Morda res ni prav zelo vznemirljivo, a to ji čisto ustreza.

3.5 rounded up to 4 (just because I am feeling generous)
I wanted to read this book because it featured an older couple on the cover and since I’m old I figured what the heck! LOL
It was an okay read. Nothing bad or negative about it, it was sort of normal. There really wasn’t any drama to speak of & to be honest I would have thought the whole “Housekeeper” thing would have been a much bigger deal. I’m not the jealous type at all BUT even I would have had trouble with that scenario.
It was a sweet book and Patrick was perfect! If Patrick were real I would be all over that being that he is my age!
Lovely Mary Larkin, the hardworking and devoted office manager for the Abbott family’s Green Mountain Country Store has finally found her prince charming – Patrick Murphy, Cameron’s dad. The ultra-rich and powerful business magnate’s heart has been stolen by the small town girl as well. A widower for years after having lost his wife during childbirth, Patrick raised Cameron as a single father. He’s made some mistakes along the way. His affairs aren’t something he’s proud to acknowledge. He’s a lonely man. The romance between Mary and Patrick is simply magical. Patrick certainly knows how to court a girl, make her blush and give her the world on a silver platter. And my oh my, sweet Mary simply bursts out of her shell. I loved seeing her find love and watching her come alive under Patrick’s touch.
Yes, it’s a gem – from start to finish. There are a few details that might get in the way of a happy ever after for these two, but it's fun to watch as they plot a possible future. I totally was caught up in this love connection between two mature adults. Marie Force wrote them a perfect match in a heart-throbbing romance. It’s one you won’t want to miss.
5 Star Review of Can't Buy Me Love (Butler Vermont #2) by Marie Force
I have been waiting not so patiently for Mary Larkin and Patrick Murphy's story and all I can say is it was so worth the wait.
Mary and Patrick met when he visited town for his daughter Cameron's wedding.
Mary, the office manager at the Abbott's Green Mountain Country Store is intrigued by the obscenely rich, suave and debonair Patrick; whilst he is just as interested.
Patrick despite being warned off by Cameron, engages in a mild flirtation with Mary, which quickly escalates. Will Cameron approve of their fledgling relationship?
Their worlds are poles apart, not to mention they live 6 hours apart. Mary loves her life in Butler, whilst Patrick spends his time jetting around the world or in high powered business meetings. Can their relationship survive the distance or the differences?
I read this book in one sitting, I was so entranced and riveted to the story. Marie Force. I love that the Abbotts pop in throughout the book and as always it was great to catch up with them. To be perfectly honest, I would love to be adopted by this family.
It is an extremely well written sweet, sexy and romantic book and I have to say a refreshing change to read about a couple who are older.
Marie Force's characters are often slightly flawed, yet so realistic and relatable that you cannot help but be drawn in. Can't Buy Me Love shows us that you are never to old to find love.
This is one of my most favourite series and one I highly recommend. I cannot wait for more....
CAN'T BUY ME LOVE is the second book in the Butler, Vermont series. Mary Larkin is the office manager at the Abbott's family Green Mountain Country Store and she has been a part of the Abbott family for many many years. She has been seeing Cameron's dad, Patrick, on the down low for a short time, but he wants to take it public and let everyone know. Mary has her doubts because she is an office worker and Patrick is a very very rich and powerful man. Mary isn't sure if his feelings for her are for real as he could have any woman in the world. Mary sees herself as someone totally out of his league, but she sure feels the sparks that fly between them when they are together.
Mary lives in Vermont and Patrick in New York City so when Patrick starts to pursue her more aggressively, Mary is torn. She isn't sure she is ready to give up her friends, her job, her life, for a man? Patrick tries to convince Mary that his feelings for her are real and that he is in it for the long haul. He also has to let Cameron know how he feels about Mary, but at the same time he is worried sick about her. Cameron is pregnant and her grandmother as well as her mother both died in childbirth and Patrick knows he waited too long to let Cameron know about it.
It's always great to revisit all my old friends in Green Mountain, and CAN'T BUY ME LOVE is the perfect way to spend the afternoon. You will get wonderful updates on all the residents and the Abbott family. It was nice to see the whole Abbott family rally around Mary and Patrick and give them the support they needed. While they want Marie to be happy, they constantly warn her to be careful but to trust her heart.
