Braysen U #3

The Fouls We Make

Rate this book
A close proximity, friends-to-lovers sports romance by Brooke O'Brien about a woman who has sworn off dating football players and an all-star running back determined to win her heart and break her rules.

I've sworn off dating football players. After my last relationship ended disastrously, I've given up on love entirely.

Determined to start over fresh, somewhere far from Rixton, Tennessee, I impulsively transfer to Braysen University. The Carver twins were like brothers to me growing up. So, when they offer me a place to live until a dorm room frees up, I accept.

Reed Hendrix is as irresistible as he is off-limits. Sleeping in the room next to him could complicate things. Not only because my brother warned Reed to stay away from me but also because falling for him would break my own rule.

Yet it's unnerving how quickly I find myself giving in to my feelings for him. Before I know it, we're stealing glances and sneaking around, dangerously toeing the line between flirting and fooling around.

The more I unravel at the hands of Reed, the harder it is to resist falling for him. When my past catches up with me, it's more than my heart on the line.

They say some rules are meant to be broken.

When secrets are revealed, I can only hope my heart isn’t left broken too.

"Some rules are meant to be broken."

After her last relationship ended in the worst of ways, Tatum Pierce has sworn off dating.
Especially football players.
She's given up on love entirely.
Moving from her hometown to Braysen University.
The place with the people she can trust the most.
Fresh start.
Leaving the past behind.
No complications.
That is until she sees one of her new roommates.
Reed Hendrix.
Irresistible. Flirty. And completely off-limits.
Her brother warned Reed to stay away from Tatum.
But feelings don't have rules.
And some rules were meant to be broken.

"Something about her draws me in, making me want to peel back every layer to understand her deeper."

I received an advanced reader's copy in exchange for an honest review💙💙

"Goddamn, sweetheart, you're trying to kill me, aren’t you?"

I have been SALIVATING for Reed's story ever since that little excerpt we got before and OMG IT WAS SO FCKING WORTH IT!!
I don't know how to say it without sounding completely obsessed but I would definitely let Reed run me over with his truck and then have me fill up gas - just saying…
And Tatum!! I absolutely loved her banter and her little quips - so much fun to read her and Reed - and with that backstory we got to see all kinds of sides of Reed come out and @authorbrookeobrien I cannot thank you enough 😇😇

"I'm starting to realize it's a lot harder to resist Reed Hendrix than I thought it would be."

Tatum Pierce wants a new start. A fresh start. Even when that means leaving her home town to the people who she grew up with. She will be safe with them. But the one rule that she has now - no dating and especially no dating football players. I absolutely adored Tatum and her quips - her banter with Reed was so much fun to read!! Literally - their chemistry jumped off the page and I loved that 💙

"The only time I feel like I can shut the world out is when I'm with Reed."

Reed Hendrix. Football player. Computer Major. And obsessed with his new roommate. His new roommate who is definitely off-limits. After being warned by literally everyone not to get involved with Tatum Pierce he realizes that some rules are definitely meant to be broken. As I said before I was OBSESSED with Reed since that small excerpt we got at the end of the last book and justice was definitely served because excuse ma'am??
Obsessive? Check
Gamer Boy? Check
Football Player? Check
Touch her and die in a contemporary romance way? ABSOLUTELY IN LOVE!!
And this man can dirty talk like it's nobody's business and I DROPPED.

"I'm a fuckin' goner for her. I have been from the second I laid eyes on her."

This playlist is LONG but it is giving football romance aesthetic 💫💫💫

“What is it about her that pulls me in and makes me want to peel back every layer, understand her deeper.”

“I don’t know who I’ve become or what’s gotten into me, but it’s like he’s melting my mind and has me under some form of hypnosis.”

This book is such an amazing addition to the Braysen U series. Brooke has created such an incredible FOOTBALL universe within the series and I have loved every single book!! And this one is just as amazing!

Reid Hendrix & Tatum Pierce take us on a journey that’s one you will not forget anytime soon. They are both beautifully written, deep characters, with such a strong connection that evoke all of the feelings and emotions you crave in a romance read. And then sprinkle in some delicious, sweet and spicy moments- leaving you with a sizzling story! But it’s so much more too! The storyline and the growth of the characters is intriguing and done so well. Brooke really hit the nail on the head with Reid & Tatum’s story!

I don’t want to give away too many story details- but I have to suggest this book 100%!!! 5/5⭐️

Also thank you going out to @ Brooke O’Brien for trusting me to be on your beta team - it’s an honor babe! You have done a fantastic job, yet again!!! I LOVE this series!!!! #inmyfootballera

5 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I just love this series so much! Another great one, Brooke!

This whole world is just one of my favs. I love all the character cameos, the intense tension and angst between the main characters, and really .. nothing is better than a brother’s best friend.

The MMC in this one is so swoony, doesn't take no for answer, and fights for what he believes in.

