We danced around each other for years…we played a silent game of hate and bathed in it. Until one day, everything changed…
But she could never be mine. She is the heartless demon of New York.
She is my boss. I am her sous chef. She lost her soul ten years ago while mine is being ripped apart as we speak. She is the air I never knew I needed.
I hate her. I want her. And I think I might love her.
But what do I do when she belongs to the dark ocean. The one full of hurt. Or at least her heart does.
How do I protect mine when she’s already dragging me down to the deep end?
My Heartless Soul A Novel Written By Daisy Thorn Fiction - Romance Published January 2024 325 Pages ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is the third book in the author’s The Demons of New York Series. Although I haven’t read the first two books in the series, I was still able to enjoy this book as a standalone. Now I definitely want to read books 1 and 2. This book is very spicy!!
I discovered this author in 2023, and she has become a favorite of mine. Her writing immediately gets you invested in the plot. Each of her books that I have read have a unique feature. This book has a playlist. That isn’t the unique part; many books now include a playlist. She begins many of the chapters with the title and artist of a song that represents the character and theme of that particular chapter.
This is a workplace romance, and she’s the boss. He is a single dad. Both main characters have a tortured past that is uncovered in the dual points of view.
Kira Clark is a renowned chef who owns several restaurants. As a result of the childhood trauma she suffered, she is cold, unfeeling, heartless, and ruthless. She is struggling with personal demons. She is not very nice to her staff. It would be easy to hate her, but I could not.
Vassar Levidis is the Sous chef at Kira’s New York City restaurant. He has his own demons to deal with. He also has a lot on his plate, pun intended. He is a single dad to a five year old daughter. He also cares for his college age younger sister, and his mom requires hospice care. He has a lot of hatred for his boss.
Vassar is forced to enter into a fake dating relationship with Kira after an acquaintance of hers refuses to leave her alone. This fake relationship illustrates the fine line between hatred and love. It also exposes the jealous streak in Kira.
Vassar’s five year old daughter, Victoria, is the star of the book. He is such a devoted father to her. The interaction between Kira and Victoria will melt you heart. The Little Mermaid connection in this book was a nice touch.
Kira and Vassar’s story reinforces that love conquers all! Vassar’s love and support help to tame Kira’s demons and allow her to see herself as a strong woman who is a survivor.
“…I will find that heart you are trying so hard to hide.”
Kira freaking Clark, the biggest demon of New York. A successful chef and restaurant owner to places all around world deems herself to be heartless and ruthless. Sleeping with whoever she wants just to get fill until one of them gets a little too clingy and starts making up rumors about them in the press. That’s when Vassar Levidis comes in not only her sous-chef but now taking the role of her fake boyfriend even though they can’t stand each other. Do you think Kira Clark cares that this dances on the line of professionalism? Whatever Kira Clark wants, she is going to have.
Kira- “you gave me all this, Vas. You pulled me out of that ocean, and you gave me life.” Vas- “no, it was always here. Waiting for you. For us. I love you, Kira. Always and forever”
Vassar Levidis has made his way up to my top 5 book boyfriends. First of all his mouth will have you blushing, but secondly the way he loves and cares for Kira and her demons is simply beautiful. Kira has a dark, dark pass which makes her the way she is, but giving it all to Vas he cares for it and holds it in his hands for her. Now Vas has just as many demons, but this man loves and cares for his family no matter what. This story was absolutely beautiful, I was laughing and crying a lot. If you want a story where facing your demons in front of the person you love only to have them love you harder…this story is for you. Loved every second for this book start to finish.
Release date Jan 5! Thank you to Daisy for letting me apart of the arc team (:
It’s not very often I start and finish a book in one sitting. When I started this one I was SUCKED RIGHT IN. HOOK, LINE, & FCKN SINKER.
I went into their ARC completely blind to the author and what the series was about. I’ll now be binging the rest of it shamelessly.
I love a morally gray character. I loved Vas and Kira so much. Kira is so sassy and witty it’s absolutely hysterical. The lines she comes up with are top tier insults. Phenomenal.
