I always thought I had been born a hundred years too late, but I do appreciate air conditioning, computers and other conveniences of modern day living. I love the slower pace of New Bern, North Carolina as well as the history and small town community. Imagine a neighborhood where people wave at one another and keep eye out for the children. It's like living in the 1950s. In addition to dreaming up my next story, of which there are always two or three in the works, I enjoy reading everything from children’s books to romance to mysteries to vampire adventure, singing in my church choir and needle-weaving.

I love to hear from readers at coopermckenzie@ymail.com.

Twisted Beasts is coming!!

This time,it’s Sinistre Ange’s turn, and seeing the ARC of Omega and the Beast was a very welcome gift.
I already loved the other stories of this Anthology, and i knew i would love Sinistre Ange’s story just as much.

In a small village near the cursed forest lived Callista and her father.
He was a traveling salesman, which was handy as she grew older.
Because it meant he could get the suppressants she needed to keep her Omega a secret.
Until, one day,he didn’t return….and father Conal came to their house.
Claiming her father was probably gone,he stated she’d marry him to keep her safe.
Callista instead set out to find her father, hoping he’d still be alive….
But in the cursed forest, she found his carriage…..and footsteps leading away from it!
What she found was not her father, though….
No,she found exactly what she needed to ease her rising heat!

Adonis had resigned to live the rest of his cursed life alone.
Never finding the Omega that could break that curse.
So,finding Callista,in heat, was something he and his Beast could not resist.
Would she be the one to give him back his life?
She didn’t seem afraid of his Beast…..she embraced it!
And her reactions to his life story were sadness…..and anger.
Not at him,but at the ones responsible!
Could he dare hope for a solution?

Adonis was adorable…..when he wasn’t ravishing Callista,that is…
That Alpha/Beast knew what to do to make his little Omega beg for more!
And Callista was a tough little cookie,a perfect match to his Beast and him.
She knew what she wanted, and he was it,in all of his forms…
They were both só protective of eachother, would do anything to keep the other safe.
I loved this Beauty and her Beast!

Prey & Punishment is Cari Silverwood’s contribution to the anthology, and finding the ARC in my inbox was a véry special treat!
Knowing Cari,i settled in for a deliciously twisted story, one only she can come up with….

Everyone knows the Boogeyman.
Everyone fears the Boogeyman…..right?
So,when Yagar, aka said Boogeyman, decides Poppy needs punishment,he expects an easy job.
Hurt her, scare her,and threaten her to do it again when she sins again.
Only, she doesn’t seem to react the way she was supposed to…
When that leads to other….interesting….things,he’s not quite sure what to make of it.
Being followed home by the human girl?
That’s another first, and what to do about thát??
One thing he dóes know….he wants more of this intriguing girl!
Exploring what she likes is more fun than he expected, until she asks him a question he doesn’t have an answer to…..

Burning that car didn’t give Poppy the satisfaction she hoped for.
Knowing her sister Sian was hooked on drugs because of her boyfriend Finn, and didn’t want to even talk to her was slowly killing her.
Knowing there was nothing she could do,was even worse….
But being punished for her actions turned out to be exactly what the doctor ordered!
The creature that gave her said punishment, didn’t frighten her…..at all!
And the more she saw of him,the more she wanted him.
Until she asked him one very important question…..
Was there any way she could make him see her side???
Or was this just a temporary fling, and nothing more?

This was the kind of story that i could see Cari dream of for herself…..
I can totally see those posters on her wall, and her easy acceptance of what makes others cower in fear.
And the Boogeyman being this open to kinky fuckery was a véry pleasant surprise…..makes me want to sin a little, too.
Because i wouldn’t mind a visit from him…..

P.S. Mrs. Haversham was the kind of landlady i would love to have, and her dog was a cutie, lol

I have the ARC of Minette Moreau’s contribution to the Anthology!!!
If the other stories are as good as hers, and i know they will….i mean, just look at who’s contributing, this Anthology is going to be AWESOME!!

