Dare Dating the Rebel

Rate this book
Timber Jones has no plans of falling for a man ever again after finding out her only boyfriend in high school was simply dating her on a dare. Her self-confidence shattered by mean comments and disrespect for her safety, Timber decided it was time for a life outlook makeover to keep men from trying to do such a thing to her again.

Her metal sculptures keep her busy during the week, but she always makes time for a ride on her motorcycle, among other dare-devil activities. Stopping at a bar one weekend for a drink and a chat with other local riders, she encounters the first man to show an interest in years, Scout Castillo.

Timber has her doubts about him, but her high school besties have harassed her about her man-hating attitude for years. And Scout seems chill enough that Timber wagers he doesn't have an angle. Maybe it's worth one date just to try things out.

Scout didn't want to bother Timber. He and his colleagues were on a ride in the opposite direction. But his military buddies made him an offer he couldn't refuse. The truth was, Scout fell for her the moment she walked into the bar. His friends just pushed him to talk to her.

Timber's icy personality proves to be another barrier, but when he meets her stray cat family, he knows there's a sweet side to her that she hides from the world.

Timber is a thrill to be around, and Scout runs on adrenaline and desire with each new adventure. He can't believe he's found a woman as hard-headed and tough as him...maybe even more than him.

But when the truth about their first meeting comes out at a Halloween party, will Timber forgive him? Or will Scout be banished from her life for good?

A clean romance featuring action, some danger to the main characters, bars, and motorcycle clubs, but no cursing or steam.

Date Dating the Rebel is the story of Scout, a Marine explosive specialist and Timber a magician with metal. When the explosive crew gets a vacation, they take to their motorcycles and cruise. This time they find their trip stopping in Vegas. At a bar, he sees Timber walk in all confident in her motorcycle gear. It sparks something in Scout but while he is getting his nerve up his friend dare him to make a date with her as they had watched him watching Timber. He goes up to talk with her and pays his bill and also hers. He asks about local places that might interest him and she agrees to go with him to watch the bike races the next day.

Timber had been in an abusive relationship in Texas and the place that they lived was with two or three friends. They decide to go out to get drinks but Timber turns them down as she had just been pushed and fell and had a tool thrown at her by her so called boyfriend. The other girl in the house tells Timber to leave while they are away before she gets really hurt. She even gave Timber some money to help her disappear and start over. Timber blocks his phone number and hits the road for Vegas. She was a skilled welder and could work on motorcycles. She found her talent of making metal sculptures and selling them was her love. And she had started to have feelings that maybe Scout was a different kind of man, one that she could have a life with. When he is leaving Vegas and asks her to come with them so she could go to the Halloween party she starts making excuses. But, she tells him she would be there for the party on Saturday. Timber had no idea that the trip to be with Scout was going to have an old enemy show up trying to kill her.

Timber lives in Texas working in a garage as a mechanic and is in a toxic relationship with a guy, who in a temper fit throws a tool at her. They live with another couple in a house, and they decide to go out for a drink. Timber declines, and the girl tells her to leave, gives her some money to start over, and Timber considers the idea.

She decides that she has had enough after 4 years with him, so she packs up her belongings and hits the road on her motorcycle for Vegas. She blocks him on her phone and speeds along to her new life in a different state, where she finds making metal sculptures is her real talent.

While going to a bar she meets Scout, who is a Marine explosives specialist on leave. His buddies dare him to go talk to the girl at the bar that he has been watching. He enjoys his motorcycle activities in his spare time, so he chats to Timber, but she does not trust men and Scout knows that a regular woman would not like his lifestyle. He asks her to show him some sights during the next few days he is in town. I'll leave the story there as I do not want to spoil the ending!

I could not stop reading this book and read it in one night! An excellent story with two characters that compliment each other and find love, especially after the trauma that Timber had endured and the way Scout lets her be herself is refreshing.

I did receive an Advance Reader Copy, and this is my honest review.

