Pustila je študij prava, tavala od ene brezsmiselne službe do druge in životarila, namesto da bi zares živela. Nato pa pride na Gansett, prevzame službo svetilničarke ter spozna Slima, ki mu je po naključju ime tako kot njenemu ljubljenemu bratu dvojčku. Ta malenkost jo prepriča, da mora s čudovitim pilotom preživeti več skupnega časa – problem je le v tem, da on zimo preživlja tisoč kilometrov stran.

Das war wieder ein richtiges Wohlfühlbuch aus der Gansett Island Reihe :)
Besonders die Rückblenden in die Vergangenheit zum Kennenlernen von BigMac und Linda haben mir gut gefallen. Ansonsten kommen auch wieder alle lieb gewonnen Charaktere vor, da die Feiertage und eine Hochzeit anstehen.
Ein bisschen Drama gab es auch wieder, aber immer in einem erträglichen Umfang, sodass es weiterhin ein Buch zum wohlfühlen und heimkommen bleibt.
Ich glaube dass mir diese 14. Band bisher von denen die ich gelesen habe sogar am besten gefallen hat, da ich langsam anfange durchzublicken wer wer ist in dieser riesigen Familie :D Das ist hier manchmal gar nicht so einfach den Überblick zu behalten, vor allem wer dann zu wem gehört und ob die schon verheiratet sind oder Kinder haben etc. :D
Als Fazit kann man sagen, dass man die Bücher trotz allem recht unabhängig voneinander lesen kann und für mich sind sie immer genau das richtige für zwischendurch :)

I really enjoyed Mac and Linda's 40th wedding anniversary! Loved that the author went back 40 years to give readers part of the story as it played out first-hand. And I must say that Mac was really something way back then - and he still is! Having the story play out in past/present worked well in this case. This book also catches readers up on all the couples in this series which is always great. A Must Read in the series!

Eine nette Kurzgeschichte, die mir das Kennenlernen von Mac und Linda nähergebracht hat. War gut zu lesen und es gab wieder viele neue Entwicklungen in der McCarthy Familie.

Wir ja bereits mittlerweile beim 14. Band der Gansett Island – Reihe der Autorin angelangt und es ist immer wieder eine Freude, wenn man auf alte Bekannte trifft.
So auch dieses Mal und zwar haben Mac und seine Frau ihren vierzigsten Hochzeitstag und es ist eine große Feier geplant. Da man ja bereits weiß, dass diese beiden eine große Familie haben, geht es so natürlich rund.
Die Handlung hat mir auch in diesem Buch wieder gut gefallen. Ich fand es wieder wunderbar unterhaltsam und ich fand es auch richtig interessant, mehr über die beiden zu erfahren, denn die Autorin hat in diesem Buch zwei Zeitebenen eingebaut und man bekommt als Leser einen tollen Einblick in die Vergangenheit. Auch wird es spannend, denn die Hochzeit von Adam und Abby ist geplant und hier muss auch noch so einiges organisiert werden. Leider scheint das Wetter der Familie einen Strich durch die Rechnung zu machen. Bei diesen Abschnitten habe ich regelrecht mitgelitten, denn ich fand es so emotional, ob es denn funktionieren wird oder nicht.
Was mich auch in diesem Buch wieder begeistert hat, war einfach dieser Zusammenhalt in der Familie. Ich finde es so schön, wie diese Dinge immer wieder von der Autorin eingebaut werden. Es gibt ja leider nicht mehr oft Bücher, mit diesen Werten. Sehr schön.
Die Charaktere waren wieder sehr schön beschrieben. Alle wirkten auf mich authentisch und ich fand die auch wieder richtig sympathisch. Es gab ein paar kleine Stellen an denen es vielleicht etwas unübersichtlich wurde, denn dieses Mal ist ja die komplette Familie im Einsatz, aber es war dennoch schön zu lesen.
Die Schreibweise war wieder sehr flüssig und locker. Die Geschichte lässt sich sehr flott lesen und die Handlung war wieder sehr gut verständlich. Das Setting auf der Insel kommt auch wieder sehr gut raus.
Das Cover gefällt mir richtig gut.

