From USA Today bestselling author Claudia Burgoa comes a brand new Kentbury novella where the grumpy recluse might meet his match. Except, that’s his best friend’s little sister who’s way out of his league.
Up until a year ago, I had everything going for me. A husband, children . . . the best apartment in SOHO. Everything was great until a business deal went wrong and I was no longer useful. I lost everything, including custody of my kids.
My father disowned me, just like my sister before me. Fortunately, one of my brothers took me into his home. I’m picking up the pieces, learning to handle my grandmother’s bakery… And dealing with my brother’s best friend.
Henrik Tremblay is grumpy, infuriating, and too handsome for my broken heart. It’s impossible to avoid him in this small town. And when my grandmother pushes us to organize the annual love festival. . . I get the feeling only one of us will come out of this alive.
Claudia is an award-winning, USA Today bestselling author. She writes alluring, thrilling stories about complicated women and the men who take their breath away. She lives in Denver, Colorado with her husband and her youngest two children. She has a sweet Bichon, Macey, who thinks she's the ruler of the house. She's only partially right. When Claudia is not writing, you can find her reading, knitting, or just hanging out with her family. At night, she likes to binge watch shows with her equally geeky husband.

I'm loving Kentbury Tales so much! with Love in Kentbury, Claudia Y. Burgoa surprised me with her choice of main female character, but even though I didn't expect or want to read Lou, I really enjoyed reading her story with Henrik, the personal story of both main characters, Louanne's small redemption and their path in Kentbury to find themselves in a world totally different from their own.

LOVE IN KENTBURY is the story of Louanne and Henrik's second chance at love. I wasn't sure we would get this story because Louanne wasn't the nicest of people in the previous story, and Henrik has been a bit of a grump on occasion, but time and circumstances can change a person.
I will admit to not being a fan of Lou's at the beginning because of her previous actions, but once I got to know her better, I liked her a lot. Plus, the chemistry between Lou and Henrik was great.
Love is in the air and my heart is filled with so much joy after reading this novella! I always feel like Kentbury is a town for lovers and Love In Kentbury (Kentbury Tales #3) did not disappoint and it’s literally THE perfect Valentine’s Day treat.
Louanne is McKay’s sister from Fall In Kentbury and things haven’t fared well for her since her divorce. Her ex husband is despicable and his lies helped him win full custody of their two kids. After feeling defeated, Louanne has no other choice but to move to Kentbury and as soon as she gets there, who does she run into? Her crush from years ago and her brother’s best friend, Henrik otherwise known as the hermit grump and the grump of Kentbury. He’s a retired hockey player who also just relocated to this quaint and cozy town. Henrik might be a grump but he’s gotten even sexier over the years and he still has a thing for Louanne. It’s obvious that the sparks and chemistry between them most certainly never died and cupid is about to work his magic.
I love second chance romances and this one is a light hearted and charming hit! It has the perfect amount of sweet and love that appeals to the romantic heart and will make you swoon.
Although this is part of a series it is the first book in the series I read and was able to follow along just fine. I am a fan of Kentbury. It is not just a small town it is a place you can go for a fresh start, rediscover yourself, and if you are lucky you may find love. Overall this book was great and can make you feel good and the love. this was a great second chance/brother-best-friend romance. I enjoyed Lou and Henrik. I enjoyed the grump Henrik jumping in to help. I enjoyed Lou pulling herself up out of her slump and rebuilding her life. Kentbury is a place to visit, you will not be disappointed in the journey! ~Reemah💜
I’ve really enjoyed this Kentbury series so much. The small town world is like a warm hug. So when I heard there was going to be another story I jumped on it. This is a short and sweet second chance story that really tugs on the heartstrings. I find stories with children usually do that. I love Henrik, not only is he a former hockey player, but he steps up for a wronged single mother and her children like they are his own. That gets me every time.