Vassar was amazing. He is true to himself and cares so deeply for his family, he goes to the end of the earth for them all in different ways. I really enjoyed Vee in the second half of the book - you got so much more detail about how sweet and smart she is. She melted my entire heart.
The character development of Kira was so impressive, she went from a soulless, heartless monster to someone incredibly different. The epilogue and bonus epilogue tied the story together nicely and I think it was the perfect ending for their family.
Daisy Thorn did it again 🧡 gave us another story of raw beauty. real characters who have been broken by the world and those around them. and fighting to be strong enough for you and those around you.
sometimes we don’t see the strength and beauty we offer the world. we hide in the shadow where we think it’s safe because no one else can harm us again. but My Heartless Soul is a reminder that sometimes someone will meet us in the shadows and be patient to step into the light together.
one of my favorite scenes was when Vas was describing his favorite color and why. Kira is thinking she is nothing like he describes. but it’s Vas’s favorite color because it reminds him of her 🤍 because he sees what she doesn’t. because he loves her, broken heart and all 🥹
thank you so much for letting me ARC read this story Daisy - I love you and the stories you share with us, especially this one 🤟🏼
I would say it was an ok book. The writing was too juvenile for my taste. Instead of writing smut every second chapter, more bonding scenes would be more fitting.
Vassar has one dirty mouth on him and I’m here for all of it!!! While reading there were many gasping moments. My husband asked me what was wrong “nothing wrong baby!! Just lots of great stuff” The showed him and he said “Damn! Daisy Thorn writes some good stuff” (Chapter 16) IYKYK
Vas is no pushover and he kept silent for so long until Kira stirred something in him. Kira was very protective of her heart until she was wrapped around Vas and his daughter, Victoria’s finger.
Vas and Kira went through so much and were perfect for each other! This book was a roller coster of emotions and at the end it was HEA! LOVED IT!!!
Honestly the worst fmc I have ever seen she was mean, horrible and very unlikable she thought she was a badass but was a looser I regret wasting time on this book ughhhh
My Heartless Soul is the last book of The Demons of New York series. It can be read as a standalone (I did lol). I'll come back to read the previous books when I can. Thank you Daisy for letting me review your book!
Kira Clark is a famous chef in New York. She owns multiple restaurants. Her employees have dubbed her as Ursula or a witch because of her "I-Hate-Everyone" attitude. But she has childhood trauma that has left her needing to protect herself. As you learn more about her past, you cannot help but feel deeply for her. She truly deserved better. Kira faults herself for everything that happened.
At the polar opposite side of her is Vassar Levidis: her sous chef in New York, sculpted by the Greek Gods (lol), and single father. Although he is the "sunshine" to Kira's "grump," he has his own issues. He had to learn to raise his daughter on his own after his wife walked out on them and he supports his sister's college studies. Despite all that darkness, he will make you blush.
As I read, I saw a lot of growth between these characters, especially when they revealed their traumas to each other. Kira and Vassar helped each other heal, and in turn, helped his daughter Victoria heal from her traumas with her biological mother. It helped a lot that Kira and Victoria clicked pretty fast and having that connection to speak freely when alone.
🝮︎︎︎︎︎︎︎𝒕𝒓𝒐𝒑𝒆𝒔+𝒕𝒓𝒊𝒈𝒈𝒆𝒓𝒔🝮︎︎︎︎︎︎︎ • angsty romance • anti-hero fmc • boss x employee • bully romance • celebrity chef fmc • fake dating • forced proximity • grumpy x grumpy/sunshine • hate to love • mutual pining • opposites attract • OM drama • singe dad • k!nky stuff: booty play, "crawl to me," explosive in the sheets •
I am so glad this was the first book I read in 2024! I absolutely devoured it and can’t wait to read more from Daisy.
