Kings of Jupiter

Rate this book
In an industry dominated by men, Sophia Rose, an elite tattooist, earned her reputation by owning Rose & Lace Ink Emporium, an all-female staffed studio.

Her golden rule was simple. Never date a client. That no-strings-attached-attitude kept her evenings busy, and her heart stagnant.

That is until the zaniest night of tattooing in her career befell…

When propositioned with an offer that any entrepreneur would be foolish to decline, Sophia finds herself blinded by the stardom and mayhem that the Kings of Jupiter encompass.

With Sophia as their muse, lust, and lyrics blur like the lines of the pavement beneath the tour bus.

For Mazen Wilde, Oliver Collins and Cannon Rhodes, creating music was as easy as taking a breath.

But all great songs do come to an end…

Kings of Jupiter is a duet that WILL end on an enthralling cliffhanger. This is a rock star reverse harem, meaning our heroine has three band boyfriends. Swords will cross…

❓ Why Choose
🎸Rockstars / Tattoo Artist
🎗Badass FMC
⚔ Sword crossing

Kings of Jupiter is the first book in the Ink and Lyrics Duet.

We meet Sophia, a badass tattoo artist, owner of an all female tattoo studio.

On a random night, 3 walk-in clients ask for tattoos from Sophia, and we first meet Olivier. After a scorching encounter and a jellyfish tattoo later (strategically placed on a “expendable” body part) Olivier reveals who he really is to Sophia, a.k.a the lead guitarist of Kings Of Jupiter, a very famous band. He then proceeds to ask Sophia to join them on tour to be their personal tattoo artist….
That's when Sophia meets the rest of the band, first Mazen, lead singer, and they DO not hit it off at all… and lastly Cannon, drummer, the silent broody one who is impossible to read (and we all know what the silent one always hides…. 👀)

“Music is an open forum love letter. A declaration of promises beating simultaneously with a myriad of emotion and sounds. It’s not just what I do; it’s who I am. It’s embedded in the depth of my soul, my own chorus dashing through my veins. In a language that flows through my soul, I become immersed when I write or perform. Without music, I’m nothing.”

I really loved all the characters, the different relationships, the banter, and the tension!!
And that cliffhanger 😶 I need book 2 right now!!

“I can tell you’re not a saint, Rosella. Morals are damned anyway.”

I received a free copy of this book via the Author Agency and am voluntarily leaving a review.

There is not much more to this FMC than her sex drive and the fact that she can tattoo.  Well, that and the fact that her sister is a bit of a psycho.  I just expect more from my heroines.

Smuttastic

Thoughts: 💡
It’s been a hot minute since I read a book filled with this much smut and dirty talk. It starts with a tirade on the trials of a dead vibrator and just never really stops. There is a fun little plot with lots of sassy banter packed around the smut, but the smutty focus never fully leaves in the story. It’s always either on a character's mind, in the dialogue, or full on action. So if you need an interesting story that’s going to help you scratch and itch this is perfect.

This is exactly what I needed! From the start the writing instantly pulls you in and your thrown into the world of Sophia a tattoo artist who has so much sass that I was absolute loving it. Add in a meeting with the rock band king of Jupiter she finds herself taking the job as their full-time tattoo artist.

I’m not usually a fan of insta lust but wow did this book change that, Oliver was so likeable and the banter between him and Sophia was pure gold I love how they first meet and was laughing at some of their interactions. Going from a one night stand to being offered a job she meets the rest of the band and goes along with them on the road where it leads to starting a steamy relationship between herself, Oliver, Conner and Mazen. The banter between the guys and Sophia with her sass was perfection.

I loved the mystery surrounding her and Mazen they both share a past but Sophia seems to have forgotten about it. I can’t wait to see after the little snippets we are given how it evolves and to learn more about it in book two.

This is the first book of Nacole’s I’ve read and I really love her writing style and the characters she creates with their dynamic personalities add in an intriguing story that kept me totally engaged that I couldn’t put down and the way she writes a cliffhanger ending that I wasn’t prepared. I’m really looking forward to seeing what comes next!

What a great story. I loved the banter, the tension, the spice (not all on-page), ...

