Colton Davies is living the ultimate bachelor life in Keeneston as the chief fireman. He should be enjoying every moment of it, but a strange feeling in his chest suddenly takes over whenever he sees his friend Cady dancing with other men. The urge to rush in and rescue her is almost overwhelming, but he can’t let himself get carried away. Cady has been his friend for years, yet Colton’s thoughts about her are anything but friendly. Yet, with things going wrong at the distillery, Cady can’t afford to lose focus and battle for Colton’s attention. She’s not that kind of woman. As Cady tries to find out what’s behind the minor accidents at her distillery, one night changes everything. Colton comes to Cady’s rescue, and the strange feeling in his chest turns into an inferno, igniting his determination to keep Cady safe. Even if they’re just friends, he can’t let anything happen to her. Cady finally gets her forever and it has only taken Colton six years to see her! But once he does he cannot take his eyes off her and cannot unsee the amazing, strong, smart, driven and beautiful person she is....she is far too good for him! But he is going to claim her and win her heart anyway! I love Colton and Cady together, he needs someone strong and independent, not someone that simpers and worships him, but someone who is his equal, who challenges him, laughs with him, stands up to him and understands him - Cady is his one! As always there is plenty of crazy action, the panty dropper strikes, we have babies born, pregnancies announced, sexy photo shoots, the distillery is targeted and the "Keeneston Army" rally around "their girl". Love, laughter, steamy scenes and a sprinkling of madness disguised as "family".... everything you could possibly wish for, all in one book!
Forever Burning is Book #22 in the Forever Bluegrass series (Bluegrass Book #36) by Kathleen Brooks. ‘Bluegrass’ combines romance and suspense, with a touch of Southern charm. A few years ago a friend recommended this author, and her many series, to me - as she had devoured every book and absolutely loved them, singing the author’s praises from high from the hilltops. So, being an avid reader who loves discovering new authors and enticing reads, I took my friends recommendations seriously, and started amassing Ms. Brooks many books, with the plan to have a huge binge session/buddy read with my friend. But with so many books on my TBR, and new, exciting ones releasing every week, I always seemed to get pulled into other books- as these just kept piling up. Since part of my yearly reading challenges for the past few years has been to dust off my TBR pile/s and read the books that have been languishing there the longest, I decided to finally dive in and get the series read. While I did ‘enjoy’ the books for the most part- I didn’t fall madly in love with them as my friend promised that I would. But that’s ok, I am really happy that she loves them as much as she does. But for me, they were just an ‘okay’ read. With plenty of small-town drama, intrigue, angst, chemistry, humour, community, family, friendship, charm, mystery, tension, danger, emotion, and suspense- the stories are about finding love unexpectedly and love conquering all. The books can all be read as standalones if you wanted, without feeling ‘lost’ or like you are missing big pieces of the picture. This is because each instalment introduces its own ‘couple’- providing plenty of romance, a dash of suspense, and some sweet development to make your heart flutter. But I have to be honest, I found there were a few issues which detracted from my overall enjoyment of the stories/series. Such as the ‘wordiness’ which really slowed the flow of the storyline at times, as there was such an overwhelming amount of detail which didn’t really ‘add’ to or propel the story in any way, except to perhaps distract from the plot. I love details, normally- but not when there are pages of descriptions, as things tend to ‘bog’ down and the flow/pace/plot gets lost amongst the detritus- and also leads to some ‘wandering’ storylines. There were also many loose ends, for me- threads that were left hanging, or not fully woven into the storyline- which I found a bit frustrating. I really wanted to love this series as much as my friend did…. but instead, I was left a little disappointed. Happy reading! 📚💙
Oh Firefighters!!! Who doesn't like a smokin one!!! Colton was a confirmed bachelor or so he thought. Cady was set on establishing her business and proving to herself and everyone that she could do it. All it took was one dance for Colton to realize what he wanted and what has been staring him in the face for 5 years. Coltons dad and the other uncles were hysterical trying to be all intimidating towards Colton about moving forward and not hurting Cady as they were sure that was what was going to happen because he was never getting involved per himself. Even Jake thinks he is helping with the matchmaking. The interaction of the people of Keeneston is always enjoyable and usually funny. This story was no different. We have a birth with surprises, the panty dropper is still a mystery but we have 2 new pregnancies. Cassidy is next and that should be interesting cause she doesn't sit still.
My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️.25 Trope: Friends to Lovers/Romantic Suspense Spice: 🔥🔥
Synopsis: Colton has been in Cady’s friend zone for years, and that’s been fine until now. Colton sees Cady differently and now wants more. All is well until someone tries to destroy The company Cady built from the ground up.
Thoughts: I’ve been invested in this series for years. We are slowly working our way through the single people in this sweet little town. As the books continue, the author has reduced the character development, which is ok for me since I’ve read all the books, but on the flip side, the quick two liners of backstory feel a little odd and rushed. I’ll keep reading the books because I need to know what happens, but it’s slowly loosing its luster for me. However, i do love the little town and all its people, and I would love to live there if it were real.
I loved, loved, loved this book!!! It was one of her best stories filled with her trademark warmth and humor. There was the usual love, laughter, friendship, quirky characters and happenings and was also richly filled with the unwavering affection and support that makes her stories so charming to read. It was a wonderful treat also to have all the familiar and beloved Keeneston residents featured in the book... especially the Davies brothers...they were hilarious!! The dog and the cats were such an engaging part of the book also. All in all it was the type of enchanting book you do not want to end. I highly recommend it and all her books. I have had many hours of pleasure reading Kathleen's books and you will too! 😇
Colton and Cady have been friends for years. Since she moved to Kenneston, she has been friend-zoned by Colton. Cady believes there is no hope until they dance together at the latest wedding. Colton realizes that Cady could be the one for him. Cady isn't quite sure what is going on, but she knows that Colton is acting like he's finally noticing her. Cady has issues that begin to crop up at her distillery. It didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out who was behind it. She had no issues asking Colton questions, but didn't do the same to her industry colleagues. I did like their story but had a hard time feeling their spark for some reason. It was nice to see all of the OG's play a hand in trying to match them together. I still had a lot of unanswered questions at the end.