This is the third book in Daisy’s Demons of New York series and follows Kira & Vassar. Kira Clark is a renowned chef, known for her unique creations and cruel attitude. She doesn’t do relationships or interactions outside of yelling. And her favorite victim is her sous chef, Vassar. It doesn’t hurt that he never fights back and looks like a Greek God. But when a situation arises and Kira is forced to use Vassar as a fake boyfriend, does she realize she got a taste and wants more. Vassar Levidis is a well known sous chef and a devoted single father. But there is something missing from his life and he did not expect to feel anything other than hate towards the red haired witch, also known as Kira Clark, his boss. When she forces him to pretend to be her boyfriend, she starts to fill that void. But as she begins to stir a new passion in Vassar’s life, both of their pasts emerge and bring up old wounds. Will they be able to survive the past or will they be dragged into the depths of their secrets?
Oh I loved these two characters so much! There is something amazing about two people who feel so deeply about the other, even if that feeling is hate. You know what they say about a “thin line between love and hate”. As the story progressed, we got a better idea of why Kira is heartless. It was heartbreaking and I loved seeing how her character developed throughout the story.
And Vassar!? Ugh, I’m in love. He may seem quiet and Kira’s personal punching bag in the kitchen, but that all changed once they were alone and I LIVED FOR IT! Vassar was an amazing family man, and he would go to the ends of the earth for the ones he loved. And I absolutely loved Victoria, Vassar’s daughter. She definitely had some of the best moments in the book and her relationship with Kira was beautiful. This story had a fantastic ending/epilogue and it made my heart so happy!
I will for sure be reading Daisy’s other books and completing the Demons of New York series now that I’ve had a taste for the characters! As always, please read the content and trigger warnings! Thank you so much Daisy for the opportunity to read an arc of this book!
What a beautiful and heartbreaking story of two tortured souls.
Kira Clark was a cold and heartless Chef and entrepreneur. Every day for five years, she used her sous-chef, Vassar Levidis, as her verbal punching bag. Throughout this story, we learn about Kira’s childhood and the reason that she’s heartless: to keep her demons buried.
Vassar Levidis is a single dad trying hard to take care of his five-year-old, his sister, and sick mother, all while battling his own demons his ex-wife left him with.
When Kira Clark starts having issues with a former hookup, she uses Vassar as her “fake” boyfriend to get him off her back. Only the “fake” isn’t fake for long and the hate they’ve had towards each other for five years comes to a steamy boiling point.
And leave it to Vassar’s five-year-old, Vee, to crack “Ursula.”
I absolutely loved this story. The fire between Kira and Vassar was so hot. I loved that he kept calling her “witch.” The growth between the two of them together and individually was beautiful. And the bond Kira formed with Vee was perfect. I definitely cried throughout this story.
This was my first Daisy Thorn book, and won’t be my last. An overall emotional and beautiful story. Definitely check TW.
I’ve loved this series but this book shot straight to the top. It was heartwarming, filled with super hot chemistry and tension, along with a beautifully healing love between two tortured souls that will have you all up in your feels.
𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝘀: workplace romance, she’s his boss, single dad, hate to love, tortured past, fake dating, no third act breakup
Kira is that girl you love to hate, she’s all fire and reminds me of a female Gordon Ramsay when she’s in the kitchen. She’s been through hell and come out the other side determined to protect herself from being hurt again. But her carefully constructed walls are no match for her sous chef, Vassar. What starts as a fake relationship to avoid a PR nightmare, quickly becomes so much more when the fire ignites between them.
Vassar has the patience of a saint and I loved him instantly. No matter what Kira threw at him, he was calm and didn’t let her heartless-ness affect him. He had been through his own heartbreak and was doing his best to provide for his family while being pushed to his limits at work by Kira. He was the perfect man for our girl. He saw past her cold, frosty facade and loved every piece of her.
Then there was little Vee who stole my heart, she was the perfect addition to this story with her sweetness adding a lightness to what was going on. The bond she built with Kira was so perfect, their moments made me melt.
This HEA had me all up in the feels, I laughed, cried and swooned. It was beautiful and so healing, for not only Vassar and Kira, but for sweet Vee too. The growth of both of them not only together but individually was truely beautiful. Highly recommend this book and series.
