A very enjoyable read, the entertainment of the chase and ultimately finding the truth is completed with ease. Kate Hold is rapidly becoming one of my favorite writers.
This book started off slow for me: it seemed pointless and undirected. There were several different actions that similarly seemed unconnected, and there still didn't seem to me a real point to it. Eventually, it all tied together and made for a surprising and pointed story. The main FBI agents were great, and the relationship between the two Encouraging to each other and to the reader! It was particularly refreshing that the writer did not insist that just because they were opposite sexes, they had to have a room ending involvement! The ending was surprising but satisfying- well , not totally surprising, although the details definitely were :-)
Can't Run, A Nora Price FBI Suspense Thriller, Book One by author Kate Bold is just that - suspenseful. Also very engrossing.
Nora and her sister were abducted when they were younger. Nora managed to escape, however, Sophia didn't. Now, Nora & her FBI partner are investigating several kidnappings, some of which ended in the victim being killed, but two who were able to escape. The current cases are eerily like Nora & Sophia's kidnapping, which triggers Nora's insecurity of being a failure.
Kate Bold writes very well, has detailed characters and her plotlines flow very smoothly. Can't Run is no exception. The story is well told and pulled together nicely in the end. Unusual for me, I guessed at the killer identity before the book's end, but was still surprised by the reveal of the killer's identity.
Unfortunately, there were two errors in the book; both the same error. In the beginning, Nora's partner called her Char and did so again near the end. I'm guessing for some reason, Ms. Bold decided on changing the main character's name to Nora but missed these two instances.
Overall, this book is a great suspenseful book. I've read several of Kate Bold's books and I know I'll read many more. Ms. Bold grabs the reader's attention and doesn't let go till the very last word in the book.
Although I enjoyed the story, I had issues with the poor editing. There are run on sentences , incomplete sentences and some area that needed to be reread in order to fully understand. Plus this is another book where the title has nothing to do with the story.
Nora, and her partner are called in to unravel the reasoning and capture a serial kidnapper and murderer. There are women and girls being kidnapped without any connection to each other. Some get away and some are killed but placed where they can be found.
This all takes place in a small country town. The area is full of woods with ramshackle deserted cabins and those who would like to hide away from people.
The few who escaped told of a captor who wore a mask and changed his voice.
Nora and her partner have little to go on but finally find something that connects the victims and it’s not as expected.
This is a book I would skip if I had known in advance what it would be like. The audio is terrible. I allow for AI to make odd phonetic mistakes, as well as accept certain words to be massacred or used wrong, and an oddball attempt at slang that can actually be funny. However, when the entire book is full of mistakes where you want to send the AI reader to school and are more focused on the multitude of mistakes being made than any of the story, it is an issue.
WHY doesn't the author listen to it before letting it out? Or, have someone else listen to it and make sure they provide a candid review! It doesn't do them any favors when they hear everything is great, and they put it out on the market, and people hate it.
Great new series starter by Kate Bold. Nora Price, a FBI agent, has a complicated past. As the survivor of an abduction when she was a teenager, she can empathize with the victims that she serves. Nora is still haunted by the fact that her sister, Sophia didn't survive the kidnapping, or at least has never been seen since. When she and her partner, Jason are assigned a kidnapping case that is eerily like her own, Nora is determined that she will save the young woman and bring the guilty party to justice.
I know every FBI agent in books has a missing or dead sister and it is a tad annoying but this time it did not bother me. It seemed relevant to the work the agent was involved in. Well written and I could not put it down. Actually read it in two sessions. Looking forward to the next
I’m not really sure how Nora is even an FBI agent?? With her past trauma causing her current issues it seems psychologically she wouldn’t even be allowed to be an agent. The way she would zone out or have a panic attack….she could be putting herself and/or her partner in very dangerous situations.
FBI agent who is troubled partnered with a good looking man. Trying to solve her issues whi!e working on the case. Runs off by herself without telling her partner. This is a repeat of one Blake Pierce's books. Do you not think we wi!l not recognize the pattern. Did Blake really write this book? Disappointed to say the least. But not the first time.
The race to find out who is kidnapping women in the area is disturbing to an FBI agent who was also kidnapped as a child. She gets weird flashbacks to her kidnapping as she investigates these present cases.
Enjoyed this book very much. The characters are very believable. So are the different situations these women find themselves in. The identity of the killer was surprisingly.
This was a book full of suspense and beautifully written. Characters were believable and the story kept you guessing to the very end. I also liked the extra story after the killer was caught.
Really good psychological thriller based around abductions and the race to find the perpetrator. Nora, an FBI agent was abducted as a child along with her sister. She survived, her sister might not have. Thing is no one knows for certain.
This plot is too thin. And there are too many crime novels these days that repeat the theme of a detective reliving childhood trauma, oftentimes the loss of a sibling. The clues in this one are too thin to make me believe they would lead to identifying the killer. Just not very interesting.
Can't run , A Nora Price suspense thriller by Kate Bold
This book was so hard to stop reading . had a good time reading this book with it's twist and turns then smooth landing. Will try to get the next book " Can run" this will be another bread read.
Kate Bold did a great job on this book. Nora Price is an FBI Special Agent. She was assigned Jason Snyder as her partner. They are good together. She and her sister were abducted and Nora escaped. Jeanette Stracner
The beginning was scary, and a bit creepy and I don't usually get spooked from reading a book. Unfortunately, the weak premise the book is based on ("I can't remember") just ruined the rest of the implausible story line. The book was just ok.
