so basically i started reading this because i was genuinely so confused after seeing a quote from this book on my tiktok about a man who rips the fmc's iud out for his ??? first of alll.... that isn't possible. but yk what i couldn't even make it far enough to see how we got from point a to point b because you know what happens in the first 21%??? let me tell you what happens in the first 21% because phew...let me be nice chile
basically this girl is rich or wtv but her dad has a debt with the russian mafia. she gets sold off to said russian mafia, who she's had a connection to since childhood and has been best friends with their mafia son since she was like 6 or idk i literally dont care. what's really weird here is that she was sold off specifically because her childhood best friend's dad (the russian mafia boss) is obsessed with her and wants to take her precious virginity. best friend doesn't want this, no no. so he kills a man to 𝓈𝓉𝒶𝓀𝑒 𝒽𝒾𝓈 𝒸𝓁𝒶𝒾𝓂 on his woman and take her virginity HIMSELF! does he actually? yes. we see it happen within literally 20 pages. then he demonstrates the bloody sheets to his father, because this is completely normal behavior, even in fiction! mind you, this is the modern world, so this is absolutely not appropriate!!!
but then, but then, listen. it gets worse. he takes her to some gang leader's headquarters or some shit because there's some twins there with connections to other mafia organizations and he believes that his father can't touch her if she's there while he tries to overthrow him. she's like all upset or wtv because basically she thinks this gang is gonna assault her. her childhood friend tells her that they aren't like that and that they're honorable or something, but when she goes in all alone, the first thing that happens is she's suuuuuuuuuper horny and suuuuuuuuper turned on because the twins are SOOOOOO hot. and then the gang leader shows up and she tells him she needs his protection, but then he tells her that she can't have it for free so she has to give him head. what does she say? yes. and then she does it. with the twins beside her, guiding her and praising her. and she LIKES it and is magically SUPER GOOD at it! wow!!!!!!!! WOOOOOOOW!!!! oh, oh, let's not forget the moment one of the twins calls the gang leader 𝒹𝒶𝒹𝒹𝓎!!!!! guys oh my god. what. what is this? i can't believe what i've just read?

Dark, very dark kittens but h0ly smokes 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️. The story was heartbreaking as the main character is sold to the Russian mafia boss, but is able to escape. It seems like a love story, and it really is but with why choose theme with tatted up sexy AF brooding characters. The Netflix and chill chapter will be living rent free in my brain for a looong time that was extra!
But having read (and love) Tarnished Embers I knew it was going to turn, and those final 3 words, oh those final 3 words are going to haunt me until the next book comes. I love this author and follow her because she can write sexy for sure but the emotion behind every scene makes me a good girl for as long as she keeps writing.

DNF’d at 87%. When reading a dark romance with gangs and the mob involved I expect some damn dark and twisted shit. But I physically recoiled when Hunter just ripped out Iris’ IUD. That’s just fucked up and also super unrealistic that “she’s too blissed out to notice”. As someone who has had an IUD inserted/removed, I can tell you that there is no way she wouldn’t be screaming in pain. Would’ve given it negative stars if that were an option

The storyline is ok, but it feels like there were way too many kinks thrown in here at exactly the weirdest times. For someone with no triggers, I CRINGED at the non-con scene. What in the ever loving shit was that? It did not fit in this book at all. Along with Hunt saying “I’m the leader of a gang”…ugh idk. I hated this book so much. I got to 61% and quit.

DNF no chemistry, felt like a wattpad book, and was fuxking all the love instrest the DAY she met them so there was literally no chemistry at all, and a day a couple hours after she meets them she's crying about " why does everyone leave " like babe u just met this guy and confiding in him bffr, reminding me so much of wattpad, rushed, no plot

The book was just meh…I was kind of surprised it was rated so high. The spice level is there but the plot not so much for me. I might read book 2 when it comes out just to see what happens.

DNFed at 52%. There were just so many little issues that added up. Inconsistencies from one chapter to the next, 24-hour instalove between literally everyone, the FMC giving her lady parts a name and referring to it by the name CONSTANTLY. Also, at 52% in, I had no idea what the plot was supposed to be other than her meeting these guys 🤷🏻♀️

