This book is insane. It was fun to read, but it was so, so insane. I wonder what this authors political views are, I honestly couldn’t tell.

Not At All What Was Expected

I thought this might pick up where the last book left off, but it started in with a new protagonist. That was fine. What wasn't fine is that this whole book was nothing more than the author bashing the Federal Government and beating his audience over the head with his political views... and whether or not I agree with the author's politics is neither here nor there. This is not at all what I expected or wanted when I bought this book. Unfortunately I bought books 2 and 3 based on the strength of book 1. I hope the last book in the trilogy leaves the politics behind and gets back to horror as the subject matter. If not, I won't be reading the last book in the trilogy.

A Novel About an Immortal/Man/Werewolf

WWJ has written a novel about a man who was born as an immortal. The species of wolves that change shape, Shape shifters, are north as wolf pups, but soon after birth they assume human form. When the cub is born the wolf family knows there future is safe in the hands of the immortal. The young man eventually lands in the US he serves in every modern war to become the ultimate warrior. This is an excellent read for the genre. I recommend this novel to the people that have an open mind who can see the different points the author has made to the people concerning the future of the US.....ER

A good read!

Although this book really pushes 1 side of government abuse of power, it is very well written and enlightening to those who are somewhat in the dark. Really like the characters!

Fabulous

I love William Johnstone's paranormal writing. He had a wonderful knack for keeping that world true to his vision without seeming odd.

Wow!! If part of this is true, (not about Darry), we are no longer the 'land of the free and home of the...'! I could feel my blood pressure rising the more I read.
Great book!!!

I like other works of late Mr. Johnstone a lot, but this is not so nice as I thought. Still, the idea is interesing and dogs are fluffy.

Shape shifter versus corrupt government

This is definitely a different take on a shape shifter and despite that a lot of the political information was too detailed, I really enjoyed the storyline. Imagine that you can't be killed and imagine what atrocities you would see throughout your life of 700 years. Also imagine being hunted by man for most of that time. It would make a normal person crazy but not Darry. He has remained one of the good guys who wants to live his life simply. Then, the government finds him and a new revolution has begun. Now, I am off to read the next book in the series and I can't wait to see his next journey.

Very well written book with a few editing snafus. Great characters, as timely today as it was in 1995 when it was published! Action, wolf shifters, rogue Federal agents, survivalists, militias, Liberal morons, Federal government pukes and more abound in this 2nd book of a great series! Johnstone always has exciting reads and has them well researched!

Pro-gun, anti government crap.

Don't bother. This went from a werewolf book to "big brother is watching you" real fast. It's really tiring. Kooky.

WTF just happened? I’m worried about this author do people really think this stuff? No wonder the US is in such a mess, if this is any reflection at all of how people are thinking.