In the world of culinary genius, Kira Clark reigns supreme. Behind her arrogant exterior, however, lies a wounded soul desperate to bury the pain of her past. When a risky fling leads to disastrous consequences, Kira is forced into a high-profile relationship with her talented sous chef, Vassar, a devoted single father who refuses to be her plaything. This unexpected turn of events forces them into close proximity as their feelings for each other refuse to be ignored.
✨Thoughts✨ Wow, what a storyline! Once again, Daisy Thorn delivers a fresh and engaging narrative. "My Heartless Soul" shatters the mold of possessive male protagonists, offering readers an unhinged female lead whose possessiveness knows no bounds. Gone is the traditional broken hero, replaced by a resilient woman marked by her past. Kira Clark takes the spotlight while Vassar, who doesn't need wealth or power to rock Kira's world, shines in his own right.
From the very first page, this story ensnares its readers. The pacing is flawless, and the chemistry between our protagonists is simply electrifying. I was so immersed in the story; I didn't want it to end!
Overall, this story delves into darker themes yet is well-balanced with the single father and fake dating tropes. Sprinkled with just the right amount of sizzling spice, this book is an absolute must-read!
Thank you to the author, Daisy Thorn, for graciously providing me with an advanced copy of "My Heartless Soul" in exchange for my honest review. These thoughts are entirely my own.
Daisy has quite literally put her heart and soul into this book. I could feel it on every page. I am so damn proud of you Daisy.
Kira is a world famous chef with the most angry temperament. She is a completely unlikeable character to begin with until you read snippets of her past that are laced through the pages and you understand why she is the way that she is.
Vassar is a loveable rogue with the patience of a SAINT! With a traumatic past himself, and a family to support, Vassar has no way out from working under Kira as her sous chef. He becomes a verbal punching bag for Kira and he never waives in his patience. That is until they end up in a relationship of convenience, and he starts to give Kira a run for her money.
Kira and Vassar are perfect together.
The character development in this book is phenomenal.
I felt Kira's pain in the depths of my heart! This book is DARK. please take heed of the trigger warnings.
While this is a spicy romance, for me I feel that the story is SO much more important than the spice.
What to expect: Relationship of convenience, grumpy x grumpy, "mine", heartless meets heartbroken, workplace romance, single dad, HEA.
I will be forever grateful to be part of Daisy's permanent ARC team.
My Heartless Soul is out on January 5th.
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (my first 5⭐ of 2024!) Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️
What to expect 🖤 mf workplace romance 🖤 hate to love you 🖤 fake relationship 🖤 ball busting FMC 🖤 single dad 🖤 on page mention/memories of CSA/CA. Check authors trigger warnings.
4⭐️ 3🌶️ Recommend
Kira is a successful chef and entrepreneur, owning multiple restaurants around the world. She treats sex like it’s transactional. She is hard, cold and gets off on using her words like a weapon. Especially against her sous chef Vassar. Vassar stoically tolerates his bosses abuse. Always remaining calm and collected. He has a job to do and responsibilities at home that keep him working ridiculous hours for a witch he despises. These two !!! What Kira wants, Kira demands. When she needs a fake boyfriend she gets much more than she bargained for with Vassar. He is no longer the compliant employee. He takes control and pushes back. I love how Kira becomes vulnerable with him. Her icy facade melts. Her relationship with his daughter is precious. Vassar is a good guy. He cares for his mother, sister and his five year old daughter. When he loves its with his whole heart. Watching their relationship unfold was special. Their banter was perfect. Their lust for each other was scorching hot. This is the third and final book in this series. It can be read as a standalone but it’s fun revisiting past characters.
🔥Hate to Love 🔥Shes his Boss 🔥Anti Hero FMC 🔥Single Dad 🔥Relationship of Convenience 🔥'He is Mine' 🔥Forced Proximity 🔥Hurt/Comfort 🔥heartbroken meets heartless
I wanna thank you daisy for the arc! I really enjoyed this story, i was on the verge of tears multiple times, Kira has been through the ringer and is so strong to keep going. Shes considered heartless by everyone around her. She takes what she wants and isnt sorry about it. Vas is a hot single dad raising his beautiful angel, victoria, providing for his family including his sister and dying mother. He puts up with Kira in and out of the kitchen calling her a witch but hes drawn to the pain he sees in her eyes.
