A murdered girl matches the MO of a serial killer already in jail.
Missing pages form a message that the wolves need to decipher before Miranda Industries get their hands on it.
Eleri and Donovan have one case but more problems than they can count. Too many links call them back to old cases and bring up new questions about their boss. Whose side is he on anyway when all his agents distrust him? Is he pulling threads only he can see? Or is something more sinister guiding his directives?
Threats come from every direction… even in their dreams.
Eleri and Donovan won’t survive this one easily. If at all.
This is the twelfth installment in the NightShade Forensic FBI Files.
Compelling. One of my favorite books in the series. Excellent character development and intriguing plot. The results of an evil experiment just keep popping up for Eleri and Donovan as well as a mysterious parchment which may contain a horrific spell . . .
If you haven’t read the Nightshade series, go back and start now. I’m jealous that you’re going to be reading it for the first time. For me, a lover of suspense, science, FBI agents, strong women, smart men, and a touch of supernatural without zombies, this is the perfect series. Atlas Legacy brings in elements from everything that has been building up … wait, they were always connected? I need to reread the series. Also, the touch of supernatural has grown a whole lot, but there are still no zombies.
I couldn't stop reading! AJ Scudiere has done it again and I am so caught up in the lives of Eleri and Donovan. Working a serial killer case that my have ties to a previous case has the agents traveling across the country to track down leads. Some of their suspects might just be more than the specialized team of agents can handle. Book 12 of the NightShade series is just as much of a page-turner as the rest!
The Axis Legacy, A J Scudiere Another superb story by this writer. The continuation of Nightshade division of the FBI special investigations with Donovan & Aleri, Walter, CJ and Westerfield. Paranormal plus a mystery and child slavery. As a reader you cannot truly guess what happens next and you are glued to the book until you finish it all too soon.
Criticisms: Overuse of F bombs (but that's just me) and cliffhanger-ish ending. We get a conclusion, but there are still questions.
Plot no spoilers: Years ago a man was tried and convicted for the murder of several children. The complete details of his M.O. were not released, he's still in prison under heavy protection and has no communication with the outside, and yet someone has been committing nearly identical crimes.
The Nightshade Paranormal Branch of the FBI has been called in to investigate because of the disturbing connections between these and the older crimes as well as the apparent involvement of an evil organization.
Eleri and Donovan are working with GJ and Walter trying to find missing pieces of parchment that appear to contain an ancient spell of some sort. Miranda Industries is using their considerable resources to beat them to the punch and will likely attempt to steal the pieces the team has already found. Amidst this, Eleri and Donovan get a call from their boss. A young girl has been murdered. Many things about the murder point to a known serial killer. There’s only one problem. He’s already in jail. And why do several aspects of the case point back to Miranda Industries and the ghastly things that took place in The Atlas Defect book? And why do Eleri and Donovan have questions and doubts about their boss? He couldn’t be involved, could he? This story is a roller coaster ride as Eleri and Donovan have to investigate the murder while making sure GJ and Walter are protected from Miranda Industries attempts to steal their pieces of parchment. It will take all of their resources and “special talents” to untangle this complex web. Buy, Read, and enjoy!
Everything is connected. There's a lot of information shared in this book so I took my time reading it. As always, the story line is excellent and I like that we got a glimpse of all of the Nightshade agents. If you like this series, you'll love this book.
This series is amazing, Nightshade is a thrill ride. The characters are addictive and you don't want to miss anything. The possibilities are endless, each thread reveals more and continues to be full of surprises.
Phew! I just climbed off the AJ roller coaster and my legs are still shaking! A jam packed thrill ride filled with abductions, child "super soldiers", murder, intrigue, a healthy dose of the supernatural, epic battle scenes, and an ending that left me desperate for more! Our heroes have to step up their game as their villains become darker and more powerful. The only thing wrong with this book? It ended. I will impatiently be awaiting the next one! Fantastic read!
