Ember: Queen of Dragons #4

Dragons Of Shadow And Sea

Rate this book
I take one look at this gorgeous man, and I know. He’s my fated mate. The missing part of my soul. And all I can think is, “Not again.”

-

To say my new mating to Prince Malik of the Water Dragon Kingdom gets off to a rocky start would be an understatement. He refuses to accept that I’ve already bonded with two other dragons. Worse, his mother, the queen, sees my mates as threats to her secluded, hidden kingdom, and she has them imprisoned while they await their execution.

Even as I fight for my mates’ survival, I’m also fighting an irresistible attraction. Malik and I struggle to trust each other, but that doesn’t dim our passion. As we give in to temptation, Malik begins to work with me to free my other mates. But just when I think we might all be able to get along, a new threat emerges.

The Shadow Dragons have found us. And they’re not going to give up until they discover the source of my new, magical powers.

The Shadow Dragons are holding onto unexpected secrets, though. The deeper I dive into their plot to undermine the other dragon kingdoms, the more I discover about the hidden underbelly of the dragon world, about my family—and about myself.

-

Dragons Of Shadow And Sea is the fourth book in a new Why Choose paranormal romance series, which is best read in order, beginning with Book 1, Rejected By Dragons. Warning—contains a cliffhanger!

So Freakin Good!

I loved this book. There was So much happening, I felt like they barely had any peace in this book. Not compared to the previous ones. The whole world saving bit is amping up, and Ember is starting to feel the pressure. She also got some much needed answers about her parents. Who knew she had an uncle from her dad’s side, and he wasn’t a total jerk face that she would have expected considering he’s a shadow dragon. Lord Rook, I feel had an epiphany watching her converse with her parents, before they disappeared, seeing her release them from the soul ball without shattering it like others know to do. It broke me a little to read their impromptu conversation but it also healed the hurt a bit. As usual, I was in tune with her emotions when it came to all the things she faced. Although, Amy, Grace, and Jett seemed to have been left behind in the fire kingdom. I worried about them, hoping to read something but there was no mention. There was a moment where the one soul ball gem thing, whispered their name Amethyst to her and I am praying and hoping it’s not her bestie Amy. Ember deserves something good to happen to her. She brought Rafe and Jianyu through a portal at the end of the last book, trying to get away from the guards and shadow dragons that attacked them. They landed in the Water kingdom, and she immediately met her Water Prince mate. They put Rafe and Jianyu in a cell, while Ember is free to move around at Malik’s insistence. She holds off on claiming him as she wants to get to know him, while he gets to know her. Malik does not like to share. And has a possessive trait. Ember makes Malik give Rafe and Jianyu better accommodations, which Malik asks his mom for, the Queen of the Water kingdom. Turns out, her mate and her two oldest boys were murdered. More details come out on how the Shadow dragon war started, they placed shadow dragons as spies in all the courts, whispering in the kings ears, before it all came to a head. Then the shadow dragons disappear, everyone thinking they were “vanquished”. They went into hiding, planning, trying to breed the Heir to the Grand Dragon throne. Turns out, Aria is Storms sister, the Air Prince she was rejected by in the first book. She is engaged to the King of shadow dragons, and she’s to be the breeding machine, but his sorcerous lied to his majesty about her, calling her the fake heir when they captured her from the Water Kingdom. Aparently, the Water Queen made a deal, safety in exchange for Ember. Malik realizes too late to stop the kidnapping. The shadow kings citadel prison is where she meets 2 other females, a girl her age, and the girls grandmother. She tries to free them she she discovers she can still portal in the castle but they end up fighting off the sorcerous to give her time to run. Unfortunalu her bad luck continues and she uses up almost all the soul gem things to create a distraction before the whole citadel tower crumbles. Thankfully Malik got Rafe and Jianyu out and saw her plunge into the cold waters. They save her, thank god. She still has the Amethyst soul gem, and a ton of scrolls she stole too. This is when she says she has lots to tell them, before the book ends. She’s finally going to tell them about Storm, because they all need to head to the Ir kingdom, she has another mate to find from there. It’s obvious it’s Storm but she’s worried it might be Fury the thunder coont. Cant wait to read how she tells them all she has another mate out there!