You get:
• Contemporary Romance
• Spicy
• Football Player
• Forced Proximity
• Roommates
• Brother’s Best Friend
• Toxic Ex

I can't wait for the next one to come out! Available on KU, ebook, paperback, and audiobook.

Brooke O'Brien has created books that have become such comfort reads for me. So every time I pick up on of her books I know I am going to love it. The Fouls We Make is no different! I absolutely loved this one!

The Fouls We Make is the 3rd book in an interconnected series but you do not need to read the previous books to understand what is going on, but if you read The Plays We Fake than you were briefly introduced the Tatum. And The Fouls We Make pick up where The Plays We Fake end. Reed is aa football player for Braysen U and Tatum is originally from Rixton. But Tatum found herself part of a scandal with an ex boyfriend which lead her to leave her life behind in Rixton to start over in Braysen. Tatum only has one new rule as she starts over in Braysen: not to date a football player. But Tatum is Reed's new roommate and they can not deny their attraction to one another. Which leads them into a friends with benefits situation. But Tatum's past comes back to haunts her and Reed is there to protect her.

I loved Reed and Tatum. Reed has been kind of a mystery throughout this series but has always been the one to help each of the boys out of a sticky situation and I loved to get to know him more. Reed has wanted Tatum from the moment he set eyes on her. And when the became roommates, he made it well known how he felt about her and that he wasn't going to let the threat of her brother or his roommates be the reason why he doesn't pursue her. He made it his mission have her trust him as a friend and let her know he was there for her. He is such a fierce protector.

I also loved catching up with all of the other couples as well. I love this little found family. This book also has me intrigued for Wyatt and Zane's story! So if you are looking for a quick college football romance then I highly suggest that you add the Braysen U series to your TBR!

You should most definitely read this book if you like:
- College Football Romance
- Roommates to Lovers
- Friends w/ Benefits
- He Falls First and HARD
- Secret Off-Limits Relationship

* Thank you to Brooke O'Brien for allowing me to read The Fouls We Make as an ARC in exchange for my honest thoughts, opinions and review!

This is the third book in the Braysen U series, but it can easily be enjoyed as a standalone. I loved the ARC of this book, but the audiobook made me fall for it even more. From the moment Tatum transfers to Braysen, she and Reed share undeniable chemistry. Though they try to stay just friends, their attraction is too strong, making their secret encounters both electrifying and inevitable. When the past Tatum was running from finally catches up with her, Reed never wavers, his loyalty and protective nature shining through.

Lee Samuels and Stefanie Kay were the perfect narrators, Samuels capturing Reed’s sweet yet strong presence, while Kay beautifully conveys Tatum’s vulnerability. If you love a spicy college romance, this one is a must listen!

Thank you, Brooke O’Brien for the ALC.

What to Expect:
- College Football Romance

- Roommates to Lovers
- Friends with Benefits
- Close Proximity/Roommates
- Who Hurt You
- Secret Relationship
- Forbidden Romance
- He Falls First

The Fouls We Make is book three in the Braysen U series. We finally got Reed's book, and I loved every second of it. After ending a terrible relationship, Tatum transfers to Brayson U and ends up living with the guys. She wants nothing to do with football players, so living in the same house as Reed won't be a problem, right? Wrong. Tatum has been on Reed's mind since they met, so now that she is living in the room next to his, Reed can't stay away. I loved learning about Reed's backstory and his secret job. Reed has a special set of skills that he was willing to use to help protect Tatum. Reed and Tatum were perfect for each other. They have amazing chemistry, and I loved their banter. Reed had to work hard to get through the wall around Tatum's heart, but he was up for the challenge. I thoroughly enjoyed their forbidden, steamy relationship. I love how Brooke gives us the best romance tropes with an added element of suspense. I'm excited for what comes next in this series.

Narration:
Stefanie Kay and Lee Samuels perform this audiobook in dual-style narration. They are the perfect voices for Tatum and Reed, and do a wonderful job bringing the story to life. I read this book when it was released, and listening to this audiobook made me fall in love with the characters even more. Stephanie and Lee beautifully convey the emotional, heartfelt, and steamy moments. Their performances made this a fun and engaging listening experience.

Thanks to Brooke O'Brien for the early review opportunity. Opinions expressed are my own.

— Audiobook review —

What a delight this was!
From the moment I started listening, I was invested.

Lee Samuals & Stefanie Kay do a fantastic job portraying, Reed & Tatum in this Football/college romance, and really give the characters life.

The plot was enjoyable, and nicely done. I loved Tate & Reed’s characters, & their chemistry was smokin’ & together, they were absolutely perfect!

This was my first taste of anything by Brooke O’Brien, and certainly will not be my last!

The Fouls we make, was a great way to fill in the evening and has left me smiling with the happily ever after— the book does have a bit of angst and your heart breaks a bit for Tatum as she navigates through a crappy situation, one that could so easily happen to anyone— which is scary to think about.
Reed is honestly… well, sweet as a sugar cube (unless you cross him or those he cares for).