CAN'T BUY ME LOVE will have you laughing and crying at the same time. I was cheering for Mary and Patrick to get it all together and finally be happy. How does Marie Force keep making me fall in love with this family over and over again? It's her perfect writing and descriptions that pull at your heart and never let you go. I absolutely love this Butler, Vermont series. She has a way of pulling you right in from the very first page and never letting you go until the very end. She grabs your heart and makes you fall in love with all of her characters. The Abbott siblings along with a constantly trouble stirring dad and grandfather, make this a series worth reading. I always feel like I'm visiting with of friends while reading these wonderful stories.
My major draw to any author is an ability I like to call author's intuition. All authors have it. Some are better at it than others, but knowing what appeals to readers is an absolute MUST. Whether tempting with subtlety, seducing with heat or teetering on the edge of danger, Marie Force knows how to get inside a readers head and appeal to their deepest emotions. Buried within every story she creates and each character she writes are the fears we struggle with, the values that we've come to love and the hope for our own happily ever after. The faces may be different, but the inner core of the human spirit is wrapped up inside with precious care and heartwarming optimism. Can't Buy Me Love proves that love does not have an age limit and happiness never dies but dreams really can come true.
I have been meaning to finish this series and I finally took the leap. I really enjoyed the first book, and I love older characters so this book wasn’t a shock because of their age.
I really enjoyed the falling part of love with these two. It was sweet and I wanted them to have their HEA seems to me they both waited long enough for it.
Also the fact that Fred the Moose made an appearance well it was perfection.
I really enjoy Joan Delaware’s voice so more please!
I was lucky enough to get an ARC of this story and I'm so glad I did! I enjoy all of Marie Force's novels and this one did not disappoint. I loved getting to know Mary and Patrick, Cameron's dad, more in this story. As a couple they fit seamlessly and perfectly. This story is full of humor, love, and the characters we all fell in love with (including Fred). I encourage everyone to read this story! It's a story that shows you that it's never too late to find that special someone and when you do things will work themselves out. Thank you, once again, Mrs. Force for providing us with an amazing story.
4,5/5⭐️ Kein unnötiges Drama und reife Protagonisten waren so erfrischend! Mary und Patrick haben es mir so einfach gemacht mich in die Geschichte fallen zu lassen. Ich bin süchtig nach der Reihe🤍
I enjoy books featuring older couples, but it defeats the purpose when the heroine Mary is as insecure as a 13 year old girl. She had absolutely no basis for her fears and that was what frustrated me with this. Patrick did nothing wrong, he's perfect ( boring) . This was a snooze fest. This was a struggle to get through but I persevered as I didn't want to miss anything that may have been relevant to Will's book which is next. (There wasn't) 2 stars.
Can’t buy me love is one book I’ve been waiting for and I can tell you I absolutely loved it….. I literally devoured the book within a couple of hours…. It was that good…… This book follows the story of Mary Larkin, who works as the office manager at the Green Mountain Country Store and Patrick Murphy, who is Cameron’s dad. He comes into the store to visit Cameron, in You’ll be Mine and sparks instantly fly. Mary and Patrick are so opposite……. Mary loves her quiet peaceful life in Butler, she works at the store, she looks after older town residents taking them to Church, she works in the soup kitchen. She’s had one major relationship in her life, where she thought she would marry the guy, but that didn’t happen. Patrick, who is Cameron’s Dad is a very successful sexy billionaire businessman. He lives in New York…. His wife, who was the love of his life died during child birth with Cameron and left Patrick to bring up their daughter on his own. He was so lost and had nanny’s help….. he fly’s around the country in his helicopter…… Mary get’s to spend some time with Patrick his daughters wedding. Patrick asks her to dance and it goes from there. They are both smitten with each other. They spend time together at the wedding…. The chat on the phone every day after they have met and can’t wait to see each other…. Patrick invites Mary, or Sweet Mary from Vermont as he likes to call her away for a weekend…… This book was such a great read… it was refreshing to read a romance story about an older couple…….. both Mary and Patrick keep their romance a secret …… Will Mary and Patrick find their happily ever after????? What will Cameron think when finds out about her fathers romance??????
I can honestly say that I have very few authors where I will continue to read a series. Somewhere along the line, the story line falls off and I just stop reading. That being said, Marie Force is one of the exceptions. I absolutely love reading all of her books. I haven't come across one yet that I didn't love. Can't Buy Me Love is a great addition to this series. I read this book in a few hours because I couldn't put it down. I like that it touches on things that goes through your mind when your older and starting a new relationship. Congrats on another great book in your series. Looking forward to more.
As a fan of Marie Force's Green Mountain Series, which has now become her Butler, Vermont series I was thrilled to see Patrick and Mary's story. Mary is the office manager for the Abbots at the Green Mountain Country Store. Patrick is Cameron's billionaire father from New York City. She thinks she is plain an simple, he think she has hung the moon. She is a small town girl. He is a billionaire Mogul in NYC. Will their two worlds work together?