Beowulf’s Baker is the story of Eva,a human baker extraordinaire in a world of shifters.
A baker with a mission….but that doesn’t stop her from having a delicious one-night stand with the Alpha lion of the Barstow pride,Llyr. Even if she does have other plans for him in the near future…..
But Llyr isn’t the Alpha she thinks he is,and his pride isn’t what it used to be,even if some…bad elements…still remain alive.
But their numbers are dwindling, and soon there will be none left.
Only now Llyr is on the trail of the killer, and he plans to take action.
With Eva now in his house,in his arms,he knows exactly what he has to do.
And he’ll go to the ends of the world to give her everything she needs…..

This was a delicious story,a story of second chances,of finding a new family, and most importantly, finding someone to share the rest of your life with.
It sure makes me look forward to the others of this Anthology!

Bear’s Little CritterMaker - Cooper McKenzie - 3 stars!

Twisted retelling of The Little Match Girl. Noah is a bear shifter and finds his mate in sweet and timid Bailey who unbeknownst to him is in a bad situation. Bailey is attracted to Noah but doesn’t want to bring him into her mess of a life.

These two are sweet and the story was steamy. I enjoyed it.

“I love you, my sweet mate,” he said as he slid his hands under her ass and lifted her.

“I love you, too, my bear,” she said against his lips as she wrapped her arms and legs around his body.

Cinders - Bronwyn Judde - DNF - No Rating

This story felt a little too uncomfortable for me🤷🏻‍♀️. Just wasn’t my thing. But I am intrigued about this author and want to check out her backlist.

Omega and the Beast - Sinister Ange - 4.5 stars!

Twisted retelling of Beauty and the Beast. Callista finds herself at the mercy of Adonis but it ends up not being such a curse after all.

"Good girl. Don't worry, you're my Omega. You were meant to take this."

This was sweet! And steamy! Really enjoyed their HEA.

Bewulf's Baker - Minette Moreau - 3.5 stars!

Twisted retelling of Beowulf. Eva is looking for revenge and Llyr who she thinks is her enemy helps. These two don't even know what hits them.

“Mine.” His growl vibrated through my body as another blistering spank landed on my ass. “All mine. I want this sweet honey all over my face.”

Mostly enjoyable!

Prey and Punishment - Cari Silverwood - 4 stars!

Twisted retelling of The Boogeyman. Poppy and Yagar are fire! I didn't quite understand this story but it was steamy and entertaining!

“You are a slut for me, and I’ve never had one before. I like it.”

Cari always knows how to bring the heat!

Ruining Red - Vivian Murdoch - 5 stars!

Twisted retelling of Little Red Riding Hood. Teagan finds herself wandering through the wood and ends up as a sacrifice. But to be sacrificed to a wolf that's her other half? I'd say she came out on top...or bottom in her case lol.

“That’s it. That’s my good little omega. Now, open your legs wide for me. I want to touch you, to feel you come apart on my fingers.”

I LOVED THIS SHORT STORY. It was so hot and Conri was just the BEST alpha. LOVED!

My Review
My review is for Prey and Punishment by Cari Silverwood it's a short story in the Twisted Beasts anthology which is a collaboration of novellas from various authors. This was a novella-length tale and I definitely appreciated the unusual central theme of a bogeyman, Babai or night spirit, whatever you want to call it, being the love interest and hero here.

This was quirky and fun, weird as hell which I'll admit I'm partial to and despite some small darker aspects still felt sweet and fun. Be aware it's an explicit one and the filthy shenanigans were scorching and super hot with plenty of initial dubious consent and some extremely satisfying voyeurism.

I liked both central characters Yagar the monster turned out to be a real sweetie and went through quite the metamorphosis during the course of this and Poppy was also extremely likable.

