The authors have a rich cultural background. Born in Hawaii to Japanese immigrants, the Protagonist has a unique perspective on the Japanese-American experience¹. His parents' journey, which he chronicles in "Tomo & Haru: A Japanese|American Love Story," reflects the challenges and triumphs of navigating life between two cultures¹.

Steve met his wife, Haru, in Honolulu in 1939. Their love story was marked by significant historical events, including the attack on Pearl Harbor and the subsequent internment of Japanese-Americans¹. Despite these challenges, they managed to avoid internment but faced daily discrimination and hardship¹. Steve's personal struggles, including a diagnosis of narcissistic personality disorder, also shaped their life together¹.

The memoir is a tribute to their nearly 69 years of marriage and the resilience they showed throughout their lives¹. Steve's writing captures the essence of cross-cultural love and the impact of historical events on personal lives¹.

Is there anything specific you'd like to know more about?
