Flood is the first book in a series of time-travel adventure novels which follow a group of middle to high-school aged kids as they unite to battle a mysterious villain to save Josh's father and perhaps the entire human race. The kids ages 8 to 17 are given incredible gifts by God which aid them in their adventures.
In FLOOD, Josh Davidson's dad, Edison, has created a time travel backpack that is stolen by the evil Dr. Bales, who uses it to travel to Noah's day to sink the ark! Josh and his newfound friends, with the help of Big Mike, an operative with a secret, covert organization, follow Dr. Bales to stop him before all of humanity (and nature) is completely destroyed.
THE SEVEN series carefully follows biblical history and even throws in some archaeology to show the truth behind the BIble.
Pre-reading for grands …. Not impressed. A good bit of violence to wade through in the first 1/3 …. Including an 8 yr old child whose dad held a knife to his throat for converting to Christianity from Muslim. I’m not doubting that may happen …. Just think it’s inappropriate reading for 8-11 yr olds. I also question, how does a child differentiate between biblical fact and the fictitious narrative around biblical events. Abandoned 1/3 of the way. Would not recommend. But if you do get those for your littles I highly recommend reading along with and encourage asking lots of questions.
An interesting approach to saving the world and facing the unknowns of the Bible. It took a little bit for Troy Schmidt to get to the action and heart of the books, but once he did, it was fast-paced and thought-provoking. Many plot questions are unanswered, which will be fun to discover in the rest of the series.