It was also well written, intriguingly different and a very easy fun read. If you like your hero's monstrous in appearance and a complete sweetheart this definitely has you covered. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of Prey and Punishment.

Bear’s Little CritterMaker by Cooper McKenzie
This is a sweet retelling with plenty of heat. It really had me in my feels at moments.

Cinders by Bronwyn Judde
This is a smutty and twisted retelling of cinderella.
There is no denying the heat and kink in this story.

Omega and the Beast by Sinister Ange
This is HOT! Need I say more....???? I really enjoyed the interactions of Callista and her beast. There was also a sweetness to their story.

Beowulf’s Baker by Minette Moreau
Llyr and Eva have a heated story but also pack with action and drama. I really enjoyed the storyline to their story. The chemsitry was instant between these two but the story felt like it was slow going in the beginning.

Prey and Punishment by Cari Silverwood
Yagar and Poppy have some incredible chemistry. I love her sass and snark. I really loved this take on the retelling of the boogeyman. I hope there's more to come with these characters.

Ruining Red by Vivian Murdoch
I enjoyed Teagan and Conri's story. This was probably my favorite of the anthology. It is heated with a sacrifice, fate and a bit of taboo.

BEAR'S LITTLE CRITTER MAKER by COOPER McKENZIE
Cooper McKenzie is a new author to me and I didn't know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised by her world-building and character personalities where both were relatable. Bailey had an untenable home life and often took refuge in her being an evening home health care provider. Her patient had told her to crochet small animals and eventually talked her into selling them at the open-air market. Noah was a retired NFL player and owner of a working rescue farm. Oh, did I mention he's also a bear shifter? When the manager of the open-air market put Bailey's table next to Noah's and asked him to assist if she needed it, neither Noah nor Bailey realized their worlds were about to change.

CINDERS by BRONWYN JUDDE
Bronwyn Judde is also a new author to me and her 'Cinders' is no bedtime story. The community within the Deep Dark Forest, aka DDF, were very kinky people and creatures and they all knew everyone's business. This one kept me wide-eyed throughout the entire story. Taboo, shocking, and hawt as blue blazes.

OMEGA AND THE BEAST by SINISTRE ANGE
Sinistre Ange always brings the heat and 'Omega and the Beast' is no exception. When Callista's father goes missing she is determined to search for him even though the leader of their village continues to preach about the evil, vile, Beast that lives in the woods. But Callista is keeping a secret and with the leader wanting to claim her, she has no choice but to run, otherwise, she'd be put to death.

BEOWULF'S BAKER by MINETTE MOREAU
In my mind, Minette Moreau always seems to have strong heroines with a sense of humor. Believe me when I say Eva has an agenda and she's been following it to the letter until she meets Llyr. There's an instant chemistry that Eva doesn't want to acknowledge but there's no way to ignore it. They have one fantastic night and rather than take her agenda out of order, she slips out while Llyr is sleeping, saving him for last. Llyr, on the other hand, is Alpha not only to his local pack but in charge of the Southeastern packs. It's taken him almost fifteen years to abolish and clean up the terror his parents instilled within the pack. Now, after all this time, members of the pack are being killed and they have no idea why or by whom. It's a great read.

PREY AND PUNISHMENT by CARI SILVERWOOD
Okay, there are many stories, tales, and myths about the Boogeyman but trust me, I don't think I've ever heard or read one that was portrayed like Cari Silverwood has given us. This has more of an edge to it than I anticipated but it was a great read with a creative storyline. Watching Poppy and Yagar come together initially and how it ends was quite a learning and growing experience. What did they go through? You've got to read it. You won't be disappointed.

RUINING RED by VIVIAN MURDOCH
I had no idea Red was an Omega until Vivian Murdoch introduced her version in 'Ruining Red'. This twisted tale brought to mind all the old-world magic and superstition that was behind the witch hunts. Teagan has always known she was different but she's in for the surprise of her life. Conri had been through this before, the village would send their sacrifice but something about this one was different. A bit taboo, a whole lot of hawt, and a great ending.

