About the author

I was born in Sacramento, California. As a child, I wrote plays for the neighbor kids and invited their parents to performances. As I got older, I started my own family newspaper, handwritten and hand delivered, for the extortion price of 25 cents. Eventually, I moved into writing angst-ridden poems and journals – lots of them. Right after graduating from high school, I married the love of my life whom I met while walking on a beach in Northern California. We had two children, spent years building a house, juggling pets and living on sailboats. All the while, I wrote stories but I never attempted to sell them.

When the kids started Junior High, I started marketing my writing. When my short stories were turned down by mainstream women's magazines, my mother suggested I try a confession magazine. I sold my first story to them within two weeks. What a feeling of accomplishment! I walked on air for about a week! It took me almost two years to sell my next story, but after that, I went on to sell over two dozen to the various confession magazines. The experience of learning to get a story off the ground within a sentence or two was invaluable as was the connection I made with one of the editors. When she moved to a small book publisher, I sent her a completed manuscript which she bought. I wrote twenty books for her, mostly romances with a few mysteries thrown in. During this time, I learned about pacing, plot development and characterization. There is nothing a writer can do to improve their craft that trumps the actual setting of oneself in a chair and writing. Eventually I sold a manuscript to Silhouette. Now, forty books and many editors later, I've written for Avalon, Silhouette, Kensington, and Harlequin Intrigue I am also still married to the love of my life and our two children have given us three wonderful grandchildren.

Great book just enough mystery to keep the pages turning!

Not a bad story, a somewhat interesting mystery. Although you have to suspend disbelief quite a bit, example, the heroine has just given birth by Cesarean section, which is a major surgery and requires a lot of recovery time, but she is running around with the hero. Plus, she is supposed to be breast feeding but she is away from her babies a lot, but the author never mentions her having to use a breast pump. I also found the hero impatient and a little selfish, he had loved her for years but was a little mad that she didn't love him back, not long after her husband was killed, plus she had four babies to worry about and criminals were threatening her.

Cant remember much of what I thought of this book. It's been a bit since I read it. I gave it a 3 stars because I thought it was ok but nothing special about it.

A bit confusing in parts, but an okay read. Plenty of mystery and action, with a tiny bit of romance. It wasn’t a hot story, and felt a bit unreal. Got through it.

If you like short fun romance & mystery combos this is a treat--it's tightly plotted and makes excellent use of the short format to keep the action moving. The adorable quads just adds to the fun factor. The secondary characters really make the story--the best friend/sister adds humor and emotional impact. I don't read many categories from this line any more b/c I like a "bigger" book, but this was less like a typical intrigue and more like a cozy mystery with a very happy ending (picture Elaine Viets handing out happy endings and you'd come close to her voice here).

Intense suspense for sure! Twists that come at shocking moments. Making you just go "what?!"and go "now what?" Its a keeps you on your toes a bit with this one. Really was immerished into the story! Captivating, on wanting know what was next. Very greatly packed action for a short story.