Kira with Victoria was so sweet to read, two beautiful mermaids. Iykyk.
Okay, okay, the spice level in this is whewwww, lots of hate fucking, youre mine and we really k*ll each other while deep in the other. Lots of kitchen scenes. 😉
If you love, enemies to lovers, single dad, and anti hero fmc finally getting her happy ending then this is for you!
Vassar has spent 5 years trying to hate his boss and that same boss has spent 5 years using Vassar as her “toy” in the kitchen. She tried everything to get him to loose his cool exterior, but he can’t loose his cool because he could lose his job which he desolately needs as a single dad. That is until Kira demands Vassar be her fake boyfriend for the press..
This book sucked me in SO FAST! I DEVOURED IT! I could not put it down! This was my first book written by Daisy and I am HOOKED. LOVE LOVE LOVE. Immediately added all of Daisy’s other books to my TBR.
I went into this ARC completely blind (my favorite thing to do). No regrets here!
Vassar has one hell of a dirty mouth on him!! I’m here for all of ittttt! Kira is absolutely hilarious. Her witty lines are epic 🤣
This is easily a top read for me! Kira’s character development was incredible! This story will rip your heart out and delicately put it back together just to tear it out again.
I highly recommend this book! Definitely check trigger warnings first!
Read this if you love: 💕 Fake Dating 💕 Workplace Romance – She Is His Boss 💕 Single Dad 💕 Forced Proximity 💕 Hate to Love 💕 No Third Act Breakup
Daisy you absolutely 100% wrote an emotionally, spicy, tear jerker, funny, adorable, feral, strong, broken MC’s book to end a SERIES. You obviously put your heart and soul into this book. I thank you for that.
Vassar. What a sweet feral man. He was exactly what Kira needed. His strong sweet affection for his daughter is swoon worthy. When he is with Kira that feral side comes out. It’s absolutely what she needs.
“You wouldn’t pick anyone else because there isn’t another sane person on this whole planet who can handle your heartless ass. And also, I am the only one you look at like that.”
Kira. Kira. Kira. KIRA. This broken, sad, has so many damn walls up, yet so strong and a fiercely beautiful soul. The way she was around Vas daughter, Vee was precious. I wanted to hold her and let her cry.
“I jumped off the cliff all by myself. Like I always do, and no one is there to catch me. Like always…”
The chemistry between Vas and Kira was explosive and beautifully broken. They fixed each other and mended their broken souls.
“I hate the woman so much, yet I want her with almost manic desperation. I’m sick. And need so much help…”
“I belong to the ocean. The important bits. The heart you are looking for. It’s there. All the way at the bottom.”
Fantastic ending to the Demons of New York Series. Daisy I can’t wait to see what else is coming!
AHHHH!! I think this one is my favourite of the series! I am a sucker for a strong female lead and daisy knows how to do it!! I’m in love 🫢
Kira is a famous chef that is detached from her feelings due to childhood trauma. She puts all her emotions into cooking and creating new recipes. But her favourite thing to do is tease her handsome sous chef Vassar.
Vassar is a sous chef that always strives for perfection. He admits that kira is attractive but doesn’t say anything because she’s his boss and they ‘hate’ each other!
I love these so much!! I don’t know if I want to be Kira or be with her!! Also I love Vassar so much he is raising the standard and at this rate nobody real can even see the bar let alone achieve or exceed it! I don’t know how she does it but daisy puts something in her books to make them so addictive to the point to keep reading although you are supposed to be asleep!!
I want it thank for daisy for this arc I am so grateful I’ve received one and I thoroughly consumed this book. READ IT RIGHT NOW!! 🥰🥰
There were so many beautiful moments between our two main characters that I teared up at! I loved getting to see the relationship between Kira and Vas develop and change throughout the book. I also admire the way these two were able to be vulnerable with each other. All the moments between Kira and Vee are some of my favorite and I love their relationship!