Excellent story that gives us a nice look back at Big Mac and Linda's love story as they celebrate 40 years together as well as giving an update on several of our favorite couples. Lots happening on Gansett! Recommended read.

This novella contained the origin story for the couple who spawned the whole McCarthy clan, as well as a catch up of everyone in the family. It was quick, to the point, and not filled with the ridiculous fluff the books have now. And I ate it up! (But just to be clear, I’m rather fond of the ridiculous Gansett Island fluff… 😬)

I love this book. I love this series. And Mac and Linda are the foundation of this entire thing. It's great to read their story and know how things started. Their love for one another is an amazing thing, an amazing gift, and an amazing an example for their children and later will be an amazing example for their grandchildren.
It's a nice uplifting book. It shows that family stick together, support one another, love one another, fight for one another for the things that matter to them. So in this book we see Adam and Abby having to deal with a health crisis. There are new relationships forming and friendships are getting stronger. We also see this but the celebration of 40 years of marriage between Mac and Linda is the reason for this book. There's a couple of shockers but I'm not going to tell you about them. The celebration that we are reading about in this book isn't just a celebration of Mac and Linda but it's a celebration of the family that they've created and how those children have chosen the perfect ones for them. It's a celebration of coming together and spending time with one another and also knowing what each other each person so that you can tell when something is wrong or something is extra right. It is a celebration of knowing that you can always come home even if you might leave for a while. Mac and Linda reflect on their lives and how they met. The first day, how they were married, how they had their first child. They share those moments with their children or their children share those moments with them and it's an amazing book to read and it us just is uplifting.
This book is a great read it's a quick read. And it is a continuation in this series of Gansett Island that just makes you want to go and visit and meet them and have a big party with them and get to know them so these books that Marie force writes are just wonderful. I enjoy every one of them. It is a five star book for me and I cannot wait to read the next one. I also cannot wait to go back and read the one that I missed.

I loved, loved, loved this story.
It was really great to read about Big Mac and Linda now and when they first met. The early days of the Marina, Joann, not to mention Ned and Linda's impressions of Gansett Island for the first time.
And on top of all that (if that wasn't awesome enough!) There was the chance to catch up with Mac and Maddie, Grace and Evan, Adam and Abby, Janey and Joe and Grant and Stephanie. Which threw up plenty of surprises that made the whole story that much more enjoyable.
And for me this is definitely a MUST read for anyone who is a fan of the series, and especially the McCarthy's as you really won't be disappointed and now I really can't wait to get my hands on Slim and Erin's story when it is released next year.

How do I get the McCarthys to adopt me. I want Linda and Mac as my parents. I want to know what it is like to get along with my siblings, to have the respect of others. Celebration After Dark is the celebration of 40 years of marriage. But it is so much more. Have you wondered about Linda and Mac were like in the beginning? Have you wondered how their children deal with challenges? Have you wanted to know what might happen next on the Island? There is so much packed into Celebration After Dark that I will be celebrating for days.

Loved love loved it !!! going back to Gansett Island is always great fun within the first few pages the island comes straight to mind and the marina with all the houses around it with the famous gang.
I suggest you read all the other books before reading this one so you get the real feel of linda's and big mac story.

I was looking forward to it because it was part of the The McCarthys of Gansett Island series, and yes it was a chance to catch up with the characters featured in earlier books, but the jumping around from the different characters annoyed me a little bit. Having said that, it was an enjoyable read to while away the time over a couple of days.

A shortie but goodie with the couple that started it all. It's good to find out where these two are coming from and see where they are in their journey now. This is a lovely book about a romance that started long ago and just keeps getting better. Start with 1 to really get the most from this series, but keep reading, because they are all winners.