This story is so relatable to everyday life with its quirky family connections and tackling real issues and scenarios— I loved the relationship with grandma and the reality brought about in relation to the struggles there.

I guess, I really liked that the things that happened throughout the journey with this one are so believable, and due to this the happily ever after aspect just hit better for me.

Overall this was fantastic and I will be visiting this author, & series again!

I loved this book! This series has been great to read or listen to. Brooke has me hooked with these characters and the storyline...

In this Friends to Lovers, Close Proximity/Roommates, Sports romance in a small college town.
You get Tatum and Reed's story with this one. But it is one you could see coming.. I am here for it!
Tatum is trying to leave behind her previous college and the things that happened there. She gets to stay at a friends house in and she finds herself roommates with a guy she didn't think she would see again. The attraction is undeniable, and so is Reed!
Reed is a force all on his own. He has so many layers and a big heart. This man is always there for his friends and family. I really loved him.

When listening to this audio, I really enjoyed it. Lee Samuels and Stefanie Kay are both great with this story. I was listening from the first word until the last. Both of these narrators had the perfect blend of emotions for this story.
Lee is one that I have always enjoyed. I know that I will have a great voice to listen to when he is narrating. Stefanie is such a great narrator. She captures the best tones for the moments that need to be more emotional. And she does so good bringing Tatum's character to the ears of a listener.

I love this series and can't wait for more!

I absolutely loved this book. From the beginning I was obsessed with Reed and Tatum. They had such a genuine connection it was so easy to root for them. I loved that they became friends first. They always had that attraction between them but them becoming friends just solidified their bond and made their chemistry even more intense.

I always find a funny when the characters decide that they gonna hook up and still be “friends” and not develop feelings when every single person around them knows how much they like each other. These two worked at their own pace which made their relationship flow perfectly.

There was some drama also going on which made me fall for reed even more. He didn’t hesitate to do everything in his power to make sure Tatum was safe. Him being so protective of her, while treating her like she’s his entire universe made me like him a thousand times more.

Their relationship was sweet and very hot. They got along amazingly and always supported each other. I also loved seeing the characters from the previous books with their partners. Seeing their friend group is still as strong as ever made me super happy. There’s also a couple of people that we got some crumbs on that I would love to know more about and very interested in their love story!!!💙💙👀

Sports Romance
Roommates to lovers
College

Dual Narration - Lee Samuels & Stefanie Kay
Perfect voices for these characters!

Reed Hendrix is college football player and the girl he met months ago who never contacted him is now his new roommate. He is an amazing book boyfriend!

Tatum is looking for a fresh start at a new school and to make new friends. She is now roommates with a group of guys. They will look out for her per her brothers request. But little did she know that her roommate across the hall is a hot football player who will tempt her to break her number one rule.

Really enjoyable story. Crazy toxic ex boyfriend, over protective brother, hot football player who is also kind of a nerd. Strong friendships. Found family.

This book was OK. I felt like it was a feel good girl meets boy in college story. Tate and Reed had chemistry and it was kind of insta love. I felt like the trauma or drama of Tate's past wasn't really significant and didn't really add to the story or make it any more interesting. This was just okay for me.

I was enjoying it until the end

I was really enjoying the book up until the end. Some of the choices the characters made just seemed a bit nonsensical given the circumstances. The build up was great but as soon as we reached the climax the excitement started to slip. For a girl who moved away to live a private life, so much of this relationship was public. Considering his status it just felt a bit odd they weren’t mindful. Also her being terrified in her own home one day then running solo where there were no people around?? I couldn’t make sense of it.

I really wanted to like this book and had been eagerly awaiting its release, but unfortunately, it just didn't captivate me. I couldn't connect with any of the characters, and the repetitive "don't touch her" trope got old fast. She seemed perfectly fine with being with Reed, yet everyone kept threatening him. She's in college, not elementary school—she can make her own choices about who she wants to be with. Were they seriously going to beat him up if she kissed him? I ended up putting the book down a while ago, and although I thought I might come back to it, I just don't care enough about any of the characters to finish it.

The Preface:
Opens at the Rixton College hockey game. Reed Hendrix, Hayes Carver, Braysen Carver, and Owen. He is the cousin of both Tatum and Talon Pierce. It was the night of Talon’s hockey game and he sent her a text. Talon: Carvers are in town for the game. Got them tickets for tonight. Section R, first row. Normally she would never be caught dead at any school function, however, it’s the lesser of two evils. Because Kara asked her if she wanted to go to Rowdy’s? She heard they were having a party if the wolves won.

Her stomach churns, and another wave of unease ripples through her. She’s plotted and agonized over how to avoid that crowd, which means skipping out on parties as much as possible. That was what it was like having Beckham and Hayes Carver around growing up. Four, if she counted his cousin Owen, too. It looks like we have some friends visiting from out of town,” she adds, thankful for the excuse. Before going to their seats they decide to grade drinks and food. While in line Tate turns back looking around, and sees her ex-Wells Perry with the side piece she had caught him with, and the reason for their breakup.