The worst part about ARC reading is the ultimate torture of needing to wait for the next book! I don't know how I'm going to manage! This was such a good book, and I need to know what happens next!
Kissed By The Shadows has sweet, rich, kind Iris who just returned from finishing school happy with her life - just her and her dad. She comes home from a day of shopping to find her father's business acquaintance, Sergi, and his son - her childhood friend Nikolai waiting in her home. Turns out her father got in a bind, and to save himself, he sold his only daughter to the Russian Bratva.
Nikolai has loved Iris since they were children. He fought to claim Iris over his father's men, but he also knows that his father is a terrible man and will do what he wishes to Iris whether Nik tries to lay claim or not. So, Nik steals her away in the middle of the night, delivering her to the Shadows - a gang that should be feared enough to keep her safe from his father. I felt for Nik in the story. He was the one constantly taking risks to see to Iris's safety. I wait anxiously to read his outcome of success... hopefully.
With the Shadows, we get Hunter and the twins: Rowan and Roman. Hunter is the serious, strong-willed leader. Roman is the fun, playful twin. And then Rowan is the quiet, observant, psycho (that we all love!). All men have their troubled, difficult background that made them into the dark men they are today, and they are happy to bring Iris's light into their life.
Iris quickly develops feeling for all the men, but that's the great thing about Why-Choose - she doesn't have to pick and they don't mind! The Shadows promise her their protection, but will it be enough against the Russian Bratva? Well, book 2 is hopefully out soon, so I don't have to wait too long to find out!

It was such a messed up situation, but he took care of her through it all. Then, he helps her escape to the Shadowmen because Nik knows they'll protect her. So much happened in this book that I wish I could tell it all.. but that would spoil the entire story. So I guess you'll have to read it! Check your TW!

How does this book have so many 5 star reviews? Is it strictly a rating on the smut??? It has to be or else everyone is being paid for these review because this is no 5 star book. All the Daddy’s alone would kill at least half of these. Nothing grosses me out more than a Daddy pet name 🤢.
The smut itself is good (super smutty and great to read) but the story is weak and a bit weird. Like everyone is just fine with sharing a girl with the enemy and she needs some self respect as far as I am concerned.

AHHH I literally could not stop reading! These Shadow men KNOW how to stake a claim, that’s for sure🫠
Iris becomes so strong in her predicament with her father and the Russian Bratva. It brought me so much comfort that through those horrible actions, she had Nik to guide her through that. I loved how she learned to navigate the relationship when he brought her to the shadow men & still had stolen moments even in their presence🙂↔️🥰
Roman, Rowan & CERTAINLY NOT LEAST Hunter move as one to me and they can read each other so well. There are definitely some relationships that I’m looking forward to being explored among the men🤭🥵
The all banded together to protect her and the end broke meeeeee, book 2 coming out this year made me happy though🤣
Don’t even get me STARTED on the spice, it was everything I ever wanted even with some taboo thrown in there! I was egging them on through my kindle because they were just complete and that fueled so much passion😩😉

I never DNF due to a compulsive nature, but man oh man this one had me so close. I hated every second of this, especially (but not limited to)
-the nicknames (barf in my hands, please no)
-she names her lady parts Evangeline and FREQUENTLY speaks of “her” in third person
-this whole book occurs within the span of a WEEK
-the worst tropes
I could go on but I feel bad for the author. I’m sorry but this never should’ve gone beyond wattpad. And lesson learned - never read a book based on one line paired with seductive music on a tiktok.

I don’t understand the high reviews. I love all of these troupes and scenes in better books. Den of Vipers, perfect fit, pucking around all have MMMF or MMMMF and same types of scenes but they at least had a point? There was no real plot to speak of; just ways to bounce from one sex scene to the next and the girl was a useless being full of holes. I found I don’t care what happens in the second book. It’s got lots of spice sure; but no substance.

Holy smokes was this one HOT read. The RH queen smashed it again. The MMC’s were pure perfection! I could not pick a favourite.
I couldn’t put it down, super fast paced, the spice was on a level. Rosa sure knows how to write those RH spicy scenes…. Not 1 MMC, not 2…. But 4?! Nikolai, Hunter, Rowan & Roman holy moly… completely swoon worthy.
A really great read, I’ll be needing that second book, like now! Gimme..

Really enjoyed this book, it’s got so many good tropes mixed together with great characters and a lot of spice in a gripping storyline!
Our FMC Iris has lead a sheltered and pampered life yet family drama finds her in the hands of the Bratva leader who shall we just say is into shady stuff and puts shivers on your goosebumps 😳😖 thankfully her childhood love might just be her knight in morally grey armour…it’s clear Nik would do anything for his Solnishka 😍 even if that means relying on other scrupulous characters to protect her when he can’t! Enter the Shadowmen: we have Daddy Dom Hunter who will protect his Princess (and there’s a Smexy age gap to boot) and then the twins Roman and Rowan. Roman is the lighter of the two with a quick smile and ease about him compared to Romans quiet intensity 🥰 each are unique but work together as a trio, and they’re going to need to to keep Iris safe especially as she is just beginning to find her feet again after everything she’s been put through 😖 and it appears the Bratva leader is not willing to let her go…I definitely feel there’s more to that story than simple ‘wants’! Can’t wait for book 2!!

