How My Krynch Saved Christmas: An Otherworldly Christmas

Rate this book
One bitter, disillusioned, post-menopausal human female who’s experienced so much pain that she can’t even enjoy Christmas anymore.

One large, green, alien bounty-hunter with a no-nonsense attitude who wants nothing more than to slip onto the forbidden planet (Earth), capture his targets and get out before anyone notices he’s there.

One very irritable, grouchy cat named Satan Claws, who tolerates no one but the woman who liberated him from the shelter.

Can they somehow all manage to save each other, and maybe Christmas, too, while they’re at it?

This is a fun, quick, Christmas story of only about 25,000 words that is meant to make you smile.

I write Paranormal, SciFi and Fantasy Romance. Why, you may ask? Romance, because who doesn’t love a good romance, and the lack of reality in the story lines - because, well, normal is highly overrated. I’m 55, I have two kids, one 32 and one 12 (yes, God does have a sense of humor), one grandchild, one husband, and a menagerie of animals. Literally, too damn many things that eat wandering around our property. I love to cook, and I am a voracious reader, though since I started writing I don’t get as much time to read as I once did. I am a homebody and prefer my writing/reading time to a crowd. I have had stories and fictional characters wandering around in my head for as long as I can remember. I started letting them out into the real world and surprisingly, people have loved them. I am a Self-Published Author, and I like it that way because I can decide what and when to write. I am by no means a formal, polished, properly structured individual and neither are my stories. But people seem to love the easy emotion and passion that naturally flow from them. A bit of a warning though, there are some “triggers” in them that certain people should avoid. I’m a firm believer that you cannot have light without the dark. You cannot fully embrace the joy and elation that my people eventually find if you do not bear witness to their darkest hours as well. So please be sure to read the warnings supplied with each of the synopses about my books before you buy them. I've got three series published at this time, Avaleigh's Boys - PNR, Whispers From the Bayou - Fantasy PNR, Haven - a SciFi, and three more in process. I’m a bit sarcastic, scathing actually, and a smartass to boot, so if I offend you, it is most likely not intentional. But be prepared because it probably won’t be the last time. I’m always glad to hear from readers; those who have followed me from the beginning, and those who have just found my people. So feel free to look me up and say hello, or just follow along; either way, I’m glad to have you.

Good premise for FMC, not my fave MMC

Grace had lots of issues in her life post her husband leaving her for a younger woman. Her best friend was obsessed with playing matchmaker and I kind of hated her. Why would you try to force your BFF to be engaged in activities that bring up ugly memories? Like, just let it alone.
Krynch had some potential, but he felt one dimensional. Their romance was a bit lacking. There’s fast burn and then there’s whatever happened here. A couple hours together maybe. They had potential as a couple, but they barely knew each other.

Spice: 3/5

Triggers: home invasion, cheating (off page, ex spouse), DV (off page, not of FMC), violence

This is a sweet, alien, Christmassy romance featuring an older fmc and a cat called Satan Claws the Murder Floof. Insta-love isn't really my thing, but this was pretty cute. 🎄

4 1/2 stars This is one of my favorites of the Christmas themed stories I’ve read so far. Grace is a hoot as she goes about adapting to her new reality and fulfilling other’s expectations.

Grace is understandably bitter that her ex, who insisted they not have children, knocks up a younger woman and divorces Grace. She doesn’t miss him as much as the lost opportunity to have the family of her dreams since she’s now in her fifties and past child bearing.

Grace drinks too much at a costume themed block party. (Her friend Bethany is beyond annoying in her insistence that Grace socialize and keeps trying to set her up with men) She decides to walk home after grabbing one last bottle of wine.

Krynch is an alien bounty hunter looking for three escapees who have fled to earth. He and Grace meet by happenstance and he realizes she is his fated mate.

