These are some of my favourite books. The Aternien Wars books were the first books by Ogden I read and I loved them (I've since read many more of his). The characters are both fun and relatable. I find the pacing well developed, high action often followed by introspective moments that allow the reader to catch their breath. The plot is easy to follow with a few twists that you don't always see coming. This may be science fiction, but Ogden has a deep understanding of humanity, flaws and all, and does not shy away from showing us our prejudices, as well as those who find a way to rise above them. He is one of the few authors who has genuinely made my cry (Metalhaven series). I'm looking forwards to next books in this series.

How to rate.
I struggled with the rating on this series as the books are riddled with typos, I mean hundreds, I corrected a few but decided that it was too distracting and focused on enjoying the story instead, I love G .J. Ogdens storytelling so rather than 3 stars decided on four as the storyline was enjoyable.
But G.J. if you even bother with these ratings, and you should, then do better, there's no reason to have so many misspelled and repetitious words like that.
Just saying that's all. get a better editor if you have to.

Better than great
From the very beginning Master Commander Carter Rose, (Retired, put out to pasture). Had become a recluse on a small moon near Terrain 9. While hunting a strange pig type animal, 8 feet tall, is interrupted by a Major from the Union . Who's mission is to get him to rejoin the Navy that cast him and his crew out!
This is binge able, exciting, defiantly a great read!

Decent character development, good action
I found this similar to some other “Super Soldier” stories - - the hero can absorb all sorts of physical damage that is almost instantly healed - - making a lot of the fight sequences rather “ho-hum” reading. Frankly, there was, for my taste, too much action with too little “behind the scenes” development. Good stories, but I think they could be better.

MUST be made into a series!
A ripping series that is what SciFi is all about. Stretching the boundaries of imagination, and giving us a five book read that doesn’t let up with everything you need to stay fully captive in each and every page.
Five ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ stars is a given for a magnificent series.

Enjoyable Space Opera
After reading the first book in this series, I bought the rest of the set. I'm glad i did. It's a great read with lots of action and really enjoyable and deeply developed characters. I would have given it a five-star rating but the biological enhancements for the main character, Carter, made him so superhuman that losing seemed almost impossible.

Pretty Much Unreadable
If you loved Star Wars or Stargate and their ilk, then this is for you. I quit after 200 pages when the hero resuscitated his tiny personal drone (r2d2) who then blew a "raspberry" at him for having been left alone... Really? Then there is a "cab driver" wearing a baseball cap driving a clunker a la 1957...along with 100 other outdated riffs.

One of the better military series
Well thought out action, drama and personal interactions. A couple little burbles, the author gets stuck on a word sequence and repeats it often …. Many writers do. It doesn’t ruin the story, and few will notice.

Great book. A bit convoluted and hard to keep straight .
Because it is so long, I had trouble keeping all the character names straight Perhaps it doesn't need quite as much creativity in sssign in mg character names.

What an engaging, exciting story. I’m anticipating a continuation of this ending with the villain Nathan as center stage and our old crew as heroes again.

Spelling and agreement
The plot and action were excellent, but there were so many word endings for nouns, pronouns, and verbs which were not in agreement with their antecedents that I was constantly re-reading to understand the author's intent. As a speed reader, this is very disruptive to me. It occurs an average of every couple of pages. I suggest the author have his material read by an actual human than by a spell-checker or grammar checker.

For me the books lacked a bit of substance. There was plenty of action and the plot was good but there was little depth to the story. It felt like an 80's bond film as series a loosely coupled action scenes with a bare thread holding them together.