✨Review✨ *** Love in Kentbury was so good! I love this series and how easy it is to read. The characters were so loveable and fun. The story was fast paced, easy to follow, and short and sweet. I loved the love and relationship between Lou and Henrik. Henrik was such a sweetheart. He was so caring and giving. I enjoyed seeing the other characters and cannot wait for more book from this series! *** Stars: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Romance: 🩷🩷🩷🩷 Spice: 🔥 *** Thank you to Claudia Burgoa for the ARC to review. ***
I love the new town and characters in this series. I enjoy strong female heroines who embrace their strengths to become better versions of themselves. Louanne reinvents herself, learning who she truly is now that she doesn't have to stay hidden under the rules of her parents and ex-husband. She has a second chance with Henrik, the town grump.
I enjoyed listening to Henrik and Louann's story. She used to adore Henrik when she was younger. They used to have late night conversations in her parents' kitchen. The years were not kind to both. Now Louann has to find herself, find a job and a place to live so she can get her kids back. As the town grump, Henrik gets acsecond chance with Louann. MacKenzie Cartwright and Grayson Owen's did a great job with the narration.
Claudia Burgoa has done it again! I absolutely loved Love in Kentbury, an incredible small-town second chance at love story, the third book in her new Kentbury Tales series. I am looking forward to reading the other books in the series. Claudia Burgoa continues to show that she is an amazing storyteller and continues to be one of my favorite authors to read. It was impossible to put Love in Kentbury down, and I loved every moment on every page. One of my favorite parts is how the title of the book is incorporated into the love story. Who does not love hot sexy men, strong females, loving families, and friends, who always support one another? I really enjoy how the book is told in the first person from the perspective of the main characters. I love getting the insight and feelings from the different characters. I love how Claudia Burgoa always manages to create the "perfect" heroine, who is a strong, sassy woman on her own, to balance out the sexy, swoon worthy man. Love in Kentbury is filled with the heartbreaking and heartwarming moments that I have come to love and expect in a Claudia Burgoa love story, and she did not disappoint, especially with the poignant and bittersweet moments that filled this page turner. Love in Kentbury is the story of recently divorced Louanne “Lou” McFolley, and her brother’s friend, Henrik Tremblay, former captain of the Boston Blizzards in the National Hockey League. Lou’s ex-husband, Anthony DuPont filed for divorce, remarried, and has custody of their two children, Archibald “Archie” and Tilly and left her destitute. This all happened after the business deal fell through in Kentbury because of McKay and Bishop. Henrik is a hermit and lives in a cabin on the outskirts of Kentbury following a career-ending injury. He teaches skating lessons and is the hockey coach for the high school hockey team. Lou’s brother, Paul, who also lives in Kentbury suggested that Lou relocate to Kentbury to be closer to him and Mac, and get to know their grandmother, Genie. Lou decides to head to Kentbury from New York and packs up all her belongings. She meets Paul, Mac and Bishop at Kneady Kentbury Bakes, her grandmother’s bakery. Knightly’s B&B is closed for refurbishment, but she has agreed to allow Lou to stay there. The following morning, Lou wakes up to Henrik in the kitchen, after having too much to drink at The Maple Moose Tavern with his friends, Henrik also spent the night at the B & B. I love that Henrik calls her Lou Lou the nickname her family used to call her. After a heart-to-heart conversation over breakfast, Lou shares her secrets regarding her marriage and her custody battle with her ex-husband for her children. Henrik offers to help her with her custody battle as a favor to an old family friend. I love everything that Henrik wants to do to help Lou. I love the banter in the text stream between Lou and Henrik, and how they get to know one another through the text stream. I love how Lou refers to Henrik as a lumberjack and grump. Lou has been avoiding Henrik, so he shows up at the bakery where she works. I love how Genie convinces Lou and Henrik to plan the Love Festival together. As they spent time together planning the Love Festival and hanging out together things quickly change between them. I love that Henrik admits why he did not pursue a relationship with her in the past. I love that a plot twist has Lou returning to New York. I love everything that Henrik does to help Lou return to Kentbury. I love that they admit their feelings for one another in the text stream. I love all the changes that Lou makes in her life to have a life in Kentbury with Henrik and that her family helped her out with finding jobs. I love that Lou gives Henrik a flannel shirt when she returns to Kentbury. Another favorite part of a Claudia Burgoa love story is always the epilogues that go above and beyond the happily ever after, I loved Henrik’s proposal, the location and her children’s part in it. I love the characters in Love in Kentbury, they feel like family and friends. I love that Archie and Tilly call Genie, “Gigi” and that Tilly calls Henrik, “Beefoot.” I am looking forward to reading the other books in the series. I loved catching up with Paul, Mac, and Bishop. Who does not love a family that always have each other’s backs? I thoroughly enjoyed Love in Kentbury, who does not love a small-town second chance love story. Highly recommend this incredible love story and am so looking forward to reading the other books in the series. I received an advance copy from the author.
