She thought love was lost to her until a stranger with a secret connection to her former fiancé opens her heart to a second chance at love in this uplifting contemporary romance from Amy Clipston.

It's been eighteen months since Darcy Larsen's fiancé, Jace, was killed in a car accident on his way to pick up Darcy's medicine from the pharmacy. Eighteen months of missing him and struggling to overcome her heartache, grief, and guilt. Unwilling to open up her heart to more hurt, Darcy is sure her one chance at a Happily Ever After is gone, until a random encounter with a handsome stranger changes everything.

Carter Donovan has a new lease on life. An emergency kidney transplant saved his life, but while he's eternally thankful to the anonymous donor, he can't help but feel like a burden to his family. Forced to move in with his sister and her family, he's ready to move forward--past his broken engagement and his former illness and embrace his second chance at life and love.

When Darcy's car breaks down and Carter rushes to the rescue, these two souls are thrown together in an unexpected way. As they start to date, Darcy feels herself coming back to life, and Carter begins to believe in the future again. But as they grow closer and open up more about their hopes, fears, and pasts, an explosive secret threatens to break down the gentle romance they've built. Carter's transplant isn't as anonymous as he'd first thought, and its connection to Darcy--and her fiancé Jace--could shatter everything they've built.

Finding You is a lovely, touching romance and a great start to a new series. This story is about a chance meeting of Darcy and Carter in a parking lot of a medical office center. Carter, a mechanic, comes to Darcy's rescue when her car won't start. Their acquaintance begins after he repairs the car at the shop where he works. They become friends with the promise of more, but slowly as both are carrying burdens that prohibit them from pursuing a relationship. Or so they think. It is a complicated situation especially later when their lives are more connected than either of them knew as layers of their lives are peeled back and revealed. Sweet story with a lovely ending. The author mentioned that the story is loosely based on her own personal life. I look forward to the next in the series. This will appeal to those who enjoy romance with twists and complications to overcome.

This book is an emotional roller-coaster for all the right reasons. Kleenex is recommended!

So, what happens when so much has occurred in your life which brings on guilt and grief and keeps you from believing you are entitled to a happily-ever-after?

Well, you live the life of Darcy and Carter. Who just happen to find one another in the most interesting way, with so many parallel life experiences, that they don’t necessarily share with each other.

Will they find a way to open up to one another? And, will they be able to come to terms with their complicated past and present, and allow themselves to experience their own happily-ever-after?

So, with these questions in mind (no spoilers from me), let’s just consider that this is what makes this rom-com so readable.

This is a beautifully written, clean romance filled with unexpected circumstances that are life-changing.
Darcy is thankful that after a favorable kidney transplant a few years ago, her check-ups are good. However, she can’t let go of the guilt she carries concerning the death of her fiancé in a car accident when picking up medications for her at a pharmacy. Darcy also is very indecisive, vacillating about starting a search for her birth mother. She was adopted by a loving older couple that she loves and adores. She has had a wonderful life and at 27 years old she and her parents have a loving and solid relationship. She doesn’t want to hurt them; however, she wonders where she came from and who she looks like. Also, is her kidney disease something that could be passed on to any potential future children?
Carter is a handsome mechanic who just happens to be in the parking lot when Darcy’s car doesn’t start. He offers help, and attempts to charge her battery. Instead, he ends up having it towed to the shop he works at. He is still recovering from a difficult break-up, is working to pay off a huge debt resulting in medical expenses and lives with his sister and brother in-law. He hasn’t dated for over a year, since the break-up, and has withdrawn from socializing with many of his friends. He and Darcy seem to have a connection however, and they both feel it.
This is a fascinating, poignant story, as well as somewhat of an emotional experience. Darcy feels a definite connection to Carter, however, despite the connection between them, Carter feels he is not worthy of Darcy, who has graduated from college, has a professional career, wealthy parents and drives a Lexus. His financial situation prohibits much dating anyway.
All the books I’ve read by Amy Clipson have had loveable, relatable characters, and this one is no exception.

A beautiful, heartfelt story about fate, second chances, grief, loss, moving on after the death of a loved one and serendipity all revolving around two characters both effected by chronic kidney disease who fall in love and find themselves connected in the most unexpected ways. Great on audio and perfect for fans of authors like Nicholas Sparks, Kristan Higgins or Laura Bradley. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early audio copy in exchange for my honest review!

Thanks to Netgalley, for this advanced audio copy of Finding You, in exchange for an honest review.

“That's the thing about love, man. It changes you. When you find it, your life will be transformed forever. Don't be afraid to let yourself experience it. It happens when you least expect it to.”

Eighteen months ago, Darcy lost her fiancee in a car accident. She’s struggling with moving on and letting go. She’s not sure that she will ever find what she had with Jace ever again.