Sophia, a tattoo artist, meets the rock band King of Jupiter. They immediately hit it off with Oliver and have a one night stand. After this, he offers her a job as their full-time tattoo artist.
When she meets Mazen, things immediately go wrong. Because the two have a past, but Sophia seems to have forgotten that.

The snippets in their past give me some suspicions. And I think my heart is going to break in book 2. Mazen is so broken because Sophia no longer recognizes him and starts a relationship with two of his band members.

What a cliffhanger!!! Nacole, I need book two now. I would also like to learn more about Oliver and Cannon.

I received an ARC from The Author Agency for an honest review... I unfortunately had to DNF at 67%. I really wanted to love this book, especially since it had all of the elements I love. A why choose, rockstar romance, with delicious looking musicians and a spunky no nonsense female tattoo artist. Even with all of the elements I couldn't finish the book. I really hate giving bad reviews, but I think this book needed a lot of editing. There were some awkward sentences, words or phrases that did not aligned with what the author wanted to say. There were also quite a few inconsistencies throughout the book, which threw me off a few times. I honestly think if more editing was done this book would have been awesome. One thing I do want to mention if (if you are venturing into this book) is the lack of real spice in this book. There are maybe two or three scenes from what I read so far and they weren't that descriptive, if it's something you are looking for. Anyways, these are just my opinions, completely up to you if you would like to read it.

Sophia, a talented tattoo artist, has a chance encounter with the band Kings of Jupiter when they visit her shop, an unexpected meeting that leads to her joining them on tour as their full time tattoo artist. I loved seeing her bond with the band evolve, filled with witty banter and plenty of heat. Narrators Kevin T. Collins and Lisa Zimmerman do a phenomenal job of bringing each relationship to life, perfectly capturing the chemistry between Sophia and each band member. If you're in the mood for a sizzling why choose romance with a touch of suspense, this book is a must listen. Be warned, it ends on a cliffhanger, and I can’t wait for the next audiobook!

Thank you, Nacole Stayton and Tantor Audio for the ALC.

Purple prose and no apparent editing

I wanted to like this book based on the plot summary, but the execution was just... not good. The text read like the author had used a cut-rate thesaurus to attempt to sound more articulate. This did not work. So many grammatical errors/attempts to use five-dollar words when a fifty-cent word would do.

The actual execution of the plot was only a little better than the prose. Nothing much happens for large portions of the book, followed up by a cliffhanger out of freaking nowhere. I don't mind cliffhangers, generally, but this was just poorly written, with next to no lead-up in the storyline to get to that point.

Lastly, for a romance book that teased more than slightly risque sexual content, I honestly was so bored with some of those scenes that I skipped ahead a few pages to see if it would get better. Spoiler alert-- it didn't.

Would not recommend, would not read again.

This review may be a tad bit all over the place. This is a novel you should go into with no knowledge of what lies between each chapter, and with that, I’m so scared of spoiling you. So, without further waiting, let’s start with my review for Kings Of Jupiter by new-to-me author Nacole Stayton.

Kings of Jupiter by Nacole Stayton is the first book in the Ink and Lyrics Duet . If you love rockstar romance novels with a why choose (Reverse Harem) vibe. Don’t hesitate to pick this book up!! I wasn’t sure what I was getting myself into with this one. I read the tropes, and from those tiny facts, I was intrigued, so I thought, why the hell not. That decision to pick this book up was one of the best things I decided this month! Kings of Jupiter had everything I love in a rockstar romance. Spice, Swoon, and Angst!! If Nacole Stayton keeps up with this vibe, she’s going to have another fan!

Let’s start with the characters. First, we have the men of the rock band Kings of Jupiter. Mazen Wilde, Oliver Collins, and Cannon Rhodes, three of the four members that make up Kings of Jupiter. These men have all been through a lot in their lives, which is the reasoning behind why their personalities are so different. It was interesting unpeeling each layer of their armors and getting a glimpse into who they really are. I do have to say, the most intriguing character to me was Mazen Wilde due to the fact that he and Sophia have a past that she doesn’t exactly recall. I can’t wait to dive deeper into this little layer of angst in the next book!