4 von 5 Sterne. Toller vierzehnter Teil. Es war wieder ein Genuss und ich bin immer noch begeistert. Sehr schön. Ich würde aber empfehlen, dass man vielleicht schon ein paar der Vorgänger gelesen hat, damit man sich besser auskennt.
So auch dieses Mal und zwar haben Mac und seine Frau ihren vierzigsten Hochzeitstag und es ist eine große Feier geplant. Da man ja bereits weiß, dass diese beiden eine große Familie haben, geht es so natürlich rund.
Die Handlung hat mir auch in diesem Buch wieder gut gefallen. Ich fand es wieder wunderbar unterhaltsam und ich fand es auch richtig interessant, mehr über die beiden zu erfahren, denn die Autorin hat in diesem Buch zwei Zeitebenen eingebaut und man bekommt als Leser einen tollen Einblick in die Vergangenheit. Auch wird es spannend, denn die Hochzeit von Adam und Abby ist geplant und hier muss auch noch so einiges organisiert werden. Leider scheint das Wetter der Familie einen Strich durch die Rechnung zu machen. Bei diesen Abschnitten habe ich regelrecht mitgelitten, denn ich fand es so emotional, ob es denn funktionieren wird oder nicht.
Was mich auch in diesem Buch wieder begeistert hat, war einfach dieser Zusammenhalt in der Familie. Ich finde es so schön, wie diese Dinge immer wieder von der Autorin eingebaut werden. Es gibt ja leider nicht mehr oft Bücher, mit diesen Werten. Sehr schön.
Die Charaktere waren wieder sehr schön beschrieben. Alle wirkten auf mich authentisch und ich fand die auch wieder richtig sympathisch. Es gab ein paar kleine Stellen an denen es vielleicht etwas unübersichtlich wurde, denn dieses Mal ist ja die komplette Familie im Einsatz, aber es war dennoch schön zu lesen.
Die Schreibweise war wieder sehr flüssig und locker. Die Geschichte lässt sich sehr flott lesen und die Handlung war wieder sehr gut verständlich. Das Setting auf der Insel kommt auch wieder sehr gut raus.
Das Cover gefällt mir richtig gut.

Es ist der 40. Hochzeitstag von Mac und Linda McCarthy. Ihre fünf Kinder haben eine Überraschungs-Hochzeitstags-Party organisiert von der Linda und ihr Mann natürlich "offiziell" nichts ahnen.
Bevor die große Party steigt und der Tag zu seinem Höhepunkt findet, erinnern Mac und Linda sich an ihr Kennenlernen.
Sie waren 20 Jahre alt und es war Liebe auf den ersten Blick. Damals kaufte Mac die Marina auf Gansett Islands und das gemeinsame, glückliche Leben der Beiden begann.
"Festtage auf Gansett Island" startet kurz vor den Weihnachtsfeiertagen.
Neben den Geschehnissen am Hochzeitstag, gibt es in diesem Buch viele Rückblenden in die Vergangenheit. Es wird quasi die Lebens- oder besser der Beginn der Liebesgeschichte von Mac und Linda erzählt. Immer wieder schwelgen die Beiden in Erinnerungen und der Leser erfährt von den Anfängen auf Gansett Islands.
Auch einer ihrer Söhne samt seiner neuen Partnerin findet in diesem Teil mit seiner Geschichte Raum.
Die Gefühle der Protagonisten waren nachvollziehbar und die Story ziemlich interessant. Gerade die Probleme des Sohns machten das Ganze spannend.
Diesen 14. Teil der Gansett Reihe habe ich als Hörbuch gehört. Mit knapp 6 Hörstunden war es ein eher kürzeres Hörvergnügen. Sehr aufschlussreich war es von den Anfängen auf der Insel zu erfahren, auf der es damals vermutlich noch ziemlich einsam war. Auch das mehrere Handlungen parallel erzählt wurden fand ich sehr ansprechend.
Insgesamt sind wieder viele Namen gefallen, deren Zuordnung mir noch relativ schwer fällt. Allerdings habe ich auch schon ein paar "alte Bekannte" ausfindig machen können.
Wenn man sich für Reihen interessiert und erleben möchte wie viele Figuren sich weiter entwickeln, ist man bei der Gansett-Reihe genau richtig. Man kann die Bände natürlich einzeln lesen, ein richtiges Vergnügen wird es jedoch dann wenn man der Reihenfolge nach liest oder hört.