This anthology has everything if you like your romance or experience with a bit of darkness and taboo. I enjoyed every story with familiar, trusted authors and then introduced to a couple of new ones as well.

Prey & Punishment
By Cari Silverwood

This was a fast kinky story that I'm hoping we get Yagar's brother's stories. I'm hoping we get more of Yagar and Poppy's story, because even though it was a quick read there were thing's left open. Poppy is the big sister trying to look out for her younger sister Sian only for her sister to fall victim to the wrong people, so to get back she does something that warrants a visit from someone who's known as Wrath a babai...the bogeyman. He's been sent there to punish her ha lil did he know that she'd be into that. I couldn't help but love these 2 her with her snarkiness and her loyalty to helping her sister and him being enamored of his pet human. I don't think there's anything he wouldn't do for her.

This is a review for Prey and Punishment by Cari Silverwood. Can a wrathful, kinky girl find true love? Can a kinky, dominant boogeyman whose reason for existing is to punish wrathful girls find true love as well? You will have to read this short novella to find out. It’s kinda complicated, very kinky and sexy and kinda sweet and loving. Loved the premise of this story and kinda wish this boogeyman would come and visit me. If the rest of this anthology is as good as this story it will be money well spent. Off to find out. Definitely recommend based on Ms. Silverwoods story.

Reviewing Prey and Punishment by Cari Silverwood. Yager is a monster that punishes women for their sins and his next target is Poppy. When he goes to her house to make her pay for her sins, things don’t go quite as planned. What will happen when he starts to fall for the woman instead punish for the sins she has committed? Fast-paced read with loads of drama and sizzling chemistry. Fun and steamy with a side of sweet. I liked it.

Prey and Punishment- cari Silverwood as we like her best. Weird... sexy and a bit off the shoulder. Short story with a monster of your nightmares, a girl with bursts of anger and a decent dose of angst. Lets not forget the knowing neighbor. Loved her.

Bears little crittermaker - Cooper Mckenzie a new to me author. Aw, a story that touched my feels. A very sweet yet sad girl, a very sweet determined man. It all starts at a farmers market after our girl is given great advised and the help to hone her talent. Almost at the begin we see why that saying "we can't choose our family" comes in play. Easy flowing story, sad and happy and babies of the furry kind.

Cinder - Bronwyn Judde ok so this little story was very busy. Lol so many things going on with Cinders a odd, funny sexy take on a fav fairytale classic.

Omega and the Beast - Sinister Ange
Oh... somethin sketchy goings on in the village. A big bad beast and a beauty hiding a secret. Now things are going okay mostly for Callista up until its not. Her papa left to get the help she needed... the priest be having his eyes on the prize.

The thing about books like this is you have the chance to meet new authors. A wonderful group of authors and stories. Can't wait to read the rest of then Enjoy!!

Each and every story in this book will hold your attention, I absolutely loved most of them. There is a happy ending in each story.

Bear’s little critter maker by Cooper McKenzie
This was a really cute story, but also a sad story. Bailey is physically abused by her father that is rescued by her faded mate Noah, who is a bear shifter and recognises that she is his faded mate when he meets her at the farmers market when she is there to sell her crocheted critters. He is there to rescue her when she is severely injured by her father and he takes her away when she is released from the hospital to live with her and have a happily ever after knowing that she is safe and protected at all times.

Omega and the Beast by Sinister Ange
Callista is an omega, although this is a well kept secret from everyone other than her father. Her father Broderick went to buy her suppressants to keep hiding her omega status. Then Father Conal threatened her that he was going to take her as his mate, then she ran to find her father, which led her to the dark forest where the beast lived.
Adonis has a curse upon him to be a beast to live as a man by day and a beast by night, and this was put on him by Father Conal who wanted all the power of the villages, instead of the Alpha and omega having the people of the villages looking towards them for guidance. When he meets up with Callista in the forest, he recognises that she is his faded mate, and that she will be the reason why the curse will be lifted. That’s not the case at all, but they do defeat the curse and father Connell. there is a happily ever after for all involved.