Lou's last hope is asking her brother for help after she's lost everything - her kids, her marriage, her money. So now she's here in his small town of Kentbury, meeting her previously unknown grandma, and trying to start over. When her brother's friend (and her teenage crush) Henrik appears, all those old feelings resurface. But she's not sure she's up for anything while she's trying to get herself together and get her kids back. Luckily for her, Henrik is patient and persistent, and completely willing to go at her pace, anything to keep her in his life.
After Henrik's hockey career ended with an injury, he didn't know what his life was going to consist of. Thank God his friend Paul intervened and brought him to Kentbury. He's still not entirely sure his life is exactly going the way it should, but things start looking up when the girl he always longed for moves to town. Now he's shedding his hermit reclusive reputation because he's smiling and looking positively happy. All because Lou's here and he's determined to have his chance now. If he has to move at a snail's pace while wooing her, so be it, as long as she knows he's not going anywhere.
Reading about falling in love in the small town of Kentbury is like a big hug with a smile thrown in. Henrik and Lou are absolutely adorable together as they finish falling in love. They finally reunited after crushing on each other all through their teens, and there was no way they wouldn't end up together. Their journey was a bit bumpy with her heart having been bruised by her awful ex, but Henrik became her sweet lumberjack rock. I'm not sure if there are more Kentbury tales coming, but I sure hope so because I can't remember the last time I enjoyed a small town more than this one.

Love in Kentbury Kentbury Tales, Book 3 By: Claudia Burgoa Narrated by: Mackenzie Cartwright, Grayson Owens
Claudia Burgoa pens another amazing romance novel set in her “Kentbury Tales” series and it is great to be back in Kentbury, a charming small town and one of my favorite places to visit and spend time in. The characters are realistic, relatable, easy to connect with and ones you could see yourself being friends with. Louanne’s life falls apart after leaving her husband, he took everything from her in divorce court, even their son and daughter. She is trying to rebuild her life and her brother suggests she does that in Kentbury, so having nothing to lose, she picks up and moves to Kentbury. They welcomed her open arms, but she was still worried her sister McKay would not be too happy about her moving there, but that worry was for naught. She stayed at the inn for her first night and got surprised by who she thought was in intruder in the morning, who turned out to be Henrik Tremblay, former pro hockey player and her brother's friend that she crushed on when she was younger. Henrik has a reputation to be a grump and a recluse, but it turns out he was neither, at least not to Lou. She avoided him at first, but good old Eugenia “Jeannie” had them work together and he could be quite the charmer, a caring and protective one. I thought these two were great together and for each other. Henrik had the resources to help battle her ex and made things right. This novella sized book packed a whole lot of story, a heartwarming one with the perfect balance of drama, heartwarming charm, heartfelt emotions and a sweet romance. Claudia Burgoa, thank you for another wonderful story and emotional rollercoaster ride.