Some of these heartfelt moments gave me the same emotional whiplash that I experienced during the eras tour when going from tolerate it to reputation. Kira and I are the same in the way that we do not like talking about our feelings, but homegirl really went from being vulnerable to asking if they could continue their spicy time 😂. I loved the power she had in the moment, but it was a bit wild to me.
✨Heartbroken meets heartless ✨Workplace romance (she’s the boss) ✨Single dad ✨Hate to love you ✨Anti-hero FMC ✨Hurt/ comfort ✨Dark upbringing (FMC) ✨Relationship of convenience ✨No third act break up
Buckle Up for A Passionate Emotional Roller Coaster…
All I can say is THIS! This is an enlightening dark masterpiece filled with a variety of emotional passion, that hit me so profoundly both physically and emotionally. It’s like no other. I enjoyed the “Hate to Love” relationship, even the jealousy, the slight humor and the endearing love between father and daughter that left me in utter tears. They were so adorable. This was like riding an emotional roller coaster. I loved and felt Kira’s walls, how and why they were built and how terrifyingly and gradually they were torn down with the love she never thought she could have let alone understand. “Hate, I know. Love, I never understood.” That line was the icing that totally broke me. The author described her hurt so profoundly, I felt it in my spirit. It’s changed my perspective on hope and what it truly means to love and be loved without the worry of protecting yourself from a broken heart, to be free and totally exposed at the same time.
My Heartless Soul by Daisy Thorn Book 3/3 of The Demons of New York Series ! ☆☆☆☆ 🌶🌶🌶 WITH A HEA!
I read the first two books, and this third one I have to say is my favorite! It starts out darker than the the first two. Kira's past is so heavy, it will break your heart. BUT I'm glad Vas is there for her. Fake relationship, ENEMIES TO LOVERS. ANGSTY. Definitely a great book! Daisy Thorn is new to me until this series and I can't wait to read her other books now! These are standalone, but it's nice to have read the other books to understand who the other characters in the stories are. This book will tug at your heart and love both Kira, Vas and Vee (Vas's daughter). Some subject matters may be triggering to some, so please read the warnings before starting.
Definitely recommend you read the first two, but honestly, this is a standalone and can be read first. You will probably fall in love with with this series and want to read the other two books! Happy reading!
Thanks, @daisythornauthor this wonderful series! I enjoyed every turned page! ☺️
Applause to Ms. Daisy thorn. This was incredibly real and raw. The emotions and whirlwinds this book provided was truly intense.
In my opinion, this storyline may have been the most traumatic out of the series. The amount of trauma Kira went through not many people make it out to the other side. Many people would have thrown the towel in. This caused Kira to have a strong backbone and to have a negative outlook on life with a pessimistic personality.
Vassar…kind of like a sour patch kid. A single father, a sous chef, and a man who speaks Greek. This man grew on me overtime. His mouth got dirtier over the course of the book, overall thoroughly impressed with Vas.
My heartless soul was incredibly intense and some scenes were very descriptive. This book has the most triggers in the entire series. IT IS INCREDIBLY ENCOURAGED TO READ ALL TRIGGERS BEFORE READING THIS BOOK!!!!
Genre: Romance Book tropes: -workplace romance -single dad -anti-hero FMC -troubled past -relationship of convenience -tortured hero -fake relationship
What a wonderful way to start the year!!!! @daisythornauthor you’ve captured my heart in this book.
My Heartless Soul was beyond my wildest imagination. This book made me angry, happy, sad, bossy, sassy and so many other emotions. I loved how it touched on family in all forms; birth family, foster family, adoption etc. Often times I think we forget families are created in a variety of ways and Daisy touched heavily on this topic in a beautiful way.
Bring out your best black suit, heels and inner sexy because babbbbbbyyyy Mr. Levidis has a very dirty mouth and I love it 🔥 Mix his dirty mouth with The Boss herself Ms. Kira’s hard cold exterior and everything around you is sure to melt. This was an amazing story of rising from the ashes and walking through the fire …… not alone.