Spicy Gripping Read
Really enjoyed this book, it’s got so many good tropes mixed together with great characters and a lot of spice in a gripping storyline!
Our FMC Iris has lead a sheltered and pampered life yet family drama finds her in the hands of the Bratva leader who shall we just say is into shady stuff and puts shivers on your goosebumps 😳😖 thankfully her childhood love might just be her knight in morally grey armour…it’s clear Nik would do anything for his Solnishka 😍 even if that means relying on other scrupulous characters to protect her when he can’t! Enter the Shadowmen: we have Daddy Dom Hunter who will protect his Princess (and there’s a Smexy age gap to boot) and then the twins Roman and Rowan. Roman is the lighter of the two with a quick smile and ease about him compared to Romans quiet intensity 🥰 each are unique but work together as a trio, and they’re going to need to to keep Iris safe especially as she is just beginning to find her feet again after everything she’s been put through 😖 and it appears the Bratva leader is not willing to let her go…I definitely feel there’s more to that story than simple ‘wants’! Can’t wait for book 2!!

ROSA LEE, YOU HAVE OUTDONE YOURSELF👏🏼👏🏼 Besides the fact that I just finished and I am infuriated with you lol, I am hooked on this book! You always exceed my expectations and your books (especially this one) will always be my favorite(s)!
These characters are unique and different, having hobbies and kinks that are not always mentioned, which I appreciate. These men are DARK, if you like morally grey men, here’s four on a silver platter! I wish I could see everyone else’s expressions when they read chapter twenty-three, I personally got all giddy like a kid in a candy store. Chapter twenty-seven was a bit much for me, not really my thing but, I’m not the person to yuck anyone’s yum and it was not something that affected the star rating I gave this book. I tried to not finish this in one sitting because I knew that as soon as I hit chapter twenty-nine Rosa was going to rip my heart out because she loves cliff hangers and I had a gut feeling of how this was going to end… “Forgive me peaches”…. ugh cue sobbing for several days!
I’m so excited for book two but, also nervous, I feel like I’m still not going to get the ending I want.
For all my dark romance lovers especially if you love why-choose, put this at the top of your to be read list asap!

This book: dark romance, 🩸play, RH, BDSM, mafia, found family
I was absolutely feral to get my hands on this book and it did NOT disappoint. It’s putting it lightly to say it was absolutely amazing from the first page to the last. I was in love with Nikolai from the very first chapter and as soon as I met the shadows I fell for them as well. I loved how real and relatable Iris, our FMC, was. She was raised a sheltered but sweet little rich girl and her world is thrust into chaos when she is sold to the head of the Russian Bratva by someone she trusted. Even with all the chaos she acknowledges her own shortcomings and adapts so well to what is thrown at her. I also adore how she acknowledges that how quickly she falls for the men in her life doesn’t seem right because it is SO fast but it just feels so real and right. This is a huge plot hole that I feel is largely over looked in the dark romance genre. This book is fast paced and never drags or dropped my attention. The shadows are EVERYTHING you want in book boyfriends (and some things I never realized I wanted 😉). Rosa left us on a brutal cliffy and I am already going crazy needing the next book!

This was my most anticipated book of the year and it was worth the wait. I absolutely loved it so much and of course fell even deeper in love with the Kent twins. I loved being able to get to know the characters Hunter, Roman, and Rowan even more after catching glimpses of them from Highgate Prep Academy series and I loved getting to know Nikolai and Iris as well. As always the spice is perfection and so is the playlist and I highly recommend listening to the playlist while reading if you can since each song matches the chapters and vibes perfectly. The ending had me almost in tears and my heart palpating, I cannot wait for the next book to see what is in store for Iris and her men.

ARC Book Review:
Abso-fucking-lutely amazing!! I was either on the edge of my seat, giggling, or just stuck in a trance. I couldn’t put this perfect book down all day. I think it may be one of my top favorite books of Rosa’s! (But honestly everything she writes is top tier!) I can’t wait for the other books to come out, I need this to continue!!!

Dark and spicy! Such a good read, it’s nice to hear a little about characters we’ve met in previous books as well! Totally wasn’t paying attention to how much of the book was left when it abruptly ended though! So I’ll be patiently waiting for book number two!