And then we have Sophia Rose, who is the sweetest girl you’ll ever meet.. But don’t take that sweetness as weakness. This woman gives back what she receives. And I think Mazen Wilde is about to realize that with the second book. This woman has some serious drama coming into her life. But in this book, I loved her attitude and her overall personality. I also loved that she and her sister own an all female tattoo company. In romance novels it’s typically the men who do the tattooing, so this was an interesting change of pace.

Let it be known that this novel features not only MF scenes but also an MM, MFM, and MMF scene. If this isn’t your jam, you can either skip the scene or skip this duet altogether. These scenes were as spicy as heat gets!

I’m so happy I decided to give this novel a fair chance! Nacole Stayton blew me away with this world she’s created. The emotions are raw, the angst is high, and the suspense is fulfilling! I couldn’t get enough, and I’m, figuratively, dying for more!

Overall, I really enjoyed Kings of Jupiter! I’m going to leave you all with this. Sophia is one extremely lucky girl!! Everybody deserves to have a happily ever after. However, with this novel I’m not sure if that is going to happen or not…. UGH! I need answers! I absolutely have a strong love/hate with cliffhangers right now!

Kings of Jupiter is a why choose, rock-star romance and it's part one of the Ink and Lyrics duet. I knew going in that it would end on a cliffhanger, but that still didn't make it any easier to accept. What an ending!

Sophia is a successful and independent tattoo artist and owner of the Rose & Lace Ink Emporium, an all-female staffed tattoo studio. Her one rule is to never date a client, but one encounter with members of the rock band Kings of Jupiter has her not only breaking her rule, it also has her joining them on tour.

When it comes to why choose romances, I (almost) always have a clear favorite hero. This book is no exception and I'm calling dibs on Oliver. He's sexy, funny and cuddly, and just seems like an all-around good time. Cannon is the quiet, mysterious hero (and you know how those quiet types are), and I couldn't help but be drawn to him too. Now, Mazen Wilde...I have such mixed feelings about Mazen! At times, he's definitely not the most likable character, but you know how those types are too sometimes...there are reasons behind his behavior, and oh how I want everything to come to light!

This story threw a few surprises my way and it definitely took a turn that I didn't see coming, and that cliffy? It left me not just wanting but NEEDING more.

Kings of Jupiter was a pleasant surprise. I was highly encouraged by my bff to give it a read as it is a why-choose, rockstar romance. The FMC being an independent woman and tattoo artist was a bonus. The other tropes of second-chance romance and mystery were amazing as well.

Each MMC brings something to the table that the reader will love. The found family vibe will keep the reader engaged and drawn in. The cliffhanger at the end was brutal and I am so glad I’d already downloaded the sequel to continue immediately. I’m excited to see where it takes the characters.

Sophia & Oliver & Mazen & Cannon

Oh where do I begin???
Sophia is pretty much a bad Bish!!! she has been through a lot in her life but doesn’t let that get her down….she and her sister co-own an all female employed tattoo shop…well except for the male security….uh you have to have at least one in the bunch

In walks the Kings of Jupiter….a rock band that tours world wide and gets a tattoo as a memory/souvenir of the location they performed….little does Sophia know her world is about to change for the better…Oliver gives Sophia the deal of a lifetime and she jumps on it….one problem…she has a past with one of the band members….

I generally don’t pick a favorite in a why choose romance but theres just something about Mazen….once he finally quits throwing adult temper tantrums he gets you all in your feelings….
Now don’t get me wrong….Oliver and Cannon are pretty great too but in different ways…..both are fighting demons from their past….can they work through their issues though

Let’s just say this book (well Mazen) has taken up a pretty good sized spot in my heart….this book is a duo and that cliff hanger UGH!!! I cant wait to see what happens in the next book…..I see a lot of drama in Sophia and the Kings future and I’m ready for it…oh and wait till you see how the band was named….I LOVE IT!!!