This whole series has been so good. I got selected to be an arc reader for the 3rd and final book in the Demons of NY series. The 3 books are interconnected standalones so you don’t have to read them in order. I just like reading them in the order they are so I don’t spoil the others for me. I fell in love with all 3 of the books. This being the best one honestly. Daisy Thorn has a way with words to take real life trauma/ issues and beautifully crafting them inside of these novels. I always start off the book thinking I’m going to hate a character, but by the end I end up loving them! I’m so sad the series is over! I’ve experienced so many emotions reading all of them but especially My Heartless Soul! Easily a 5 star read for me!!
This book hit so, so hard. My Heartless Soul follows Kira, a famous chef, and Vassar, her employee and single dad, who must fake date to get the media off of Kira’s back. This book deals with many heavy topics such as abuse, infertility, and much more, but all of this was very well written. I don’t cry when I read, but this book got me extremely close. Once I got 15% into the book, I started binging it. The characters felt real in the way that they didn’t do anything that didn’t make sense for them. The family dynamic between Vas, Kira, and Victoria (Vassar’s daughter) was so wholesome, and the happily ever after felt more than well deserved after everything Kira went through. If it isn’t obvious, I’m attached to these characters, and I definitely will be going back and to read the other two books in this series!
The only thing that didn’t work for me was that the first two chapters had a lot of telling instead of showing, but it wasn’t much of a problem after these two chapters. The writing style does address the audience quite often, but after I got used to it, it also wasn’t a problem.
PS. Thank you Daisy Thorn for the ARC in exchange for my honest review!
I don't know where to even start...this was the perfect ending to a series. Daisy completely put everything into this one, and it 100% shows. This book completely wrecked me and then pieced me back together. Kira, Vas, and Vee will hold a special place in my book soul forever. We have a FMC, Kira who builds herself into a HIGHLY successful restaurant owner and chef after enduring heart breaking childhood trauma. Let's just say she would give Gordan Ramsey a run for attitude. Plus, she loves to torture her most hated (or most obsessed with?) emoloyee she cannot seem to break no matter what she throws at him... Switch over to our MMC, who struggling to care for his mother and sister, while also being single dad. Vass is doing everything to make sure his daughter is loved and cared for. OH, OH, he also hates (hates to love?) his boss he nicknamed " Ursula the witch".... Throw them together and you have a beautiful disaster love story full of reluctance to trust, healing, self discovery, and so much more! Not to mention that Vee is the perfect little mermaid that there ever was. This is easily my first 5/ read of 2024.
Oh My Goodness Kira and Vassar absolutely shattered me.
“I love you. I love you like I’ve never loved anyone else. I’ve loved you for a long time. And all I heard now was a story of the strongest woman I know. A story of a survivor.”
From anger and irritation at how mean she could be, to heartbroken for them both for what they have had to endure, to tears when the sweetest little girl warmed an icy heart 💜
“You gave me all this, Vas. You pulled me out of that ocean, and you gave me life.”
@daisythornauthor fantastic job with pouring your heart and soul into these characters and letting us get to know them ❤️❤️
This is my first book that I’ve read by Daisy Thorn and I really enjoyed it. I went into it without reading the first 2 books and I’d say it’s ok to read as a standalone. I didn’t feel like I was in the dark because I didn’t read the first 2. I loved all of the angst between Kira and Vassar. I think it kept everything interesting. There were some things throughout the book that left you wondering what was going on, but it was explained in detail so I didn’t feel like I was left hanging with anything. I truly enjoyed this book.
WOW!! This book tore my heart out, stomped on it & mended it back together. TALK ABOUT TRAUMA RESPONSES! Daisy this was great! This relationship sucked me in immediately. They don’t want to want each other, but man do they need each other. Seeing how each of them worked through their trauma to grow individually & separately was beautiful. Every character in the book was *chefs kiss*. Thank you for sharing this story with us. It touches on some really hard topics, but you wrote it beautifully. And you gave a voice & a light on issues that need to be looked at. Thank you!
