With Christmas just around the corner, I’m ready to be done. Done thieving and done working for Shark, the crime boss whose money saved my mom’s life five years ago. I put my life on hold to be his personal thief in an attempt to pay him back.
But no more. One more job, and then I’m finally free.
Except I’m not the only one breaking and entering that night. When I come face-to-face with a loaded gun and the handsome hitman behind it, everything changes.
It was supposed to be one final hit before the holidays, so the last thing I expect is a little thief to come sneaking around. The plan is to put a bullet in the thief’s head. I’m not one for witnesses.
Only the thief intrigues me, so I let her go.
But I have to make sure she doesn’t tell anyone our little secret, so it’s not the last time we see each other. Good thing I’m off until the new year, so my little thief and I have nothing but time together.
Hey guys! I'm a writer, an office worker, a wife, a mother to two dogs and two cats, and half of a strange pair of young adults who flip the houses they're living in with the goal of having no mortgage (so that I can eventually focus on my writing career!). Needless to say, I'm busy.
Still, I somehow find time to write, to read, and to enjoy life. Wish there were more hours in the day, really!
If you're active on Goodreads and have similar interests, friend me. I don't bite. Or if you'd rather follow my reviews, you can do that, too.
This was so freaking cute! We have an unexpected meeting between a thief and a hitman - and sparks fly! One look, and Nikolas is instantly obsessed. And of course, Grace picks up on the chemistry right away too! I love the dyanmic between these two.
Candace snuck a few nods to her other series in there, which was a nice surprise for this little standalone.
If you're looking for something sweet and steamy - with a dash of possessive psycho - this holiday season, look no farther!
This was an unplanned and unexpected read but I needed to finish a challenge and here we are. I wasn't blown away by this book, but it was good. It had a weird warm and cozy feel, even though the main characters were an assassin and a thief.
Nikolas is a cold blooded assassin who is in the middle of a job when Grace breaks into the same house to rob the victim. They meet in the hallway and although Grace is convinced he will kill her, Nikolas sees something else in her and decides to let her go - with an expectation.
Nikolas forces himself into her life, and although she resists, she doesn't seem to really mind. When her boss decides the last job for her to do, and weasels HIS way into her life, she realizes how trapped she is.
The book ends with an HEA, unexpectedly falling in love and h being taken care of by the big, handsome assassin. There are lots of sexy scenes and some somnophelia. One mention of parents being murdered (Jon Wick/Punisher type situation).
A thief and a hitman meet in an unexpected way, which develops into something neither one imagined. A romance in the rough world of mobsters with a Christmassy background. 🎅
I love Candace and this was a perfect book for something when you don't want too dark or too serious. Of course some people might think an assassin and a thief equals serious, but for Candace this was light. I truly enjoyed it. The perfect alpha male who was 🥵 and fell hard for his girl. Just a good love story. As always love getting little hints of previous characters.
This isn’t the typical darkness that is created by this author. However, it is absolutely perfect for us dark romance readers that need a perfect palette cleanser.
Personally, I hope this becomes a seasonal gift from her to us dark romance readers. We all need a swoon worthy anti hero for the holidays.
Brilliant read. Grace has one more job to complete and then she will be finally free. She has done the hard slog and come out fighting. But her boss has other ideas and she is put up against an adversary she is unable to defeat. Grace has choices to make while most of them are stripped away. brilliant read.
No one makes me fall in love with psychopaths and killers quite like Candace Wondrak. This was such a fun read and I am really glad I took a chance on this story since I typically don't enjoy holiday stories. This one was just perfect!
Not what I was expecting .... This is a quick holiday spicy posessive hitman.holiday read " he's here for me ,and he's going to show me the grim reaper f**ks like a God 🥵😉 so go on read. U know you wanna

I loved this book! The hitman and his thief stole my heart in this cute Christmas novella! Fantastic writing, as always, by this author. I also loved the ties to her psycho universe.
It's the perfect time to read a holiday love story about a thief and a hitman and Nicholas (not Nik) is so perfect (swoon) Highly recommend this dark festive love story
And if you try to run, let me warn you you wouldn't make it far. I always catch my prey, Grace.
This is my second time reading this and I enjoyed it just as much. After going to a loan shark to save her dying mom, Grace finds herself in a debt. The story starts as Grace is trying to complete her last job of stealing from some guy her loan shark named. Well, Grace walks in on a hitman instead. The hitman, named Nikolas, decides he found exactly what he's been looking for.
I can't remember ever feeling like this, not once in my life. Maybe it's due to the fact that this man is the grim reaper incarnate, and he's for me.
