“If you had the power to shut off gravity and make things rise at will, what would you do with that power?” It’s not a rhetorical question to Otis Blackstone—he discovers, quite by accident, he has this power. In what’s supposed to be a summer of Wiffle ball and ice cream, Otis experiments and learns more about his superpower. He learns it only works on inanimate objects, there are limits, and initially, he has no idea what it’s good for. He keeps it a secret for fear someone will find out and make fun of him, or make him do horrible things with it. But eventually, he uses it on the field, pitching his “superpower riser” and his team to victory. But even as they chase after the championship, Otis worries that someone might be pursuing him, too.