What I love most about this book is that it overlaps with the timeline of many of Marie's other books in this series. It can still be read as a complete stand alone, but it is intricately woven perfectly to align with several other story lines in this incredible series. Patrick and Mary's story is one I have been wondering about and I am glad to know how it all fit together.
I cannot wait for more from this incredible series. I love the town of Butler, Vermont and the world Marie has created in this series. The Abbot family and their extended friends and family are a part of my heart and I have no interest in letting them go any time soon. Marie Force is a true writing genius and I am excited to see what she has in store for us next!
I love reading all of Marie's books. Can't Buy Me Love is a great addition to the Green Mountain and Vermont series. I couldn't put the book down. I am looking forward to reading more in the series.
Endlich ist der neue Band der Green Mountain Serie erschienen und ich habe ihn schon ausgelesen. Es war wieder toll in diese Welt einzutauchen. Ich liebe diese Serie. 4,5 Sterne
Mary Larkin has a settled life in Vermont. She loves working at the Green Mountain Country Store and the tight knit community that she lives in. Her calm world is set spinning when she meets Cam’s dad, Patrick Murphy. The sexy businessman leads a very different life than she is used to, but there is something about him that draws her in.
Patrick is also intrigued by the woman who works so closely with his daughter. He hasn’t had a serious relationship since his wife passed away 30 years ago, but feels something for the first time. They live such different lives though, it is hard to imagine what it would take for them to give a real relationship a try.
It was nice to read such mature characters. While many of the couples in this story have been more mature, Patrick and Mary are the oldest of the lot. They do not have the same challenges as any of the younger couples, and most of their plot tension comes from how to merge their two very established sets of habits and wants.
Patrick just wants to sweep Mary off her feet, but she isn’t used to all the attention and really just wants to keep things quiet. Keeping things quiet actually causes quite a bit of the tension between them, as their chemistry is perfection. Mary hasn’t had a lot of luck in the male department but Patrick is determined to change that. He is caring, doting (despite often being across the globe) and protective.
The timeline overlaps previous books a little bit, as Mary and Patrick meet just before Cam’s wedding, and in the background of Can’t Buy Me Love, the family is preparing for Hunter’s wedding. Other major events in the family are referenced, including some of Max’s baby drama, and Cam’s faint at her brother’s wedding.
This was a fun, quick read. Returning to Butler Mountain is always a joy and this was no exception. I am looking forward to Wade’s book, especially with the information in the epilogue that Linc and Elmer have discovered.
I was gifted a copy in exchange for an honest review.
What a great story about a man, Patrick, who never thought he'd ever love again after losing the love of his life during childbirth. Enter Mary, who thought she had found the man she would spend her life with after college only to find out his future plans didn't include her. When these two unite, sparks fly! It was a refreshing read for me as I'm getting "older" to read a beautiful happy story about second chances at love! Marie wrote a great one for these two and I can't wait to read her next book! 5+ stars for this one!
Very sweet romance with a good amount of steam. I came to the Vermont series and Green Mountain series mid stream and am still "playing catch-up". These stories are easy reads which leave the reader with a sense of enjoyment. A good read.
Can't Buy Me Love by Marie Force is the second installment in the Butler Vermont Series. I recommend to read the books in order. Book one is Every Little Thing. Mary and Patrick met at Cameron´s wedding. Cameron is Patrick´s daughter. Both spend a wonderful weekend and love each other deeply.
Can't Buy Me Love is a sweet romance, a well written book that I really enjoyed reading. I give 4,5 Stars. Thank you Marie Force.
Marie has done it again with the story of Mary and Patrick. Neither of them New that Cam and Will's wedding was going to change their lives forever. As always, a well written moving book that won't let you put it down.
There really isn't any conflict here, other than the most superficial. If Patrick and Mary really become a "thing" where will they live? If Patrick tells his daughter the secret he's been hiding, what will that mean for her? Both of these "problems" were solved with a minimum of fuss, and the reader's only left wondering for about a millisecond. Mary and Patrick are both perfectly nice, and completely deserving of an HEA, but the two of them have zero flaws. Seriously. The only thing wrong with Patrick is that when his daughter was growing up, he wasn't the most present of fathers--which she's completely forgiven him for--and the only thing wrong with Mary is...nothing. She's sweet, friendly, involved in her community and with charity, and everyone loves her. I guess her flaw is that she's not married yet?
