Brittania Rises talks about political propagandas and resistance movements from different perspectives. It can be easily seen in chapter 1 where there are discussions that led to heated arguments about true intentions and motives of the countries to form international affairs. There are multiple things happening all at once. There are even various locations where things are happening but they all tied up in the end. At first, I was overwhelmed by the details and the characters being mentioned. I also got confused but maybe it’s because I wanted to make or confirm the connection of the characters right away.

I believe this book has its voice when it comes to political agendas, things happening behind closed doors that no normal citizen can wrap their mind around. You’ve seen it in movies and you’ve read it in books – political ploys and manipulation that were created by the most powerful.

This also shows a situation wherein different individuals each have their own goals, which can contradict others. There are always multiple solutions to one problem. I believe it’s obvious here that King Alfred wanted to make a name for himself – deviating from her mother’s tactics.

This book is thought provoking. It makes you wonder how situations like this can happen in real life and it is very dangerous. Gaining political advantage at the expense of the innocent citizens is alarming. This challenges the minds of others and make people rethink what they know, even if they don’t like what they hear.

I don’t normally read these types of books but this intrigued my mind and after a few chapters, I became interested and invested. This has suspense and revelation of dark secrets that are happening on the inside of the organization. It shows that even the bad side is not united at all. Too much power, if left unchecked, is too dangerous to be possessed by one person only. Overall, it’s a good read!

I loved the action movie style vibe of this book and the pace in which the storyline moved at. It was full of suspense, political intrigue, a tangled web of secrets and action packed scenes.

There were a great mixture of complex characters, some of which are trying to exploit the wrong doings of those in positions of power - which then led to them being hunted down like animals, in order to silence them, making for an exhilarating, nail-biting read.

I don't want to give anymore away as it's definitely one of those books that you need to read and experience for yourself, but overall I thought it was a fantastic, gripping story and a great start to the The Britannia Series.

Also, this is the second book of Russell's that I've read now, and they've both been well written, high adrenaline storylines that I can imagine making it on the big screen one day 🎬

Thank you @russ2000_uk for sending me a copy of your book 📓✨️

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ — Britannia Rises is an ambitious, high-stakes political thriller that reimagines the British Empire in a way that feels both unsettlingly real and wildly entertaining. Right from the first chapters, I was hooked by the sense that behind every polished facade is a secret waiting to detonate.

The author has a knack for crafting layered characters—whether it’s power players maneuvering in smoky backrooms or an ordinary teacher who suddenly finds himself tangled in conspiracies far above his pay grade. Each perspective deepens the tension and keeps the pages turning.

I loved how the book weaves politics, covert missions, and bursts of adrenaline-pumping action into one smooth narrative. It really gave me the vibe of a political spy show you’d binge on a rainy weekend—full of double-crosses, shadowy deals, and unexpected betrayals.

What stood out to me most is how vividly it all plays out on the page; you can almost hear the whispers in the corridors of power or feel the tires screeching during a frantic chase. Plus, just when you think you’ve found your footing, the plot twists keep you guessing.

My only wish? That it didn’t end so soon! I would have happily stayed in this world a bit longer to see how far the rabbit hole really goes. This is the kind of book that leaves you itching for the next installment.

If you’re craving a thriller that blends espionage, political intrigue, and cinematic action, Britannia Rises will absolutely deliver. Hats off to Russell Dumper for a great read. I can’t wait to see what secrets come to light next.

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Britannia Rises by Russel Dumper explores the fate of the British Empire at a critical turning point following the Queen’s death. The once-peaceful reign begins to unravel as some factions push for expansion while others strive to maintain order. Meanwhile, rival powers eye the chance to rise as the next dominant empire. Caught in the middle of this global tension is a young teacher who finds himself in the wrong place at the wrong time—an encounter that changes his life forever. He must protect himself and his family, slowly realizing that the world he knows is only a small piece of a much larger and more dangerous puzzle.

Although I’m not usually drawn to political stories, this one pulled me in within the first few chapters. At first, it seemed like a collection of separate storylines about the British Empire, but the author skillfully weaves them together into a cohesive, gripping narrative. There’s plenty of suspense and action, and the pace picks up dramatically after a certain point. I could easily imagine this book being adapted into a film—it holds your attention from beginning to end and leaves you wanting more.

It’s a well-written story with rich detail, yet it's easy to follow. If you’re looking for a book full of intrigue and suspense, this one is definitely worth a read.

In Britannia Rises, Russell explores a version of the British Empire that will do anything to safeguard their secrets, and maintain control stopping at nothing to achieve the ultimate goal! (you will have to read it to find out more!) 🕵️‍♀️

It's a very well-crafted story with believable characters who are described very well. The writing style is fluid and enjoyable, a real page-turner, in the view of multiple characters.

The narration is strong, detailed, and captivating, painting a clear picture that could easily be imagined as a TV show.

The intricate political conspiracies reminded me of Game of Thrones (but not in a fantasy setting) while intertwined with James Bond and The Bourne Identity, action-packed, fast-paced, easily satisfying fans of suspense and espionage.

The ending is handled so well leaving you wanting more, the story is so good, I could have easily read an extra 100 pages! 𝒈𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝒎𝒆 𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒑𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒆! 🙏

What a fantastic debut novel Russell! Thank you so much for the ride, I cannot wait until next year for more!
