After solving another case of amateur gumshoe, Jane decides to treat herself to a holiday in a luxurious resort in Gozo. Me being her cat, I am less than thrilled with our travel arrangements. She had the audacity to bring along Timon and his aptly named dog, Monster. Now, Jane and Timon are fighting, and Monster is one tail sniff away from getting clawed in the face. In need of a break, I hop to go from the balcony and go exploring. On the prowl, I discover a distressed cat trapped in a hotel room with the dead body of her owner. Befriending the cat, I bring Jane in to help me discover who is responsible for her beloved owner's death. Is this somehow connected to the woman next door who hates cats? Or is Timon’s mysterious connection to the victim the key to unlocking the truth?Publishing date will be pushed forward.
J.S Ellis is a thriller author. She has a degree in creative writing, English literature, and digital marketing. She lives in Malta with her fiancé and their fur baby Eloise. When she’s not writing or reading, she’s either cooking, eating cheese and chocolate, or listening to good music and enjoying a glass of wine or two.
After Theodore‘s new owner Jane books her a holiday Timon and his dog Monster goes with them but so does the girl Jane thinks he is cheating with. When she is found dead that alone makes it a horrible holiday but it doesn’t stop with her. Can Theodore and Jane once again solve the crime and live to talk about it? I love these books and love that I get so excited to see what Theodore thinks in every other chapter. I really thought one moment Timon would be the one The clearly he is just the latest these are really fun cozy mysteries were Jane and her witty cat Theodore solve crimes I find them funny intelligently done and also entertaining! If you love fun cozy mysteries with animals to boot you’ll definitely love this book by JS Ellis. Please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.
This is officially one of my favorite authors. Her writing is so smooth and detailed just enough it's like a movie playing in your head as you're reading.
The story is about Theodore and his human Jane. They go to Paris with Jane's companion Timon and his dog Monster. This trip was supposed to be a relaxing get away but a misunderstand erupts and Jane and Timon are in the outs.
The tension between Jane and Timon gets worse when the woman Timon is mistakenly taken as his new lady is found murdered in her hotel room.
Theodore and Jane are on a mission to find out what happened and who the killer is.
If you love cats, mysteries and thriller. This book has you covered. Highly recommend.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ Theodore: Purr-fect secrets by J.S. Ellis was cute! Seriously, cute! When I requested this book I didn't realise this is Theodore: The Neighbour's Cat Book 3. But, what is good, there is a quick summary, at the beginning, so you sort of know what happened but I would advise starting with book one!
This book is presented from 2 points of view: Jane (the owner) and Theodore (the cat). As a cat person, I loved it so much! It's so cute how the author gave the voice to this cat!
It's definitely a quick read with some twists and turns, it's an easy read and definitely a page-turner! I literally decided that I must finish before I go to sleep!
Jane and her boyfriend Timon went on holiday. The time that is supposed to be relaxing turns into a nightmare! A young woman is found dead and there is a connection but no one knows who did it! This person has a cat and Theodore is invested to find what this cat knows...
There is a cute and wonderful series that I want to bring to the attention of all readers who love a good mystery and are animal lovers. J. S. Ellis has written a fun series that is about a cat named Theodore. You definitely will want to read this series.
The first book is The Neighbour’s Cat, book 2 is The Cat Saw Who Did It and the newest one I just finished is Theodore: Purr-fect Secrets. These are all stand alone novels but, I’m sure if you read them from the beginning you will have a fuller understanding of the background. I came in on book 2 and need to go back and read book one!
Here is the best deal ever! The first two books are on sale this week only for 99c.
The fun part of these books is Theodore narrates one chapter and his owner the next one. You get the perspective of human, feline and sometimes canine. I have enjoyed the goings on and the murder story in both of the books that I read and I think you will appreciate them too. I was not able to figure this one out and I don’t think I was able to figure book two out either. I wouldn’t make a good detective. I can’t ever solve a murder.
I am not sure if there are any more Theodore books coming but, I think I see where there might be a continuation of this story. I would like to see if Jane finds a new relationship. Jane is an author also which makes it kind of fun. These books are not very long but, I don’t feel cheated. You get everything a much longer novel provides.
I have taken an interest in Jane and what is happening to her and although I am a dog person, Theodore is irresistible!
If you are a mystery lover like I am and you can’t resist an adorable cat then you have to read the Theodore books. I think you are going to enjoy this fun and unique series. Until next time…Happy Reading!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from #J. S. Ellis. The opinions I have expressed are my own and I was not required to write a review. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.