She turns around so quickly that she stumbles and the guy behind her catches her elbow to steady her. She is so apologetic, and all he says is, No problem. When Kara says she needs to use the restroom. When Tatum looks over her shoulder and sees that Wells has noticed that Reed held her elbow she must stiffen. Because Reed asked, “Who’s that?” “Huh?” Tate lifts her chin to peer up at Reed. He subtly tilts his head to the side, flicking his gaze toward Wells. “The guy who’s caught your attention. What’s his name?”

“It doesn’t matter…” “I disagree. Every time you give in and look his way, your body stiffens.” I scowl. “No, I don’t. Besides, how would you know? We don’t even know each other.” “Well, don’t look at him,” I fire off through gritted teeth. He chuckles. “You want to tell me why not?” “It’s just—” She presses her lips together. “He, well, I don’t want him to know we’re talking about him, for one.” “All right, fine. Can you at least clue me in on who the guy is we’re not talking about?” “He’s my ex. His name is Wells. Wells Perry,” “Wait, Wells Perry?

As in the defensive end for the Rixton football team?” She groans. “That’s the one.” “I take it the two of you didn’t split on good terms, then?” “What would make you say that?” “Judgin’ by the look on his face. Sweetie, if looks could kill, I’d be a goner.” “No, it wasn’t on good terms.” She scoffs. “Honestly, I wish he’d leave me the hell alone. Clearly, he’s moved on, so why won’t he let me do the same?” Neither of them says a word until it’s her turn in line, and she orders a slice of pizza. It’ll be enough to tide her over for a bit. “Make it two,” the stranger calls from behind her, tossing two twenties on the counter.

“I’ll take a beer while you’re at it, too, please.” “What are you doing?” “Hold this for me, will ya?” he adds, setting his slice of pizza on top of hers. He swipes his beer and lifts it to the guy behind the counter, thanking him. “C’mon.” He tilts his head toward hers and wraps his arm around her neck. “What the hell are you doing?” “Will you stop asking so many damn questions? I’m helping you. What does it look like?” “Helping me?” “I’m starting to question your decisions.” “Oh yeah? Because I’m going along with this?”

“I’m trying to figure out what you saw in this guy, is all. I can’t put my finger on why, but I don’t trust him.” “Maybe he needs to see you moving on to get the hint.” “Moving on? With whom, you?” When I tilt my head to gaze at him, he doesn’t bother to look my way. “It’s Reed, by the way.” He corrects me, finally revealing his name. “Try to relax, will ya? I’d never do anything to hurt you. Besides, I think it’s working.” “What’s up, man?” Reed asks, flicking his hand toward Wells. “Do you two know each other?” I ask, wondering the same thing.

“Kinda. Although he may not recognize me.” “No, it’s all good. You can go, but thanks again.” “How about this?” He motions toward my phone. “I’ll give you my number, and if you need rescuing again, let me know.” This is not even the meat and potatoes of the whole story/romance. This also has a suspense and mystery in it, however, there is one glaring fact, Talon lies to her about Wren, and then she’s given a cryptic message by Wells. But we get no answer. Please tell me Talon gets his own book and we get the answer, please. 🤞

Absolutely loved this book about Reed and Tatum aka Tate amazing romantic story with a bit of suspense and drama.
This is book 3 in this series and it’s one you will soon swoon and fall in love either way!

Ok let’s get into this one !

You’ll know when you find your Sunny.

Reed Hendrix
The moment he saw Tate he felt something deep but couldn’t quite put his finger on it..
but pretty soon she was moving into his home with him and his other roommates, becoming his roommate who made it clear she don’t date Athletes anymore especially Football players .
She was gonna raise Cats and have a bunch of garden ornaments instead.
She was done .. over men. Finished.
but unfortunately for her Reed had other plans,
Ones that don’t involve cats (well not of that nature 😉).. it’s as if she has issued a challenge instead and Reed has already accepted it!

Tatum
Trying to escape the past and a bad relationship and situation she thought that by sticking to no dating would help.
But ever since meeting the handsome stranger who pretended to be her boyfriend and saved her from an emotional situation she couldn’t get him out of her head .. and now she is moving in with him as one of her roommates right next to his room .. she is left wondering just how in the world is she gonna keep her kitty under control and not cave in to this gorgeous Guy proposal.. yeah Cat lady with Garden ornaments are looking pretty distant right now!

Listen let me tell you .. this friendship (air quote) thing Tatum thought she could possibly have with Reed was so not going the way she thought ..Reed was anything but. And lord knows before they know it Reed was on her like white on rice! Yup friend-Ship where?!!
That Ship has long since sailed!
The thing I loved about this book was how quickly they fell apart for each other and how pretty protective and in control Reed is.. and how all the characters are like a family unit a brother/SisterHood with the guys being ultra protective and aggressive when it comes to these girls and each other, and always giving each other the hard truths even if they don’t want to hear it..
love these guys and gals.