I will never get tired of the Keeneston town people, ever….Colton Davies finally unfriended Candy, the master distiller of the best bourbon around. But someone was trying to steal her recipes the she started with her father. But what the thieves didn’t know was that he had her own recipes and had places her fathers recipes always for safe keeping. After they couldn’t convince her to give them to them her life was in danger. Colton was not having that. However, the funniest part is how all the different groups think they are the one match asking the kids so they can get grand babies and great grand babies. Hilarious. Enjoy the read.
I have been intrigued by Cady for a long time. I'm way older than she is but still want to be her when I grow up. She is so driven, intelligent, ambitious yet still kind. In a male dominated occupation, she has made her own place. Colton has had his huge family to provide support and guidance his whole life. She has not had that and his uncles decide to take matters into their own hands. They make sure his intentions are pure and that Cady's heart is protected. I loved this sweet, spicy Southern romance with all my heart!
In Forever Burning, Colton, a small-town firefighter, realizes his feelings for longtime friend Cady, a bourbon master distiller, are more than just friendly. When mysterious accidents threaten Cady's distillery, Colton's protective instincts (and heart) kick into overdrive.
With sparks flying and danger lurking, their sizzling chemistry takes center stage in this fun, fast-paced romance.
If you love a romance packed with sizzling tension, a dash of danger, and one smoldering firefighter, this book's got you covered.
While I cannot say this was one of my Keenston favorite stories, it was still better than many by other authors. It's interesting to note that one of my absolute favorites is 'Forever Freed' and it is riddled with inconsistencies & problems. This one is not like that. The story is solid & consistent, the characters, most of which are ones we already know are fully developed. And, there is a Keenston twist in this one.
Wow, another amazing read from Caroline, Colton and Cady started a whirlwind romance then ended in true love tow people who were made for each other they’re friendship lasted for years and love was the next step but danger is always lurking in Keenston but together they won out and a beautiful story follows Can’t wait for Cassidy's love story
I mean, seriously, what more needs be said. Oh, I mean, I guess there’s the whole sabotage, fires, found family, finding out who doesn’t have your back, who will be there in the heat of the moment, pets, bluegrass and royalty… but, I’m not telling who does what or what secrets we find out this time around!
The way I cried in the first three chapters of this book should be illegal. It was ugly, too. After gathering myself and continuing, I fell in love with the idea of Colton and Cady. Cade and the men meddling was a huge part of my laughs and leg kicking excitement.
It's almost to the end, and it still feels like I'm reading her books for the first time. Colton and Cady are the most recent couple to find love in keengston. In the midst of danger, laughs, and a beautiful quirky town, Colton finds love with his friend Cady and we see a wild adventure to get to their happiness.
I laughed, I giggled, I cried when the twins were born and in jeopardy. Then Princess came into the story and I cheered for her! She and Ginny tickled me to the entire rest of the story. She reminded me of Bob from the Bluegrass brothers. I love it. Will be rereading it soon!
This book was another excellent book from Kathleen. What I disliked about it was it was too short. I loved the story line. I would recommend this book and all her other books to anybody who loves to read. She hits all the points. Funny, romantic, suspense, thriller.
As always, Kathleen Brooks writes a great story. I really love the wide range of characters in this series. You always find, romance, intrigue and laughter in her stories. Cady is strong and likeable and over comes bullying and harassment . Loved the animals antics as well.
I really like the series. This book made me laugh out loud during one part. I like revisiting the community through the authors books. A great book to escape with. I read to get that hea most people want. I like books to have a complete end, no cliffhangers. This author is consistent with writing those kind of books.
I love the flow from each book to the next. The characters bloom as they grow older, and the comical parts are wonderful. I love the mystery and suspense that is encompassed in the loyalty of the town!
If you like handsome men, women who can hold their own, and quirky animals, this is a book for you. Plan your day accordingly because you will only put it down when it's finished.
This series had me hooked from the first book. The individuals and their stories are enriched by all that has happened before and the promise of more to come.
double C, from friend to lover, partner, enjoy the dad's involvement for preparing family dinner, somehow, they mentioned about total 45 persons, wow, what a big big family with four generation.
Each book in the series is different from the next. The heroes and heroines are strong independent and endearing. I have enjoyed each book and look forward to the next. Keen Easton is my favorite fictional town.
Another excellent book from Kathleen Brooks. Her books never fail to hold your I interest or attention. Very highly recommend this author. Always full of excitement, danger, family and friends. Makes you feel as if you are a part of it.
Always a winner with this series! Love all of them. So good to catch up with favorite characters and meet some new ones. Lots of adventures in each story and an ending that makes me smile! Good read!
Loving reading about all the characters from Keenston. The matchmaking is my favorite part. Looking forward to reading about Cassidy story. One question just how old are the Rose sisters??
Another great book from Kathleen. Brooks, I truly love this series. It never gets old the stories are refreshing, funny and entertaining. Lively characters with thrilling action .
Kathleen has done it again with another 5 star hit. I loved this entire storyline. Usually I can guess who the bad guy is, but this one kept me on my toes. I love Colton and Cady. The Davies brothers kept me laughing the whole book!!
This is another story of love, romance, marriage, and family in Keeneston, KY, with the Davies progeny. Love-them-and-leave-them Colton, aka Mr. December on the local firefighters' calendar, sets his sights on pretty bourbon maker and entrepreneur Cady.