Beowulf’s Baker by Minette Moreau
Llyr Barstow is a Lion shifter and the alpha of the Southwestern Prides and he knows Eva is his mate. Eva Andrews is a Smilodon shifter, who is seeking revenge on all the lion shifters who were responsible for her mother’s demise. She is removing them one by one, but Llyr has a plan to help her, but on his terms. This story unfolded slowly, but was full of action and drama, which I thoroughly enjoyed reading, there is a happy ending but there is lots of filthy bedroom activity along the way.

I was given an advanced copy of this book to read and I am reviewing with my honest and fair opinion.

Reviewing this for Cari Silverwood's story Prey and Punishment.

Cari wrote a story about what happens when the scary monsters who come to punish sinful humans fall in love with their prey, and I am here for it.
Delightfully spicy, and as sweet as a horror filled story can be, I read this in one sitting.

The author has a way with taking things that are dark and scary, and giving them more emotions than some author give their human characters. Great read, loved every second of it.

Cooper- I don't care for her writing style. DNF at chapter 8. I feel like her stories, are not for me.
Bronwyn- DNF. This wasn't appealing at all.
Sinister- Nope. This one didn't appeal to me either. DNF.
Minette- 3 stars. Corny in some areas. This author has a sense of humor.
Cari- I have to give this one 4 stars. Very weird. Never read a bogeyman romance before this one.
Vivian- 1 star. The story dragged. Chapter 8, finally had them getting physical. And even that was unappealing. DNF.

I read Prey & Punishment by Cari Silverwood so far in this Anthology, and the first thing I thought was, why can't all writers have this kind of creativity? While it wasn't derivative of her other stuff, it just pulsed of her signature magic. I could have easily read this without het name on it and I would have known it was her work. This short story in particular? It's her best work in my opinion.

It starts when Poppy meets Yagar, the Boogeyman who is tasked with punishing her for her Wrath that night. She lashed out at the man giving drugs to her sister Sian. Instead of being terrified of Yagar, Poppy calls him an "amateur" and "unscary" drawing his ire and curiosity. The two of them develop an unconventional relationship where Poppy is seemingly the stronger one. Poppy is waring initially about giving up her name, thinking "names have power," which drives Yagar crazy. Yagar becomes enamoured with Poppy.

"“Better. I like your hair.” The slanting rays of dying light washed through and gifted it a golden background. I blinked, watching as the smallest movement of her body made the light sparkle, then I reached out and let the strands that fell over her shoulder run through my fingers."

And Author Silverwood's strong feminist roots are in the forefront as Yagar continued to learn to "human" through Poppy. And Poppy wasn't going to back down from her thoughts and views as a strong young woman.

""I leaned toward Yagar, pressed my chin into his coat. “Tell me, why do you only punish girls?”
“Because we do,” he said without taking his eyes off the movie.
His inattention riled me. “That’s patriarchal nonsense. Gender inequality.”
“Oh.” Now he looked at me. “I’m not sure what all that means, but I will find out next time I’m at the library.”"

Then Author Silverwood steps up the story another notch by using that same feminism in fabulous dialogue with Yagar and a side character. This dialogue just blew me away on how well placed it was, and how it challenged Yagar. I don't want to spoil the story but I HAD to share it here.

"“It’s not so much that she disapproves of the job itself, although she does. And she doesn’t just dislike what I do now, she dislikes the things I’ve done, long before her time. I have already renounced those things, long ago, but it is not enough for her. I do not know what she wants me to do.” I scowled, then sighed. “She wants me to be something I am not.”
“Does she?” the old woman asked and squinted at me shrewdly. “Or do you?”