If you love a good Why Choose romance book with just enough spice to not be to much give book 1 of this duo a read….there’s plenty of drama to keep you on your toes…trust me

Give me a book with these three Tropes namely rockstar Romance, why choose enemies to lovers vibes and I will be happy. Now that I've finished it and I terribly miss the banter between Oliver and the relationship between him and Sophia it's something you can't do without. But there are two aspects that I loved the banter between the boys and Sophia who cannot be adored with her strong character and her being cheeky yes, but in an adorable way. I can't wait to find out more about the mystery that is around her. I definitely want to find out more about them but not just the two of them.
I didn't know Nacole but
I love his writing style and the absolutely dynamic characters with that intriguing touch that keeps you glued to the pages because you always want more... You never get bored
When I read the final part I was absolutely not prepared for the cliffhanger.... Absolutely not. I absolutely want the second one now.
1000% recommended. Rating 5⭐

Book one in the Ink and Lyrics duet and it’s all rockstar goodness, with a bit of relationship tension, mystery, and hot chemistry.

Sophia is our resident tattoo artist and bad bish. When a walk-in turns into a steamy one night, she finds herself in the company of the Kings of Jupiter. Little does she know this will put her on a collision course with her past.

I totally enjoyed the differing relationships between Sophia, Oliver, Cannon, and Mazen. Some seem to go full steam and another shrouded in mystery.

This story is on par with what you would expect from a rockstar romance….insta-lust, slow burn, sexy rockers, spicy secrets, and more ⚔️. Plus, after that cliffhanger ending I need to know more!

HOLY CRAP ON A CRACKER, Y'ALL!

Please note off the bat that this book ends on a HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE cliffhanger. I cannot wait for the next one. I had to pick up my jaw off the floor when there were no more pages to turn.

Things were just getting good. Sophie was starting with Oliver and Cannon. Cannon and Oliver were making up. Mazen and Sophie were working through some stuff. Everyone was on their way to one, big, happy family of Why Choose then...that ending.

I thought this was going to be a normal Why Choose book. I didn't realize (since I go in blind) that this was also going to be a romantic suspense. Ugh. I don't know if I can wait for July for Queen of Jupiter.

Thank you to The Author Agency and Nacole Stayton for this ARC. This is my honest to goodness opinion.

Kings of Jupiter by Nacole Stayton is the first book in the Ink and Lyrics Duet #1. I love a good rock star romance, especially a reverse harem/why pick one with a twist! THAT ENDING. OMG, that cliffhanger left me craving the second book now. I can’t wait to see how this story plays out in Queens of Jupiter (Ink and Lyrics Duet #2) when it releases on July 15th.

I was really looking forward to this duet, but unfortunately I ended up skimming most of the book and I was ready to DNF by 50% into book 1. I only kept going because I wanted to see if I had guessed her secret correctly. (I had).

The rest of my review **CONTAINS SPOILER**

The 2 biggest issues I had were:

1. The MMC, Mazen. He was immature, disgusting and unredeemable. The FMC should have ignored him and never looked back. Instead we have the FMC panting after him (BBS hits again), despite him being a complete a**hole to her. They had a ONS 10 years ago. He left her the morning after while she was still asleep. He left no contact details. It's unclear whether they even exchanged names. For some reason he has pined after her as the "one that got away" for 10 years and made a minimal effort to find her during those 10 years. They randomly meet again, after she has just slept with one of his best friends and band mate. She doesn't recognise him so he calls her a wh*re for sleeping with his best friend and starts weeks of abuse towards her and screwing other woman in front of her, all just to show he's "hurt" that she doesn't remember him. The whole time he is calling her names and screwing other women in front of her, she is falling for 2 of the other band mates and still wants Mazen because she's just so attracted to him. Even at the end, after they both remember and are together, it comes out that she had a baby and the baby only survived 2 days after birth and the baby may be his. She lost the baby after an attack and as part of her trauma response had most likely blocked out parts of their night together, explaining why she didn't remember him. Additionally, he was not the only potential baby daddy. When he finds out that she had and lost the baby and it may have been his, he again goes off the deep end. Treats her horribly, has no consideration for the trauma and grief she has lived through for 10 years as a result of losing a child or the emotional state she is in currently having to relive the entire thing, he's a complete a/hole to her and forces her to take him to the baby's grave, even though she hasn't been back in 8 years or so because she can't face it. But after all this, she still takes him back with a basic apology from him. AS IF! There is no way in hell I would take him back after the way he acted initially, but his response to the baby was appalling and would ensure that I could never forgive him or move on with him.