🎧📚🎧 Mackenzie Cartwright and Grayson Owens are fantastic storytellers and they did an amazing job of bringing these characters to life, humanizing them, giving them their own voice and personality. Cartwright’s Lou was perfection, brought out all sides of her personality, from her vulnerabilities to building her strengths. Owens was spot on as Henrik, swoon worthy and not afraid to show his caring side. Both were fabulous performing the roles of the secondary characters, too. They set the perfect tone for the story, handled the witty dialogue naturally and landed the humor effortlessly. These two make a great team and their performance elevates the already amazing story to another level. Thank you for another fabulous listen.
I am so in love with the Kentbury Tales series, and I absolutely adored Henrik and Louanne's endearing friends-to-Lovers romance! In the last book, Paul and McKay broke away from their father's awful influence, and found a beautiful life in Kentbury, now it's Lou's turn. After her Husband took everything from her, including her children, she turns to Paul to help her get her life in order. She moves to Kentbury to work for Paul and McKay in their bakery. Paul's friend, Henrik, was a professional hockey player until he had a career ending injury. Now he is also in Kentbury trying to figure out his life as well. When Henrik and Paul hung out as teens, Henrik had a special bond with Lou as well. But their lives went in different directions, and Lou has always been his greatest regret. Now they are in the same town, and single, and the connection they shared is coming back to life. Henrik wants his second chance with Lou, but she is determined to focus on getting her life in order for her kids. Will this finally be their time, and can Henrik prove that he is the perfect partner for Lou and her kids? I loved Henrik and Lou together! They helped each other discover their true selves, become stronger, and realize they were worthy of each other. Henrik was a rugged, grumpy lumberjack, who was so sweet and thoughtful with a heart of gold. I loved Lou's growth into a confident woman, and her reconnection with family. I also loved the sweet family that she and Henrik were building together. Mackenzie Cartwright & Grayson Owens are terrific capturing each characters personality. Cartwright exudes Louanne's cautious and purposefulness, growing more confident into the thoughtful, loving woman she was always meant to be. This is my first listen to Owen's narration, and I absolutely loved his smooth, warm voice, and the passion he gives to his performance. He paired well with Cartwright adding depth and a fiery dynamic that made this story even more compelling. Love in Kentbury is a delightful, heartwarming romance. The writing is addictive, engaging, filled with smart banter, wonderful characters and loads of steamy chemistry! I was completely captivated from word one!
What a great friends to lovers romance Love in Kentbury is and truly a delight to read!! The book is also a second chance for two old friends, Louanne (Lou) McFolley and Henrik Tremblay to reconnect too. While Lou was the one who got away, Henrik was a secret crush of her brother, Paul’s BFF. Both Lou and Henrik are a bit broken from life events you will find yourself cheering them on as you read.
Louanne is down on her luck, alone and left with nothing. Her cheating husband divorced her and married his mistress. Taking from Lou everything that had belonged to her… a house that her dad had bought for her as well as custody of their children. At a loss as to what she was going to do she called her brother, Paul. Paul encouraged her to come to Kentbury and let him and her sister, Mac helps her to get reestablished. Not just that but get to know her grandmother and mend fences.
Then there is Henrik, Paul’s best friend. He’s come there to figure out what he wants to do with his life. He has been the Captain of his former pro hockey team the Boston Blizzards. When an injury ended his career early he moved to Kentbury while he was deciding what the future held for him. Henrik was mostly known as the grumpy, hermit, lumberjack by the towns folks.
When Lou made her choice to move to Kentbury both her brother and sister were excited. Paul was able to set her up there for a while in a B & B that was currently closed. So this was good for her, but unknown to her, Henrik was sleeping off a night of drinking in the same B & B in which she was staying. So to Lou’s startled surprise the next morning they met. Catching up with what has happened through the years Lou tells him about what has happened to her and losing her children Henrik was all in to help her get her children back.
Henrik and Lou are just adorable as they begin to navigate their feelings. Even after all the years that have passed it doesn’t take long for the chemistry to kick in. But will this reunion lead to something more?