WOW! What a truly amazing story! I loved reading about Big Mac and Linda, aka Voodoo Mama and how they met and fell in love. Big Mac is such and outstanding father to his kids. I love how emotional he can be around them. It was great to see how once he saw Linda he was determined to have a future with her. He was so focused on his goal, and so honest about what he felt. He came on so strong at first but because we've loved Big Mac from the very start it's easy to understand his actions. He definitely loves with his all his heart. It was nice to see what Linda was like when see was younger. In Maid For Love she didn't really come across as a very nice person. Over the years we've come to see just how much she loves Big Mac and her kids. I love how she welcomed Mallory into the family and how she continually encourages her involvement in everything the family does. I like that she sees which of her kids needs her by just observing them. She definitely lives up to her name of Voodoo Mama.
Celebration After Dark was truly a wonderful book to read. I loved catching up with the all of the McCarthy family members. I can't wait to see what happens next. We definitely have some things to look forward to in the next book. Im sure we will all love reading about Slim and Erin. I'm looking forward to Evan and Grace' s getaway wedding. I'm also anxious to see how Mac and Maddie as well as Joe and Janey manage their changing lives. I loved this book. As I was reading it I was enjoying it so much I didn't want it to end! Kurz vor Weihnachten, genauer gesagt am 20. Dezember, steht für Linda und Big Mac McCarthy ein ganz besonderes Jubiläum an, sie feiern ihren 40. Hochzeitstag. Anlässlich dieses Tages werden beide ganz sentimental und unternehmen gemeinsam eine gedankliche Reise in die Vergangenheit...
Fazit: "Festtage auf Gansett Island" ist eine wundervolle Kurzgeschichte, in der der Leser nicht nur erfährt wie alles begann, sondern auch, wie man auf der Insel richtig feiert. Außerdem lässt die Autorin durchblicken, was die Zukunft für die liebgewonnenen Charaktere bereithält.
Besonders gut gefallen haben mir die Rückblicke in Lindas und Macs Vergangenheit, wie das erste Aufeinandertreffen etc.. Marie Force hat diese Rückblenden mit sehr viel Liebe zum Detail ausgearbeitet, denn man erkennt in dem jungen Paar eindeutig Charakterzüge ihrer späteren Kinder wieder, was ich sehr charmant und liebenswert fand. Trotz der geringen Seitenzahl, kann ich, allen Fans der Reihe, die Kurzgeschichte nur ans Herz legen. Für mich wiedermal ein wahres Lesevergnügen.

A short story yes, but still a gem and well worth the time to read. I loved how MF told the older couple's story with Mac and Linda waking up on their anniversary and having flashbacks that was mixed in really well with some short updates on the rest of the clan. I loved how Mac and Linda met and how he felt she was the one right from the start, she also felt some sort of connection too but they gave themselves time to get to know each other and see how things went before declaring love etc.
A great installment to the Gansett Island stories and one you definitely shouldn't miss if you have been following the series!

I enjoyed this book but as I haven’t read the other books in this series, I found it confusing. It dips in and out of other characters and their lives. Which I can imagine would be great if you knew who they all were, and already knew their stories. But for me it was too many different characters to try to keep track of who they were and how they were related to the main characters.
The story is set around Big Mac and Linda’s 40th wedding anniversary. Their 5 children have planned a surprise party for them and the story starts with them reminiscing how they first met all those years ago. The story then dips in and out of the lives of all 5 children and what is currently happening with their lives as they all make their way to the surprise party.

We finally get a Big Mac & Linda story and i loved it. We get to see how they met and the beginning of them, we can totally see where Mac gets it all from now!!! We also get a loved scene between Big Mac, Linda and Luke which i love and how much they love him like a son. We get to catch up with all the kids and see whats going on which was perfect and even i got choked up & laughed so much at the party when Mac was giving his speech like i was there. We also get the start of the Abby & Adam story line which touchs my heart and Marie wrote this so well to convey the emotions that this entails. Thanks Marie

Reading a Gansett Island book by Marie Force is like wrapping yourself up in your favorite, soft blanket. Love!
While this book was shorter than the others in the series, it focused on Big Mac and Linda. Force provided readers a deeper glimpse into their 40 year marriage and how they met and fell in love. There were, of course, ups and downs and HEA for some of our favorite couples on Gansett Island. These books are very enjoyable and I look forward to picking up with Slim and Erin!