2. My second issue and probably the biggest reason I was ready to DNF, was that the book could easily have been a single book and would have been better off for it. Most of the book is internal "soul searching" by the characters or repeated metaphors to describe one simple feeling the character is having. I ended up skipping over the internal thoughts and just reading the actual words spoken by the characters because it was just too much. It was just repeating the same thought over and over again, in slightly different ways. It did not progress the book or add anything to the story. In some parts it was extremely distracting. For example, she's supposed to be having a 3some and instead I'm reading 3 paragraphs of her internal monologue and 2 or 3 metaphors in a row, to describe one emotion or feeling. By the time you get back to what is actually happening in the bedroom, I've forgotten what was already happening because it's been 3 paragraphs of soul searching (nothing to do with the s*xy times).

I did finish both books but, I'm only going to rate book 1 with the general idea of the duet without major spoilers.

Sophia: I enjoyed the story enough that I read both. It did make me laugh, it made me sad, and it made my heart shrink in anxiety at times. I enjoyed Sophia and Lacey (her sister) and their personalities. I loved their banter with each other and the overall love they had for each other. I loved how big Sophia's heart was and how strong she was as a character - she's been through a lot and while she's got scars (mentally and physically) she's still tough as nails. I loved her sass, her wittiness and how she was unafraid to be unapologetically herself. My complaint and I know this is controversal but, it's MY opinion .

Oliver: I'm always a sucker for the golden retriever boy, especially in harems. They usually end up being my favorite and Ollie was no different. He was the happy go lucky one, the one who made everyone smile and laugh, could lighten the room with his smile and personality. He had the roughest childhood out of everyone but, he never gave up and he still came out the other side with a heart of gold. While all the men were generally playboys since they are rockstars - he was the overly flirty one and probably the biggest playboy. Yet the moment he met Sophia he was hooked, lined and sinkered without even realizing it.

Cannon: The quiet one, the one who doesn't speak much bit when he does it's always important and meaningful. He's not great with emotions and comes off gruff and mean but, he's really got a heart of gold under there. He's the biggest of the men (described as Viking-like) yet, he's softer inside than you'd think he just isn't good at expressing himself but, he's still the protector of the group. He sees Ollie falling for Sophia fast and he's worried he'll be drawn in as well so he tries to keep a distance from her but..that doesn't pan out to well. I love how he's dominate with Sophia but, can still show her through actions how much he cares for her. He also might be in love with Ollie? 🤭

Mazen: I'll be honest. Mazen made it hard to like him until like..mid book two. He was rude, angry, mean and hateful. Mostly to Sophia but, he'd snap at anyone. I get why he was mad. Him and Sophia had met 10 years ago, hooked up one night and he felt connected to her but, he left her in the morning without saying goodbye, giving her a name or any way to contact him and went on their first tour. He spends his entire career weaving her into songs and searching for her until they happen to find themselves in her tattoo studio and he finds out she'd just fucked Ollie and she didn't remember him. So he treats her like dirt instead of communicating with her. He fucks other women in front of her hoping for a reaction, he slutshames her (even though he's plowing through women like crazy??) and pushes her away over and over again. Book 2 we finally get to see another side of him and you do feel for him. He does have a heart. He's just very closed off and angry for many reasons and takes it out on others when he should do some reflection.

Now, while I enjoyed the characters and story for the most part. My biggest gripe is that it seemed the story jumped sooo much. One chapter they'd be doing something, somewhere and having a conversation then it ends rather abruptly and the next chapter is somewhere else with time having passed. Important things and conversations would happen off page which irked me to no end. But, yes I know how this will make me spund but I am a smutslut so I'm gonna complain about it! We got many spicy scenes but then they'd also abruptly end or fade to black half way through. What's the point of doing a reverse harem and doing group scenes or spicy scenes then cutting them off when you've already written some raunchy stuff? I wanted to pull my care out and cry lmao. I wanted those group scenes, I wanted the mm scenes and their talks about their relationships with one another. But it all got cut off. So yeah, I'm gonna complain about lack of spice.