In this third installment of ‘The Neighbor’s Cat’ series by J.S. Ellis, our protagonist Jane embarks on a vacation to the picturesque Maltese island of Gozo, accompanied by her cat Theodore, her boyfriend Timon, and Timon’s dog, Monster. Their tranquil getaway takes a dramatic turn when a social media influencer – the same one Jane suspects Timon of having an affair with – unexpectedly arrives at their resort, only to end up dead!
Cat lovers will find themselves particularly drawn to the unique, anthropomorphic twist where Jane’s cat, Theodore, is credited as the ‘author’ of alternating chapters. The chapters penned from Theodore’s perspective are not only smart and funny, but also surprisingly believable. The bond that Jane and Theodore share is depicted with such warmth that it tugs at the heartstrings.
While the chapters are succinct, making for a quick read, the narrative could have benefited from the more gradual build-up and reveal, that is a characteristic elements of mystery novels. Instead, the story sees Jane leaving the resort without any resolution, only to plod around at home, and then a sudden, action-packed break-in at her apartment by an unidentified person. The narrative then leaps forward a couple of months to explain everything to the reader in the concluding four pages.
The book makes several references to characters and events from the two preceding books in the series. I would recommend potential readers start with those two books to fully appreciate the antics of Theodore and Jane, and to understand the backstory.
My thanks to Book Sirens and J.S. Ellis for providing an advance review copy for free so that I might voluntarily write this review.
Theodore is not your average mystery-solving cat. He's a normal, non-talking cat, but has a unique, confident persona. His introduction to murder came from his first owner, a very bad man. This book is stand-alone, but I recommend that you read previous Theodore books because you'll love them! I thoroughly enjoy my vicarious vacation to Malta every time I read one.
Theodore's participation in the plot is entirely believable, which makes the story scarier. He's a risk-taker and makes my heart freeze with fear for him. I enjoy the ways the author uses how people don't expect much from cats, and some of their ideas about them are dead wrong.
Theodore’s relationship with dogs, for example, contradicts the adage that cats hate them. Though I'm a (catless) Cat Lady, it's satisfying that dogs also have a strong presence in this series. Monster is a terrific character in his own right.
Poor Jane has had a serious run of bad luck and can be easily forgiven for being untrusting of the people she meets. I can relate. The only human characters I trust in these books aside from Theodore and Jane are the other pets!
Despite her troubles, Jane's a good person and will go far out of her comfort zone for others, and I like that. She's not a superhero, but can't leave things for the professionals to solve if she isn't taken seriously. She trusts Theodore’s instincts and has learned to watch him carefully because he's literally saved her life. They’re an unusual team of mystery solvers.
Purr-fect Secrets was an absorbing read with some shocking twists. I loved the journey, but reaching the end made me feel bereft. I will miss them! I'll be watching for more of Theodore's (and Jane’s) adventures and hope that they'll come soon.
Thank you so much to J.S. Ellis, Black Ink Press, and BookSirens for the free advance reader's copy of Purr-fect Secrets. They've put me under no obligation to color my review, but I'm happy to rave that it's a fun, suspenseful read that mystery fans will love!
Theodore: Purr-fect Secrets by J. S. Ellis is the third in the engaging Theodore: The Neighbor's Cat series. Told in alternating chapters by Theo the cat and his human, Jane, this is a zippy and quick read, ideal for those who enjoy pets in their mysteries. This time, Jane and her partner are at a resort when things take a nasty turn. Deceptions are rife and so is murder. Jane happens to be in the thick of things and uses her detecting skills as a crime writer to question and investigate. She is also understandably very much in love with her cat.
Though the mystery itself is fairly predictable, I enjoyed the story for its wit, quirkiness and dual perspectives, especially that of Theo who meets a new friend. His descriptions of Jane and his twitchy cat moods feel authentic. My only complaint is that the novel is a bit too short to become emotionally involved in. However, it is an excellent palate cleanser. When reading this series, I automatically envision a characterful cat I am particularly fond of, very much like Theo!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Cozy murder with teeth Another Theodore: the curious cat mystery. This is a mixed bag of cozy with a dark side. Maltese indie author of crime fiction, Jane has had her hands full with murder and so decides to book a fun vacation for herself and her partner, Timon, picked up from the last murder. She has chosen a place that is swank but allows pets so that their entourage can all go: Jane; Theodore, Jane’s cat and murder solver; Timon, as well as Timon’s Doberman, Monster, appropriately named. What they do not expect is another murder and one so closely associated to Jane and Timon. Jane finds out that Timon and the murder victim Piper who is an influencer of some renown know each other. She becomes quite irritated so their glorious vacation starts to fizzle; even more so after the murder. Honestly, I never figured out “who done it” throughout the book. Interesting surprise ending too. If you like a fairly short but well-plotted murder mystery with a wee bit of a sharp edge, please try this book and series. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book through BookSirens.
