Inspiring poetry of love for the oppressed and the exploited. The poems are not only militant but romantic, not only political but consciously personal. Speaking of the Guatemalan people's revolutionary struggle, Castillo's verses cannot help but touch the heart.

the story of his life is more interesting than his poems, but their naked urgency and moral authority are undeniable.