This is book three in The Kentbury Tales series and it is Henrik and Louanne’s story and omg it is definitely a must read. Henrik used to be the captain of The Boston Blizzards Hockey Team and the best player in the league and then a serious knee injury devastated his career so now he hides away in Kentbury in his cabin living a quiet life but he is a totally different person to what he used to be especially as his girlfriend also left him after he lost his prestige. Louanne had what she thought was a good life until everything fell apart because her husband not only cheated on her but also divorced her and took her children away then moved another woman in to his life because of his lies and he left her with nothing but she is determined to somehow make a life for herself and get her children Archibald and Tilly back as she misses them so much as they are her world so now she had decided to move to Kentbury to be near her brother Paul and her sister McKay and hopefully be able to mend some of the fences between them that had been broken. Henrik is teaching people to skate and also coaching hockey which makes him feel close to the hockey that he loved but when he is told that Louanne has now moved to Kentbury he is so shocked but when he finds out what had happened to her he is determined to help and maybe get a second chance with her that he missed out on years ago. When Henrik and Louanne start working together the attraction and chemistry that they felt for each other years ago start to grow stronger than ever but unfortunately if Louanne is ever going to get the chance to get her children back she can’t be distracted so she tries hard to keep her distance from Henrik but sometimes things don’t work out as expected and love will conquer all and you get the happiness and future that you always wanted and deserved. This book certainly takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions and it was amazing to read and will have you turning the pages because you are unable to put it down because it is so addictive. I can’t wait to read more books in this amazing series.
Thank you at Wildfire Marketing and Claudia Y. Burgoa for this arc in exchange for my honest review!
A sweet read about reinventing/finding yourself and true love, and if you're lucky enough, you find them at the same time.
This was a quick, cute read. Perfect for Valentines Day coming up! I loved how Louanne was able to pick herself up and push forward to give her kids the best life possible, and realizing that she couldn't do that if she didn't take care of herself as well. She was willing to do whatever possible to get her kids back, even though she felt like she didn't have any skills or anything to offer. I'm so happy that she had great family members to help pick her up and support her to keep moving forward. I loved that her and Henrik were able to reconnect. Henrik is an absolute sweetheart! He loved Louanne since they were teenagers, and despite everything that happened, he was ready to jump in head first to help her with whatever she needed. He showed from the beginning how much he cared for Louanne, and was willing to take things at her pace. Their connection was so cute, and their little back and forth banter/teasing was great.
Unfortunately, I did feel like the story was lacking some of the "meat and potatoes." Even for a short novella, I felt like the pace was very slow and there wasn't any real action happening. I also feel like the plot progressed very quickly, jumping from friends, to Louanne avoiding Henrik for no explainable reason, to taking things slow, to hooking up all in the span of one to two chapters. I loved the premise, but I just wanted more from the story.
Overall, it was a short, easy read that I liked. Perfect for you if you like:

Love in Kentbury Kentbury Tales, Book 3 By: Claudia Burgoa Narrated by: Mackenzie Cartwright, Grayson Owens
Vermont is one of my favorite states to visit, so each time I get to go to Kentbury, it's like a treat for me! This book continues it's family reunion and I am in love with it! Meet Louanne. On the edge, she is trying to rebuild her life after her cheating husband divorced her and got custody of her kids. Her brother Paul suggested she come to Kentbury and start over near him and her sister McKay. Heinrich has been in Kentbury for about a year after a career ending injury took him off the ice. Hearing his old crush, Louanne is coming to town just perked him up a bit. But will he be able to rekindle the old feelings between the two? Will Lou be receptive to new love? Will Paul be okay if he falls for his sister? This warm and endearing story had me at the first chapter, and I listened straight through. It's all about close relationships, and knowing where you belong. Lou found her spot and her true soulmate who helped make her dreams come true. Plus her family is the best. Take me to her grandmother's bakery any day, and I would be happy too! Give this series a listen, your heart will be happy you did.