Kudos Natasha Madison Kudos for writing

The Fouls We Make is the third installment in Brooke O’Brien’s Braysen U series. It’s the perfect book if you enjoy reading football romances where the dirty-talking college football player falls hard for his new roommate. The issue is his new roommate, Tatum, has sworn off dating, especially football players, after what happened in her previous relationship with one. Reed is determined to win her over, even if it means being her friend at first, but he’s hoping for more. He just has to give her time, and hopefully, she’ll be willing to break her rule of not being with a football player.

I loved Reed’s and Tatum’s book, especially when they both tried to be friends at first, but eventually, they gave in to that instant attraction to one another. Tatum definitely needed Reed to show her how she was supposed to be treated because her ex was a horrible person. Reed is not only the hot jock, but he’s a dirty-talking one, too, so get ready to swoon. There was no way Tatum was going to be able to resist him for too long, especially when he pushed her to do things she never did with her ex. This book definitely was steamier than the first two, but I could be biased because I loved Reed and Tatum’s chemistry with one another. I loved how Tatum pushed Reed, too, when they were together.

Reed’s protectiveness of Tatum made him even more lovable. Tatum knew she could trust him to protect her after she told him what happened at Rixton U. He wasn’t going to let her ex or anyone hurt her again. He’s not someone to mess with, especially when he has specific skills. Don’t mess with someone who is a computer genius. =)

The Fouls We Make was a fast-paced, sweet, and spicy read that was hard to put down, especially after Reed and Tatum went from friends to friends with benefits, then to lovers. Rules were definitely meant to be broken with these two characters.

I give this book four stars, and now more than ever, I’m looking forward to the next book in the series, knowing who’s coming next.

Standalone or Part of Series: It’s an Interconnected Standalone in the Braysen U Series.

Would I recommend this book? Yes. If you are a fan of Football Romances, then this book is a must-read for the football season or even the off-season.

Book Quote: “Anytime you want, Tate. Anytime you’re lying in bed, and you think about touching this sweet pussy, I want you to sneak into my room and climb on top of me. Let met take care of you.”

What to Expect:
🏈Sports/Football Romance
🏈Friends with Benefits/Friends to Lovers
🏈Close Proximity/Roommates to Lovers
🏈Small College Town
🏈He Falls First
🏈Dirty Talker MMC

THE FOULS WE MAKE is the third instalment in Brooke O’Brien’s contemporary, new adult BRAYSEN U erotic, football romance series. This is college football player Reed Hendrix, and fellow student Tatum Pierce’s story line. THE FOULS WE MAKE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story lie premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Tatum and Reed) THE FOULS WE MAKE follows in the wake of Tatum Pierce’s arrival at Braysen University. Tatum Pierce has secrets, secrets that keep her up at night, threatening to break her hard fought need to remain under the radar. Meeting Braysen U football player Reed Hendrix threatens all hopes of not breaking her no-relationship policy until she discovers Reed will be one of her new roommates at Braysen U but all is not well in Tatum’s life; the past has followed and found our story line heroine, and the threats have become dangerous and real. With the help of Reed Hendrix, Tatum is hoping to move forward without always having to look back.

The world building follows two intersecting paths: the building romance and relationship between our story line couple, and the past that continues to threaten our story line heroine. Always trying to keep a low profile, the past has tracked Tatum Pierce, and her nightmare is about to begin anew.

The relationship between Tatum and Reed is a close proximity, friends to lovers, immediate and strong sexual attraction. Needing a place to live, Tatum finds refuse with her brother’s best friends at Braysen U, friends that are all members of the university football team. Under the protection of our story line hero, Tatum finds herself beginning to relax until the past discovers the who, where and why. Falling for Reed is easy, but protecting her heart is more difficult and dangerous. The $ex scenes are intimate and provocative without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

The secondary and supporting characters include Colter and Ava (The Games We Win 1) Beckham and Hallyn (The Rivals We Hate 1), Hayes and Everly (The Plays We Fake 2), as well as the introduction of Tatum’s brother Talon Pierce and his friend Wren, Colter’s sister Wyatt, Zane and Knox. The author has plans for a ‘hockey’ romance series featuring Tatum’s brother Talon.

THE FOULS WE MAKE is another story of betrayal and obsession, secrets and lies, power and control, family and friendships, relationships and love. The premise is captivating, haunting and intriguing; the romance is spicy and spirited; the characters are determined, clever and realistic.

Fantastic Story & Narration🎧 Engaging & Heartwarming!

