Not all fur is friendly.

When one of the toughest shifters in D.C. disappears, Everly knows the vampire infestation is serious. To find her best friend’s love interest and prevent her from going rogue and making things worse, Everly enlists Cross’s help. After all, who better to rescue a wolf from vampires than the deliciously handsome vampire who loves kissing her forehead and waking her in bed?

Cross is more than willing to intercede on Everly’s behalf, especially if doing so annoys Shepard. However, both must put their competitive feelings aside when they realize the vampires aren’t just looking for their next meal. They’re starting a war, and only by working together will the group be able to stop what’s coming.

With centuries of deep-seated hatred, cooperating won’t come easy.

Join the D.C. crew as Vena once again does what she’s not supposed to in her quest to find Anchor, and Everly has to be rescued by not one, but two epic heroes.

This one went a little weird

I loved the first book and most of book 2. However, the ending was a little weird and has me worried about the next book and where this story is going. I am not confident I will continue reading with the direction it seems to be taking.

"Fangs and Fudge" is a great addition to the urban fantasy genre, blending elements of romance, suspense, and supernatural intrigue. In this latest installment, author Melissa Nicole takes readers on a thrilling journey through the streets of D.C., where tensions between shapeshifters and vampires reach a boiling point.

The story follows Everly (a formidable baker), who embarks on a mission to rescue her best friend's love interest. With the help of Cross, a sexy vampire with a penchant for adventure, Everly dives headfirst into a dangerous underworld where ancient rivalries threaten to ignite a full-blown war.

Everly and Cross's partnership is fraught with tension and chemistry, adding depth to their quest while keeping readers on the edge of their seats. Meanwhile, the pull between Everly and Shepard adds an extra layer of intrigue, fueling the narrative with rivalries and alliances that constantly shift and evolve.

The pacing is relentless, with each chapter delivering new twists and revelations that propel the story forward. From pulse-pounding action sequences to tender moments of romance, this book offers something for every reader, ensuring that the stakes remain high until the very end.

Overall, "Fangs and Fudge" is a must-read for fans of paranormal fiction. With its captivating plot, vibrant characters, and immersive world-building, it's a book that will leave readers eagerly anticipating the next installment in the series.

OMG! I Wasn't Ready for this Rollercoaster

Book 2 in the Shadow Trade Series took me on a roller coaster ride I was not prepared for. Everly has become the fascinated chew toy between two of the most powerful supernatural beings on the planet. Shepherd, the Werewolf Alpha King in DC and Cross, the recently awakened debonair Vampire both want her. Best friend, Vena realizes she really cares for Werewolf Anchor. Everybody is mixed up in some way with stones that Vena's grandparents were searching for when they disappeared, and powerful beings are willing to kill to get their hands on them. This book had so many twists and turns that my heart needs the break before Book 3 comes out. I don't often want a 3-way, but I want both Shepherd and Cross to get the girl. Deep sigh. The thing is, the cliffhanger made it clear that more trouble is coming. Vampires are running rampant. Werewolves -- or at least one -- arrogant deeps..t MC want more power and who knows where it all will end? I am hoping my heart can handle what comes next, the ride or die duo stays together and they both get their males, and Melissa Nicole Haag gives me my HEA. That is all.

The sweetest five-star read that comes with a little bite. This is number two in the Shadow Trade: Ruin of Relics series. Mmmmm Cross or Shepard who to pick, there is so much going on in this story that will keep you hooked, they really keep you on your toes and craving something a little sweet to nibble. I loved how Everly supports Vena as she has trouble in this story, it is true what they say you don’t know what you have until its gone, as Vena now knows. There is something really special about this story, it has everything you need for a great story, but it just has that extra special ingredient that makes it one that once you start you can’t put it down. Now I’m off to count the days until Death and Donuts as soon as we know the release date, until then I will just be eating donuts.

Bloody but good

For those who need warnings, there is a lot of blood during the big fight scene at the end, but it doesn't get too graphic.
This was just as good as the first book, if not better! I love the witty banter and character development. I don't usually like love triangles, but this one is ok for me because Everly is not agonizing over her impending choice like an angsty teen; she's slowly processing how and why she likes each guy. I also like that Cross and Shepard are not forcing her to choose before she's ready. I find myself enjoying this series a lot more than others I'm currently reading because I don't have to skip over gratuitous spice. I can't wait for the next book!

The second book in the series is just as much fun as the first. We get to know the crew at Blur better as we visit the pack home. We see the Cross vs Shepard kisses get serious as Ev tries to not hurt anyone. I can't figure out who I want her to end up with.