Poppy wasn't afraid of Yagar no matter what form he took, and that fascinated Yagar. I loved how Yagar had the chance to be more than a boogeyman, and Poppy had a chance to be more than a rageful sister. Yes, this story had some very hot, consensual scenes, but my favorite scenes were of Yagar " humaning." My favorite line was from Yagar:

"What was stopping me going further and getting more of the more?"

I found that part the most interesting, the non-human wanting to learn to be more human. Yes, its been done before, but this is different. Yagar didn't just want to be human. He wanted to be human through Poppy's eyes, and learn from her. Poppy did learn a lot from Yagar, but no spoilers! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

**My review is for Cari Silverwood’s Prey and Punishment. I can’t wait to read the other stories when the anthology releases.**

The Bogeyman Cometh…

Can a terrifying creature known around the world by many names according to folklore or legend be real and can this creature fall in love? Well, in Ms. Silverwood's fantastical world the answer is… well… surely you didn’t think I was going to tell you? The Bogeyman is a scary, sexy, treat just in time for Halloween from the Mistress of all things possible and boy does she deliver!!!

We are introduced to Poppy as she sits and waits for her latest handiwork with a drug dealer’s car to go BOOM… and then up in flames. She has decided to wage war against the drug dealers and their boss hoping to run them out of business in Wolstam. But in doing so, she has caught the attention of another who she is going to meet before the night is over.

Tall, dark, and scary with a mouth full of jagged teeth, Yagar is a bogeyman whose job is to punish women guilty of wrath and greed. His punishment can be in any manner he chooses and Poppy’s wrath has put her at the top of his list.

Poppy loves all things horror, from books and movies, to the terrifying monsters, especially the monsters. Her bedroom walls are covered in horror movie posters and she frequently fantasizes about having sex with a monster while looking at them in bed. In fact, she yearns for the experience. Yagar has followed Poppy home and waited for her to go to sleep so he can begin. After this night, nothing will ever be the same for either of them.

What follows is a tale about a feisty young lady with anger issues who isn’t afraid to go after what she wants and that’s Yagar. He, on the other hand, can’t understand Poppy’s behavior toward him and why he finds it so intriguing. She should be running away from him instead of chasing after. Poppy believes that Yagar has good in him and can learn to love. Yagar believes he’s too evil to ever be capable of loving anything or anyone.

So a bargain of sorts is struck between these two, each thinking they will win. Well now, we know that’s not going to happen, don’t we? I laughed, cried, and even felt sympathy for this mismatched couple but it was worth it. This naughty and nasty novella made me all hot and moist in my lady bits. And those of us who indulge in romance books know that is always a good sign of great writing. It's a delightful tale of finding love where you least expect it and being worthy of love whether it be a man, a beast, or in this case, a monster!!

Once again Cari has me wishing for something that I can’t have, my own personal bogeyman to play with. So, for now I’m left with just looking under my bed or out my window in the middle of the night hoping the bogeyman of my dreams will find me!!

This anthology delivered a good collection of beastly stories for the spooky season that kept me reading to the very last page. Prey and Punishment was intriguing, as there aren't a lot of good things to read about the Bogeyman out there but Cari Silverwood delivered a unique and compelling set of characters in this novella that would have taken many other authors a full novel to flesh out. Her gift with words and description, crafting a narrative so interesting, is why readers keep coming back for more. I LOVED Poppy and her actions plus the dialogue between her and Yagar was excellent.

Bears Little Crittermaker was another sweet and spicy addition from Cooper McKenzie that had me smiling in enjoyment as I read. Cinders by Bronwyn Judde introduced me to a new author in the best of ways. It was an excellent story and is one of the reasons anthologies are so great, giving readers a chance to meet new authors this way.