So...if you're looking for a story that will keep you on the edge of your seat, breathlessly wondering what will happen next, this isn't it. Seriously, there is zero suspense here. But if you read Patrick and Mary's intro in You'll Be Mine and want to watch him woo her with sweet words, expensive gifts, and phenomenal sex, than this is definitely that book.
Rating: 3 stars / C+
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Patrick & Mary a love story for us older readers. CBML had me laughing and tears flowing at the same time and one hot hot couple in the bedroom. Marie, every time I read one of your stories regardless of which series the story always seems better. However it's going to be difficult to top Patrick & Mary's story. MF you have a hit with story of an older couple in love. I can't wait for the next one and please if possible every now and then write another one for us senior folks.
Not so good. Billionaire falls for a small time Vermont girl. But you don't get to witness the falling. Minimal character development. No story. And cheese cheese romance.
Mary Larkin was hard at work as the office manager at the Green Mountain Country Store when Cameron Murphy brought her dad, Patrick, in to visit. That fateful first meeting, which took place in You’ll Be Mine, sets the stage for Mary and Patrick’s long-awaited romance in Can’t Buy Me Love!
Mary enjoys her predictable, satisfying life in Butler. If it’s a little lacking in excitement, well, that’s okay with her. But after meeting Patrick and getting to know him better at his daughter’s wedding, Mary is intrigued by the well-known, sexy billionaire businessman.
Patrick is equally intrigued. For the first time since he suddenly lost his wife thirty years ago, he has met a woman who makes him feel less lonely, and all he wants is more of his Sweet Mary from Vermont. Flirty phone calls become a weekend away together that takes his relationship with Mary to the next level.
But with six hours and two vastly different lives standing between them, can Mary and Patrick find happily ever after together? And after telling her father to keep his hands and everything else off Mary, will Cameron approve of her father’s new romance?

REVIEW: 3.75 stars-- CAN’T BUY ME LOVE is the second installment (and novella) in Marie Force’s contemporary, adult BULTER, VERMONT romance series. This is fifty-something billionaire businessman Patrick Murphy, and forty-something office manager Mary Larkin’s story line. The BUTLER, VERMONT series is a spin-off from the author’s GREEN MOUNTAIN SERIES but you do not need to have read the original series to understand or follow the new release. Patrick Murphy is the father of Cameron Murphy ; Mary Larkin is the office manager for Lincoln Abbott-Patrick Murphy’s best friend. Patrick and Mary met at Cameron and Will’s wedding in the book You’ll Be Mine.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Patrick and Mary) CAN’T BUY ME LOVE follows Mary Larkin as she endeavors to get past her inhibitions and fears about dating a billionaire who lost his wife in childbirth years before. Patrick slowly begins a seduction of the woman that calls to his heart but knows he must take it slow lest he scares away his ‘Sweet Mary from Vermont’. What ensues is the building relationship between Mary and Patrick, and Mary’s struggle with the possibility of walking away from all that she loves.
The relationship between Patrick and Mary began with their introduction at Patrick’s daughter’s wedding in the book YOU’LL BE MINE. For weeks Patrick and Mary have been talking via phone calls but Patrick is determined to take Mary away for a weekend together, taking their relationship to the next level. The $ex scenes are intimate (some implied) without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including several couples from the Green Mountain Series. The world building looks at love between a billionaire and the woman that calls to his heart-Mary struggles with her lowly position and boring lifestyle in the face of Patrick’s business and financial success.
CAN’T BUY ME LOVE is a sweet and enjoyable story line; a sexy novella about a lonely billionaire whose heart was shattered years before, and the woman that is quickly becoming everything and more. The premise is lighthearted and playful; the characters are passionate and mature- there are very little anxious or conflicting moments; the romance is intimate and intoxicating. CAN’T BUY ME LOVE looks at love between an ‘older couple’, a rarity in romance story lines, but a love that burns as hot as any love, at any age.
Mary Larkin never anticipated meeting a man like Patrick Murphy. Someone who is rich, powerful and is totally out of her league. But Mary is smitten and after months of long conversations about everything under the sun, it’s time for these two opposites to meet for a weekend away. What Mary doesn’t seem to get is Patrick is equally smitten with her as we she is with him. Sparks fly between these two as they keep their burgeoning relationship under wraps, Mary tries to figure out how a relationship with this man can work with him in NYC and her in tiny small town of Butler, VT. But Patrick is nothing if not determined to win Mary’s affections and her heart, even as he falls hard for the spunky woman who has stolen his heart.