The Fouls We Make
Braysen U
By: Brooke O’Brien
Narrated by: Stefanie Kay, Lee Samuels

“The Fouls We Make” is a fantastic sports romance novel, a college romance that captivates your attention and tugs at your heartstrings the entire time with characters that are likable and easy to relate with. Tatum transfers to Braysen University to get away from her cheating ex-boyfriend and the drama he caused her in Rixton. Knowing some people attending Braysen helped, especially when the Carver twins offered her a room to stay in until something opens up for her in the dorms. Reed Hendrix is on Braysen U’s football team, he met Tatum aka Tate, once before and felt an instant connection with her, but he was not expecting her to transfer to his school or take a spare room in the house he shares with teammates. The two hit it off once again and there was an undeniable chemistry between them, but after what her ex put her through, Tate was done with dating, especially football players. Reed does not give up on her, and first they become friends and then friends with benefits. It was great to watch their relationship grow into something so much more. Reed knew she was holding back things from him, but he was waiting for when she was ready to share that with him. Reed has his own secrets, ones that come in handy when her past comes back to haunt her. I loved how everything played out in this book, a wonderfully plotted story with the perfect balance of drama, angst, charming and heartwarming moments, heartfelt emotions, and steamy romance. Brooke O’Brien, thanks for the wonderful story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 Stefanie Kay and Lee Samuels are fabulous voicing the characters and delivered a perfect portrayal of each. I loved how they took their roles and made them their own, sounding believable and just as I imagined the characters to sound. Samuels was a natural in Reeds’ role, protective and swoon worthy and Kay was just as amazing as Tatum, showcasing every aspect of her personality, her wit, strength and determination. They set the right tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling them all. These two made a great team, with voices and talent that complemented each other and a performance that takes the story to another level.

I was so honoured to be chosen to Beta Read for Brooke, and this, her new book in the Brayson U series. I have not read football romance, nor anything from Brooke before (although is on my TBR) so am grateful that Brooke took a chance on me. And, thank you to Thorunn for thinking of me.

Now, what you want to know is, what did I think? Let's just get this out now, REED IS MINE!! OMFG he sits now in my stable of very select delicious book boyfriends because he is just absolutely everything. Reed and Tatum had met at her previous university, but after the end of her disastrous relationship (arsehole boyfriend, and truly he is ugly to the core), she impulsively takes up friends offer to move to Brayson U, and live with them until a dorm room is available. Well, Reed is also living there, but, Tatum has given up football players (and all men) and Reed has been warned by Tatum's brother to stay away.

Reed was intrigued from their first encounter months ago, and also wants to know why the sudden move to Brayson U, and why her walls are so bloody high. And, I am not wanting to give any spoilers away but to say this. There is some truely funny moments, that had me laughing out loud as I read this, and spice that had me looking for cold air (and it was winter when I read this here in NZ) and generally feeling all hot and flushed. Reed has some skills that OMFG. But, if you are recovering from a shit relationship and you need that man to show you, that they are not all arseholes, Reed is that guy. As someone who has not read any of the first two books, the book is so easily read and understood, and I easily could make sense of the other characters and how they fit into the storyline, and obviously that is important when books are touted as standalone. I now want and need all the books, as I want to know those other characters stories. I am officially football romance obsessed, and once again so honoured to be a Beta for Brooke going forward (I hope). Thank you Thank you THANK YOU. And, this definitely deserves more stars, I loved this. Oh, did I say Reed was mine......lol

Since I've read my first Brooke O'Brien story I knew that I'm in for a great adventure. And at this point I'll read whatever she writes. But her sports romance are spot on and I so love her Braysen U series. I'm this close to start watching American football. Yeah, here in Europe soccer is king and then there's American football. Anyway I loved The Fouls We Make and read it for a day . And Tatum and Reed were so good and perfect together. They have this strange connection from their first meeting. Reed sensed that she needed help and he was there for her , no questions asked. And then she's his new roommate and they live together. Reed knows that something is off with her sudden move in and her reserved attitude. But the attraction is still there . And he's ready to be her friend as long he can be around her, even though she's swore off men , football players in general and plans to live with cats and garden gnomes. And Reed is definitely determined to change her opinion. Reed is the sweetest swooniest book boyfriend ever . He's thoughtful, attentive, a little bit possessive and that dirty mouth is just an added bonus. And he's totally in tune with Tatum's needs. Tatum is sweet and caring , smart and full of love. But she gave it to the wrong person. Reed brings her comfort and piece. Soon their situationship is turning to something so much more. For Reed it's more from the start, he just gave time Tatum to catch up and to change her mind about him. The way Reed handled the situation with Tatum's ex and dealt with him only shows him as the better person. He was substitute for karma and did her work . They both got their happily ever after and worked for their dreams. The epilogue and the bonus epilogue were perfect and I loved them. And I'm more than happy with the glimpses of the other couples. Now I'm so ready for Brooke O'Brien to enter her hockey romance era and I can't wait to see what she's up to.

Side note: that playlist is so good ; and it has a few of my favorite songs . Hint- Kane Brown and Tate McRae. And Taylor Swift is always a winner.

Thanks to the author for the opportunity to read and review an early copy of this book.

