The discovery of a partially eaten corpse at the side of the road relights a smouldering obsession in paramedic Ruth Saran — who killed her husband?
Her quest leads her into the Scottish highlands and deep into danger, towards a reckoning with a family of cannibals who share a strange and grisly secret.
A full-length, full-colour graphic novel from legendary artist Chris Geary and veteran novelist and screenwriter Simon Lewis.
"Flesh and Blood" by Simon Lewis and Chris Geary is an electrifying thriller that hooks you from the very first page. Reminiscent of Silence of the Lambs and Raw, the chilling discovery of a partially eaten corpse sets the tone for a dark and compelling story. Paramedic Ruth Saran's obsession to uncover the truth leads her deep into the eerie Scottish Highlands, where she confronts a family hiding a terrifying secret. Combining the visceral horror of Crossed with the realism and character depth of The Walking Dead, Lewis masterfully blends suspense, horror, and cannibalistic intrigue. The graphic novel-like pacing, beautiful drawings and vivid descriptions make this a must-read for fans of flesh-eating horror and psychological thrillers. If you're looking for a book that will keep you on the edge of your seat and send chills down your spine, Flesh and Blood is the one to pick up!

'Flesh and Blood' is graphic horror novel with a fresh twist on cannibalism and is set in the Scottish Highlands, so as a Scottish horror girly I was pumped to get my hands on this one!
Paramedic Ruth Saran is on a mission to find out who killed her husband. After finding the remains of a cannibalised corpse Ruth meets Dan, a smug, flirty policeman. Together they form an unlikely duo and head towards a rural home in the highlands of Scotland in a blistering snow storm to hunt down the killers.
The downside to the graphic novel format is always the length for me! This is such a great concept and I wanted to see so much more. With the page constraint the relationship/partnership between Ruth and Dan felt incredibly rushed due to the fast pace nature of graphic novels but it did still work with the frantic and sadistic nature that brought them together.
The artwork by Chris Geary is brilliant although it might take a little getting used to if you're not acquainted with graphic novels and their art styles. I loved the use of blank space to convey the desolate highland landscape during a snowstorm.
Overall I highly recommend Flesh and Blood if you're looking for a blast of fast paced horror and a tiny sprinkle of romance.
I found this to be strangely familiar in feeling whilst being rather original. The characters are evolving throughout the story. As is the plot. There are unsuspected developments but nothing that is jarring.
Most of the characters, certainly the major ones, appear either good or bad but not one of them completely so. There is a rich vein of dilemma for the characters and that makes it very interesting in my opinion.
I really enjoyed the setting and there were some really heartfelt moments. Also flesh. And blood.
A really good read if you like a bit of horror contained within a good story with interesting people.
I sometimes found the art a bit difficult to decipher, but it was servicable. Random sex scene apparently in snow? Idk, that seems like it would lead to losing a few things to frostbite.
I did like the lore surrounding the cannibals though. That was interesting and something I would love to read in book form maybe.