Jane and her partner, Timon together with their pets namely Theodore (cat) and Monster(dog) are going to the expensive resort for getaway.
.
The trip started with Jane frustrated with her partner for having a thing with the American influencer name Piper Davis.
.
Jane is even furious when she's getting ready for dinner, she found out Timon is having discussion with the same influencer. How the heck that influencer knows about her trip?!
.
That night itself, murder took place. Piper Davis was murdered.
How did that happen?
.
Seriously I finished this book in one sitting. Such compelling read. The twists and turns make this book unputdownable. A good read those who enjoy thriller or simply loves cats and love books at the same time.

I have to admit to being disappointed with this book. I've read others by Ms. Ellis and loved them and was expecting to enjoy this one just as much. The story is engaging up until almost the very end. Ms. Ellis stops the story in the middle of a confrontation in Jane's apartment, and then, instead of showing the reader the story's conclusion, she jumps ahead a couple of months and then just tells the reader what occurred during that time. Very disappointing for me. However, this will not stop me from reading any other books by Ms. Ellis that I can get my hands on. Maybe just not this series. Even though I must admit that Ms.Ellis did manage to tug on my heartstrings a couple of times during the story. Especially since I am a sucker for dogs and cats.
I received a review copy from the author via BookSirens and this is my honest opinion.
Thank you, BookSirens and the author, for providing me with this copy. Here is my honest review.
Jane decides to treat herself to a holiday at a luxurious resort in Gozo. She, Timon, and their pets—a cat named Theo and a dog named Monster—settle into the resort for a relaxing getaway. However, their vacation takes a dark turn when a murder occurs at the hotel. The story unfolds from Theo's perspective as the clever cat observes and pieces together clues.
This author has become one of my favorites and an autobuy for me. I loved the story and enjoyed every single page. I was eagerly looking forward to reading it and loved how smoothly the story flowed. The dual points of view were fantastic. I cannot wait to read other stories from this author, especially the first two in this series.
Short, sweet, thrilling, captivating, and straight to the point. ♡
J.S. Ellis is hands down of my favorite authors. I haven't read one thing by her that I haven't absolutely loved. I love a good mystery and these with Theodore the cat are super fun to read.
Theordore and his owner, Jane, are off to Paris with her companion, Timon and his dog Monster. What starts off as a relaxing holiday is interrupted when there is an argument between Jane and Timon. Things go from bad to worse when the woman that Timon was mistakenly into ends up dead in her hotel room.
It's up to Theodore and Jane to find the real killer and prove that Timon is innocent. A quick read with fun twists and turns you will not be disappointed. I received this book free from Booksirens for an honest review.
I love the way this book is written, as Jane the owner and Theodore, her cat.
It's good the way they work separately, but then it all comes together to solve the case.
Jane, who is a writer and amateur detective along with Theodore, becomes involved in the death of a woman, while on holiday in Gozo. This leads to many unexpected situations and dangers.
This has a well written and different storyline and plot with strong characters and some humour.
It is a very enjoyable book, and I look forward to more in the series.
My thanks to Booksirens for the opportunity to read this book. This is my honest and unbiased review
This was an interesting and entertaining mystery. I was at a total loss as to who killed who! This sparked my neurons and made me feel alive following along. I kept thinking " who has this much trouble come into their lives?" It was like Jane was a murder magnet. She had no clue, but in her defense, neither did I. I was shocked and surprised when the reveal came. I really enjoy when the author puts it all out there for those of us that can't figure it out. I enjoyed this to the max! I voluntarily read a free copy of this book provided by book sirens and am giving an honest opinion.
I received a free ARC of this book and I am leaving an honest and voluntary review. Theo and Jane find themselves caught up in tragedy when a trip away goes wrong. I feel the premise of this was sound, but I did feel that the "whodunnit" aspect at the end was rushed. It felt to me as if there should have been another chapter leading up to the reveal and possibly a few after to explain as there were a few red herrings that seemed superfluous and not really explained away. That being said, I enjoy J.S Ellis' writing style

There was a great deal of go round with the characters in this installment. Too many boyfriends and spouses, etc. It became difficult to keep track of who was with whom and who was separated or cheating on their significant partner.