Grayson Owens and Mackenzie Cartwright are both talented narrators and when I saw they teamed up for this listen, I was thrilled. Owens plays the perfect Heinrich. He is a little grumpy at first, but when he sees Lou, Owens pulls out all the love and charm. Cartwright gives all the feels as Lou. She is scared and frustrated, but determined to make life better. Her voices bring out each emotion as the story goes and it's fantastic. These two are wonderful together.

I just love small town romance! Love in Kentbury is the third installment in the series, and while it may be third, it can be read as a standalone in the series. This story was so sweet and loving, it was like getting the best bear hug when you really need one.
Henrik and Louanne’s story is sweet like the first bite of chocolate after a really bad day. Henrik is a bit broken and lost after his hockey career with the Boston Blizzards takes a hit. He spends his time leading a much more mellow life than before, in his remote cabin, teaching others to ice skate. Louanne is a bit the same; her husband cheats on her, then puts her through a horrible divorce, takes her kids from her and leaves her with nothing. So she returns home in hope of mending some family fences and getting her life back, aka her kids.
When Henrik learns that Louanne has returned, and what happened with her children, he is all on board to help her, he just isn’t sure how to at first. Neither have seen each other for years, so when they start working together they don’t know what to think of the chemistry they are feeling. Louanne, however much into her feelings for Henrik, is scared to get too close and have the chance at getting her kids back, taken away. They both know that sometimes in life, things don’t go the way you think and love doesn’t always mean forever.
This book is all about feelings and I can’t believe how real it felt reading. Henrik and Louanne and the emotions they were experiencing, were so real. I give the author major great for her plot and storyline, this book was amazing.
This is the third book in the Kentbury Tales series and gives readers Henrik and Louanne’s story. Coming to grips with a life change is not an easy feat when you thought your life was going in one direction and then it throws you for a loop. Hendrik had it all as the captain of an NHL hockey team when an accident took away the career he loved and worked hard to achieve. Losing everything had him moving to Kentbury and start again. Hendrik is not the only one dealing with some life upheavals. Louanne, Mckay’s sister who readers met in the previous book, is dealing with an acrimonious divorce where her ex left her penniless and took her children away. What is she to do? Gather what belongings she has and move to Kentbury to be closer to family and rebuild those ties while staying with her brother Paul. From the beginning you cannot help but fall for these characters as their issues feel like real life, especially with the author’s inclusion of modern-day media references that bring a smile or elicit a chuckle. It is a heartwarming storyline with plenty of banter, steamy chemistry and all the good feelings that a second chance romance brings. I recommend this series.
Love in Kentbury is the 3rd book in the Kentbury Tales. This is Henrik and Lou's story. This can be read as a standalone, but the other books should be read too get to know the characters and the town. Kentbury is a small town where everyone knows everyone, a place to go to to find yourself and hit reboot, and a place that could make your dreams come true. This book was a second chance, brother best friend romance. I don't want to give to many details away so I will keep it brief. Henrik was a hockey player and an injury cost him his career. He ended up in Kentbury to rediscover himself but he is also kind of grumpy because of what happened. Lou's arranged marriage ended in a nasty divorce leaving her with practically nothing, especially not being with her children. She came to Kentbury to be with family and to rediscover herself. These two finally see each other after all the years and the chemistry between Henrik and Lou was undeniable! This was a short and sweet love story that I absolutely enjoyed reading and I know you will to. I highly recommend taking the journey through Kentbury by reading the Kenbury Tales, you will not be disappointed!
I received a free ARC copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I received a complimentary early release e-book prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is book 3 in the series but it also easily stands alone. It stars characters from the second book in the series, Fall in Kentbury.
In that book we met Mckay who comes to Kentbury to meet her grandma and decides to stay. She brings her brother, Paul to town too, but has issues with her sister Lou. This book brings back Lou and we see what has happened to her. She is a mom of two, who has lost everything, her home, her marriage, her job and her kids. Desperate she asks her brother for help, and he brings her to Kentbury. It also brings her in contact with Henrik, her brothers' best friend who she has crushed on in her youth, who also came to town when he lost his hockey career.