Omega and the Beast by Sinstre Ange was a huge draw to this particular set as well and this story was not a disappointment. Taking the classic Beauty and the Beast tale and spinning it with Sinistre Ange's well known dark twist gave a more unique creation that was steamy and enjoyable. Beowulf's Baker by Minette Moreau was a nice step away from the run of the mill as well, and I've enjoyed this author's other works in the past.

It wrapped up with Ruining Red by Vivian Murdoch which was a great way to end a fun, twisted series of stories as Vivian always delivers tales which are titillating and steamy in all the best ways. Much like Cari Silverwood and Sinstre Ange, anything she writes blends dark and enthralling in a wonderful mix.

It's a great anthology though some is not for the faint of heart and treads to the darker side, but given it's title, readers should be able to expect that without needing more.

I didn't read all the stories.

Bear’s Little CritterMaker – Cooper McKenzie

Bailey Dupree had a rough life. She was the care giver to a wonderful woman, Mrs. Baer. She taught her how to create these little critters that she could sell. But Bailey’s home life is the worst. When she goes to the Farmer’s Market to sell her critters, she meets a handsome tall man. There is no way he would be interested in her. Noah never expected to meet his mate at the Farmer’s Market. She was sweet and beautiful. He just have to figure a way to get to know her and then tell her. When I stated reading this story, my heart broke for her. Her life was a mess and her father was scum. When you read the story you find out how she was treated. I just wanted to cry. Noah is a sweetheart and cared about her from the start. When Noah meets her father, things take a turn.

Omega and the Beast – Sinister Ange

If you ever read stories about an alpha and omega, you know where this is going. Callista is an Omega. Her loving father has protected her by getting her suppressants but there are times they she doesn’t have any to help. When things become dire, she has no choice. Adonis is our Beast and let’s say he is a beast in more ways than one. Think of Beauty and the Beast with a kinky, sexy twist. But you will need tissue because it does get sad as we learn about Adonis and his past as well as the people of the villages. I enjoyed this story. Honestly, how many of us liked the Beast more then the “prince” in the movie?

I originally received this as an early read and was just going to read Prey and Punishment. But after a little taste, I grabbed a final copy and devoured the whole collection

Prey and Punishment - Silverwood
Poppy was such a handful - She had no fear - If I had awoken to realize that the yummy monster in my dream was real the last thing I would be doing was chasing him down the dark alleys.
But don't fear Yagar, our dealer of punishment, was already addicted to her taste.
So when her trouble making back side finds herself in trouble, multiple times, he is there to save her and dole out her punishment
I think she might be doing some of it just to get that last result

If you like your heroines strong, sassy, and at times -I don't know how to politely put this *chuckles*-
Naughty? Curious? Determined?
And your heroes with the five D's
Delicious, dark, dangerous, demanding wielding extraordinary...
(yeah I left that one for your imagination)
Then you won't want to pass up this anthology
Seriously - We are talking tentacles, bogeymen, aliens, apex appendages (a bit like the predator), marshmallow monsters, shifters and a whole host of other fun stuff
Let us not forget you also get to check out some amazing authors who may be new to you and get a little taste of their upcoming or current works
How can you lose?

Reminder - This is a twisted collection of tales that at times plays in the darker end of the pool so if that is not your normal cuppa ...

This anthology is beastly twisted and oh so good.

Bear's Little Critter Maker by Cooper McKenzie
A new to me author, I enjoyed this story A LOT. Bailey was a sweet little girl who was just looking for a way out of her life and runs into Noah while selling her crocheted animals at the market. A bear shapeshifter, he recognizes her need for a protector he takes over the role handily.

Cinders by Bronwin Judde
Another new to me author, this is a twisted retelling of Cinderella with wicked stepmother turning into nasty Aunt and cousins. This is where the Cinderella references end and it just becomes a smexy poly-fest. There really wasn't much of a story here.