Oh my what a great addition to the Green Mountain/Butler, VT series. I adored meeting Patrick Murphy in Cam’s story, All You Need is Love, and the handsome man just stole my heart in CAN’T BUY ME LOVE. His wooing of Mary is sweet and sexy as sin and those sexy scenes are so hot I had to go cool myself off in front of a fan before I dragged the honey off somewhere. Marie Force is a talented author who just brought Patrick and Mary to life in their story, CAN’T BUY ME LOVE and delivered a story that is at turns heartfelt, sexy and so sweet I was either laughing, smiling or blushing like mad. This is an author who knows how to steal her readers’ hearts within minutes of reading any of her books and she doesn’t stint in her second book in the Butler, VT. Series at all.
Patrick is suave, sexy and so determined to win his ‘sweet Mary’ that he’ll do anything she asks just to give her the time she needs to come to gripes that he is all in and has fallen in love with her. For Mary, Patrick is like a whirlwind in her staid, quiet life in Butler but she cannot help but be charmed by him each time she talks with him. I adore these two together. The sparks fly off the charts between them and I was fanning the face more times I could count while reading this latest addition to the Butler/Green Mountain Series. The scenes where Patrick is showing not just telling her how he feels about her is so sweet and stole my heart alongside Mary’s. Ms. Force is a talented author who manages to convey Mary’s hesitations and doubts in a lasting relationship with suave and wealthy Patrick so seamlessly that I was rooting for these two to find a way to be together after chapter one. The scenes with the rest of the Abbott clan and Patrick’s daughter, Cameron were wonderful and I loved seeing my favorite people as well as the town moose, Fred, who made an appearance later in the book to my utter delight.
CAN’T BUY ME LOVE is a wonderful, well written book that just charms you right from the start as it steals your heart. I loved going back to this wonderful little town filled with people I long to meet for coffee or chat with. Ms. Force does a superb job in her second book in the Butler series that I am anxiously awaiting the next one with bated breath. If you haven’t read this series you need to run-not walk- to grab the first book, All You Need is Love, and get ready for the ride of a lifetime as you meet and fall in love with the Abbott clan and the residents of Butler, Vermont. I look forward to seeing where Ms. Force goes with this series in the future.
This is an objective review and not an endorsement
Inkvotary 3,5 Stars Some years ago, I discovered the Green Mountain books by Marie Force. Cameron, the daughter of one of the main figures in this new novel, was the main figure back then and I had a great time reading it. Well, this time I wasn´t as thrilled with this series, as I used to be. Something has changed. The tone isn´t the same anymore, although the author hasn´t changed her writing style.
Mary is happy with her life. She loves her job at the Green Mountain Store, the Abbott family runs and feels very satisfied with her daily routine and charity work she does every year. But one tiny moment at her bosses wedding changes everything. Patrick Murphy is handsome, rich and doesn´t accept no as an answer.
Why in gods name had the author to use every five seconds the phrase “Sweet Mary”? It was kind of amusing the first time. But then it became annoying. I probably should have counted how many times I´ve read those words in this cheesy and sometimes fanciless novel. But on the other hand, I wasn´t really interested in the real number. My disappointment grew by the second. I definitely expect more from the author. And she can do much better than she did with this novel.
No doubt, this book is a fast-paced one. You can read it within a few hours if you want or like. And the language the author uses is simple and easy to read. The style, Marie Force is famous for, shimmered through the pages from time to time.
But what displeased me was a simple fact, that most of the book was sex-scenes. After reading this book I literally knew most of the positions Patrick was having fun with Mary. I soon found myself asking the question, is this an erotic novel or what? And with all the cheesy talk Patrick used to have with Mary, for heaven’s sake, Mrs. Force have mercy with your readers!
The only thing that kept me from giving this novel a very low rating was the appearance of the Abbott family. And with that, the story got some of the wit, humor and hilarious scenes and dialogues back, the series once had and was the reason why I became a fan.
To see how they act with each other, how they fight, laugh, joke and enjoy each other’s company, and show by living it, what the love and comfort of a family truly mean, was simply everything. I loved every minute of it while reading.
Mary is a woman, who loves her job, her life and everything that is connected with the Abbotts. But her self-confidence is very low and frankly doesn´t exist at all when it comes to Patrick Murphy.
If you like a novel, that is mainly showing you some hot scenes (very graphic!) and is only about two people who spend time together, this could be your book. As a Marie Force fan, I am slightly disappointed. Sure, it was nice, although not necessary for me, to read about Mary and how she found the love of her life. But I wasn´t really hooked by this story.