This was a wonderful second chance story and not just a second chance romance but also a second chance in life and I loved that message in this story. Lou finds herself in Kentbury but she also finds her people. This was a wonderful, romantic story that made me laugh, giggle and sigh and want a Hendrik, and Paul for myself.
This romantic novella has the characters, feelings and story development of a full book. It can be read as a standalone (although it does enhance the story if a reader has read earlier books). Hendrik is a former hockey player, and the son of a wealthy family. He’s been long-time friends with Louanne’s brother, who encourages Hendrik to move to the small town of Kentbury after he’s forced to prematurely retire from hockey by an injury. Louanne also finds herself in Kentbury. She has been through a horrible divorce, and is now hoping to repair her sibling relationships, rebuild her life and eventually regain custody of her children. Louanne and Hendrik had teenage crushes on each other years’ ago, so meeting up again in a small town in Vermont is a surprise for both of them. I loved their dual points of view and their banter as their relationship develops. The author successfully delivers character development, a romantic MMC, a few little plot twists, some heat and a swoony HEA in a novella! Recommended. I received an advance copy for free and am leaving this review voluntarily.
**Audio Review** Happy sigh….Love in Kentbury by Claudia Burgoa was a sweet, swoony, small-town romance novella that made my heart flutter. Lou and Henrik’s journey to HEA had a few obstacles to overcome, like an overprotective big brother, but when they finally took their second chance on love, my heart melted.
Mackenzie Cartwright and Grayson Owens performed this novella in dual narration, and I loved these two paired together. Mackenzie’s performance captured Lou’s vulnerabilities and desires perfectly making you empathize and long for her to find happiness with Henrik. Grayson’s warm soothing tone made Henrik’s grumpy persona loveable and irresistible all at the same time. The text exchanges performed in duet-style narration were the icing on the cake!
Overall, I enjoyed this book! If you are a fan of a small-town romance with a broody former hockey player, a single mother looking to start fresh, a love festival, second chances, dedicated brothers, snowy Hallmark movie vibes with slow-burn spice, and a HEA that will warm your heart, then you will love Lou and Henrik’s romance. I always look forward to more from Claudia Burgoa.
Louanne (“Lou”), McKay’s sister is newly divorced, heads to Kentbury to put her life back together so she can get custody of her kids. While there, she reconnects with Henrik, her brother Paul’s friend. They knew each other as teens and had a connection then which still exists now. Henrik was up front with Lou about how he felt early on but Lou had to work through some scars from her marriage before she committed. I love seeing each of the McFolly siblings meet and grow to love the grandmother, their father kept from them. This was an enjoyable angst free romance. I like the high angst books that Claudia Burgoa writes but it is nice to have these lighter romances from time to time as a pallet cleanser. This is a shorter book, however, the new characters we were introduced to were fully developed and there were plenty of recurring characters and cameos (Hunter Everhart) that added depth. I received a free copy of this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Now this was such a cute and beautiful read. Henrik is still struggling to come to terms that being a hockey player is not in the cards for him. He moved to Kentbury to try and find his new meaning. And when his first love comes to town, he knows life gave him what he need the most and that his Lou-Lou.
Lou's life imploded when he husband divorced her and took her kids. She's left with (almost) nothing and when her brother suggests that she comes to Kentbury to regroup, she doesn't expect that her life is about to change once again only this time for the best. Spending time with her childhood crush and learning that he's loved her since they were teens, brings her peace and strength to fight both for their love and her kids.
I must say that the ending for this book is probably one of my favorites by Claudia Burgoa so far. The whole story was sweet and left me with a big smile on my face.

*4 stars* This was a short read in the Kentbury series but I really enjoyed it from beginning until end. It always feels like a new adventure when reading a story but I love it when it's a book that you seemingly fly through as I enjoyed the characters. I wanted the book a bit longer and some scenes to be prolonged but I loved the chemistry between Henrik & Louanne. A great read!