Grace had dissed her ex in front of everyone at the party so he breaks into her home intending to seek revenge. Krynch is there, however, and between he and Grace’s giant Maine Coone cat, send the guy bloodied and broken back to the street. Krynch and the cat form an alliance and the cat warns him when one of his targets shows up outside Grace’s house. Krynch needs to turn his captives over so tells Grace he has to leave but will return. Once again feeling abandoned she lets her self-hate and former betrayal send her back into depression.

To her surprise and delight Krynch keeps his word and they reunite to have a much deserved HEA. Her ex also gets his just desserts.

A great HEA for a 50+ woman

I did not realize until I'd finished this story that it was by an author I already have purchased from, but that made it all the better for me.

This is not your typical 20-something MFC, which is a refreshing change. We have instead a 50+ divorcee, broken-hearted and completely despairing now that it is too late for her dreams of a family to come true. Her former husband of 20 years refused to ever have children with her, only to announce one Christmas Eve that he was leaving her for his much-younger now-pregnant mistress.

Alone with her enormous, surly white cat and facing another horrible Christmas, she is lovingly bullied by her best friend into attending the neighborhood holiday party....which she once loved and now detests. Being home alone is preferable to being surrounded by happy couples--or being fixed up with yet another insincere single male "friend".

She attends the party dressed as the Grinch, hoping to be left alone so she can make a speedy departure...but her horrible ex crashes the party in an effort to humiliate her more.

Meanwhile, a big green alien bounty hunter tracking three fugitives to Earth has arrived in the neighborhood and witnesses the ex's terrible treatment of her. His plan to catch his prey and depart ASAP suddenly changes...as does this lonely, hopeless woman's life--even if she doesn't know it yet.

I only wish this had been a bit longer with the HEA, as you want so much to see her happy after getting to know her through her pain.

A deserving 5 stars.

This book was a cute but ridiculous take on the Grinch.

Grace is a 54 year old menopausal woman, whose husband cheated and left her on Christmas Eve, 4 years ago. She is extremely sarcastic and more than a little bitter about the whole thing and is now a huge grinch about the entire Christmas Season. She reminds me ALOT of that old comic strip character Maxine…

Anyway, she’s a grouch and super mean to everyone she meets. I think we’re supposed to sympathize and love her for it but I can’t say I found her too endearing. She’d be funny to hang out with but her pessimistic attitude would wear on you.
A green alien bounty hunter stumbles on her and does actually find her endearing and its insta-love for the grinchy couple.
What? An alien? She doesn’t miss a beat, like, “nothing to see here”…..
It all comes together in a cute holiday ending where the hottie alien is super in touch with his emotions and goes all out to celebrate Christmas with his holiday-hating cat-lady. A million lights and a multitude of Christmas trees, this guy surprises her with a spaceship full of Christmas, where they can celebrate it every day of the year.

It was my first and probably last time reading this author. I love sarcasm and hottie-aliens but wasn't feeling the characters AT ALL and I appreciate a bit more steam with my fluffy alien books.

I liked the fact that the female character named Grace who has gray/white hair and has gone through menopause meets her alien mate. Grace is disillusioned when her ex-husband leaves her for another women who he got pregnant. He didn't want children when they were together. So she dresses up as a grinch, green make up and all, and goes to her friend's house for a Christmas party. She leaves the party when her ex crashes the party and then Krynch comes into the picture which is exactly what she and her cat called Satan Claws need. When he finishes his mission and comes back to get Grace, she finally realizes he's a good guy (or alien) and they have their happily ever after. I loved the ending!

Holiday goodness here for your reading pleasure!
I totally get Grace’s perspective about Christmas, considering her life experience. I’m thrilled to see her attitude begin to change upon meeting Krynch. I love the way they meet and slowly fall in love. Can she trust another guy with her heart? You’ll have to read to find out. I adore her Maine Coon, Satan Claws - he’s my hero. That’s one smart kitty! This book really helps put me in the mood for the holidays! I am positive you’ll love Grace and Krynch’s story as much as I did!