Book Review: The Fouls We Make by: Brooke OBrien

I absolutely love this series and I definitely want to go back and listen to the audiobook! This story was so good! Tatum has decided to quit dating especially any football 🏈 players she’s just plain done. She starts at Braysen to get a fresh start but that all goes out the window when her roommate gets there Reed Hendrix. Who is the total temptation package and definitely off limits! Just ask her brother… but in this case all rules are broken.

This book had been stuck in my mind from the ending of the last book when we got the most delicious peek!
I really loved Tatum she’s so fisty I
Am obsessed with the banter in this story and the comebacks! I am hooked, line, and sinker for Reed though he is definitely 💯 my new book boyfriend! The backstory of Reed whoa! The two of them together was the chefs kiss their chemistry was at critical level and I’m here for it!

And again Reed is the total package. He is a football player, a gamer boy, hopelessly gone for the girl, dirty talker, and if you touch her you 💀vibes. I mean I’m a puddle on the floor aren’t you?
I mean look at the quotes from these two??? How can you not melt?

"I'm a $&@!in' goner for her. I have been from the second I laid eyes on her."

"Something about her draws me in, making me want to peel back every layer to understand her deeper."

"The only time I feel like I can shut the world out is when I'm with Reed."

"I'm going to tease you relentlessly until you're squirming beneath me, begging me to put you out of your misery."

"I'm starting to realize it's a lot harder to resist Reed Hendrix than I thought it would be."

That’s why this is my pick for Swoony Sunday!!!

The Fouls We make ( Braysen U ) Tropes 🔥Close Proximity 🔥Roommates to lovers 🔥 friends to lovers 🔥friends with benefits 🔥Roommates/ college/ football romance Have you ever picked up a book or a series that just hooked you in a way you never saw coming and definitely does not happen very often That you found yourself not only falling completely in love with through each and every installment but had the ability to make you feel so many different emotions that took you by surprise, for example speechless one second and screaming outta frustration the next , then bam your smiling and laughing then bam outta nowhere your sobbing like a baby all while rooting so freaking hard ? Kinda like being on the craziest ride at the amusement park !!! you know that feeling you get in your stomach from being excited and nervous at the same time - the anticipation of whats to come next ? Well Brooke’s Brayden U Series has done it all in spades . To be completely honest ever single time I come to the end of a book ( I actually have the same thought ( perfection absolute perfection and nothing could possibly beat this !!! And each time I’m proven wrong !!!! But then again I’m not that surprised because Brooke Truly is the queen of SportsRomances with all the feels . But something about Tatum and Reed made them my absolute favorite couple yet , I cannot exactly put into words what or why maybe it was the inane chemistry between them , maybe it was the back and forth and witty banter or maybe it was the forbidden aspect , like I said I’m not really sure . I just know I could not stop myself from falling for both , because just when you think you have them figured out you realize there is so much more to both then meets the eye - so many different layers .i mean what’s not to love about a male hero who’s protective , charismatic , charming , flirty and a down right dirty talker - that’s without a doubt Reed and Tatum - she a sweetheart, but non the less feisty , confident, strong and flirty .these two could not be more perfect for one another . 💜💜💜💜

Friends to Lovers

This ALC was a really great audiobook. Brooke O’Brien is a new to me author and I am really glad I took the chance on this ALC. Stephanie Kay and Lee Samuels do an amazing job bringing this story to life.

This book opens with a chance meeting of our MMC Reed and FMC Tatum at a football game in the FMC’s home town of Rixton, TN. Tatum finds Reed very attractive but little does she know that their paths will cross again.

This book is about the romance between college football player Reed and his new roommate Tatum. Tatum moves into the house that the Carver twins are letting her live at while she is getting settled at Braysen U. The Carver twins are very protective football player friends of her that act more like brothers. Tatum is escaping a horrible situation from her hometown of Rixton with her ex-boyfriend who was also a football player. Because of this horrible ending, Tatum has sworn off football players for good.

While Tatum is moving, she tries to take care of everything for herself but she is without a car to get her into town and she is really needing to get a job and would like to apply at the local bakery. Reed offers to take her into town, show her around campus and swing by the bakery to apply for that job.

As these two start to depend on each other more and more, their journey from friendship to romance intensifies and Reed is determined to win Tatum over. When Tatum’s past issues and violent boyfriend show up at Braysen, Reed allows his protective nature to take over so that Tatum is safe. He also helps her heal from her previous trauma. He takes her some very sweet adventures and they continue to fall for each other. I love the scene where he takes her four wheeling and has a bon fire with her.

This is a great listen/read for anyone that wants a great football romance with a very protective MMC.

Enjoy reading - Peace ☮️ and Love ❤️ my friends!!

THE FOULS WE MAKE By Brooke O'Brien

😊What i liked -

✔ Forced Proximity/Roommates/Small College Town/Friends To Lovers/ Sports/Secret Relationship/He Falls First.
✔ I really need Reed's connections and his computer skills. I am in awe of this guy.
✔ I loved all the side characters in this book. Loved the protectiveness.
✔ I loved the character growth of Tatum.
✔ Their first meet and their instant connection and then their strong connection was all written so well.
✔ Loved it all, the story, the sweet and spiciness, the bonds. It had it all.