Axis Legacy Review Review by Felix Bearden At a time when people seem to accept lies dressed in truths clothing, corporations promote anti Judaeo Christian over traditional values, sports organization permit unfair competition between the biological different competitors, and supposedly justice is meted out depending on political party, it is refreshing to read a book where a group of people with special “talents” seem to uphold principles that I believe are true to those on which the United States was formed. Of those “You shall not murder” and “Suffer the little children” seem to be prominent. That Eleri and Donovan, and the others in the team, were able to find and destroy at least one source of an evil discovered as a result of their investigation of the death of one child warms the heart of this old man and gives hope that there still exists a morality as expressed by AJ Scudiere. There are a few items that remain unresolved, however. Who actually killed Haley Coburn? Who actually funded the school for “talented” children? What ultimately happened to Avery’s sister? Why did Eleri want to visit the school they had just destroyed, and what did they find? But then, it encourages the reader to look for the next in the NightShade series.
Axis Legacy provides another fabulous chapter in the story of Eleri and Donavan. It is a pleasure seeing how all of the Nightshade books fit together, telling one colossal story. While each one certainly works as a stand-alone story, the author's ability to draw the reader along with tantalizing pieces of the larger story truly sets this series apart from most suspense/thriller series. While most series have recurring characters, they tend to have each book be more singularized. In this aspect, this series is more like a fantasy series. Each book fits together to create a singular all-encompassing story.
I will say that the Axis Legacy seems to tell more of the larger story rather than a smaller case. I felt it left a little too much unanswered in the stand-alone story. I certainly did enjoy the cliffhanger at the end of the book. I cannot wait until the next part of the series comes out.
I would give this story 4 1/2 stars and recommend it to all fans of suspense/thrillers, especially those with a bit of the supernatural added into them.
I really wish that I had read earlier books in the series; as this was my first one I did find it a little bit confusing, to be honest. I have read several of this author's books before, though, so when I got the chance to read this one, I was keen to do so. My tip: read the other books in the series first!
Eleri and Donovan are on the case of a murdered girl. Only problem is that the MO matches someone who is already in prison. Both of these agents have some extra skills that the standard human doesn't have and I found that aspect of this book the most interesting, how their talents came into play with the solving of the murder. They made a good team.
I felt for them though, having to set up in dodgy motel rooms whilst still trying to do their jobs.
The Axis Legacy by A. J Scudiere is the 12th book in the Nightshade FBI series. This one feature Eleri and Donovan as the main characters. We do see the rest of the characters that we are familiar with in the book. We are getting close to an answer to all the questions. I do feel that this one is not really a standalone and you will get more enjoyment if you read them in order. Each one seems to build on itself. This is not a hardship. This series is engrossing and keeps you wanting more. The story flows. I am anxious to read the next one. I heard that there will be fifteen books in the series so hope we will have a conclusion. I give these four stars --
This is a wonderful addition to this thrilling series! Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building that adds so much to the story. Such a thrilling read that I couldn't put it down. Can't wait to read more of these. Recommend reading.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
This is another book in the Night Shade FBI series. How do these books keep getting better?! Remember to read this series in order; AJ has done a great job of building these characters over the years, and this book pulls in many characters we've met from previous books. No spoilers, but the ending of this book? Wow. My mind is going in so many directions thinking about what it could mean.
Latest in her ongoing series and is probably the best of them- Eleri and Donovan and assorted cast and crew are challenged as never before with enough plot twists to keep even a die hard thriller fan happy - Scudiere’s training in Forensics keeps the plot believable and I am and will continue to be looking for her to write more books in this series. Excellent work as always!!
The Axis Legacy is a complex, well-written book, with all your favorite NightShade cast of characters. It also includes characters from other NightShade adventures including some from Miranda Industries, the Dauphine sisters, and the deGottardi/Little family. There are lots of story lines, so be prepared to immerse yourself in one of the best and most detailed stories from A.J. yet!
Eleri and Donavan are investigating a murder of a little girl who vanished at 2 1/2 years old but her recovered body says she lived to be about 7 years old. Where was she for those 5 years?
Scudiere comes full force again in #12, keeping the reader as much on their toes as she does our intrepid cast of characters. Clear your schedule and hold on tight, it only gets deeper from here. 🐙
Loved the book. Eleri and Donovan are a great partnership. The FBI group are amazing. The excellent wrap up of the so explained, a lot. Very good story!