Omega and the Beast by Sinistre Ange
Callista is a secret Omega and when her father goes missing after his regular run to get her suppressants, she's frantic her secret will be discovered. When the local priest comes to her home she runs to find her father and finds her Alpha best instead. Loved the omegaverse/fairytale combo.

Beowulf's Baker by Minette Moreau
Eva has a hidden agenda, but has one night of pleasure with Llyr. Although she initially had other plans for him, she leaves at the end of the night and allows him to escape her plan. When they meet again she discovers Llyr isn't the Alpha she'd been led to believe. Great tale of fated mates. Although this is part of the Fated Mates series, it reads completely as a stand alone, although we get to see characters from the previous stories.

Prey and Punishment by Cari Silverwood
This was a dark bogeyman story about Poppy and Yagar. Poppy's on a course of vengeance and loves horror. Yagar is the beast who doesn't believe he deserves love, but finds it. And we get some super k!nky scenes. Yum!

Ruining Red by Vivian Murdouch
Teagan, Little Red Hood, runs into Conri as she travels through the forrest. He believe her to be the elusive Omega, the other half of his wolf's soul. The village uses sacrifice to appease the beast, hating what they don't understand. Thankfully these two get a HEA and lots of smexy scenes.

I LOVE Twisted Beasts. This anthology has been an absolute kick to read. Each story is a different fairy tale/fable retelling. Two stories stuck out for me. The first is Minette Moreau’s Beowulf’s Baker, which, straight up, I LOVE Ms. Moreau’s big cats in space series (look it up), which was just delightful and had me cackling at ALL the heroines’ fated mates. In this book, Eva is a fab heroine. I loved everything about her. Especially, her cat. And Llyr was just…kisses fingertips…yummy. And of course, it wouldn’t be a Minette Moreau story without an incredible amount of humor to go with all the swooniness.

Then there’s Cari Silverwood’s Prey and Punishment, and if you’ve never read one of her books before, know that there’s an incredible amount of humor in her stories. In this one, we meet the Bogeyman and I’m pretty sure that I will never see him any other way again. And Poppy is great. Her embracing (so to speak) of Yagar had me cackling.

I’m slowly working my way through the rest of the stories, but overall, these are great. Perfect time of year to curl up with a set of twisted tales.

Prey and Punishment by Cari Silverwood.

What a delightful surprise. A spooky book with things that go bump in the night. Just in time for Halloween or whenever you need a good shiver on a cold night.

Hang onto your hats readers as you are taken into the world of the Bogeyman. They are here to punish bad girls who do bad things.

Poppy has been bad. She blew up a drug dealers car.
Why, you ask. Vengeance on the person who got her sister addicted to drugs.

Unbeknownst to Poppy, she is now in the supernatural sights of Yagar, a monster of myth and legend. The Bogeyman. He will punish the wicked girl, but little does he know that he will come quite attached to her and never let her go.

Yes, a Bogeyman and a human girl in a relationship?? Please say it isn't so, how could that possibly workout between them?

Please read this spooktacular story and find out. This book is filled with mystery, romance and lots of hot, hot 🔥 stuff going-on .

I found this very entertaining and know that you will too. I was given an ARC for an honest review.

Prey and Punishment by Cari Silverwood
This story is quite the juxtaposition. It is a bit of a dark read, while at the same time, a sweet love story. Yagar, AKA the Boogeyman lives to punish women for their sins. And Poppy committed a sin, born of temper and love of a sister. The night after she burns a car, Yagar shows up in her room to teach her the error of her ways. But it does not go as planned. Yager does not scare Poppy, much to his dismay. Dismay that soon turns to more. He soon finds himself wanting her for who she is, rather than her transgressions. Can a human girl and a monster from nightmares, build a relationship? Can they find a way to find common ground? I expected a dark story, and it started as a dark story, but by the end it was a sweet love story – in a dark sort of way. Not sure if this makes any sense. I enjoyed reading it very much. I love how easily Ms Silverwood can turn our nightmares into a love story.