Carter had an emergency kidney transplant, and ever since, he’s been trying to dig his way out of the medical debt and strain it’s put on others in his life. He’s tired of not being able to get ahead.

Darcy’s car breaks down one day after she’s leaving the doctors office, and she’s late for work. No one is around to help, her family is out of town. Discouraged, and not knowing what to do, she picks up her phone to call a tow truck. Carter is a mechanic and hears the clicking of the car next to his. He knocks on her window and little do either of them know, life is about to change for them both. As they grow closer, they struggle with being honest about their personal issues, until one day, a truth they’ve been holding back, threatens to shatter what they have built.

This was my first book by Amy Clipston. I was immediately drawn in by the forward in the beginning of the book, it talks about how the author actually lived a piece of this story, because her husband had a kidney transplant. It was such a great read, and the characters were very likable. Through the authors writing, I could sense her heart was close on the pages, having gone through a similar situation. It was such a sweet, clean, romance that gave me all the feels. It was so much more than just a romance, it dealt with many issues including adoption, trauma, loss, and many more. Will definitely be checking out more from this author in the future.

This book was different than ones I’ve usually been reading. The beginning was a bit cheesy with how they met and she instantly liked him. I’m not really a fan of that. I felt myself cringing at certain parts. Her best friend constantly told her to date him and his sister constantly told him to date her. They’re already thinking about kissing each other and they haven’t even known each other for that long. Carter constantly didn’t think he was good enough for her. There were just too many scenes where I cringed or were just weird. Also, how they both didn’t want to tell each other about their kidney disease when they literally experienced the same thing. Their attraction to each other felt based only on the way each other looked which was so annoying. The kissing was a bit much. Towards the end the two were being absolutely ridiculous and stupid! I wanted to throw the book across the room! I was reminded why I usually don’t read books like this.

When a chance encounter creates the setting for a second chance at love for Darcy and Carter, both are cautious. He's had his heart broken before, a father that abandoned him and his medical debt has stripped him from all financial security. Darcy fiance passed away, she's blaming herself, and she's searching for her biological parents. They are both on the mend from what life threw at them, BUT then they meet each other. It is love at first sight. And while they both realize their love is different... they are both cautious to tell the other about their kidney transplants. So what happens when their truth slips out, they find out they haven't been totally honest, and then an even more shocking truth about their transplants threatens to tear their whole possible future apart!

Wonderful, wonderful story! The chemistry between Darcy and Carter was amazing! There was so much love, so much pain, but most of all this is a story of second chances... in LOVE and most of all LIFE after the transplant.

***Thank you Thomas Nelson Publishing and Net Galley for this early copy. The review is all my own opinion.

What an adorable story! This might be my all time favorite by Amy Clipston, and that’s saying a LOT because I’ve read all of her books. The story is centered around organ donation (specifically kidney donation) which is something deeply personal to the author and it was handled really well. (Her Author’s Note at the beginning was particularly moving.)

I loved both Darcy and Carter. They were perfect for each other and I enjoyed reading from both of their perspectives. Normally I don’t like stories where characters keep things from each other, but in this case, I can totally understand why Darcy wouldn’t share about her kidney transplant with a guy she’s just getting to know. Carter was a sweetheart and a genuinely nice guy. He was kind and supportive. He and Darcy had a lot of fun together but also were able to talk about heavier subjects.

I also really loved the support system each of the characters had. Darcy’s adoptive parents were wonderful people, and I also loved her relationship with Haven, who was a really good friend to her. Carter’s sister and brother in law were very supportive as well and I loved both of them.

It was a beautiful story. I loved every moment of it. Highly recommend.

TITLE: FINDING YOU
AUTHOR: Amy Clipston
PUB DATE: 07.09.2024 Now Available

On the outside, twenty-seven-year-old Darcy Larsen is a pretty, put-together professional—but inside she’s falling apart. Eighteen months ago, she lost her fiancé in an accident she still blames herself for. After a successful transplant, her kidney disease seems to be in check, but she worries that her future children—if she has any—will also suffer from the same condition. And she’s overcome with indecision about finding her birth mother, discovering potentially devastating information, and hurting her adoptive parents.

Mechanic Carter Donovan seems to have everything going for him at first glance. Stunning good looks. A wicked sense of humor. And a heart of gold. But Carter’s seemingly perfect exterior hides a host of secrets. After a rough breakup and mounting medical bills from a medical emergency that left him drowning in debt, he doesn’t feel like the catch everyone says he is. Plus, he’s about to turn thirty—with no romantic prospects on the horizon.

THOUGHTS:

As a nurse, I really appreciated the themes and topics addressed in this beautifully written contemporary romance by Amy Clipston. Right from the start, I was immediately engrossed into the story and had me rooting for Darcy and Carter - these characters were so relatable and they certainly give a lot of hope for those faced with challenges. I enjoyed the complex story line and the hopeful message.