I am becoming disheartened by Jane continually being cheated on, and, or deserted due to murder. I was also made a little downcast as she seemingly accumulates animal friends, only to give them up. At least she always keeps Theodore. Hopefully that won't change.
I loved this book. Theo is definitely a good character. When Jane goes to Gozo for a romantic week with boyfriend Timo. She realizes he isn’t who he claims to be. When Timo’s friend is murdered Jane adopts her cat who Theodore adores. I was shocked to find out who the killer was! The ending was a total shock to me. I loved this mystery/drama. It definitely made we want to visit Gozo! The writer flawlessly integrates between Jane and Theodore as being narrators and their point of view on what’s happening on. This was a fun quick read. I highly recommend this book ,series and author!
Theodore (Purr-Fect Secrets book 3 in Theodore:The Neighbor's Cat by J S Ellis. I believe that each of the books in the series just gets better. There so many surprises and twist. Jane and Theodore are great main characters. Timon and his dog, Monster, are central to the story. I thought that this murder in some ways changes both Jane and Theodore. The ending was a surprise and perfect! I received an arc for free and am leaving my review voluntarily.
Jane and Timon are on a vacation from hell, it wasn't planned that way but unforeseen circumstances caused the problem. Things go from bad to worse when a dead body is found in the hotel room. Can Theodore and Jane find the murderer and why? What does Timon have to do with the dead person? I was surprised by the way things proceeded in this story. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This is the third book in this series and I'm sad. I have truly enjoyed all the books about Theo, the Tuxedo cat, Jane, his owner, and the premise behind all the stories. They're seen through the eyes of the cat Theo. It leads to numerous mysterious happenings on the island of Malta. I think the author's books and stories are brilliant. Treat yourself on the theory about how the cat species thinks and try J.S. Ellis' series.
I loved this story. I loved Theodore. He was fun and a wonderful narrator. I think that the author knows cat mentality and it shows. I also liked Monster. Another interesting character. Jane was an interesting character, who was forced to help solve a murder on her vacation. It is not my type of vacation but it makes for a great storyline. I received a complimentary copy of this story and I freely left this review.
Theodore is unhappy with his human, Jane, because she has him in his pet carrier and they are going far from home. At least Theodore has Monster, Timon's Doberman, for company. While at the resort Jane booked, someone is murdered, which begins a period of suspicion and outrage. This story is an excellent mystery with elements of humor and romance, concluding on a relatively positive note. Very highly recommended.
Another fun mystery with Theodore, the cat mixing it up with humans, dogs, and another cat. Jane, his owner knows all the people involved, but can't get the correct answer from Theo.
Jane finds herself involved in multiple murder cases, but Theo can't help her out.
Good twists and turns to keep you guessing.
The book is entertaining and a quick read. It's an enjoyable book.

Book 3 in the Neighbour’s Cat series featuring Theodore the cat. Theodore, along with his owner Jane, her boyfriend Timon and his dog Monster, travel to Gozo together. What is supposed to be a relaxing vacation is anything but. A young woman is found dead in her hotel room by Theodore as he is exploring. I love this series. Thank you to author, J. S. Ellis, for this preview copy.
I absolutely loved this story. It was an amusing, interesting and fascinating murder mystery. I enjoyed the point of view of the cat and that of his owner. I'm only sorry that I haven't read the previous book but will try to rectify that.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Theodore Purr-fect Secrets is a beautiful tuxedo cat who can’t help being curious. This is the second Theodore adventure that I’ve read. I enjoyed both books.
Theodore loves to roam around his surroundings as he meets other pets and using his nose to smell human beings homes. He believes he is able to smell danger. This mystery is captivating and filled with intrigue and suspense.
Book 3 and it gets better and better! I love Theodore (and I am sure everyone does!) but I also love the way Jane connects with him and gives him the space and time to let her know what he is trying to tell her. Exciting and fun read, but with bits that made my heart hurt! I also enjoy the fact that each chapter is dedicated to a different character's POV. More please!
A book that combines humour and the dark side of human beings. Theodore is a cat who's owner, Jane, adores him. I enjoyed having the two of them narrating the story from their own perspectives. I enjoyed Theodore's prowling around the hotel, as well as Jane's trust in him. Great characters, especially the two cats.
This is amazing! A really brilliant third part to this well created series! I do love Theo!! What a brilliant cat! A fast paced psychological thriller, with high tension & energy! A truly mixed up main character made this into a really brilliant story! It had me completely absorbed from start to finish, I can't recommend enough!