This book was SO fun! Grace is REALLY a true grump! I really didn't like her in the beginning, but I started to see her plight as things played out and she grew on me. I loved Krynch! He was all commanding, alpha, has things under control, and such a cinnamon roll to Grace. She doesn't trust anything, even Krynch. Her cat had me cracking up frequently during the story. This book was so humorous, sexy, and spicy. It left a big smile on my face! The ending was touching and wrapped this story up with a bow. Fun beta read! 4.5 stars, 3 spicy

A Green Hero—Awesome!!!

Grace’s ex-husband Edward ruined Christmas for her by leaving her on Christmas Eve. Dressed as a snarky Grinch at her friend’s holiday party, Graces over indulges on the wine and argues loudly with Edward before retreating back to her home. Good thing Krynch. an alien bounty hunter with real green skin, is waiting near her home to capture the last fugitive. Enjoy how Krynch, Grace and her cat Satan Claws meet, handle a break-in by her ex, Edward, and savor steamy, unforgettable moments!!!

How My Krynch Saved Christmas

Loved that the FMC is an older woman in her 50's! Her husband cheated, got another woman pregnant after refusing to have children with her, and is abusive to her when she finally tells him off. A Green alien male whoops her ex for threatening her and comforts her as she she can't stand Christmas as it brings back all her ex has done to her. Her hero restores her faith in males, love, and Christmas!

Um ok! I liked this a lot. Grace is a mature FMC at 53, which I feel like I don’t see much of in romance books. Her cat is named Satan Claws the Murder Floof 🤣 how do you not laugh at that?! Krynch is very much a golden retriever, has “if he wanted to he would” and touch her and 💀 actions. And I very much appreciated friend Bethany, she wanted to help find happiness for her friend, and I love what Bethany did in the 4 months later scene.

Romance & Retribution

I loved it! I felt so sorry for Grace, she was really depressed and devastated until Krynch came into her life. How adorable was his trying to romance her and the aftermath. I’m glad the Rat got what was coming to him. This was a fun read and I’m glad I ordered it.

Cute Story

I really enjoyed reading this story. I especially liked that the woman was in her fifties. As much as this is fiction, it's still nice to be able to identify in some way with the characters. There are some serious aspects; however, overall, it's a cute feel-good story and a quick read. I highly recommend it.

This book is a very fun and light hearted alien romance. Perfect for a quick lunch break read. Gotta love satan paws the murder floof who is basically grumpy cat on steroids . Do yourself a favor and read this story while enjoying a peppermint latte. Merry Christmas!

So middle aged divorcee is done with her ex and his garbage. And done with Christmas. When she meets a cinnamon roll protective alien, she thinks they share a love of the grinch. Sweet, and a happy ending that really ties

it's a green Christmas

And the Krynch sure knows how to celebrate. Smart, sweet alien that he is, he looked it up. And made all his Grace's Christmas wishes come true. (Presumably, Satan Claws the Murder Floof's too, although the cat isnt't telling...) Awww, how purrfect!

A Chance Of Happiness

This was a different kind of book. I enjoyed the story line and the characters. What I really like was the cat Satan Claws. He made me laugh with his adorable self. Also, how Edward got his butt kick. Now that was very funny. Great reading.

not for me

This book just didn’t do it for me. It was a weird mix and I just had a hard time imagining it. It was out there and I just didn’t feel the connection. Also, she wasn’t a very likeable character. Just not my cup of tea.

Cute story!

“There is nothing I wouldn’t do for you. Making your wishes come true, our life, our younglings, and me,” he said humbly with a lift of his shoulder, “is my gift to you.”
This is what we all want to hear!

Good

Okay so I really adored Grace. But my thing here was more of the point of view. It's almost a distant narrator format with inconsistent pov switches. Granted I'm not a huge fan of the instalove but overall I enjoyed the story a lot.

delightful

Thoroughly enjoyed this wee story. Nice to read a story with an older heroine who gets everything she’s ever wanted, after tough times. And the hero sounds amazing. It would make a great Christmas movie!