I loved it! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Darcy meets Carter when her car won’t start just before she’s off to a meeting for work. They don’t exchange numbers but keep meeting and it turns out that Carter went to school with Darcy’s best friend’s boyfriend, Derek.

This is Darcy’s first relationship since the death of her fiancé, Jace who was killed in a car accident. Carter hasn’t been in a relationship since his kidney transplant, his girlfriend dumped him, and in turn, Carter has incurred debt regarding his hospitalization. He’s afraid that Darcy will reject him when she learns about the truth. Darcy hasn’t been upfront with Carter about her kidney transplant as well.

They go around in circles until Carter and Darcy are forced to deal with the secrets they have been holding back from each other. I liked seeing the resolution that Carter eventually had with his father who had abandoned him as a child felt he was a failure and kept projecting that into his present and that was a block for him. Some themes kept coming up and that were love, family, grief, and communication, and I liked that they resolved all the issues affecting their relationship and moved forward. Recommended!

My gratitude to Netgalley and Thomas Nelson. All opinions expressed are mine.

While the characters and story are cute at times it felt kind of disjointed at times. Lots of repetitive themes and descriptions. The way it was written in 3rd person and switched back and forth between the characters made it hard for me to follow at times. I wanted more character development outside of the two of them and that felt lacking for me.

It’s sweet and I’m sure it will be a lot of people’s cup of tea it just wasn’t for me - gives major hallmark movie vibes.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book, given to me by Thomas Nelson Fiction via Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
A heartwarming story, beautifully written, with gentle, kind characters, “Finding You”, by Amy Clipston, deals with life-altering medical issues with sensitivity, close knowledge of the subject matter and a positive tone.
I loved Darcy and Carter and the natural way they connect and bond. They both have big hearts and their mutual attraction begins and grows seamlessly.
Carter has doubts about his self-worth, while Darcy is dealing with issues of her own. But they are both kind, thoughtful people.
I liked that the hero is a mechanic and is dealing with some economical limitations and the way the author wrote about this contrast to the heroine’s situation.
I enjoyed watching them doing things together and how their relatives and friends are brought into the story. They are so compassionate and supportive.
Perhaps they both delayed too much the revelation of their secrets but in general they were honest with each other.
I liked how the author wrote about the medical issues and the very choice she made in fictional terms.
While dealing with a sensitive subject this book was a joy and pleasure to read and evokes such positive emotions!

Such a powerful story! The story has such a personal touch to it as the author is able to weave her own experiences with organ donation into the story. I could feel the depth of the emotions throughout the story!

The characters of Carter, Darcy, Gage, Shauna, Haven and Derek were so memorable. I loved how Carter and Darcy each had their own person who supported them so well. Both of the main characters struggle with their own past and how to move on.

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the arc. The opinions are my own.

This was such a beautiful and emotional story. From their very first chance meeting when he helps her after her car breaks down at the doctor's office, Darcy and Carter are drawn to each other. But both have some reservations given their histories. Darcy had lost her fiancé a year and half ago, blaming herself for his death. Carter is facing financial struggles due to health issues and finds himself feeling like he's not good enough to provide for someone else--- especially Darcy whose family is much better offer. If that weren't enough, they're also each keeping the same secret--- they had both had a kidney transplant. Throw in some complicated family issues and there was really a lot going on within this story--- but it was all blended together quite beautifully. It was definitely an emotional read, but I found myself rooting for these two (even if I also wanted to shake them to just talk to each other!) The author's husband also received a kidney transplant, and I think her heart for the topic shined through in this story.

If you're looking for a sweet and emotional romance, this is certainly one to check out.

4.5 stars This was a good audiobook and book. I liked the narration a lot. The story kept me interested. carter and Darcy are an amazing couple. The book also brings more awareness to the importance of organ donation and educates about shared/paired kidney donation. There was a small aspect of the story that I didn’t like, but it still was an enjoyable book. I got an advanced “readers” copy of the audiobook from netgalley , but my review is unbiased.

Finding You was such a beautiful and touching story, and I knew as soon as I read the Author’s Note that this book had me hooked. Amy Clipston has written such a heartwarming and personal story about fate and I promise you that this one is going to stick with you.

From the outside looking in, Darcy seems to have her life put together. But that could not be farther from the truth. She lost her fiancé less than two years ago in a tragic accident. On top of that, despite the fact that she had a successful kidney transplant, she’s worried that any future children will suffer from the same condition. Carter also seems to have his life put together. He’s a mechanic, but a bad breakup and some medical bills have put him in debt. When Darcy’s car breaks down in her doctor’s parking lot, Carter is there to save the day and the two instantly hit it off. But despite the connection, there are many obstacles that the two have to overcome in order to see make their happily ever after.