The first book had lesser story and centered more about lust, the relationships budding and the rockstar aspect and then towards the end and into book 2 we get more of a storyline woven in. Sophia and Lacey's father owes a mobster money and the man takes it out on them and it trickles into bad things happened and Sophia hiding/lying about things in her past. I enjoyed that storyline and the romance but, again a lot of conversations, story and spice jumped around or cut off which is why I brought my rating to a 3. Hell even the final epilogue takes place years later and it doesn't even say that so I was rereading trying to figure out the timeline before it was mentioned. There was soo much potential I just feel Nacole should've taken more time to flesh out conversations and scenes. It would've made the overall story better.

I’m so confused

Ok, so … where to start. First. Brava for writing a strong female character with zero cares given about getting what she wants. And men who are just as ok with it as she is. She is brassy and fun, and while the first few pages Almost made me drop the book (I like spice but several pages about getting off and a dead sex toy in need of charging was just…as in I don’t know the character well enough yet to want to read about her exasperation with a non charged toy.) I’m glad I kept reading. These characters are interesting, if a little too wrapped up in their own bologna.
First gripe, the voices of the various members…I’m ok with drastic tone changes between characters, but our drummer was almost too hippy at first for my tastes. I do not want philosophy while reading why choose romances. Especially when it’s as vitriolic and in your face as this one. Our main antagonist was Suuuuch a massive dill pickle I had no sympathy and while it can be a turn on that level of animosity and hate is just a big no for me. I Do get it now though, last two pages of the book. And ARGH Why?
I guessed who was behind the app text chain quickly, but that was fine.
I wished there wasn’t such abrupt scene changes from one chapter break to the other where I went back and reread the previous page just to check I hadn’t missed anything. Nope, they were just in another country…now they are at a wedding. Or stopping mid scene when three were getting it on to suddenly waking up to a phone call the next morning.
Also, while I Finally get the reason behind constantly saying “if I have ovaries” it got old. And the scar issue? I actually thought she had been knifed badly. I mean the last two pages of this massive cliffhanger explain it, but I felt a bit annoyed at how strung along that bit was and just Really? REALLY?! That’s how this book ends. Grrrr.

Kings of Jupiter is a why choose rockstar romance. It has a strong-willed and minded FMC that I absolutely adored. She is a boss babe with a dark past that slowly shows itself as the book progresses. The 4 guys of the band, Kings of Jupiter, all have their own great traits and personalities. The story was okay and interesting enough.

Here's where I'm going to differ from a lot of the other reviews. Mazen is annoying. I absolutely HATE the "I'm not going to say anything, then brood about it" type. On top of that, the author puts all the backstory inner monologuing within the spicy scenes. Just let the spice spice. Think about other things later. I'm sorry, your you know is in her you know and you want to talk about your childhood. Hard pass. On top of that, it seemed every chapter someone was "getting pulled back into the moment." They would just stand there for pages droning on about everything under the sun, and BAM have to be pulled back into the moment.

The book could have easily been 100 pages less without all the unnecessary inner monologuing making scenes last chapters instead of pages.

“Hell hath no fury like a woman who couldn’t come before noon.”

Dive into the exhilarating world of rock 'n' roll and tattoos with Kings of Jupiter, the first book in the Ink and Lyrics Duet by Nacole Stayton. This reverse harem romance is a wild ride that you won’t want to miss!

Sophia Rose, a top-tier tattoo artist and owner of the all-female Rose & Lace Ink Emporium, has a strict rule: never date a client. Her rule is put to the test when she meets the Kings of Jupiter, a famous rock band, on one of the most unforgettable nights of her career.

When Oliver Collins, the band's charismatic lead guitarist, walks into Sophia’s studio for a late-night tattoo session, sparks fly immediately. A jellyfish tattoo in a rather interesting place and a shocking revelation later, Sophia finds herself with an offer to join the band on tour as their personal tattoo artist.

From the moment she steps on the tour bus, Sophia’s world is transformed. She meets Mazen Wilde, the enigmatic lead singer with whom she shares a tense history, and Cannon Rhodes, the silent, brooding drummer who hides his emotions behind a tough exterior. The chemistry between Sophia and these rock gods is undeniable, leading to a passionate and tumultuous journey.