🤔What could have been better-

✔ Too small to even mention.

📚Who Should read :
👶Beginners
💝Romance Lover
💕Forced Proximity Romance
🏈Sports Romance

📈My Rating : 4.5/5

🎧🎙️AUDIO REVIEW🎙️🎧

🎙️🎤 Another excellent performance by Lee Samuels & Stephanie Kay! They both played really well off each other and did an excellent job not just with the performances of their characters, but all the secondary ones as well. They also compliment each other really well so that makes the listening experience go a lot smoother. It was an excellent 7 or so hours in y ears! 👏👏

I know there’s a “note” in the blurb of this book that tells you this is an interconnected story that could be read all on its own and enjoyed but you should probably read them all to get the best enjoyment but I’m going further to say that when something is interconnected, well, it’s connected. LOL So, do yourselves a favor and just read this series from the beginning. You will thank me later! #trust

I enjoyed the heck out of Reeve and Tatum’s journey! These two were fire in all the right ways! I know that when a word like fire is used to describe a couple, most people automatically think of their sexual chemistry, but I’m using it here in a different way because they sparked in all the ways from beginning to end and it made listening to their story a snap!

I love that this story isn’t just a fluff piece, or rather a superficial romance journey. There are a few circumstances/plot points throughout the story that add a lot of depth to the characters and the story itself, and they are unfolded and represented well. This story captivated me from the very beginning and intrigued me for almost as long. The romance journey is not the only journey this book follows and the two paths intercept and interconnect well. Brooke O’Brien did an excellent job with all of this without veering the story towards dramatics and eyerolling shenanigans. Feel me?

I’m looking forward to more from this group and whatever else Brooke decides to write in the future!

Audiobook Review:
Narrated by Lee Samuels & Stefanie Kay. I read this book but listening to it felt like it was new again. These two were fantastic with bringing these characters to reality and given them the human touch.
We are back at Braysun U and this was Reed's story.
We have met Reed in the previous books and he is quite and mysterious. So I was so happy to know him more.
He is definitely mysterious, caring, supportive, protective and has a hot mouth. He isn't afraid of what he wants (except relationships) and I love that he is vocal about it all. When Tatum is moving in next room to him, he plans to run is mouth relentless haha.
Tatum is never dating specially football (US Football) players. She has left behind her life and has moved to Braysun U for a fresh start and under the protection of the Carver twins (Her brothers best friends). They are practically like her brothers, so they're just as protective. What she wasn't expecting was to see Reed and now they will be sharing a wall. I liked Tatum, she was sweet, determined and strong. Her past was a mystery, we know about the break up but nothing beyond. I like how Brooke kept us hooked with little bits here and there.
I loved how Reed settled to be her friend. They become good friends. Their relationship was easy, full of witty banter and care. Rules are slowly being broken one by one. Gosh their chemistry and secret interactions were perfect. These two were perfect. The way he takes care of her 🥹.
Can they keep their heart intact? Will they be able to keep it a secret?
What will happen when her past comes and destroys everything?
Loved seeing Everly growing in confidence and all the other characters from previous books.
I also like how Brooke introduces the next couple slowly and now I'm anticipating Wyatt and Zane's story.
I would definitely recommend this as an Audio. Not to be missed.

The Fouls We Make is book 3 in The Braysen U Series by Brooke O’Brien. I read The Plays We Fake, book 2 in the series so I was delighted to dive back into the Braysen U world!

In The Fouls We Make we go on a journey with Reed Hendrix and Tatum Pierce. Tatum is running from something in her past and ends up at Braysen U and thanks to her brother she is now rooming with Reed and his roommates. There is clear chemistry between the two, but Tatum refuses to date football players. Reed respects her boundaries and instead of pushing her, he becomes a great friend for her while she is entering this new chapter of her life. With the forced proximity and the undeniable connection plus Reed’s swoon worthy protectiveness, it’s only a matter of time until these two give into their desires and when they do, sparks fly! Get ready for a spicy, suspenseful and sweet sports romance.

This is my second Brooke O’Brien book and I adore her writing style. I was instantly captivated by Reed and Tatum’s story. The Fouls We Make has the perfect combination of spice, suspense and swooning. I loved that Reed was ready to be exactly what Tatum needed, even if that was just a friend. Their relationship developed so organically from friendship to something more and it was entertaining following along.

I was once again so excited to have Stefanie Kay and Lee Samuels in my ears. Having them back for another Braysen U book made this such a comfort listen for me. They both did a fantastic job capturing the vibe of this unique story. Stefanie portrayed Tatum’s sass so well but she also performed her vulnerability flawlessly. Lee had me one “sweetheart” away from swooning to death. I definitely recommend checking out the audio for this one.
