Where Love Grows

Rate this book

When Becca Reynolds heads for rural Georgia to investigate a suspected crop insurance scam, she's concerned about her career, not her heart.

Chief among the suspects is handsome Ryan MacIntosh, who isn't telling everything he knows. Could his involvement possibly be deeper than his devotion to his grandmother and the small farm that's been in the family for generations?

Becca can't be sure, even though she knows Ryan intimately--at least online. She's certain he's the charming stranger with whom she's exchanged countless e-mails--and fallen in love. But she can't admit the truth any more than Ryan can--nor predict what it will cost them in the end.

Though she was a lifelong scribbler, Cynthia Reese finished her first manuscript in 2005 as the result of a December 2004 New Year's Resolution. That manuscript wound up tucked safely under her bed…and she went on to write three more manuscripts in 2005, one of which became The Baby Wait, her first of four published novels.

She lives in rural Georgia with her husband and their daughter, whom they adopted from China in 2002. When not at the computer, Cynthia spends the time with her daughter and her husband and often serves as a referee to the three family cats, two dogs, and two goldfish and the critters' inevitable squabbles.

Besides writing, she loves to read just about anything, even the back of the cereal box. It's a good thing she can write, because she can't dance, can't sing and her cooking is spotty at best—but her family loves her anyway.

If she ever found oil under the petunias, she'd hire a personal chef and a housekeeper, travel the world to all the places she's always wanted to see…and never feel guilty again for curling up with a good book instead of doing the laundry.

Je me souviens avoir dévoré ce roman. Pourtant, quelques années après, j’ai voulu le relire et je me suis surprise à ne pas réussir à embarquer dans l’histoire. Donc, je suis mitigée sur la note.

I bought this for my Kindle and finished it the same day with tears in my eyes. Not Harlequin’s usual category romance, Where Love Grows is a romance in the traditional sense, yes, but also defies those traditions with a heroine who’s been knocked around a few times and still lands on her feet. In a rural farming community threatened by a crop-choking weed, a dedicated insurance investigator falls for a down-home farmer, whose grandma, “Mee-maw” made me miss my own MeeMa, right down to her cast-iron frying pan. I loved this story.

Nice story. More of it was investigating the insurance fraud than the romance. The hero is a Georgia farmer, the heroine is an insurance investigator for a crop insurance company. It was interesting, but it would have made a better mystery than a romance, IMO. I didn't get enough romance to believe they really fell in love. I liked the story. It just wasn't much of a romance, even though it was better than a lot of the cozy mysteries I've read. I liked it.
