Rebecca Friedelander has provided us here with so much more than a book. It is a practical manual for spiritual freedom, using principles of spiritual cleansing. Topics include Spiritual Cleansing for oneself, Cleansing our land, Principles of Spiritual Warfare and How to prepare anointing oils.
This is no mere academic treatise but borne out of Rebecca’s own spiritual journey into greater wholeness and freedom in Jesus. This a testimony wrought in the fires of adversity, and her coming through them into more wholeness. And her passion to see others experience Freedom in Jesus.
‘The content in this book is for anyone who courageously embraces the healing journey they learn to shut doors where the enemy entered in the past and move forward in the new life Christ promised.’

What an unusual name, “Taking the Gate”! Modern culture sees a gate as merely an entrance way. But in ancient times the City Gate was so much more. Rebecca explains that the gate not only provided protection, but was the place of decision making, justice and government.
Rebecca applies the idea of gates spiritually: ‘Each of us has a series of “gates” or “doorways” which offer points of access to our lives. Part of embracing our role as a warrior for Christ means that we that we identify our personal gates and learn how to open or close them.’

The book is 138 pages long. It has 8 chapters with an Introduction, a Conclusion and two bonus appendices. And it’s large with dimensions of 8 x 0.35 x 10 inches, and weighs 13 ounces.
So go scribble your notes freely in the margins. Meditate on the truths and pray them through. It will change your life – for the better.
For me the highlight was the chapter on the personal spiritual cleanse.
It can be done on your own. But from my own experience of a spiritual cleanse, I recommend having an experienced mentor lead you through it.

There are QR codes that link to some of Rebecca’s videos.
If you are an audio or visual learner, you will love these.

Some of the many memorable quotes:
‘If we are going to know Jesus in the throne room, we have to know him on the battlefield, too.’
‘This is no time for fear: it’s time for wisdom.’
‘Too many times we want the Holy Spirit to come but we don’t actually prepare a place for him to come.’
‘Some spiritual warfare is like receiving a badge of honor: it wouldn’t be happening unless you were putting your boots on the ground.’
‘Ministry is not just “what we do” but “who we are.” ’

I would like to see an electronic version become available, to augment the handheld copy. The paper one, being large, is great for writing notes. But being large means that it is not that portable. E-versions are great for travel.

This is a book for the serious Christian.
If that’s you, then go get this book.
Work through it.
Prepare to do the difficult work with Jesus.
You will not regret it.