Louanne has hit rock bottom and doesn't have any other choice than to try seek help from her brother as he seems to be the only one willing to help her. When moving to Kentbury, she hopes she can find a way to make sure she gets back. After all she's been through, she just hopes that there's a way to gain custody of her kids. While picking up the pieces, she and Henrik meet again after not seeing each other for years and it seems there are still some underlying feelings between them. As they grow closer, Henrik also tries to help her the best he can. Will they find love with one another?... And will everything work out in the end?...
Loving these small-town romance reads that take place in Kentbury. Just love the vibe of that town nothing but good vibes filled with friendships and love.
The characters of these stories are warm and welcoming. We already had a soft spot for Henrick and we are happy that someone made the grump smile but, the grump didn't turn us off we already knew he was a big softie with a big heart.
Lou & Henrick had a bit of history and even had crushes on one another but, it wasn't meant to be but, seeing Lou again has engaged Henrick's restless heart once again.
Cute story about starting over and finding oneself once again. Forgiveness and pain were a big part of this story also making it an emotional tale. Our hearts went out to Lou for all she endured glad family and friends were there in her time of need. Henrick is such a sweetheart of a guy he made it easy to fall in love with his character. Kentbury is all about new beginnings that are filled with wonderful characters. We enjoyed it.
Louanne has lost it all. Her husband, her kids, and her home when a business deal failed. Her ex-husband had some strange interactions during the divorce and arraigned to take everything from her. She had been estranged from a brother and sister, but her brother came to the the rescue and had her come to his small town in Vermont to recover and regain her footing.
He had done the same for his best friend, Henrick. Henrick had been a hockey star until an injury sidelined him. He has been in Kentbury for a while, rebuilding his life. He and Louanne had crushes on each other in the past and although she was man-shy after being burned by her ex-husband, they rekindled their crushes into so much more.
This is a quick reading, sexy novel that emphasizes the positives of small town living - and some of the drawbacks. When friends and family pull together, wonderful things can happen. The book was so much fun to read, I zipped right through it.
So first things first, I looked at the cover this book and I said ok I’ll jump in to yet another cute romance and then I read the prologue, and I was like hmm wrong let me take a beat and prepare myself lol.
This a Novella and I really wish it wasn’t.. from the very first page I was hooked! It was a romance but it almost touched on some hard topics like depression, divorce and child alienation.
Lou Anne was almost at her rock bottom, divorce, almost broke and worse of all her ex husband had taken her kids away from her. Missing and really needing her family she reaches out to her brother Paul who invites her to move to Kentbury and get her life back on track..
Meanwhile Henrik who is an ex hockey player is also in kentbury trying to figure out his life after hockey and who also just happens to be Lou’s childhood crush.
I loved how fast pace this story was, you didn’t have time to really think about anything because it was all happening so fast.
My favorite thing are the banter and text message between Lou and Henrik.
Henrik helping Lou with her custody issues and being patient while she healed and learned to trust again was so heartwarming!
The author wanted this to be a pallet cleanser and it’s a really great one! And I for one can’t wait to see what’s next.
The next installment of this cute series is fast paced, easy to read and a bit like a warm hug on a cold snowy day.
Lou's life has imploded. Her husband divorced her, got custody of her children and left her virtually penniless after a business deal went wrong and she was no longer needed. Her father and sister disowned her, but thankfully, one of her brothers took her in to help her rebuild her life. Lou moves to Kentbury to meet the grandmother she never knew and to help out in her bakery. This is where Lou reconnects with her teenage crush, Henrik Tremblay, a ex NHL player, who broke her heart. Finding the chemistry very much still in place, Henrik is determined that he is going to win Lou back. But knowing how badly she's been hurt, he knows that he has to tread softly and get Lou to trust him and his intentions, all the while helping her get her children and her life back!
Well written, with interesting characters, a fun read!
