on your lap. Suitable for reading to children from newborns to 7-year-olds. The book also includes coloring pages as well as space for children to write their own family stories. Gay-friendly preschool literature is a long overdue resource for parents and teachers, both gay and straight.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Barbara Edmonds was born in Tokyo, Japan where she lived for four years before moving to California where her parents taught her that race, religious affiliation, and sexual orientation have no effect on a person's character. In 1978 she moved to Oregon where she continued her chosen career of working with children by opening Barby's House, a home-based daycare center for infants and toddlers where the motto was "No more war toys, disarmament begins in the playroom."

She is now the owner of Hundredth Munchy Publications, a company which believes that tolerant toddlers become tolerant teens. The author wants young children with gay parents to feel included in the world of preschool literature, but she believes it is equally important for young children with straight parents to learn the value of diversity and the power of love. It is her hope that future generations will live in a world where discrimination and bigotry are known only through history classes.
