The harsh desert sun sets across the city deep within the valley. It is a cruel and unforgiving town full of vice, crime, and excess. David Garston of the state PD, a veteran of the system, discovers just how dark and twisted the city can be when a series of brutal killings occurs.
Debut novel from Tom Anderson that broadly falls into the Crime/Noir category with tentacles reaching out to Horror and even Sci Fi, Cornucopia is quite exceptional in the way it portrays brutality, sacrifice, murder and a host of cult practices. This is not a story for the faint-hearted, but it is one that engages all the senses in a way that is all too often not found - especially in a debut work. Tom Anderson writes with a mature assurance of his plot, characters, locations and themes. The story lives up to the title. This is a cornucopia of a tale, set in an isolated town, caught up in a spiral of darkness. Remember this author's name. Tom Anderson. I think we will be hearing a lot more from him, and I shall be looking out for that.
Cornucopia is an enjoyable horror noir from new author Tom Anderson. The story is really interesting and feels reminiscent of the tone of Seven, 9mm and other gritty crime horrors. The pacing is good and the story keeps you guessing all the way through. An enjoyable read from a new writer who I'm sure we'll see more of in the future!
An awesome story, that flowed beautifully throughout. Some twists felt dizzyingly unexpected. With an eerie undertone, this book enveloped you in a world of dark beliefs and slaying in a manner that wasn't gratuitous. I appreciate the style of writing that feels at times like poetry. An outstanding read, from a new author that I'm sure we'll be hearing more of. 🖤
This was a fantastic ride. Fast moving plot with lots of dark twists and turns. Once I started I couldn't put it down. Fantastic boom from a new artist. Can't wait to see what else he does.