Stayton's writing captures you instantly, immersing you in the vibrant, chaotic life of Sophia and the Kings of Jupiter. The banter between Sophia and Oliver is witty and entertaining, setting the stage for a dynamic and steamy relationship. The tension with Mazen hints at a mysterious shared past, adding layers of intrigue and depth to the story.

Kings of Jupiter is a thrilling blend of music, romance, and drama that will leave you eagerly awaiting the next book. If you’re a fan of strong heroines, rock star romances, and sizzling reverse harem dynamics, this book is a must-read!

Disclaimer: I received this book at no cost from the publisher/author. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. I am leaving a voluntary review and all opinions are my own.

The premise for this book really intrigued me. I have read reverse harem books before but never a rockstar romance with "why choose" themes. I knew I had to dip my toes into this pool and test the waters.

Nacole Stayton writes a very relatable story. I enjoyed the way she wove in tension, banter, and intrigue. The plot was very compelling and I was completely invested in the story.

I was grateful that this book didn't suffer from a case of cookie-cutter syndrome. Many reverse harem stories have male characters that blend together and don't have any originality. I didn't feel that in this case. Each character was distinct and made an impression. The characters were easy to connect with.

The romance was okay for me. This story is a definite case of insta-lust or insta-love which is a trope I generally steer clear of. That aspect aside, I did enjoy the dynamics and connections between the characters and how that played into the overall romance.

Overall, this was an angsty "why choose" romance littered with humor and a touch of suspense. This book ends on a cliffhanger so you will have to buckle up and prepare yourself for a little wait for book two. If you enjoy reverse harem or rockstar romance stories that are engaging, have found family vibes, and plenty of great banter then pick this one up!

Ink & Lyric Duet: Book 1

Big, bad tattoo-heroine, Sophia Rose and her sister, Lacey start the first chapter off strong. Sophia has come to the conclusion that she despises vibrators that need to charge. What is wrong with batteries anyway? Starting her day off in the wrong way with a dead toy, makes her one frustrated tattoo artist (who does indeed own her own shop)! Badass right? In walks some of the sexiest men alive. Little does she know they are in the world-known band, Kings of Jupiter. What went down at the tattoo shop that evening can play out in your imagination...or you can read the book!

Sophia and Lacey's relationship melts my soul. Sophia needed to grow up and become the parent for Lacey at too young of an age. "I love you Lacey Monroe Lozier. More than anything in this entire universe. I won't let him hurt you." -Sophia

They both support themselves by owning an all-female staffed tattoo shop, Rose & Lace. Sophia was propositioned with an offer that any entrepreneur couldn't decline. This is when Sophia finds herself in the middle of Mazen, Oliver and Cannon-three of the bandmates from KOJ. All three of them have stories of their own (which I loved learning their lives), and all of them became enthralled with Sophia Rose. Lines blurred, life got messy, relationships formed, and vulnerability struck. Also, be prepared for it to land on a huge cliffhanger.

I have to mention the love I have for Jupiter, the band's Husky that travels with them. He is such a sweet pea and lives the high life. I kept relating him to my pups and realize how good my dogs really do have it. Ha!

You will laugh, you will gasp, you will wiggle in your seat. This is a book where your poker face needs to be ready at all times, and please for the love of gawd don't read this in front of your parents- AWKWARD! Oh, and make sure your toys are charged. ;)

**Check Nacole's warnings/blurb in the beginning of the book prior to reading. This book is for a lot of people, but not for the faint of heart. You need to be open-minded going into this (reverse harem-heroine has three band boyfriends...).

"I can tell you're not a saint, Rosella. Morals be damned anyway." ~ Kings of Jupiter by Nacole Stayton 🎤🤘🏼🎸❤️‍🔥

MY REVIEW:
🌟🌟🌟🌟.25 // 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️.5

It's been a minute since I read a book this spicy... but let me just say I was SO HERE FOR IT!👀

From the start this writing pulls you into the world where Sophia (FMC) owns an all female tattoo studio with SO MUCH SASS AND SPUNK!❤️‍🔥 I PROMISE YOULL LOVE HER IMMEDIATELY!🤪 She is incredibly independent and a very strong//badass FMC!