We see Vena actually get worried about Anchor and not give MC an inch. There's so much going on in the Shadow World with the vampires trying to overthrow the werewolves, more clarity over Miles' research and the rings.

I can't wait to find out who has the remaining 2. And what purpose they serve in the Queen vampire's plan. So many new questions arise. Looking forward to the next book eagerly.

Highly recommend {chef's kiss}

Have been in the mood for a paranormal mystery with shades of romance, and this happened to pop up in my recommendations.

I loved it. The characters are fun, flirty, and stumbling from one disaster to another. Cross is darkly inviting, while Shepard is hot and intensely protective of Everly. Now, while I find Everly sweet and compassionate, Vena, on the other hand, is a snarky tornado a lá Tasmanian Devil level chaos, who leaps first and kind of apologises to Everly later while feeling guilty.

In all, the adventure was fun. I devoured this in one sitting and am picking up the next book asap.

4.5 🌟

Loved the bromance btw Cross and Shepard ... =) This is the second book in the series and it continues where the first one ended. And the unfolding of this story did not disappoint, I think one of the best things in this book is the banter between Cross and Shepard , it is funny and made me laugh so many times while reading this book. I love how Vena is always stepping in and having Everlins back, that is a true best friend in my opinion. I found myself being frustrated with Shepard, he is always a gentleman. But I can't wait to see what happens in the next book.

“Fangs and Fudge” by Melissa Nicole was amazing and I loved reading it. The character development continues to grow and is so fun to read. Vena cracks me up and has been cringing at the same time. She's a perfect BFF. I really enjoyed reading more about Shepard and his wolf pack. I'm definitely leaning more on Team Shepard. However, Cross is adapting to this new era quite well and as sexy as ever. Everly is definitely going to have a tough time figuring out her feelings for both of these men who are not making it easy on her. The storytelling is very interesting and full of action and more knowledge of why there is such a huge vampire infestation in D.C. I cannot wait for book 3.

Delicious addition

I am loving the Ruin of Relics series! Miles is safely back at home, but with all the vampire activity in D.C., Shepard has to bring some additional help in from California. New blood and blossoming relationships pushes this story forward till there is another mysterious disappearance and more secrets to be uncovered. Hang on for the epilogue, you won't believe what's coming next!

This series is so fun! I adore both Everly and Vena and their delightful banter. They truly are ride and die friends - and I love it!
A few twists I wasn’t expecting, lots of action and suspense. And of course the back and forth with Cross and Shepard continues … I can’t wait to see where it all goes! Especially after that epilogue!!

OMG, this book is a great continuation in the series. I love Cross & Shepard both, and I can’t decide who’s better for Everly now. Best of all, there is a ton of humor, mystery, & flirtation in this slow burn paranormal romance. I can’t wait for book 3, I want it as soon as possible!

I read this book in less than a day!

I just love the relationships in this book. Everly and Vena are so much fun. Everly and Cross are a hot duo as are Everly and Shepard. (Totally team Cross.) The mysteries keep coming and the desserts are sweet. Keep up the good work ladies!

Another good one

Just as good as 1st. book. Enjoyed her confusion of which one to take to her bed. She does not realise the danger that was still out there and MC was the idiot who thought he was the one who could win everything.

OMG I’m not sure if I’m team Shepard or team Cross. However, whom ever she chooses will be wonderful for Everly.

Trust my enemy

Book 2 holds you in "thrall" as much as book 1, and every page is a testament to the strength of each characters will and desire and the amazing paths they choose!

Melissa Nicole’s Fangs & Fudge (Shadow Trade: The Ruin of Relics Book 2) was bought because Melissa/MJ Haag is a must-read author for me. The first book in this series (a partnership with Nicolette Pierce), Blood & Bonbons, didn't impress me much and left me quite frustrated with a lot of the characters and the chaos, but I'm really glad I gave this second installment a shot.

In this second book, the mystery was more clearly set out, Vena was a much better best friend character and not quite so utterly stupid and bullheaded, and the romantic relationships were starting to develop more. I also enjoyed the dynamic with the new wolf pack. I'm really happy with how the authors tidied up the flaws of the first book and made something light-hearted, funny, with interesting characters in a cool world. It's not often a good-premise-badly-done scenario gets flipped in book 2 so full props to them and I'm absolutely going to be continuing this series.

#teamShepard because would Cross even be into Everly if it wasn't for the blood thing that keeps happening, might I add. Which leads me to believe Vena has rubbed off more on Everly than she knows. Also the whole who will she choose is starting to feel a lil drawn out. That being said, I did enjoy the story.