Is a sweet enemies to lovers, military romance with no cliffhanger.
Trigger Warning -- relationship abuse chapter 1
Some of the lines I really like --- "some- times we can’t see the darkness until it consumes us, especially when we choose only to look at the light.” ---- I will not let others walk on me again. They will not use me. I will not need them. --- "what you can give isn’t something tangible. Maybe it’s emotional. Kindness, companionship, a listening ear, or simple selfless dedication.” ---- “Sometimes, all it takes is one kind thought or gesture to show someone they aren’t invisible.” ---- “I think the most important thing we can do is to try. Try to be good, trusting, hard working, caring, and understanding. We aren’t perfect. We’re only human. And yet we can do so many things animals can’t. Like have faith, choose to heal, choose to try again and have hope when everything seems like it’s falling apart.” ---- life is not limited to one lifestyle—like fast and dangerous or tender and meek. ----
Is Scout dating Timber because he likes her or to win a bet? Will things workout for Smolder and his wife? What's the man in the red motorcycle outfit up to? These and other questions will all be answered.
I loved Timber and Scout's story and I'm sure you will too. I've loved everyone of her books I've read and can't wait to read her next book.

Stronger together

For Timber, life has always been unconventional. More intrested in mechanics, motors and welding than hair, dresses and boys, she intimidated most of the fuys in school. Only one guy ever asked her out, and she settled for what she could get. I was so happy when she finally packed her bags and rode off. I loved the home she made for herself by dint of her own skill as nd talent. She proved to herself that she could survive on her own.

I really thought Scout was perfect for her. He was confident enough to respect her ability to stand steady on her own; as an EOD specialist, he knew a clinging vine female couldn't handle his life. He also could soften her angles and be a safe space for her to be vulnerable. Timber and Scout were able to complete each other, but each could still stand on their own.

I received a free advance copy of this story from the author via BookFunnel and voluntarily chose to share my review

Timber Jones is a welder. She was hurt that her abusive high school boyfriend Dustin only dated her on a dare. She leaves him and heads to Las Vegas to start over. She now focuses on her metal sculptures and riding her motorcycle.

Scout Castillo is a Marine. His team is back in the United States. They take a few days in Las Vegas to decompress. Scout will then drive to Idaho to see his sister and grandmother. He sees Timber and finds her attractive but is afraid to approach her. His buddies dare him to talk to her.

I felt bad for Timber because she was so mentally drained from her relationship with Dustin. I felt bad for Scout because he really likes Timber but has never been with anyone that respects his job as a Marine. I wanted them to give each other a chance. I cringed when Timber found out what prompted Scout to talk to her in the first place.

Another good story in this series.

Adrenaline junkies find love

An adrenaline junkie and cat rescuer, Timber’s past relationship troubles have made her stay away from men and become independent and feisty. She loves riding her motorcycle and making metal sculptures. But she feels like something is missing in her life that her cats can't fill.

Team player Scout is in the military and hesitant to start a relationship as his job is quite dangerous. When he meets Timber in a bar he is smitten. He manages to talk her into showing him some local sites and they go trail bike riding.
And so Scout begins the process of winning Timber's heart.

I loved the characters in this romantic story and it was a bit grittier than the previous ones in this series. Each can be read as stand-alone. This is clean and sweet with a bit of danger.

Timber has been brutalised emotionally by her ex boyfriend. She was finally able to get away and create a new life for herself. She has managed to make her sculptures of discarded metals into a thriving business. Timber ensures that no man will hurt or confine her again by being strong and fiercely independent. Scout sees her at a bar, while passing through town and instinctively knows that she is important to him. But he is shy and she keeps herself aloof. Their story is mired in self doubt and disbelief in the ‘normal‘ processes of interpersonal interaction in relationships when one side is broken and the other is hurt. A clean but well thought out story of the intricacies of starting anew when gaslighting has been your norm.

Timber is a motorcycle riding, metal welding, and cat rescuing adrenaline junkie. She is unconventional, and most guys are intimidated by her. Her last relationship was abusive, and she is wary of getting involved with another man. She tends to be a loner.
Scout is with the marine explosive ordinance disposal unit. He thrives on danger but knows the importance of family and friends .
Scout uses their shared interest in dangerous activities to get to know her, but can he get her to trust him ?
This is a clean, sweet romance between two strong characters who like a bit of danger in their lives.. I really liked the characters, and
how their story played out.