One day the band members of Kings of Jupiter walk into her studio for some tattoos and one band member gets more than just a tattoo 😉 and ends up offering her a job as their traveling tattoo artist on the road during their world tour!🤘🏼

Oliver is the golden retriever guitarist that easily gets along with Soph!🎸💛 Mazen is the italian, grumpy, lead singer who has a history with Soph that she doesn't seem to remember.🧡👀 And finally, Cannon is the quiet drummer of the group who enjoys taking care of plants!💙🪴

Oliver, Mazen, and Cannon are three out of four of the band members who find themselves drawn to Soph while on tour and things definitely get a little spicy!🥵

Overall, I loved the mystery surrounding Soph and her past, THE BANTER, and how different each of the guys are and what they offer!🥰

Emojis that describe this book:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.
🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️. “Roses are red, violets are blue, who knew one d!ck wouldn’t be enough for you?” - Mazen Wilde

A why choose rockstar romance with a tattoo-gun-wielding bad@ss FMC??
SAY LESS!!!
The rock band Kings Of Jupiter walk into Rose & Lace Ink Emporium one night after their hometown show to get tattooed. There they meet our HOT AS HËLL fmc, Sophia Rose Lozier who is tasked with giving the bands guitar player, Oliver, a jellyfish tattoo on a particular *body part* 🍆 because of this tattoo session, Oliver becomes completely enamored with her & asks her to accompany the band on tour to tattoo them after their shows. She “gets to know them* during her time with them and she even becomes the object of the drummer, Cannon Rhodes, desires also.
But the lead singer, Mazen Wilde, is LESS than thrilled with her presence (for reasons he refuses to divulge to anyone, even his band mates) and has no problem letting her know that. But our girl Sophia has no issue playing his games and puts it right back to him just as good as she gets it! But Sophia is harboring some secrets of her own that threaten her chances of a relationship with both Oliver & Cannon, but especially with Mazen, who she had begun to make progress with.

This book FLOORED me! It’s my 2nd 5 star read of the year so far! The character development was on point (even our secondary characters had substance & were very important to the overall story), the plot was FANTASTIC! The plot twist was twisting, the SPICE WAS SPICING! And that ENDING?!?! WOW! I did not see that coming!
Speaking of the SPICE! Y’ALL!! This book had me sweating & biting my lip! There are only a few spicy scenes throughout the book, but do not fret friends. Even though it’s not packed with it, it is QUALITY SPICE! Top tier! *CHEF’S KISS* I can’t stop thinking about these characters that have found their way into my heart! I cannot wait to get book 2 in my hands! 10/10 recommend!

Sophia and her sister Lacey owns a popular tattoo shop. She is offered a chance of a lifetime to go on tour with the band named Kings of Jupiter as their personal tattoo artist. With the money she earns after the completion of her contract she will be able to open other shops as well as take care of a little problem hanging over her head.

Things heat up fast in this story as Sophia bed hops between band members all while trying to keep a low profile which is hard to do because she is seen in the spotlight with the Kings of Jupiter front man Mazen posing as his “Fake Girlfriend” in an attempt to clean up his image.

I swear the characters in this story had the communication skills of toddlers. For a bunch of consenting adults their communication skills were ridiculously below average. You have Mazen throwing temper tantrums because Sophia doesn't remember him from a one night stand 10 years ago and instead of talking to her; he resorts to rude taunts and sl*t shaming her for sleeping with his best friend mere minutes after meeting him. You have Oliver and Cannon who want each other as much as they want Sophia but low and behold neither is adept enough to express his feelings. Once again, here are grown men who work together, travel together constantly in close proximity to one another and they keep everything bottled up inside.

Secrets, secrets, secrets. Everyone is hiding something; especially Sophia. For someone needing to keep a low profile she always found herself surrounded by others. If being on the run for 10 years have taught her anything; it should have been “Don't Ignore The Signs”. If that wasn't bad enough she was a little liar. There's a difference between omitting the truth and flat out lying. Sophia’s lies could literally get people k*lled.

Which is proven in the cliffhanger this book ends on. Sophia’s past has caught up to her and due to her lies no one except her sister knows what's going on. Now Sophia is on her own in her enemies clutches after being betrayed by a lover from her immediate past.

Non stop shenanigans!!!