🌶️2.5 this book was less spicy than the last book which was disappointing

Dragons of Shadow and Sea is the fourth book in this series and it picks up right where book three ended. It also included a summary of all three previous books which I liked because it reminded me of what happened in the other books since it has been a while since I have read them. I liked that we got to meet her new mate Malik Prince of the Water Dragons. I didn't like that Ember was separated from Rafe and Jianyu for so long. I liked that we found out more about her parents and where Ember came from. I also liked that we found out more about the prophecy and know that she will have a mate from the Air court. I do not want her mate to be Storm even though I know it probably will be. We know that it has to be a prince from the Air Dragons but why can't the author make up a long lost air prince who is nicer than Storm? If Storm is her mate, why have we not gotten his pov since book two? I cannot wait for the next book to come out so that I can find out what happens!

One more mate found.

Dizzy Hooper is A spectacular story teller, and Ember's tale just keeps getting better and better.
Dragons of Shadow and Sea is the 4th book of the Ember: Queen of Dragons, and this one takes us deeper into the dragon world.
2 Dragon Kingdoms thought to be wiped out are found. In one, Ember finds her 3rd mate. In the 4th, she could find her own destruction, and the fate of her parents.
Book 4 is still full of betrayal and secrets, but we are getting closer to the truth.
Again we are left guessing what happens next, but book 5 is right around the corner.

Loved it!!!
Dizzy did not disappoint with this book!
It was a pretty quick read and held my attention from beginning to end.
There was action, lots of feelings, spice and betrayal. We also learn so much and some major things are revealed!

Ember meets her third mate in book 4. We learn a little about Malik and more about the Water Kingdom. The chemistry and steam between was hot!

This was an excellent addition to the series. We got more answers and explanations. I have a few suspicions too.
The ending left me so excited for what's to come!!

I flew through this book. It was such a great addition to the series. It felt like the action never stopped in this one. Every time you thought you knew something a twist would come along to shake it up. Ember has met her third mate, and I love him already. I can’t say that the revelations about Ember were unexpected (they were definitely hinted at a lot throughout the series so far), but it’s nice to have confirmation! I can’t wait to see what Ember and her mates get up to next!

It was a quick but engaging read. I think this one is my favourite out of the series so far! I felt like this one had the best balance between spicy scenes and story-driven stuff for me so far. I also liked how the new guy wasn’t added immediately immediately despite there being a biological drive to.

Really enjoyed this read, love the characters more and more and I can’t wait for the next one!! There’s a lot of mystery still left to discover and solve, and I personally am here for it 😝

The story’s getting more and more complicated and intriguing! Here we delve deeper into Ember’s background as we collect yet another mate. It was a super quick read as I could hardly put it down. Malik is an interesting addition to the mix and we all know who the only one missing is. I absolutely cannot wait for the next book, or books(?), to come!

I'm looking forward to the next book. We know who the fourth mate is and I can't wait to see how that all unfolds.

I love this series and can’t wait for the last book. As following Betrayed by dragons, Ember has found another mate and the long gone water dragon kingdom of which Malik is the crown prince of. The first half of the book focuses mostly on and follows the progress of Ember and Malik’s blooming relationship as well as relearning the water kingdom. The second half is learn the answers to questions that we all have been wanting to know about ember and her connection to shadow dragons and some pre shadowing for the final book.

As always I love ember and how she continues to grow into herself and I love meeting and learn about her mates. I cannot wait for the next book.

Oh wow. What a continuation! We pick up where we left off, and everything is a bit dicey. Really like meeting the new guy, and getting to know what happened to the elusive water court.

Loved the twists and turns, excited to see where things go next!

Got me in the feels
I don't normally get emotional about books but this one had me reaching for the tissues.
Book 4 picks up moments after the ending of book 3 with the introduction of a third mate and Ember is at her wits end.
Shenanigans ensue.
Spicy times follow.
Magic and water and falling in love, then the BETRAYAL!
Ember had been through a lot in her relatively short life, I originally hoped that her story would be like Bilbo's and she'd go on an adventure but she'd Unite the Army's, defeat the foe, make Storm apologize and then settle with her magic in Unity

But no, she has to be the saviour.

Meeting Uncle Rook broke my heart and I hope they meet again.
I loved this book and read it in an afternoon.

Another great addition to the Queen of Dragon series! During this book we finally get to meet and learn more about Ember's third mate: Malik, the water dragon prince. It was a good paced development between the two considering Malik had imprisoned Rafe and Jianyu and I look forward to seeing where the relationship between all four of them goes.

We also get new plot twists on Ember's heritage and past finally! I can't wait to dive in more to that side of the story. The shadow dragon baddie is finally introduced too with a cameo of Storm's little sister. Plus we see the shadow dragon realm described in detail and I'd love to know more about it in future books.

Overall, really enjoyed the new revelations this book introduced to us, loving the pacing of the mateship as a whole and excited for the next book!