This next Diva book, Dare Dating the Rebel, was a fun read. Each book we are introduced to one of the Divas and the other Divas pop in when one of them needs support. Timber is the sculptor, welding old and odd pieces together to make a new special art piece. Scout and his Marine team, are on leave in Vegas, when Scout is dared by his fellow team members to go meet Timber. Sparks are flying from the minute he sets eyes on her. Timber is Leary, after coming off a bad relationship and Scout is going to try to break through the fence. As they learn more about each other, Scout is sure, but Timber is weary. It's a fun ride to the end, but not without pain.
I was given an ARC of this book by the author for an honest review.

This was not a book that I would typically read.  I enjoyed getting to  know Timber and Scout.  They were interesting characters. Timber carried a lot of baggage after being in an abusive relationship.  She also had trust issues.  The characters seemed to bring out the best in each other.  "Sometimes, all it takes is one kind thought or gesture to show someone they aren't invisible."  I really liked that quote from the book which summed up how Timber felt.  I was so glad Scout found Timber and they were able to help each other heal. I received an advanced copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.

An entertaining addition to the Divas Military Romance series, introducing two people with vastly different backgrounds and personalities.
Scout, a military robotics specialist, and Timber, a skilled welder and metal sculpture artist, develop a trusting relationship by focusing on their strengths and striving to see beyond hurtful events from the past.
Scout and Timber learn that sharing gratitude by viewing what they have accomplished, instead of emphasizing what the world has done to them, is a powerful way to give direction to their lives.
This book is a motivational story of teamwork, trust, strength, and hope.

Timber wasn't a typical girl. She was into riding a motorcycle, repairing them, and welding. I was so glad to see her get away from Dustin. She went to Vegas to start a new life.

Scout was an EOD specialist who happened to be in Vegas also. He asked Timber to show him some of the exciting things to do, since he was only going to be in town for a few days.

Would she be interested in doing that, since she didn't trust men? Could he break through her tough exterior, so she can see the man he really is?

I received a free ARC, and this is my honest opinion.

This clean military romance story was enjoyable to read. The characters were engaging and likable where I easily became invested in their romance story. You have Timber Jones a tomboyish metal sculpturer who's had it with men and Scout Castillo a Marine explosive specialist who had a hard time keeping a woman when they find out what he does. They meet when his friends dare him to approach a women walking in at the bar they're drinking at. What occurs is a twisty, well written, romance story that kept me very entertained as I read.

Timber, a female who feels unappreciated, has no family, not a typical "girly" female, discovers that her significant other only started to date her on a dare and she rebels, packs up and moves as far as her gas tank will take her. She develops a profitable living, but still does not trust any man.
There are several twists and turns to this story that grabs your attention. It is an entertaining and tender read.
I was provided with an ARC of this book and this review is my honest review.

Dare Dating the Rebel is a clean, heartwarming, romance with some suspense. Scout and Timber are fascinating characters. He needed a strong woman and he also made her softer. Her past caught up with her as she sped off after a fight with Scout. Ms. Strife’s books always hold my attention from start to finish. I admire the life Timber had created for herself after she left Texas. I could not put this book down!

Strife does a wonderful job of presenting a tale of a deeply wounded, fiercely independent, capable, generous woman and her slow-but-steady growth into the type of relationship she deserved and needed all along.

Loved it!

I found myself relating to Timber really well in this story - as well as daydreaming that maybe her HEA could be mine one day.

I received an ARC; this is my honest review.

Such a wonderful story. Scout and Timber are a perfect foil for each other. Their relationship develops quickly despite Timber’s reluctance to get involved with anyone. Her only relationships are with the other DIY Divas. The story keeps you involved and you won’t want to stop reading until the end. I enjoyed reading this.

I'm not into motorcycles and bad boys but this was such a good book! It was well-written, flowed smoothly, and everything connected. I loved all the cats, and Timber's ability to make things from what some might call junk. This is my favorite in the series so far, and Timber and Scout are my favorite characters.

I loved Timber and my heart hurt for her. Scout was a great guy and was waiting for Timber to see herself as he did. Romance and suspense kept me on the edge of my seat and wondering how this book would end. I believe this is my favorite in this series. It was an intense read.