Finding You, by Amy Clipston, is an amazing contemporary Christian fiction story. This is a well written, easy to read and imagine story. I enjoyed this story because it has so much meaning to it. It is about real life situations that most people don’t even think about. I enjoyed Darcy’s and Carter’s stories and how their health condition affected them, their thoughts and their relationship to those around them. I especially enjoyed how helpful Carter’s sister is toward him to help him get back on his feet financially. It is interesting to see the different relationships they have toward their parents as well. This is an enjoyable story to read, one that sticks with the reader after finishing it.

Darcy has had a rough few years. First she was diagnosed with kidney disease and then received a kidney transplant and then her fiancé tragically died in a car accident. The last thing Darcy is looking for right now is a relationship, but after her car breaks down, she finds she can't stop thinking about (and running into) mechanic Carter. Will Darcy be able to open her heart up for love? I really enjoyed this story and the complexity of the characters. I also appreciated some of the nods to some of the other characters and settings from Amy Clipston's other contemporary romances. I recommend this book for lovers of contemporary romance.

Two kidney transplant recipients find love. Each is afraid to share their medical surgery. Her fiancee died in a car accident when getting her medications. She feels responsible for his death. She finds her birth mother who later convinces her to let go of the guilt about JAce DYING. She also meets her half brothers. Carter is a car mechanic and feels he doesn’t have much to offer Darcy. This was an enjoyable book to read! It was a little heavy at times, but many happy circumstances evened it out. My favorite place was Darcy's parents' beach house. I wish that I had a place like that! 😄

The characters are relatable and easy to like! Darcy and Carter connected over many similar issues. Their romance was sweet and sometimes complicated. When they finally let all their walls come down, their love blossoms. Haven and Shauna are my favorites! They tell it like it is but with love and tenderness. They are supportive and loyal.

So many different issues were brought up. Kidney transplants, death of a fiance, a search for a biological mom, a fractured father and son relationship, and financial hardship. Just like in real life, some things worked out, and others didn't. Amy Clipston handled each issue with care. I look forward to reading her next book!

Thank you to Thomas Nelson Fiction, Harper Collins Christian Audio, Amy Clipston, and NetGalley for an early review audiobook. All the opinions shared in this review are my own.

Darcy Larson, a kidney transplant recipient, leaves her check up with good news, but then her car breaks down. She is rescued by Mechanic Carson Donovan who is also a kidney transplant recipient. They are immediately drawn to each other, but fail to share their medical issues with the other. They must each must learn to work through several issues before they can have a successful relationship.

I mostly enjoyed Melissa Morgan’s narration of this audiobook. I would say her voice definitely fit the characters. I did not find her performance to be a standout performance, but she did allow me to get into the flow of the book. She indicates each new chapter as she starts. I think this is a good book to listen to on audio.

This book was middle of the road for me. It was not a stand out. I feel parts of the story could have been better fleshed out. I would like to have had more information on the characters backstories. I also found the lack of honest communication relating to their medical issues annoying. Another thing that bothered me was the lack of faith elements in the book. I would at least expect to see church going. The only church mentioned in this book was for a wedding. I find that disappointing.

A person looking for a somewhat fluffy, feel good read will enjoy this book. Someone looking for a faith filled book will want to skip this book.

This is a story about two people from very different backgrounds who both happen to be kidney transplant survivors. Darcy is the adopted daughter of wealthy parents with a good job and great friends. But underneath all that she struggles with feelings of guilt over her fiancee’s death and a sense of not knowing who she is because she doesn’t know where she came from. Carter is a handsome and kind man with a stable job, but he struggles with feelings of inadequacy because of his father’s abandonment when he was a child and because of his financial struggles. Both characters are understandable and easy to care about. I enjoyed following their story and seeing their relationship unfold. Their relationship was full of ups and downs and I found myself crying with them at times. Overall I recommend this book.

This is my honest opinion based on the complimentary review copy sent by NetGalley and the publisher. I was not required to give a favorable review.

I listened to half on the way to visit my parents. I finished it today on the way back. I really enjoyed the story a lot and I feel connected to the characters. I definitely recommend it!

The narrator, Melissa Moran, was new to me. She was mostly good in the general stuff, main characters, and even the male characters. Her voices for a couple of the moms (minor characters) were very sing-song and overdone/exaggerated. Sometimes she over-dramatized in other areas as well—at least for my taste.

For the most part I was satisfied with the narration but I’m not sure if I’d listen to something again with the same narrator.

The organ donor storyline was really interesting and I learned some things. There was also an estranged parent and bio-parent storyline that included a lot of raw emotion. I do wish there was more of a faith direction. There was no real talk of God or praying. More of a traditional worldview but no relationships with Christ.

I rated this novel with 4+ stars and I definitely think many will really enjoy it just as I did.
