Her Princess: A Victorian Lesbian Romance

Rate this book
Princess Valentina doesn't intend to marry. She has no use for, or want of, a husband. When her father tries to force the issue she takes matters into her own hands and leaves the small Mediterranean country that her father rules. She goes to the only woman who she knows will help her; the dowager Duchess of Surrey.

Harriet is settling into her new life at the progressive Duchess of Surrey School for Girls but when the spoilt Princess Valentina arrives, her whole world is turned upside down. There's something about the other woman that captivates and infuriates her, all at the same time.

When Valentina starts to make life difficult for everyone, Harriet knows that she needs to take control of the situation and put the princess in her place.

Her Princess is a Victorian Romance. It book contains graphic sexual scenes that include D/s, discipline, spanking and other kinky things.

4 stars. Much better than book one. I really enjoyed this one. Valentina is a brat with a capitol B but she's also a Princess so that makes sense. Harriet is patient with her (to an extent) but definitely knows how to put Valentina in her place. I loved the slight D/s elements in this and actually wish it would've leaned more into that. It was really good and felt natural for the characters. It was definitely something that they both needed.

I liked their romance a lot and how it was a bit of a slower burn as they really had to warm up to each other but the chemistry and sexual tension was there from the start. Both characters were likable (yes even Valentina with all of her spoiled bratty ways) and I enjoyed their development and growth over time. There was the right amount of drama and some great spice. I really liked the ending as well. Great read.

I read this for the I Heart Sapphic 2025 Reading Challenge for the prompt Historical Fiction.

Now I greatly enjoyed the previous book, Her Dutchess, and was hopeful that I’d like it at least that much. I didn’t expect to enjoy this even more.

Quick Thoughts:
- I love reading books with flawed characters who are genuinely good people like Valentina. They drive their love interest bananas and I love watching that
- Harriet is a fun character to watch grow and discover new things about herself
- There are two spanking scenes and wow, they are hot
- We actually get a couple of chapters from Peggy’s POV and I was delightfully surprised by that
- Also, you go Peggy! Put that SOB in his place. I did enjoy watching Christopher back his mother up and then put that guy in his place
- I’m still greatly annoyed at Christopher though. Not enough to wish him harm but enough to wish him random inconveniences
- I’m also still annoyed at Valentina’s father. Not only did he go against his late wife’s wishes but he also caused his daughter a traumatic amount of stress
- My heart broke for Harriet even though we, the readers, knew it was all a miscommunication
- The ending was wonderful and perfect for these two lovely ladies

Overall I loved this book and will absolutely read the last book in this series. I sincerely hope Brooke Winters writes more stories because I will gleefully read them.
